Reason.tv: The Dumbest Thing Ever Said!…by Hillary Clinton, about the Drug War
Recently, during an interview with Mexico's Televisa, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton declared that the United States can't legalize drugs "because there is just too much money in it."
Apparently, Clinton doesn't understand that there's so much money to be made selling illegal drugs precisely because drugs are illegal.
Reason.tv uses Clinton's love of pant suits and Chardonnay to explain the economics of prohibition to the former presidential candidate.
Approximately 1.45 minutes.

""""Apparently, Clinton doesn't understand that there's so much money to be made selling illegal drugs precisely because drugs are illegal.""""
No, she understands that a huge number of people make lots of money off of it.
The banks, many foreign governments, the prison industry, the police and numerous drug enforcement agencies. Plus the pharmaceutical industry does not want competition. She does not want to hurt these constituents
Fact.
I promise you, a high-ranking official would never say that out loud.
If they did, that would be awesome, and one of the smartest things ever said.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton declared that the United States can't legalize drugs "because there is just too much money in it."
Agreed....we can't have politicians running around half cocked (or crocked if that youtube image is any indication) and telling the truth now can we!
truest, but not smartest.
I meant by a major politician like Hilary.
FEED ME
You know, if there is so much money to be made, and the implication is that legalizing it would:....do what?
Price falls, less drug smuggling activity, less violence. Low price means everybody can afford drugs and gets high?
Price goes up, taxes collected is enough to balance the budget. Or we are all so high that we are hallucinating that the budget is balanced. I say win - win.
So what is the problem?
We have a certain number of drunks do to inexpensive booze. But if we made booze cheaper I doubt we would have any more drunks. The number of drunks have to be balanced against bringing back the costs of prohibition. (Speakeasys might be fun!!!)
There will always be "sketchy characters." What would the "sketchy characters" do if drugs and prostitution were legal, huh reason?? Got an answer for that? The drug war plays a vital role in keeping "sketchy characters" occupied.
The War on Drugs= Sketchy Character Full Employment Act.
I like it.
Yes, and some of them are criminals!
/zing!
More accurate to say...some aren't politicians!
The drug war plays a vital role in keeping "sketchy characters" occupied funded and powerful.
FTFY. Nobody is saying that a Sinaloa enforcer is going to go sell used cars the day after drugs are legalized. But is there any other endeavor for which people claim that removing all economic incentive would have no effect on its prevalence?
Tag fail, my bad.
The drug war plays a vital role in keeping "sketchy characters" occupied.
Too true. Will no one think of the cops and prison guards?
We wouldn't have as many cops and prison guards to think of.
Sure we would, they would be re-assigned to the recently unionized TSA.
Exactly the real problem. Bank robbery and kidnapping would instantly go right through the roof. All the DEA employees would become FBI employees the next day. Drug laws are welfare for the criminally violent.
So that's what happened after Prohibition ended?
Right! Oppressing people, taking away liberties, destroying economic opportunities (overall, not just in a free market for drugs)has nothing to do with creating sketchy characters. The number will always be static percentagewise.
8Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
9Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
Not excusing people, but when government induces poverty then crime will rise. Anyone see the politest thief video on youtube?
Reason.tv: The Dumbest Thing Ever Said!...by Hillary Clinton
"I do."
"Amen"
contenders:
"I have to confess that it's crossed my mind that you could not be a Republican and a Christian."
"God bless the America we are trying to create."
"We have a lot of kids who don't know what works means. They think work is a four-letter word."
"I'm not going to have some reporters pawing through our papers. We are the president."
"Who is going to find out? These women are trash. Nobody's going to believe them." ?on Bill Clinton's bimbo eruptions
"If I didn't kick his ass every day, he wouldn't be worth anything." ?on Bill Clinton
"I suppose I could have stayed home and baked cookies and had teas, but what I decided to do was to fulfill my profession which I entered before my husband was in public life."
"We are going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."
"I have said that I'm not running and I'm having a great time being pres ? being a first-term senator." ?on her presidential ambitions
Wait, what's wrong with this quote?
"We have a lot of kids who don't know what works means. They think work is a four-letter word."
"Approximately 1.45 minutes" is 1:27. You probably meant "Approximately 1.75 minutes." Or you meant to use the colon instead of the period. GET IT RIGHT, REASON!!!
That's the best you could come up with? Why waste the electrons?
Making money is a bad thing. If you make too much money we need to send cops to bust up your business, arrest your customers and shoot your dog.
Alcohol prohibition in the US run from 1919 to 1933 - Now google 'The Great Wall Street Crash' and see when that happened!
During alcohol prohibition, all profits went to enrich thugs and criminals. Young men died every day on inner-city streets while battling over turf. A fortune was wasted on enforcement that could have gone on education etc. On top of the budget-busting prosecution and incarceration costs, billions in taxes were lost. Finally the economy collapsed. Sound familiar?
http://1929crash.com/
China has recently been in negotiation with a number of countries, asking them to replace the Dollar with the Chinese Yuan as their reserve currency. This, when it happens, will remove the Federal Government's ability to keep printing cash to cover the trillions it costs to fund prohibition. It'll bring true freedom but the transition period will be more hectic than a slasher movie. It never had to be this way; we should have learned our lesson from studying the mayhem that alcohol prohibition wreaked on us.
We all have our victories and defeats as regards fear, but most of us strive not to let fear rule our hearts or our minds. Being free means being free to live and love as if death and fear had no power over us. Freedom also means that we have an ethical and moral responsibility to expose blind hate, lies and ignorance by shining eternal light, truth and love, sending such dark forces fleeing to the shadows from whence they came.
We explore outer space with various forms of space craft, but many choose to explore inner space via nature's abundant chemistry - an infinite journey into the heart of God. Whatever, we are here to explore this glorious universe. The Prohibitionist's brand of hateful, choking pseudo-Conservatism is the antithesis of all that. Like a lion who cannot grasp that he can do more than walk in a circle the size of the cage he's recently been freed from, the prohibitionist is incapable of exploration beyond the boundaries of his own fear, prejudice and loathing. We are all free to choose how we walk our own path, but when we choose to go beyond this by supporting drug-war demagoguery, to the point of even threatening others with imprisonment and physical violence, we loose the right to expect any form of respect from the once free and prosperous society that we are helping to totally destroy.
Thanks to prohibition we're about to lose all semblance of that once ordered, prosperous and safe society. Myself, along with many others, have been debating prohibitionists on this for many years. We have shown what destruction prohibition has wrought on all the civil institutions of this once great nation, -we've always provided facts and statistics - they, the prohibitionists, have countered with either lies, personal abuse or even serious threats of violence.
Ending the insanity of drug prohibition by legalized regulation, respecting the rights of the responsible users and focusing on addiction as a sickness, like we do with alcohol and tobacco, may save what remains of our economy and civil institutions along with countless lives and livelihoods. Prohibition continues unabated for shameful political reasons. It cannot, and never will, reduce drug use or addiction.
Prohibition has permanently scarred our national character as well as our individual psyches. Our national policies and cultural practices have become pervaded by the fascistic, prohibitionist mind-set which has turned our domestic police force into a bunch of paramilitary thugs who often commit extra-judicial beatings and executions while running roughshod over our rights in order to "protect us from ourselves".
When we eventually manage to put the horrors of this moronothon behind us, we'll need to engage in some very deep and honest soul-searching as to what we want to be as a nation. Many of our freedoms have been severely circumscribed or lost altogether, our economy has been trashed and our international reputation for being "free and fair" has been dragged through a putrid sewer by vicious narrow-minded drug warrior zealots who are ignorant of abstract concepts such as truth, justice and decency. We'll need to make sure that such a catastrophe is never ever repeated. This may mean that public hearings or tribunals will be held where those who've been the instigators and cheerleaders of this abomination will have to answer for their serious crimes against our once prosperous and proud nation.
Each day you remain silent, you help to destroy the Constitution, fill the prisons with our children, and empower terrorists and criminals worldwide while wasting hundreds of billions of your own tax dollars. Prohibition bears many strong and startling similarities to Torquemada?'s inquisition?, it's supporters are servants of tyranny and hate; if you're aware of but not enraged by it's shear waste and cruel atrocities then both your heart and soul must surely be dead.
panties a little tight today?
Because I said so!
She obviously meant that there is too much money (for the state) in keeping it illegal. How else can we justify shiny APC's and automatic weapons for sheriff's departments?
Or ... too much money ... for election campaigns. Donated by police and law enforcement industry people.
Politicians and connected political groups, which definitely includes law enforcement, make money off the drug war.
They would scream bloody muder if anyone threatened to stop it.
Recently a Mexican left-wing political cartoonist compared the Drug Wars with the Opium Wars. He said that the British were selling opium to the Chinese market since they had little to offer in trade with the Chinese, the Chinese government wanted to ban the drug so it closed their ports to the British, in response the latter declared war and in the end they managed to establish a treaty that gave them control of several port cities in China. At the conclusion, he said that the Drug Wars and Opium Wars are the product of capitalist greed.
What exactly are the parallels? Is he saying that Mexico plans on annexing part of U.S.?
The conclusion is obvious, but does it follow?
What Hillary Clinton didn't say but should have is that there it
too much money in it for politicians like herself.
Al Capone had hundreds of politicians and members of law
enforcement on his payroll.
Don't you think the drug cartels
are following his business model?
Let me make one thing perfectly clear: I did not have sex with that woman. Nor would I care to. Not sure I could even if presented with the opportunity. I've never had performance issues, ever - but in her case, I could make an exception.
No one is being murdered or imprisoned over our intoxicant. And we gave you The Most Interesting Man in the World. Stay thirsty, amigos.
I was looking for an article from around 2009 in which Hillary Clinton actually put pressure on the Mexican government to cover up the investigation of the plane that crashed with over 3 tons of cocaine aboard coming from South America with that coke after doing a rendition flight to Guantanamo. Both Bill and Hillary went from legal huge debts to huge unexplained offshore accounts after their stay at the White House. In truth their offshore accounts in the Caymans and probably in terrorist money laundering Sheik Mohamed Al Rashid bin Maktoum's Dubai or whwerever else should be confiscated
and an investigation of their criminal activities undertaken.Unfortunately Barack Osama Obama is part of their and the CIA's and Israel's criminal gang and until they are ousted it will only get worse.
After all how much heroine was being produced in Afghanistan under the Taliban and how much is being produced and sent to Europe and the U.S.under W Bush CIA and now UNDER Barack Osama and Hillary Clinton and the CIA's reign of terror !?
Their cover up of the rendition plane as well as the Jeb Bush and Homeland Security connected Skyway Communications of Lakeland,Florida and Royal Sons holding company continues to be covered up.
Hillary promises or lies about bringing traffickers to justice but unfortunately it appears that she is one.Skyway Communications is also a stock fraud against American investors that bought those DC 9s with that fraud and the SEC OF EX CHAIR CHRIS COX AND NOW MARY SCHAPIRO ARE GUILY OF AIDING COCAINE TRAFFICKING AS WELL.

waynemadsenreport:
Hillary Clinton flew on plane owned by company linked to CIA renditions and organized crime publication date: Oct 15, 2007 Previous | Next October 15, 2007 -- Hillary Clinton flew on plane owned by company linked to CIA renditions and organized crime On September 24, 2007, a Gulfstream II (tail number N987SA) crashed landed in Yucatan, Mexico with 3.3 metric tons (3.7 tons) of cocaine on board.
The plane had recently been sold to Donna Blue Aircraft, Inc. of Coconut Creek, Florida, a firm owned by two Brazilians, and re-sold, shortly before the crash, to two Florida businessmen. N987SA had also flown patterns to and from Guantanamo Bay similar to those flown by CIA rendition aircraft Before being sold to Donna Blue, the Gulfstream had been owned by Air Rutter International, a firm with offices in Garden City, New York; Long Beach and Irvine, California, whose owner is Arik Kislin, the son of Sam Kislin. N987SA was owned by Kislin's business partner, William Achenbaum, an owner, along with Arik Kislin, of Manhattan's Hotel Gansevoort.
Air Rutter leased out the aircraft. WMR has learned that another Air Rutter Gulfstream II (tail number N216RR) has flown presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton, including a January 2007 stop in Des Moines, Iowa. The plane, which has a crew of 3, including a jump seat for a flight attendant, and can handle up to 13 passengers, has a fully galley, a private lavatory, plush leather seats, conference seats and table, CD/DVD entertainment system, a 21 inch monitor, satellite telephone system, and even an espresso machine.
On October 9, 2007, WMR reported: Arik's uncle, Semyon (Sam) Kislin, a member of the New York City Economic Development Board and immigrant from Odessa, has poured substantial political donations into the past campaigns in New York of Hillary Clinton and [Rudolph] Giuliani. He has also contributed to past campaigns of New York Senator Charles Schumer, former Republican Senator Alphonse D'Amato, and President Bill Clinton. The Center for Public Integrity has previously reported that a 1996 Interpol report connected Sam Kislin's Trans Commodities, Inc. to two reputed Uzbek mobsters, Lev and Mikhail Chernoy.
The Interpol connected Kislin's firm to the Chernoys' fraud and embezzlement schemes. Kislin confirmed that Mikhail Chernoy had been employed by his Trans Commodities firm. The Chernoy brothers are citizens of Israel. [The Chenoys have been linked to a worldwide empire of front companies and corporate shells in Monaco, the Bahamas, Cyprus, Switzerland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Israel, the Cayman Islands, Western Samoa, London, Isle of Man, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Brighton Beach (Brooklyn), Liechtenstein, and Vanuatu].
Between 1994 and 1997, Sam Kislin and his wife Ludmila, gave Giuliani $14,250 in contributions. In 1997, after Giuliani maxed out on his GOP contributions, $9.7 million, Kislin donated $30,000 to Giuliani through the Liberal Party, the other ticket on which Giuliani was running for re-election as mayor. In May 1999, Sam Kislin co-chaired a Giuliani Senate race fundraiser at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers in New York. The gathering raised $2.1 million for Giuliani's aborted senate campaign. Arik Kislin contributed $1000 to Giuliani's 1995 mayoral campaign and his Blonde Management shared office space with Sam Kislin's Trans Commodities. Sam Kislin, his wife Ludmila, their son David, and daughter Regina gave $2000 to Schumer's 1998 Senate campaign.
Sam also gave Schumer's opponent, D'Amato, $1000. Sam Kislin is also a prominent supporter of the United Jewish Appeal and Israel. Arik Kislin gave Hillary Clinton $4000 in 2006, specifically on Sept. 12, 2006. That same day an Olya Kislin also donated $4000 to Hillary Clinton. On October 1, 2007, the New York Post reported that an ex-employee of Air Rutter, Mark Billey, subsequently arrested on federal child sex charges, said he noted a number of armed U.S. Marshals at Air Rutter's facilities in Long Beach, however, given the connection between the firm and Clinton, the federal agents may have been part of Senator Clinton's Secret Service detail.
Clinton has made several fundraising visits to the Los Angeles area over the past year. On October 9, WMR also reported that Arik Kislin is associated with another airline company, Skookum Air, Inc. Government records indicate that Clinton's N216RR was owned by Skookum Air, as well as Air Rutter International, with the actual registered owner listed as GS-II Holdings, LLC, a firm registered in Delaware with offices listed at 35 E. 21st St. Suite 500, New York, NY. On October 4, 2007, when Senator Clinton visited Chicago to attend a "Republicans for Hillary" fundraiser at the Hyatt Regency, N216RR was parked at Chicago Midway Airport.
Recently, N216RR has been put up for sale.

tl;dr
Hillary is right, it's too much money in it even if it's LEGAL. Unless these drugs would be sold over the counter, they're restricted, and no one has access to them. I don't think any doctor would prescribe heroin. So the drug dealers are still around with a "legal" business.
Hillary's pretty far right all right.
Musolini and Hitler should move over, they're taking up her rightful space.
Seeing Hillary hitting the booze reminded me of that scene in Detroit Rock City where the mom is smoking cigarettes in front of an ashtray with a million butts sticking out of it while condemning her son for smoking weed.
Maybe she meant there is too much kick back money being funneled to corrupt politicians, and those corrupt politicians would block any attempt to legalize drugs?
Thank you for taking the time to publish this information very useful!Mulberry handbags

U.S., Argentina in Tussle Over Seized Cargo
FEBRUARY 15, 2011
BUENOS AIRES?A diplomatic row between Argentina and the U.S. escalated on Tuesday, with Argentina rebuffing Washington's demands to return communications and other equipment that the South American country confiscated.
Argentina accuses the U.S. of trying to sneak in firearms, communications and surveillance equipment and narcotics in an Air Force cargo plane that arrived last week for a U.S.-sponsored hostage-rescue course for Argentine police officers. U.S. officials called those allegations preposterous on Tuesday and said they were merely bringing in equipment to be used during the training sessions.
Argentine officials say some of the materials weren't included in documents submitted by the U.S. Embassy before the plane's arrival, a charge U.S. officials adamantly deny.
"I want to emphasize the need for our equipment to be returned promptly by the government of Argentina regardless of what motivated this inexplicable behavior," Paul Stockton, the assistant secretary of defense for the Americas, said on Tuesday.
Argentine officials, however, responded the U.S. needed to learn that Argentina has its own laws that need respect.
"Just imagine what would have happened if an Argentine aircraft had taken the same kind of material to the United States. [The Argentines] would all be in Guantanamo in orange overalls," Anibal Fernandez, President Cristina Kirchner's cabinet chief, said in an interview with local broadcaster Radio La Red.....
