RFK Jr.'s Wild Week
Plus: The National Guard standoff in Chicago, navigating debates when you’re outnumbered, and a court ruling that could upend Trump’s tariff agenda.
This week, editors Katherine Mangu-Ward and Matt Welch are joined by Senior Producer Zach Weissmueller and Senior Editor Robby Soave to unpack RFK Jr.'s tumultuous week at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), from leadership shake-ups and changes to COVID-19 vaccine access to mounting backlash from employees and former agency directors. They examine what this chaos says about the politicization of public health and the risks of concentrating so much authority in a single agency.
The conversation then shifts into the brewing fight over deploying the National Guard in Chicago, weighing the constitutional questions and the practical realities of federal intervention in local crime. A listener question prompts a discussion around strategies for holding your ground when you're outnumbered in a debate. The panel then weighs in on a federal court ruling on Trump's tariffs, what it could mean for trade policy, and how it intersects with the broader libertarian legal movement.

The CDC killed its credibility in 2020. There is no possible way to damage them further.
No way to mask their poor performance.
Their mask protects me from my poor performance . My mask protects them from their poor performance. Or maybe I got that backwards. But the bottom line is you want to kill my grandma. You bastard.
Only to MAGAs. The rest of us saw the CDC doing a good job under the circumstances.
Are you still standing 6’ away from everyone and going the right direction in the grocery store? Fucking retard.
They scraped the arrows off the floor at my neighborhood grocery. Now I just wander around aimlessly. Got into a standoff with the robot that checks the inventory. Ugly scene.
It was a reasonable precaution given the information they had at the time.
HAHAHA! You're even dumber than I thought.
No it wasn't. The cdc said they were making up numbers. Go kill yourself
How's this for science...
Same day. Notice the same outfit. In the morning she was saddened by the impending doom due to low vaccination rates. That night on MSNBC she was so happy and hopeful because of the vaccination rates.

Weird how, literally, not a single study found masks did a damned thing against diseases in public settings...until 2020. Studies say the same thing --- they are useless, since then.
So, how did keeping fast food joints open and gyms closed help anybody? How did preventing people from going outside do any good? Why did several of the big names supporting lockdowns behave in a totally opposing manner in their private lives?
You do realize the order of 6' social distancing was pulled directly out of Fauci's arse.
It wasn't though.
It's an artifact of Fauci and others, at the beginning, suggesting staying an arm's length apart. Or that an arm's length distance should be sufficient. Something like that.
People did that, they'd stick an arm out, and the person next to them would do the same and that's where that 6 foot thing came from.
It's internet blather that caused that.
Obviously you are easily brainwashed into compliance and will believe anything the government tells you.
You put way too much confidence in the government to tell you the truth. All governments lie and all governments steal.
Unfortunately, there are too many Americans such as yourself.
Everything we've been told has been proven to be an outright lie. Every thing from masking to social distancing to lockdowns have proven to be useless and in effective. The vaccine is now proven to be a biological and chemical weapon.
The damage done to this nation will be long lasting.
Fauci is an international criminal and needs to be arrested for crimes against humanity, tried in a Nuremberg court, found guilty and given the Mengele treatment.
I recently saw a long list of all the monetary "donations" made to the CDC. The list contains all of big pharma and including Bill" I hate humans" Gates. It was sickening to read.
Bobby's advanced views on mitochondria, midichlorians , bloodsports, chemtrails, wellness & recreational whaling should not distract us from his inability to distinguish between lawsuits and scientific debates.
Boring. At least post your scam site.
But not the sight sbp posted
vvhatsupwiththat?
Wow. Just look at that screen shot: Two sneering pseudo-journalists and the worst possible face shot of RFK Jr.
Propaganda at its most obscene. A psy-op?
Hey, RFK Jr. might really be a nut job. But he asks a lot of the right questions, unlike Reason. And then there's this:

Just asking questions!!!
Sending the federal public health agencies into chaos is the opposite of good governance.
You’ve fucked this dude, haven’t you Tony?
“Here is a picture of the man resigning from CDC
Here he is wearing BDSM attire with a pentagram, a Satanic symbol, on his chest
He hates Trump and RFK Jr.
These are the kinds of freaks who used to oversee public health in this country”
https://x.com/kevinnbass/status/1961244628180459928
One wonders if he thinks he’s the master or the slave in his BDSM play…
I’d rather not put any more thought into it.
That's up to his Akita.
He’ll no longer be paid when saying,
It pus the lotion on its skin.
Also thought advising gay dudes to hold off on random public fucking during monkeypox was a great medical suggestion.
Russia thought the same of lysenko and the great work he was doing.
It was much better when they were the ExpertsTM and folks were forced to follow their broken narrative.
Go get a few more boosters.
The CDC did it to themselves. They had no help.
Now a government agency with no credibility what so ever.
Good riddance to all leaving the CDC.
These people leaving the CDC have made my week. More, please.
Remember: you can’t hate rural Iowa papists enough.
Boring.
And KKKlownish.
This.
That
This is your brain on cult. Kids, don't do cult.
Did you imagine this was clever?
So that chick that actually listens to the plaintive bleatings of the Reason elite wonders what she can do when getting her ass kicked in a debate. Problematically Reason editors have never shown any talent in that realm whatsoever.
I imagine a debate coach that was a based akita could help them clean up their skills.
Zach's sunburn looks painful! He looks as red as Mr. Krabs.
Trump should stay out of Chicago. Just let them circle the drain. The mayor is a low IQ knuckle dragging moron, even worse than previous mayor Lori "Beetlejuice" Lightfoot.
By the way, 'let's go Brandon" also shut down the shotspotter system claiming it was rayciss.
Chicago week in progress:
Shot and killed:5
Shot and wounded: 38
Total shot: 43
Total homicides: 5
year to date:
Shot and killed: 245
Shot and wounded: 1129
Total shot: 1374
Total Homicides: 293
Labor Day weekend nondemonized tally was 9 killed and 51 shot and wounded.

Now do Memphis Tenn and compare per capita rates:
https://www.security.org/resources/most-dangerous-cities/
https://showcrime.com/memphis/daily/list
Chicago is not in the top 10...
Portland Oregon was quite bad for a small city last year but only for non-violent crime. Maybe we should send the Guard there.
Memphis still leads for violent crime. Trump is not sending any troops there. May be because sending troops has nothing to do with crime rates.
The thing the staff misses regarding Trump's use of the National Guard is that I'd say they're defending the civil rights of ordinary citizens from the mayhem the Democratic leaders are allowing Antifa and other rioters/looters to create Stores are closing because the local governments aren't enforcing laws against theft. Even the thieves don't want the stores to close but they feel emboldened by the Democrats' policies.
JFK sent the National Guard to stop Gov. George Wallace from keeping schools segregated for civil rights, which was a good thing. You can see Trump's actions as similar.
"Antifa" were wimpy college student types who thought themselves anarchists. There aren't any 'riots' going on in big cities right now. It's just regular run-of-the-mill crime.
