Upcoming Nick Gillespie & Matt Welch Events
Tomorrow evening (October 18) at Yale, I'll be appearing at the Yale Political Union to debate the resolution "Ban Smoking at Yale." The fun kicks off at 7.30pm in Sudler Hall and the event is open to the public, though I don't believe that smoking will be allowed. If you're in the New Haven, Connecticut area, come on by.
For more information, go here.
On Saturday, October 22, Matt Welch and I will be appearing at the Students for Liberty Regional Conference that's being held at New York City's Columbia University.
The conference starts up at 9a.m. and runs till 8.30p.m. and is free and open to the public. Matt and I will be delivering the afternoon keynote address that is scheduled to run between 1.45p.m. and 2.45p.m. We'll be discussing key themes from our book, The Declaration of Independents: How Libertarian Politics Can Fix What's Wrong With America, and will be signing copies of the same afterwards, too.
Other speakers at the NYC confab include Tom Palmer of the Atlas Economic Research Foundation, Gene Epstein of Barron's, Nicole Gelinas of the Manhattan Institute, Joanne Naughton of Law Enforcement Against Prohibition, Brian Aitken of the Foundation for Economic Education, and Isaac Morehouse of the Institute of Humane Studies.
For more information on the conference, go here.
It's Monday and after a punishing weekend for baseball fans everywhere (really, a World Series between the Rangers and Cards?), take an early morning vacation with the Compleat Ask a Liberatian video series from earlier this year:

They wrote a book? What is it called? They need to write one about the Declaration of Independence.
Since you travel around so much have you thought about writing a book and doing a book tour?
HA! I KNEW Nick was a lefty. You can tell by the slightly-off look in his eye. I suspect it's from long-term possession by THE JACKET. Someone needs to save that poor man's soul.
This just in, for 365 days this year Matt and Nick will continue to act as if anything south of the Mason Dixon line and east of Las Vegas doesn't exist.
+1. Come down south and convert some of these hicks. I'd show up if they ever came within a day's drive from Chapel Hill.
Dude, we spent all last week in Virginia and South Carolina, and were in Duke before that!
For real? Damn, I'm like 20 minutes away from Duke. Why was I not personally notified?
Seriously though, sorry I missed ya.
im gonna be in NYC this weekend nick & would luv to meet you. but its a pain taking the subway fm occupy wall street to the upper west side.

What's strange is that after the devastating wild card round I would have said this was the match-up MLB most wanted to see because of the markets/history/marketability of the teams. However, I would have also said that I can't think of a single person who wants to watch that match-up aside from hometown fans.
I'm not a fan of either, but I think it will be a GREAT series.
Also, the same thing is said EVERY TIME new york, boston, philly, or la aren't in the series. It's a tired argument.
I'm a red sox fan - one who was dumb enough to see game 162 in person - but I am absolutely pumped for the series. There have been a bunch of thrilling games this postseason, with records being set all over the place. Plus, St. Louis is easily the best pure baseball fan base in the NL, and possibly in all of baseball.
In other words, I'm not sure what's not to like for us baseball fans this postseason.
Go Rangers!
Nick, despite your reprehensible sports opinions we will still welcome you to Dallas anytime.
When are you guys going to be on the Jim Bohannon Show?
Anyone hitting New Haven?
I hope you will post podcasts of these events on Reason.com and Reason.TV. Thanks.
