On The Other Hand, There's Viagra, Penicillin, & LSD
Here's a recent Reason.tv video that's boining up the youtubes about the law of unintended consequences rearing its ugly head like a redheaded stepchild from Hell on wheels that keep on toining when it comes to artificial reefs made of steel-belted radials, ethanol, and ObamaCare.
Watch it and learn and laff a little, but for god's sake, live, dammit, live!
Speaking on behalf of unintended consequences? The discovery of drugs ranging from Viagra, penicillin, and LSD, and other stuff like microwave cooking, brandy, Teflon, and chocolate chip cookies.
Note that the tragic dimension of unintended consequences attaches itself like a lamprey to public-sector derring-do rather than quaint lab accidents and kitchen-based discoveries.

Warty's birth?
Warty's existence is woven into the very fabric of reality. For Warty not to exist would be impossible. He is implicit. He is all.
Can you feel him inside you? I can!
He has touched my heart. But it was with his cock.
It's long, but I was disappointed by his lack of girth. Also, the hair was pretty disturbing. It gets all clumped up by the Astroglide and blood.
Thin, bent and uncut was the only impression I had before I vomited and passed out.
My eyes started bleeding and then I couldn't see anything; I could only feel the hirsuteness. It was quite the experience.
All I could think of was Whitman:
Jesus, guys.
Exactly, sage. Exactly.
I will punish you degenerates. Must Be Santa
I'm having a feeling of deja vu all over again, and again, and...
I'm pretty sure this is the first time they've ever posted this video.
And also, I've never been on the internet before today.
I've seen enough mentally disturbed hippies to put LSD solidly in the 'tragic dimension of unintended consequences'. Just saying.
Selection bias, anyone? Although, to be fair, whenever anything goes right in the public sector the government says 'I meant to do that', which makes it hard to spot genuinely unintended positive consequences...
Yeah, I'd agree that that's a gross overstatement. The distinction The Jacket should have made is that private sector negative consequences are absorbed the person/company behind the innovation (either directly by wasting money on a product that turns out to be unsafe or indirectly by getting sued for a defective product) while the impact of public sector negative consequences are absorbed by us.
Liberalthink: It is better that all children be denied health insurance, than to have one child with a pre-existing condition be denied. There's a very good chance most liberals are fully aware of the unintended consequences of health insurance regulation, but that they prefer those consequences.
It's the Law of Misery. Human beings would rather have all people be equally miserable, than to have an inequality where only a few people are miserable. This has actually been demonstrated in psychological tests.
Do you know about generic viagra?
If there is no desire to go to the doctor, then you can buy antidepressants online: http://worldwidepharmacyonline.com/
No one will require a prescription, you just have to understand what you need.
