Will Janet Napolitano Be Fired For Times Square Incompetence?
Attorney General Eric Holder tells Jake Tapper this morning that alleged Times Square bombing screwup Faisal Shahzad was facilitated, financed and working under the direction of the Pakistani Taliban.
While that clears some things up, remember that there is still a middle-aged Tea Party supporter stalking the Nutmeg State, who is angry about the housing crisis and the health care bill, with his U.S. citizenship still in good standing, and probably linking up with our home-grown militias for more one-off attacks.
OK, so I'm the millionth person to make that joke in the last week. But it's more than a joke because not all the people making those wildly wrong claims about Shahzad's background and motivation were pundits or minor potentates like New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. The "one-off" attack line came from the highest official in the American government charged with preventing attacks exactly like Shahzad's: Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano.
Napolitano's rhetorical slip is a little too serious to be palmed off with some linguistic woolgathering. She has made clear repeatedly that she believes people with Gadsden flag bumper stickers are a greater threat to domestic tranquility than out-of-the-closet terrorists who receive training and material assistance in foreign terror centers. She has been wrong about this every time, and she will continue to be wrong until Americans actually die.
This is an obvious politicization of her office. (Napolitano's favored targets -- health care protesters and disgruntled veterans -- are distinguished not by their propensity toward violence but by their opposition to the administration.) But if you believe in the necessity of a Homeland Security Department, every day Napolitano is in charge of it creates an actual risk to life and property. Napolitano has a positive burden of proof: She needs to demonstrate some understanding of how to do her job, or she needs to be fired, for the security of the United States and the safety of the American people.

She can't be fired for simply repeating Axelrod's talking points.
Will Janet Napolitano Be Fired For Times Square Incompetence?
With the B. Hussein O. administration a promotion for her is in order. Maybe a bonus tucked into another healthcare amendment.
She is repeating Axelrod, and Axelrod is carrying out the whims of the Emperor Obama.
I hate to disagree with you but Obama isn't running sh*t. Not even his own household is under his control.
He's a puppet.
Can anybody imagine anything that could happen that wouldn't confirm what Tim Cavanaugh already believes?
Ginger scallion beef tripe
This recipe makes 4 servings.
Ginger Scallion Beef Tripe
- 1/2 kg beef tripe
- 1 piece of ginger (approx 2 inches x 1 inch in size)
- 1 tsp garlic, minced
- 1/2 - 1 tsp salt (depends on taste)
- 1 tsp sugar
- 2 scallions
Method
1. Bring a pot of water to a boil (use enough water to fully immerse the beef tripe). Quickly rinse the beef tripe under cold water, and boil the entire piece of beef tripe in the pot of boiling water for 20 minutes.
2. Drain the water, and run the beef tripe under cold water for a few seconds. Cut the beef tripe in 1/2 inch slices, and set aside in a bowl.
3. Allow the tripe to completely cool and dry. I usually like to cook this over 2 days. I boil the tripe in the evening, and then once it is cooled, I cover it with plastic wrap and throw it in the fridge until I'm ready to cook it the next day. It is best to stir fry the tripe when it is dry.
4. When ready to stir fry the beef tripe, cut the scallions and ginger into matchstick size pieces. Heat oil and garlic in a pan on maximum heat. Be sure not to burn the garlic. Throw in the beef tripe and ginger and stir fry for about 3-5 minutes. The beef tripe will release water which will form the sauce.
5. Add in the scallions, and stir fry for another 30 seconds. Transfer to a dish and serve.
Max is a Grade A moron!
Max like to throw spitballs. It's a pathetic, childish "pay attention to me" cry that have neither the psychology background nor the interest to deal with.
Max is MNG?
Bush was a hero for not stopping 9/11 and not catching anybody responsible.
Bush caught the master mind behind 9/11! Remember, Obama wants to put him on trial in New York.
Oh and this is post 9/11 so it's a little different when it comes to being prepared for an attack.
You know, I like tripe quite a bit. You wouldn't think that cow stomach would be so good...but it is.
Trippa ala Florentine is the bomb. Say what you will about Guidos, they can cook.
Yes. Yes we can. Last night I made filet mignon with pan-fried Swiss chard with garlic. Tasty.
Of course, if one man can create it, another can copy it. If you tried my Tortelloni en brodo con pesto, or my Macaroni alla chitarra con anatroccolo you would need a drool bucket.
I made Beanie Weenies...
Uh oh, be careful now. You might piss off Tim's legion of true corporatist believers. You're taking valuable time away from them, time they could be using hunting deadbeats.
I could go for some cheesecake right about now.
I actually could care less about that. In this column, about Napolitano, he is dead on. This administration is incompetent re foreign affairs and the prosecution of the war on terror (yes, i'll call it that). All you lemmings following BHO over the cliff, you'll do it without me....
I'm sure that if terrorists are caught, it is all Napolitano's fault. And if they succeed in blowing up a building, that is also Napolitano's fault. And if some American right wingers do in fact go and shoot up a church again, or kill some Mexicans or something, that also is Napolitano's fault.
Glenn Beck has lately stated he believes the administration desperately WANTS someone from the Tea Party movement or other conservative group to do something violent. He has lately been referencing Gandhi a great deal and has urged his fans to emulate the tactics of Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr.
He's right. The Democrats remember how Clinton made political hay of the Oklahoma bombing (along with the pseudo-epidemic of black church arsons). The trouble is, those damn jihadis keep reinforcing un-PC stereotypes about violent fanatic Muslims!
Every time anybody brings up the OKC bombing in any forum, it's worth repeating that it was NOT done by an "angry conservative" responding to anti-government rhetoric, but was a retaliation strike against what Clinton's jackbooted thugs did at Waco. Classic blowback because of an administration which overstepped its bounds.
Tara, thank you for reminding some of these morons what Mcveigh stated as his reason for the OKC bombing. Too many of these self professed "great minds" are too stupid, opinionated or lazy to engage in learning the facts.
Which leads us to rule #1 of the leftist approach to terrorism.
Terrorists that can be at least indirectly friendly to leftist causes, i.e., jihadists, greens, reds, misguided 'idealistic youths' - have root causes to be studied and appeased.
All other terrorists are to be hunted down, killed, and used to smear the political opposition as a good measure.
The trouble is, those damn jihadis keep reinforcing un-PC stereotypes about violent fanatic Muslims!
That violent fanatic Muslims are violent and fanatic is no stereotype, but a tautology.
If, on the other hand, you're claiming validation for the stereotype that Muslims in general are violent and fanatic, go fuck yourself.
Tulpa,
Nice attempt to set up a straw man.
Since no one claimed that all muslims are violent jihadi terrorists why don't you go f*** yourself instead.
Brilliant!
I'll wait for bunky to lookup "tautology" now.
J-No will not be fired from her job despite her idiotic, political preoccupation with tea partiers.
Secondly. The Times Square incident demonstrates how difficult it is to deal with a terrorist who is determined.
Leaving aside the question of whether or not there should be a no-fly list at all, easily the most ridiculous information to come out of this is how completely inept the government is at managing the list.
This is 2010 and J-No is using a mimeograph machine to make flyers which the airlines pick up once a day so as to update their own records.
I'll bet that everyone in America assumed that as the no-fly list was updated the changes were automatically and immediately updated in the airline computers as well.
Welcome back! I have not seen you here in quite some time!
The demonstrated incompetence of the DHS in mananging the No-Fly list hasn't stoppped the NY Times from calling for denying 2nd Amendment rights to everybody who's name appears on it.
From the linked editorial:
To the contrary, Senator John McCain and other members of the gun lobby's cohort are pressing for legislation to strip local taxpayers in Washington of such basic gun controls as owner registration and a ban on semiautomatic battlefield rifles
So, now they're not just "assault weapons", but "semiautomatic battlefield rifles"? No commander in their right mind with send soldiers onto a battlefield with semiautomatic rifles (with the possible exception of some sniper rifles, where a high rate of fire really isn't the point).
The M-1 Garand, M-1 Carbine, and M-14 are all semi-auto battlefield rifles and were the standard issue battlefield weapons during WWII, Korea, and the early part of Vietnam, and there are millions still in existence in this country (A Garand in very good condition goes for over $1000 right now). BTW, the current standard issue U.S. military rifle, the M-16, has a selector switch which offers the option of auto or semi-auto fire. Get your facts straight.
Since the standard issue weapon has been an M-16 since the early days of Vietnam, referring to the M-1 or M-14 is rather pathetic.
Get YOUR facts straight. The M-1 Carbine is not a rifle. Rifles and carbines are two seperate categories of weapons.
the M-14 came in full auto...
There was a version of the M-14 that came in full automatic. It was pretty much uncontrolable due to heavy recoil causing the barrel to rise with every shot. However the standard semi-automatic M-14 wasn't a bad rifle unless you dropped it !!! The flash supressor had a tendancy to get misaligned under those circumstances, resulting in the bullet being deflected away from the point you were aiming at... not a good thing.
The original M-14 is a select fire rifle.
Some M-14s with the selector removed were given to shooting organizations and police departments, most of which had been recalled, since they were technically still MGs.
Current military inventory of M-14s consists of both select fire M-14s and purpose made M-21 semi-auto sniper rifles.
Civilian M-14 copies have never had full-auto parts installed, and are thus not NFA defined machineguns.
I always like it when an ignorant pantywaist tries to speak with authority on the subject of anything military.
p.s. You are, sir, an idiot.
and you, sir, are an ass...
Let me restate for clarity that I was trying to communicate: No current commander of troops fighting wars right now would send their troops into battle with rifles that can only be fired semi-auto.
That is, it is an oxymoron to refer to "semi-automatic battlefield rifles", and the NY Times used that incorrect wording to imply that the gun lobby wants to arm civilians with weapons that would be used by the U.S. military on a battlefield. They were distorting the facts to push their anti-Second Amendment agenda.
Now, I think military-grade weaponry SHOULD be available to any law-abiding civilian that wants it, but that's because I believe in following the 2nd Amend. as written. I am, in a word, not a person the NY Times can persuade with their editorials.
Unless one is firing a machinegun, the vast majority of soldiers are using semi automatic selection. It is more efficient, more accurate, and 30 rounds, your average M4/M16 magazine cartridge capacity, doesn't go very far in full auto mode.
Don't assume.
But nearly all rifles still have a full auto selection, regardless of whether it's used or not. So his point still stands.
Sorry, it does not have a full auto. It switch alows semi-auto and a 3 round burst. Much more accurate. However, it is still an automatic rifle.
30 rounds, using 3-shot bursts (as is how an automatic rifle should be used) is 10 targets riddled with holes.
you are not, I think, a person who can per persuaded of anything that is not already in line with your own narrow perspective... not an admirable trait.
Only police and military should be allowed to carry weapons. End of story. PERIOD.
Betti, I'm sorry. You should move to Britain if those are your sentiments. Because the US Constitution, the supreme law of the land which has not been amended on this point, says otherwise. As do all the Founding Fathers.
Oh, boy, do burgeoning police states love that attitude.
@Betti: I agree! Of course, we live in a world where banning guns to prevent their use in violent crimes is demonstrably impossible. (See: every nation and state where it has ever been attempted.)
That being the case, we must sadly soldier on in our imperfect world where people are responsible for themselves and their own behavior.
ah, but soldiering on with full knowledge that what we are doing is self-destructive greatly changes our use of said weapons - in contrast to those who soldier on as "onward christian soldiers" with god on their side...
Betti you are obviously a pacifist or a gun control freak. You are welcome to your beliefs. However; I think your beliefs are incredably niave, but that's just my opinion. You may get more sympathy at MoveOn dot org or the Huffington post.
I think Betti is just another iteration of the troll, Max.
Yes, Betti, and if the sort of criminal element that is likely to use a gun to harm somebody were to ever break into your home it is absolutely unfathomable that they'd ever have obtained a gun illegally to use in their criminal pursuits, therefore you would not be obliged with owning one with which to defend yourself.
Besides, if that almost absurdly unlikely scenario were to ever occur (a criminal illegally obtaining a gun? Unthinkable!) you could always just call up the police so that they may respond in 8 or 9 minutes with guns of their own.
Yep, your best method of self defense is to have someone else do it for you!
""Only police and military should be allowed to carry weapons. End of story.""
It would be hard to cut your veggies with a spoon. A knife is a weapon too.
The same article also takes issue with the 1st Amendment:
To protect its clout in the political arena, the gun lobby is challenging legislation needed to contain an expected flood of unregulated attack ads in this year's federal elections. Corporations, unions and advocacy groups were given this laissez-faire spending freedom in a misguided decision by the Supreme Court.
the New York Times Corporation does not like competition.
It's amazing to me how there's no indication whatsoever in that editorial that there happens to be an overwhelmingly-Democratic controlled government at the moment.
It's just all victimized simpering, from beginning to end.
true that! the gun-loving, flag-wrapping, lobby lost the last election... sweet Jesus - there is a god...
sweet Jesus
Don't you actually mean sweet Obama?
If people on the no-fly list are so dangerous that they should be disarmed, why not just relocate them to an internment camp in California's Owens Valley so that they can be disarmed more easily?
Only police and military should be allowed to carry weapons. End of story. PERIOD.
Betti,
You should be incarcerated for treason, sedition and crimes against the constution...PEROID.
...not to mention just plain being a dumbass who simply Can't Understand Normal Thinking.
"Can't Understand Normal Thinking"
Interesting acronym, MT.
bet you are a lot of fun at parties... and the correct spelling is constitution... [who is the dumb ass?]
Because we all know the police and military would never kill anyone, right ?
Leavenworth must be empty of inmates, right ?
Well, now that we know you don't have enough hair on your little girl pussy to defend the 2nd Amendment, what other parts of the Constitution do you want to do away with?
that's just rude....
Always nice to see you posting hereabouts, TWC.
Hi over here TWC! Hi PIRS!
All this will be remembered when the keg finally blows. It won't be pretty.
Now why would people be worried about Tea Baggers, Hmmmmmmmmmm. Maybe i should read your comment again.
Fetch me a slice of cheesecake, bitch.
I don't know that this reflects Napolitano's ineptitude as much as the absurd mandate of the office that she holds, which somehow manages to be extremely broad and extremely ambiguous at the same time.
I don't.
Ain't
Gonna.
Happen.
At least not until we have a body count in the 3 digit range.
To be honest, I don't for a moment think that securing the United States from terrorist attack is even possible. It would be refreshing to hear somebody in DC admit that.
That wouldn't mean anything. All she'd do is take "responsibility" and move on. No one would quit or get fired for incompetence, nothing would change.
As far as I'm concerned politicians lost their "I take responsibility" privileges back under Clinton. They spit the words out and assume that means the situation is resolved.
If a politician wants to "take responsibility" he/she should resign immediately and get a real job. Otherwise they're just talking smack.
But they can't get real jobs, which is why they work in government in the first place.
Exactly. Responsibility is not the get out of criticism free card politicians seem to think it is.
I still chuckle recalling Hilary Clinton, during the 2008 primary season, responding to a journalist criticizing her Iraq war vote by stamping her feet and saying "I took responsibility!"
are the two of you in kindergarten?
Why? Are your parents looking to move to a new school district?
After Timothy McVeigh and Joe Stack, perhaps Tim Cavanaugh ought to be a little more forgiving of Napolitano...and let's recall the first reports were of a white guy seen near the car changing his shirt and running off.
FAIL
There are more "white" Muslims than "white" Americans in the world.
You're leaking like a siv...Not too many white Muslims in America, last time I checked. Get out much?
Joe Stack, the Marx-quoting capitalism-hater?
Michael,
You obviously misunderstood Stack. He was a right winger. He did not quote Marx except to sarcastically talk about the "communist" creed and how the bankers have a creed that is just as bad. He did not fly his plane into a bank. He flew it into the IRS building, which I don't know too many commies who think the IRS is the building to fly one's plane into...
But go ahead Michael. Keep up the theme of any bad person must be a leftist, even if they are a right winger. You know, like Jonah Goldberg and Glenn Beck do. I can't wait for 40 years from now when their successors say, "Well those guys, well, they were really left wing with all their attacks on institutions and such..."
Right this minute, how many more potentially violent "right-wingers" are there compared to violent left-wingers?
Worldwide, or just on our soil?
C'mon, Mitchell. Spit out some figures that aren't biased.
The stupidity is thinking that partisan politics matter in these events to someone other than the arm chair quarterback.
So the Marx-quoting denouncer of capitalism, wealth, the rich, the "presidential puppet GW Bush and his cronies," religion in general, and the Catholic church in particular...was actually a right winger.
Have you considered that, like most inchoate left wingers, he was simply too stupid to see the contradiction in hating the IRS and coercive taxation?
http://www.businessinsider.com.....sto-2010-2
There's a reason why all the liberal pundits were asking "Whither Peace?" and decrying "hate" in general when they read his manifesto. If Joe Stack wasn't a left winger, Obama and the poodle media would be talking about him and what he represents every day through November and Janet wouldn't be trying to find someone else for him to talk about instead.
I guess the same people that define Islam as "peace loving" also define White as "nordic". Until we quit dancing around the maypole and face the fact that the majority of Muslims, their clerics, and the governments that represent them, hate us, we are never going to be able to deal with this problem.
have you read any of the comments on this site? who are the haters? makes me ashamed to be an American...
I'm kind of ashamed that you are an American, too.
Nothing about the fetid belching of that fucking disgusting totalitarian, Ghouliani?
I'm disappointed.
I good, I thought you were going to go with Jewliani.
crap typo
Giuliani hasn't been in charge of anything since December 31, 2001. So what makes him important enough that his "fetid belching" should be other than ignored?
The demonstrated incompetence of the DHS in mananging the No-Fly list hasn't stoppped the NY Times from calling for denying 2nd Amendment rights to everybody who's name appears on it.
I, for one, am grateful that the New York Times is willing to my thinking for me. What time is American Idol on?
Obama is scared shitless he will lose white women still mad that Hillary got beat. He won't be firing Napolitano come hell or high water.
Napolitano is a woman?
I thought she represented the Lollipop Guild, the Lollipop Guild, the Lollipop Guild...
In a speech Saturday at the Eisenhower Library in Abilene, Kansas, Secretary Gates said: "In each instance we must ask: First, is this respectful of the American taxpayer at a time of economic and fiscal duress? And second, is this activity or arrangement the best use of limited dollars, given the pressing needs to take care of our people, win the wars we are in, and invest in the capabilities necessary to deal with the most likely and lethal future threats?"
Christian Science Monitor
"Respectful of the American taxpayer."
Hahahahaha, good one, Mister SecDef!
right... now you are going to hate on a holdover appointee from the Bush administration - who, by the way, happens to exemplify the type of pragmatism that is actually responsible for the positive accomplishments of the United States.
Just look at her "record" in Arizona. It speaks volumes of donothingness. So, she was picked for more of that. Now that AZ has had to do something after she's gone everyone is up in arms. She is what the administration is, a do-nothing. Hear Holder's remarks today? It's all geared to delay and confuse. You voted for "change" and got zero. Hope you have a memory. Most U.S. citizens don't.
The Obama administration is a do nothing administration? I fucking wish!
ahhhh, don't you though... getting plastered in the last election wasn't any fun was it? dude - defeat is supposed to taste like a sh5t taco...
Nepo is a joke, but to be honest, though I have complaints about Holder, but he is competent enough to hold that position.
And ditto what Enyap said.
Mexico is an Naco-terrorist State on our open borders and far more dangerous to the USA than Iraq & Afghanistan combined!
Our border states are overwhelmed, overmanned, outgunned, & overran from the invasion by Illegal Aliens & Armed Banditos, killing Citizens and Law enforcement personnel and our Federal government does nothing.
Criminals & Illegal Aliens march in our streets all across the land demanding their rights, demanding we cede this Nation to them, riot, wave their flags and spit on American, its Government, Laws, Constitution, and Citizens, and our Federal Government defends their rights to do so.
Our neighborhoods are flooded with gangs, graffito & trash, Mexican flags fly in barrios coast to coast , Barrios where none dare go but Hispanic, our ER rooms destroyed, Hospitals closed, Schools overwhelmed, 100,s billions spent on Welfare for the invaders, States bankrupted, Americans Citizens by the 10,of thousands are Robbed, Raped and Slaughtered & our Federal Government goes nothing!
The Presidents, past & present and most of the Politicians in Wash, DC plus Mayors in our sanctuary cities from coast to coast should to be arrested and tried for Treason!
THEY TOOK UR JERBS
DEY TURK DOR JORBS!!!!
Misspelled 'nacho' there, blackie. FIFY
Mexico is now the dreaded nacho-narco-terrorist state.
I don't know why blackie is picking on Naco. It's a neat little town
If you ever find yourselves in the area, It's got a great little bar worth checking out
Our border states are overwhelmed, overmanned, outgunned, & overran from the invasion by Illegal Aliens & Armed Banditos
On the positive side, the bandolero, sombrero, and cigarello industries are booming.
With their chilling, alien calls of "??ndale, ?ndale! ?Arriba, Arriba!", these brown outsiders won't be satisfied until every pure caucasoid virgin has smoked "marihuana" and been seduced into white slavery. Also, a chihuahua once tried to bite my finger.
Shut the fuck up lonewacko
I live in Houston and regularly see peaceful people driving Mexican-tagged cars...shopping. You're a moron.
And yet El Paso is one of the safer big cities in the country...weird. Or maybe you're just wrong.
November 2010; November 2012
Have faith; look forward and onward.
Today, Mexico's undeclared war on America moves with quickening speed & increasing Violence.
They realize American is weak and without the will or desire by our Corrupt/Lawless Politicians to protect this Nation and its Citizens!
Mexico,s modern day General Calderon is not content with just retaking the Southwest. He invades all American states by the largest Invasion of any Nation, at any time in History, by any means, anywhere in the world!
This invasion is encouraged, abetted and organized by the Mexican state and supported by all citizens in Mexican society, a great purge of Undesirables, a tidal wave of Uneducated, Prolific breeding poverty from Mexico to American tax payers!.
Calderon provides his 'Criminals & Uneducated peons ,with maps, water, provisions and aid to invade America's border & subvert its Laws & Constitution & bankrupt it providing for the Uneducated, horde of Third World Rejects!
Our President & U.S. Congress aids, abets and encourages this invasion by failing to defend our borders, by providing 100.s of billions in benefits to the invaders & by Promising them Amnesty & American Citizenship as a reward for their Invasion & for committing numerous felonies against American Citizens!
Any other Nation in the world would consider an Invasion aided, abetted, organize and promoted by a foreign POWER to be an Act of War!
Are our Politicians are too Political Correct, Weak, Corrupt and Spineless to protect American Citizens!
This refusal by our Politicians, Pass & Present, to abide by our Constitution against Invasion, enforce our Laws & Honor their Oath of Office by defending American Citizens & this Nation from Invasion is Treason. Pure & Simple!
THEY TOOK UR JERBS
Shut the fuck up, lonewacko.
Pure & Simple!
You certainly are.
AY TERK ER JARBS!!!!
She was picked because she was a woman from Arizona. As in all affirmative action hirings competence is secondary.
Well, this is the affirmative action administration.
Government doesn't care about competence. All government cares about is power. The only way Obama will fire Napolitano is if he thinks she's costing him votes.
This invasion is encouraged, abetted and organized by the Mexican state and supported by all citizens in Mexican society, a great purge of Undesirables, a tidal wave of Uneducated, Prolific breeding poverty from Mexico to American tax payers!.
Moar caps, plz.
Can I haz for catwithahomo?
Moar references to the Kochopus and less caps, plz.
Shit, I meant less spaces.
If the terrorist do attack Wash. DC as threaten by a terrorist leader in Pakistan, it is far better that our Corrupt Politicians pay the price than Innocent American Citizens.
The Politicians of both parties have for years governed like they were the rulers and American Citizens were their serfs! Their priorities have been Self first, Lobbyist next, Party next, with unbelievable corruption threw in for good measure, and far down the line somewhere is the welfare of American citizens and the future of this Nation.
Most of the Politicians have aided, abide & encouraged the largest invasion of any Nation, at any time, by any means in the history of the world, while ignoring Article IV Section IV of our Constitution against invasion, the rule of Law, and their Oath of office!
An invasion that is costing more American lives every year than terrorist have killed in the last 20 years of both Military and Citizens combined!
An invasion that is destroying our schools, medical, social welfare net, Culture and costing tax payers 100,s of billions to provide Welfare, Schooling, Medical, Prison cells Etc. for the millions of invading criminals and uneducated peons.
We have allowed the largest transfer of poverty in the world to take place from the American hating Nations on our borders to be transferred to this Nations tax payers. Where the invading horde continues the same corruption, practices and breeding that created the poverty and misery in their home countries, that they are now fleeing!
The future of this Nation is an over populated Third World Cesspool modeled on Mexico! Then it will not be necessary to outsource jobs or bring in more Slave labor for jobs that cannot be outsourced, because citizens will be forced to work long hours for starvation wages and we can compete with China, India, Mexico & other Third World Nations.
Someone didn't get a Mother's Day card today.
Only because some filthy Mexican stole it out of the mail and pawned it for some tequila and nachos.
WAKE UP PEOPLE!!
"They come into this country from the jungles and from trees,
traitors in the parliament give them a better deal, take the nation's money to cater to their needs, they all accept the charity, then bite the hand that feeds!"
Gotta love historical deja vu. All this bombastic immigration fear mongering makes the goofy early 80's British white nationalist Oi! almost seem relevant again...throw in claims that it's all a commie plot and we've got Hail the New Dawn!
The real problem is that no policing authority can prevent the Shahzads of the world. Believing so is just a huge waste of money and does nothing more than create a false sense of security.
Janet Napolitano should try a career more in tune with her skill set - motel housekeeping.
No, you can't be so hideous that you scare off the customers. I mean how is a guy supposed to get turned on in the middle of the afternoon with a prostitute if he sees Napolitano?
How about rubbing my feet?
Then it will not be necessary to outsource jobs or bring in more Slave labor for jobs that cannot be outsourced, because citizens will be forced to work long hours for starvation wages and we can compete with China, India, Mexico & other Third World Nations.
Woohoo!
*adjusts monocle*
Obama, Napolitano (The system worked), Holder, Brennan, they all think the real problem in regard to terror is the old and handicapped folks attending the Tea Parties and our returning hero vets. They think the Hero Navy Seals that they put on trial because a murdering terrorist, in perfect health, said they hit him are the problem! Brennan today said "They were good at preventing terrorist acts, yet we know the only reason their aren't hundreds of dead Americans after the Underwear bomber and the Time Square bomber is because we've had the tremendous luck to have incompetent terrorists. They and the Democrats were so despearate and hopeful that a Tea Party person planted the Times Square bomb that you could feel it. Imagine their disappointment that it was Islamic Terror again???? Nobody will be fired! The arrogant left wing Elites don't care!!!
But, "the system worked," every bit as well as it did over Detroit on Xmas Day.
And, even if the system failed, all we would have is another "man caused disaster" (a rather apt description of the entire Obama administration).
And, when (not if) the system does fail, all we would have is another non-Overseas contingency operation - not dissimilar from Ft. Hood.
We're in grave, grave danger while ANY of these clueless clowns remain in office.
"grave danger"?
is there any other kind?
DUde that is making some very good sense to me dude.
Lou

The problem with Napolitano's "one-off" comment is that it was a lie. She didn't have the foggiest idea who did it or why. Saying nothing at all or "I don't know" is a sound, clear-headed starting point when that's the way it is. Her boss shoots his mouth off all the time about stuff he knows nothing about, so there's no point in firing her, she'd just be replaced by the same.
Well, she's a fucking bigot, isn't she?
The "car-bomb"'s main munitions was in the form of fertilizer, but the guy got the wrong kind of fertilizer.
So even before we knew anything else, we knew this was the work of a rank amateur.
I never understood why leftist were so afraid of small government types. Just because I have distain for government doesn't mean I want to commit an act of harm against it. It would be like if I went up to an environmentalist who hated modern industry and just assumed that they would blow up a gas line?oh wait let me try again. It would be like if I went up to an animal rights activists and assumed that because they hate animal testing facilities that they would fire bomb them?ok ok let me try this again?
this article is one more vote for changing the name of this place to suck.com.
cavanaugh should stick to criticizing the creation of the DHS in the first place, because anything beyond that is obviously too mentally strenuous.
water the tree of liberty...so on and so forth. stupid enough to blame everything on the puppet and nothing on the puppet master. smart enough to know how to work a gun.
and people like you are partially responsible for the misdirected anger.
because gubmint is inherently bad, right, lads?
Aww...the little national liberal can't handle an opposing viewpoint? How about posting up a yummy recipe for us, like you ladyboys do over at DKos when stuffing your fingers in your ears no longer works??
Aww...the little national liberal can't handle an opposing viewpoint? How about posting up a yummy recipe for us, like you ladyboys do over at DKos when stuffing your fingers in your ears no longer works??
That is some fairly devious retconning, MNG. Some of us would like to know where you learned your techniques.
because gubmint is inherently bad, right, lads?
Go read Nock. It's the State that's bad, not government.
"and people like you are partially responsible for the misdirected anger."
What misplaced anger? How about we do a comparison of how many people were killed by the state in the 20th century vs the private sector.
Oooh, look! It's the socialists' favorite Straw man! "Anyone who opposes socialism must be opposed to all government!". Forgive me, the rest of us have actually graduated from college and that particular straw boogeyman doesn't scare us. Makes you look like an asshat, though.
Homeland security is one of the few functions the federal government performs, that is actually mentioned in the Constitution, and that is morally justifiable. After all, we do need police and courts to protect us from pickpockets - who in the absence of a welfare state, would be people like you.
Organizing and providing coordination between the various federal police forces - which are by and large legitimate - is also legitimate.
While the choice of name was unfortunate, there's nothing wrong with DHS in principle.
Sorry, but the Founders would have shat in their silken breeches if they were alive to witness the birth of DHS.
I once accidentally stumbled into a lesbian bar, and, I swear, there was Janet Neopolitanio tending bar. I didn't mind her obvious sexual preferance (she ignored me for a good ten minutes while she attempted to maintain eye contact with a very hot young woman at the bar). She couldn't get my order straight. I've never before seen such a clumsy, pathetic person of either sexual orientation, male or female, so how can this ignoramus possibly protect us?
Well, duh. 😉
That this administration sees people who want the Constitution to be the guidelines through which we are governed, points to the serious bias and the resultant flaws in allowing them to have this power. It appears that this administration would rather deal with the radical Islamist attitudes of Iran's president than address egregious actions taken to dissolve the rights of Americans by members of the government in Washington. They ignore the opinions from outside the Beltway as ignorant, dismiss complaints as "uninformed" and forget problems that still exist in the economy, jobs, immigration and an historic flood in the middle of America under the cover of an oil spill whose cause is still undetermined. And they wonder why we oppose them.
@Black Saint
That the United States should have anyone denied a job because they didn't speak Spanish is an outrage. And yet in places like Miami, San Diego, San Antonio that is the reality. I have had Asian, Anglo and African american students tell me that Hispanic managers and owners will nto hire them because they don't speak Spanish. And yet we must offer Spanish language subtitles for all English TV programming. So how come Univision and Telemundo aren't sending English language subtitles? Parity? I think not.
And here's another question-if in order to become a citizen, you must demonstrate an understanding of spoken and written English, and only citizens can vote, then why are we spending millions and killing millions of trees for the paper to print ballots in every imaginable language?
I just inherited a cat from my mom. I'm disappointed in this cat. The cat, Sheeba, is not very good mouser. My mom's previous cat, Reck, would bring dead mice, dead birds, and roadkill squirrels to our back doorstep at around breakfast time.
Uh, sometimes people speak Spanish, and companies want to be able to sell to them. Surely you can't deny their right to market to Spanish (or Chinese, etc)-speaking customers via employees who know that language?
Damnit, I want freedom for everyone! Except for all those people whose lives I want to direct in minute detail, because I know better!
Bullshit. If they can't speak English then send their sorry asses back to Mexico or whereever the hell they came from.
If they can't speak English then send their sorry asses back to Mexico or whereever the hell they came from.
We're going to miss you JohnD
Dregs? Is that Bloodsucking Leeches?
Are you serious? No matter what happens, these right wing zealots will find any way to try and diminish the administration. At the end of the day, the guy was caught (ultimately by Homeland Security Agents) within two and half days - he is in custody - there have been 8 arrests already in Pakistan - he is singing like a canary - and this person wants her fired? You really diminish your cause by turning everything into an attack. I think I remember the right called it Anti-Bush hysteria when it came from the other side.
Joe, that was a really good swing. I mean it, a really good one. But next time you see a pitch you like start your swing before you hear the ball hit the catcher's glove.
Yeah! The fact that this guy made an Epic FAIL of a bomb, the only factor mitigating this attack a failurecand not a catastrophe, is all because of the competence of Nappy and DHS.
Good try.
And if McCain had won, Joe?
Some of us wouldn't care either way - they'd both suck.
Apparently, we must kiss of His Ass, lest we be mistaken for seditious racists.
""Are you serious? No matter what happens, these right wing zealots will find any way to try and diminish the administration. ""
It won't be long before we return to the days where left wing zealots will find any way to try and diminish the republican administration.
Since Obama is the U.S.'s crappy response to the Bush admin, it will be interesting to see the U.S.'s crappy response to the Obama admin in 2012.
Good points, Vic. Dems are probably preparing for the day they can switch back to being the Party of No.
I'm starting to think their is one single obstructionist playbook that gets handed to the team that loses.
They will go from yes we can, to no you can't.
Fired for incompetence? Are you kidding me......if they went down that road the entire Obama administration would be fired.
The people in government should realize that the best way to avoid appearing incompetent is to limit the amount of work you're expected to do in the first place. Shed some of that power, fellas, and all of a sudden you'll be accomplishing everything with which you're tasked. Brilliant!
As governor of Arizona, would Napolitano have signed the immigration bill? Given her tendency to think tea-partiers are the threat, I hardly think she would have. Ariz. is better off since she left.
Napolitano would only be fired if she had a competent boss who actually cared about the security of America. She's pretty safe.
If she were to be fired, I could easily wear two hats.
obama will never fire Incompetano or anyone else. That would be admitting he was wrong. His ego will never allow that.
Hopefully she will catch blood poison from dining at the Y.
Interesting comment about the Gadsden flag. You can buy Gadsden flag hats, shirts, etc at the Minute Man National Historic Park visitor center near where I live in Concord, MA. Are the park staff all going to be arrested for "encouraging terrorism"?
White House seeks well-qualified help for Homeland Security Department.
No experience necessary.
Leftist Ideologues encouraged to apply.
(Janet saw this ad while working as a bartender in a gay cowgirl bar named "Britches" - and the rest is history.)
Has anyone noticed the complete lack of intelligence in her eyes alone...like a fish and it shows in her actions repeatedly.
All the evidence so far is that what'shisname had nobody working with him inside the United States and also had no explosives or covert operations training. His plan failed miserably.
So yes, it's a one-off, even if some Pakistani Taliban types gave him a few thousand dollars in cash and a pamphlet on how to make a carbomb.
Spin.
Why do the most interesting posts attract a cohort of complete fucknuts to post racist/crazy leftist garbage?
By the way, a disgruntled veteran opened fire at Fort Hood and killed a while bunch of soldiers. It's true he was Muslim, but he was also a disgruntled veteran.
He was active duty, not a veteran.
Stop with your semantics BS. I mean they're just words...it's not like they actually mean something.
Should Janet Napolitano just kill herself?
Yes, as soon as possible, for everyone's good.
Wow, where the fuck is this story linked at?
This thread is chock full 'o crazy. It's like the freepers and the kos people mated and created some sort of frankencommenter. A beast of unimaginable xenophobia, whose shortsightedness is only surpassed by its indomitable stupidity.
Hier,

Sorry, too lazy for embedded links.
Can anyone explain why the fuck Napolitano has been in Louisiana? Is she trying to repel the invading terrorist oil slick? Will she be at a state fair next. policing condiment usage?
"Sir, these nachos have an inadequate amount of cheese on them. We're shutting down your food stand and you're coming with us for questioning, as you fit the profile of a tea party member."
Can anyone explain why the fuck Napolitano has been in Louisiana?
You'd have to George W. Bush that one. He was nervous after 911 and named a new government entity "The Department of Homeland Security". Whatever. Everyone was nervous after 911. But he had plenty of time to think about that and never said "oops".
Bush opposed the creation of DHS.
Yes, seems he was against it before he was for it.
I guess flip-flops are the bipartisan foowear these days.
Not enough for a veto.
An oil slick = threat to homeland security?
Even Bush wasn't that micromanagey.
She's keeping an eye out for terrorists. They might be swimming to shore below the oil so as to not be spotted by satellites and planes overhead. IT COULD HAPPEN!
Dumb ass, he said the oil slick was a threat to national security, not because he believed it would breed terrorists, but because having a gigantic oil slick poisoning an entire region of your nation is in fact a threat to national security.
No, atheist, it's an excuse by way of spinning oil slick = terroristic threat.
DemocraticUnderground is over ===> thataway. You would be happier there with your trust-liberal-government buddies.
You're imagining statements that Obama never made. He said the gigantic oil slick was a threat to national security. He was right.
Our author, while astute, mistakenly assumes that the Nomenklatura cares what happens to the rest of us.
Napolitano's rhetorical slip is a little too serious to be palmed off with some linguistic woolgathering.
Wanna bet?
Deterrence is the best policy to use against Islamic Extremist. It has to be applied to the Islamic countries in the Middle East. They need to understand that their existence depends on eliminating the funding and moral support for attacks on the west. Deterrence worked successfully in the Cold War. It will work against the jihadis if Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the Gulf States and Iran understand that we will retaliate to these kind of attacks.
""Deterrence is the best policy to use against Islamic Extremist. It has to be applied to the Islamic countries in the Middle East.""
Shouldn't we start by not try to defend one of them when they attack each other? We are spending a shit load of money defending them from themselves. A stance that got a sucky President re-elected in 2004.
This is just proof of the futility of the way Congress approaches problems like 9/11. They rearranged the deck chairs and made this a prime job for bureaucrats rather than a nimble, effective strike force able to penetrate terrorist groups and bring them down. The problem is that had Bush created his own team like that, he would have been impeached, and even if Congress had authorized it, the courts would have nullified it.
Every effective weapon is capable of being misused, but the alternative, disarmament, is suicidal. Witness the no-firearms policy at Ft. Hood.
I don't know whether we lost trust in each other because of subversion or paranoia, but as long as we don't trust those we've chosen to protect us, we won't be effectively protected. We'll always some variant of Janet Napolitano, instead.
Screw the people who're supposed to protect us. Give the firearms to individuals.
even if she is fired, there's a new fat lesbo slobqunt front and center - Elena the bloody abortion supreme court judge - not a peep so far from "Republicans".
Wilders?
Can you say Janet "Brownie" Napolitano?
Incompetance seems to be a prerequisite to serve in the Obama administration. She is a disgrace, and should have been fired after the Christmas bomber attempt. The Obama's failure to recognize that terrorists are hell bent on attacking, and killing Americans, is made only worse by their constant denegrating those people who excercise their rights to free speech, and those who served in the military as the one's that need to be "watched" and labled as most likely terrorists. This administration has been a total disgrace, and will soon be flushed starting in November.
Incompetance seems to be a prerequisite to serve in the Obama administration.
I am heartened by the times square attempt. My optimistic assessment is that the Predator is doing its job and that most of the competent bombers are dead. Don't tell that to Janet.
How dare you malign a great band with that hideous and revolting poster.
Will this assh0le fake president be fired for incompetence?
Americans DID die last year on American soil...14 of them in 2 incidents...32 wounded...how soon we forget.
As long a government position exists, the probability of it being filled by a plus-sized incompetent lesbian approaches 1.
Enter Kagan
It is helpful to read these comments as a reminder that libertarians are nothing but a bunch of bigots pretending to care about "the size of government".
Overly-sensitive, aren't you.
I'm normally sensitive, Mr. FIFY.
"She needs to demonstrate some understanding of how to do her job,..." Where on earth did you get a silly idea like that? Your assumption is astounding. Good grief, no one in the obaMadministration has been required to demonstrate any understanding that they know how to do their jobs, up to and including the ustawannabe POTUS. (I think he used to want to be POTUS...now that he's discovering it's like a real job, not so much)
Janet Napolitano, as former Governor of Arizona, has MORE executive experience than Obama. They both need to be fired! They are making our country less safe. It's only a matter of time until some terrorist is successful.
""Janet Napolitano, as former Governor of Arizona, has MORE executive experience than Obama.""
So did Bush jr.
Napolitano, Chuck Schumer, Bloomberg were all spewing the same one-off, lone-wolf, upset over the health care bill BS, and no one bought it for a second. The perp wasn't the only one who had the wrong kind of fertilizer.
So, I guess Mr. Cavanaugh is trying to remove the last vestiges of belief that libertarians are separate from conservatives. If that is his aim, then he's doing a fantastic job.
The "dregs" indeed. You title this piece "Will Janet Napolitano Be Fired For Times Square Incompetence?" yet give ZERO evidence of any incompetence on her part in relation to the Times Square bombing case. I hardly see how saying that, at the time, there was no evidence that shows the bombing was anything more than a "one off" points to her being incompetent.
You say "She has made clear repeatedly that she believes people with Gadsden flag bumper stickers are a greater threat to domestic tranquility than out-of-the-closet terrorists who receive training and material assistance in foreign terror centers." While it's clear you're missing a word, you're also missing any a clear explanation as to why you think it's "clear" she thinks groups like the Michigan militia currently under trial are a greater threat to the U.S. than Islamic terrorists. You cite the brief from last year outlining the growing threat of such militia groups, but the act of acknowledging a threat does not mean you think it's the greatest threat out there.
For a post cited on "reason.com" there's very poor reasoning behind your argument.
Tom, I guess he considers his audience frightened and stupid enough not to need any evidence at all. What's hilarious is that, judging from the rest of the comments, he's right.
One example:
http://www.scribd.com/doc/1329.....t-20Feb09-
Or, go to the SPLC website and behold such terroristic threats as Ron Paul and the Campaign for Liberty, listed on the same site with actual racist and/or generally loathsome groups.
Or... you could just watch MSNBC. They'll tell you there are more angry white-trash violence-mongers than there are any other group of potential troublemakers.
And Napolitano thinks that way, too.
'The Libertarian Guy', you seem to think the SPLC is incorrect. Yet you offer nothing in the way of proof.
For a post cited on "reason.com" there's very poor reasoning behind your argument.

DRINK!
Perfect.
Nappy was a looser here in Arizona. So you were expecting exactly what from her?
The Diversity Hire wo'nt fire his diveristy hire.
This woman is an imbecile. Unfortunately it will probably take deaths of innocent Americans to force her off to the glue factory.
One bright spot today: At least she's not going to the Supreme Court... this time.
dwarf lesbian farm animals are currently in favor. maybe she will be promoted to scotus
