"Your First Amendment right can be terminated if you're creating a scene or whatever… your presence created a scene": Cop Probably Making Bigger Scene Than NBC News Photographer Who Got Detained
Video was apparently posted the same day of a Chicago cop threatening photographers from NBC News and stating their mere presence terminated their First Amendment rights two months ago, but is only making its rounds across the Internet now.
Bob Sullivan at MSNBC's Redtape Chronicle wrote on the video first this morning:
"Your First Amendment rights can be terminated," yells the Chicago police officer, caught on video right before arresting two journalists outside a Chicago hospital. One, an NBC News photographer, was led away in handcuffs essentially for taking pictures in a public place. He was released only minutes later, but the damage was done. Chicago cops suffered an embarrassing "caught on tape" moment, and civil rights experts who say cops are unfairly cracking down on citizens with cameras had their iconic moment.

Terminated?
With extreme prejudice.
When the technology becomes available, the Chicago PD will actually send armed drones back in time to take out the framers of the Constitution.
Early attempts will fail due to temporal coordinates attained from Constitutional scholar Ezra Klein.
But the GOP will send a cyborg Mitt Romney back to the same time to fight them.
Mitt will tie them to the roof of his covered wagon
to be guarded by his 23 wives.
while he bullies them
They can call the wagon the Choom Van.
That and the fact that they all showed up naked.
"Early attempts will fail due to temporal coordinates attained from Constitutional scholar Ezra Klein."
They'll be showing up at Independence Hall in July 1909.
But did he say it in a thick, austrian accent?
"We hear about constitutional rights, free speech and the free press. Every time I hear those words I say to myself, 'That man is a Red, that man is a Communist.' You never heard a real American talk in that manner."
Wow. I had no idea Judge Dredd was Mayor of Jersey City.
I'm getting the impression that there aren't many libertarian cops.
That one just seems like an idiot. No, really, he appears to be an ignorant, stupid fuck or whatever.

That one? I think most of them.
You don't join a Rape Squad if you don't want to rape people.
That's mightily profound. I'm using that one in the future.
They arrested media members. This is how tinpot dictatorships start.
Of course, less hyperbolically, this guy is just a dipshit who should be fired. Looks like the supervisors got it straightened out, but the shame of it is that an illegal arrest, the kind of thing autocracies do, will go blithely unpunished.
There is one upside. They let the mask slip. They have a hard time claiming they are anything but what they are in the future.
Repeat after me: "isolated incident"
'cranial indention?'
'fatal blunt force trauma?'
'mortal gunshot wound to the family canine?'
'don't taze me, bro!?'
'procedures were followed.'
'a few bad apples?'
'He was coming right for us!"
"I was so scared I peed my pants! See!"

Wait, what?
He retroactively repealed their First Amendments.
This is just the way things are in Chicago. There's no connection between the way that city is run and the way the national government is run.
It is not like a product of that culture will ever get elected President or anything.
Nairobi on the other hand...
BIRTHER!!!!!!111111!!!!1eleventy!!!1!one!!!!

Huh.

You can't explain that
I got "Server is busy"
PWNED!
Oh, and bullshit, only the President can do that.
But only after giving it some due process while he sitting on the pot
Possible Drone Names:
The Terminator
Fuck You, That's Why
'Cause I'm the President, Bitch!
"Due Process"
Drone Process.
Is that what kids are calling it nowdays?
For a matched set:
"Hope"
"Change"
My favorite name for a warship remains:
"No More Mr. Nice Guy"
Ian Banks has a genius for names.

I was laughing at the embarrassed expressions and body language of the other cops. The 2 Latino looking guys in particular looked disgusted and exchange some exasperated glances. They looked away from the cameras as much as possible.
But, the Chicago PD being what it is, nothing will happen to the maniac cop.
He'll get paid administrative leave and counseling.
Terminating First Amendments is very traumatic.
So there I was, running down a dark alley after a reporter, when I came around the corner face-to-face with what I thought was the criminal and a camera pointed right at me. I reacted instinctively. Before I knew it, it was over, I had terminated his First Amendment rights. But it was just some little kid with a telescope. What kid is running around in the night with a telescope? After that, it was paid administrative leave for years, I just couldn't bring myself to carry my Instant-Rights-Terminator anymore.
That's how "a few bad apples" ruins the whole bunch- the rest of them would rather look the other way. Their shame isn't the asshole cop but that they don't call him over and shut him the hell up. Their shame is knowing that when THEY behave that way they will expect their fellow officers to turn their heads and see nothing. But it disgusts them when 'civilians' won't snitch or jump in.
No lawsuits appear to have been filed.
Then fuck you, NBC News. Defend your rights.
NBC News, like all MSM outlets, are statist fucks. The only reason they care even a little bit is that this happened to one of them. Had the same thing happened to a "normal" citizen they probably wouldn't have even bothered reporting it.
I love the crude language. Your First Amendment rights can be terminated,. What a fucking baboon.
whatever
Maximum irony threshhold would have been reached if he had followed up with, "I AM THE LAW!!!"
So the feds are going to prosecute for violation of civil rights if he is found not-guilty during his state-level trial for kidnapping, right? Cause double jeopardy doesn't apply during cases like this, does it?
There's no equal protection violation for the feds to exploit.
Considering this is Chicago PD, he's probably lucky he wasn't beaten into a coma for obstruction of justice.
The only reason he got off so "light" is because the cameras were rolling.
No way this bitch wins. But if she does, Massholes deserve her.
EXCLUSIVE: ELOPED? ELIZABETH WARREN'S PARENTS MARRIED IN RELIGIOUS CEREMONY
Last night, in an interview with the Boston Globe, Elizabeth Warren claimed that her parents were forced to elope because her father's family objected to her mother's Native American heritage:
"In the 1930s, when my parents got married, these were hard issues,'' Warren said. "My father's family so objected to my mother's Native American heritage that my mother told me they had to elope. [emphasis added]
Breitbart News has obtained a copy of what it believes to be Warrens' parents' marriage certificate from Hughes County, Oklahoma, dated January 4, 1932. The marriage took place in Holdenville, Oklahoma, the county seat, located approximately 14 miles from Wetumpka, Oklahoma, which both the 21-year-old groom, Donald J. Herring, and 19-year-old bride, Pauline Reed, declared as their residence.
Breitbart News found the certificate at the blog Pollysgranddaughter, where it was linked on May 22, prior to Warren's claims about her parents' marriage.
According to the document, the marriage was performed by Sidney H. Babcock, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church South of Holdensville, Oklahoma.
Typically, couples that elope do not marry in a church, or in their place of residence.

This is getting absurd. I propose nobody link a story about Lizzie Warden unless it's about her telling the truth. I figure that will cut the traffic way down...to about none by my estimation.
Wow. She's digging that hole hard.
she should have just stuck with the school-marm thing she's got going.
Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.
This whole Elizabeth Warren business is pure chewing satisfaction.
She's a Reed? Oh no.
And her father sent their dog to live on a farm, too.
Comforting to know that that ignoramus is carrying a gun.
with a lawful right to use it. Feel safe now?
He's probably too stupid to figure which end points at the reporter dog guy who's door he just kicked in when he got the address on the warrant wrong "bad guys".
Here's the thing though: he may have phrased it poorly, but I understand what the cop was saying.
Your right to free speech does end when a cop decides you're creating a public disturbance of some kind. Otherwise I could stand in the middle of the street during rush-hour with my sandwhich board proclaiming The End Is Coming! and never be touched, as long as I claimed it was "free speech".
Now of course this particular news guy was not causing a disturbance at all probably, and the cop is a piece of shit, but that doesn't make what he said untrue.
You know who else stood in the middle of the street during rush-hour with a sandwhich board proclaiming "The End Is Coming!"...
Rorschach.
Your right to free speech still remains intact. Your right to stand in th road and obstruct traffic is severely curtailed, though.
^This^ You can stand to the side of a street or on a street corner with a sandwhich board proclaiming "The End is Near" all you want, so long as you're not obstructing traffic or hurting anyone else.
Just go downtown in any major city if you want proof. In Denver I once saw I some guy on the 16th St. Mall dragging a cross down the street. It had wheels on it and it took every ounce of self control I could muster not to shout "Jesus didn't have the luxury of wheels on his".
That was a missed opportunity.
You shoulda offered up a hammer.
Ok, better example: slander. Absolute free speech means I can make false claims, threaten to kill people, etc., with no repercussion.
At some point my right to say shit runs into other people's rights, and at that point, my right is curtailed.
Additionally, don't fall into the liberal trap of assuming "speech" is only that which comes out of my mouth. Maybe my blocking traffic is my preferred method of speech.
At some point my right to say shit runs into other people's rights, and at that point, my right is curtailed.
That's exactly my point. The right to free speech is not absolute - it does terminate at the point that it conflicts with the rights of others.
Makes sense now, I was reading two different msgs. I agree.
He was released only minutes later, but the damage was done. Chicago cops suffered an embarrassing "caught on tape" moment, and civil rights experts who say cops are unfairly cracking down on citizens with cameras had their iconic moment.
Perhaps I'm reading this wrong, but it seems to me that Bob Sullivan thinks this episode is out of character for the CPD and that this whole issue is overblown.
Oh, wait. He works for MSNBC. Nevermind.
Who needs rights when you have the police and the wonderful government of OZ protect us. I am clicking my heels and nothing is happening.
