New Smartphone App Will Let You Complain to the TSA With Ease
Smart phone applications, is there anything they can't help you evade or complain about faster? Not from the people that brought you the various DUI checkpoint warning apps, nor the people who offered the Occupy Wallstreet-ready and the undocumented immigrant-friendly versions of "hey, I'm getting arrested right now, help!" apps, but rather from something called the Sikh Coalition, comes a new app that makes complaining about the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) a breeze. Well, possibly. That's the idea behind the app set to be released on Monday, anyway.
For those confused about what exactly a generally pro-Sikh group has to do with the TSA, well, apparently they get targeted a lot at airports. Even though technically of course they don't (because profiling isn't allowed! Which is why little kids and Grandmas get targeted for terrorism. Not that the TSA should be profiling, because oh my God they would be even more terrible at that than we could possibly imagine.)
[T]he app asks a series of questions that mirror the complaint reporting document offered on the TSA's website, then sends the agency an official report, which they claim are always followed-up on.
Amardeep Singh, director of programs for the coalition, told Raw Story that the app should enable people who believe they've been profiled to file an official complaint "within minutes" of an incident at a checkpoint.
"The application creates a novel marriage between technology and civil rights activism," The Sikh Coalition said in an advisory. "It is the first and only such application of its kind, allowing users in communities such as the Sikh, Muslim, Latino, or Black communities to document their experience at the airport."
"For years The Sikh Coalition and the Sikh community has been complaining about profiling by security at airports," Singh said. "But official complaints filed with the TSA or Homeland Seucrity are notoriously low from our community. For example, for the third quarter of 2011 the TSA reported to Congress that only 11 people had complained of profiling at airports, and of course the complaints we received [about the TSA] are more like in the hundreds."

The gal in the top photo won't be smiling like that after she gets groped by some dweeb with a badge.

Yeah, I'm sure that after getting swamped with complaints, the TSA will ignore them even more than they already do now.
Of course. More feel good theatre, Epi.
"I'm righteously indignant at this horrible treatment (that most likely I supported) and I'm giving them a piece of my mind with an APP! Boy, that will show them but good!"
Give me a break.
Is there anything more than infinity? You suck at math. You sicken me!
There's always infinity plus one.
Infinity squared, sage, you mental midget. How did I know you'd fail to get that?
What really sucks from a cultural standpoint is, the Sikhs fought tooth-and-nail against the Muslims for a long time. And now they get grouped in with them as "threatening brown people with turbans".
Also interesting is that due to their military history and traditions, they make up a much larger portion of the Indian army than they are a percentage of the population (between 15-20% of the military, while being only about 2% of the population).
Whenever those horrible Chavs and Yobs were making destructive mischief in the UK not too long ago, the neighborhoods with high Muslim and, in particular, Sikhs, were ready to fight tooth and nail to protect their neighborhoods from those roving bands of vandals. I remember hearing that using cricket bats with nails was a popular makeshift weapon. Needless to say, those neighborhoods were largely unmolested.
Sikhs are a segment of the population with whom you do not want to fuck; righteous badassery abounds.
Yeah I watched some History Channel show about them. All in all they're not a group with whom one should fuck.
Sikhs also carry small daggers called Kirpans, and even though many are glued into their sheaths they might cause issues for the TSA.
It just amazes me that people in this country put up with the TSA.
I mean, unlike a lot of the really lousy stuff this country has done to its own people, this affects everyone (who flies, anyway).
Well, it's 'for the childrunz' or some such bullshit.
I think its the type of thing many people complain about, but who are they going to vote for who would do anything about it? That crazy Ron Paul who hates America? Also I think for many its an issue they hate but not something they're going use to vote or not vote for a candidate.
Then there's the group of people who think it keeps us safe and this is the price we pay for freedom, etc.
"It just amazes me that people in this country put up with the TSA"
I agree but the problem is that there are basically two types of travelers. Business traveleres who don't want to risk losing their job over a pat down. Then there are people who are vacationing who have put a lot of money into airfare and hotel rooms and do not want to screw any of that up.
This is true. My job requires a certain amount of airline travel. I guess I could drive but that would end up using a lot of my vacation. Of course it's certainly my choice to hold this job and I could go and get another that doesn't require flying. But the point is that I shouldn't have to make that choice in a country that claims to honor civil liberties but requires invasive and inconvenient violations of my person as a condition of being allowed to travel by the most convenient and rapid modes.
Strange this is, I have never had an issue with TSA. But I want to choke the fuck out of a DHS immigration goon every time I re-enter this shitty ass USSA.

"Strange this is, I have never had an issue with TSA...."
Good would be explanation, Yoda.
Nao entendo, weed hopper. LOL. That didn't make any sense, Sevo, one of us must be drunk.
I'm giving is serious consideration, but I got a ways to go.
What mean "Strange this is, I have never had an issue with TSA...."
Smartphone is far way too different from a cell phone. A cell phone is used for text messaging and making calls but not much else. On the other hand smartphone does not only function for text messaging and calls but rather it has the ability to send and receive e-mail and edit Office documents, for example. Some smartphones can support multiple e-mail accounts. Also, smartphone adds features that you might find on a personal digital assistant or a computer. That's why smartphone is very popular nowadays.
People who want a smartphone but don't pay hundreds of dollars to get one on top of the exorbitant contract can hardly be blamed, but may want to give Sprint a look. The carrier is presenting an Android phone, the ZTE Fury, for $20. Article source: Sprint offering ZTE Fury Android phone for $20
Oh, so that's what a smartphone is! Tell me, since you seem to know so much could you explain cordless drills to me?
I'm pretty certain the TSA will just make an app that promptly puts names of robo-complaint submitters in the extra-grope watchlist.
Truly a great step forward in the rate at which complaints are ignored.

lol, might as well complain to the chair you are sitting in lol.

I totally surprised to hear a bit sounds about smart phone new app comes complaining about Transportation security administration. I think it's very important app while little kids and grandmas get targeted for violence.
It's nice to know about the Raw Story through Amardeep Singh! I hope after taking the step the troubles about insecurity what have to faced by the community will be less than previous. Good luck for all.
