16-Year-Old Shot and Killed by Arizona DPS Officer
Over a stolen SUV
The Arizona Department of Public Safety officer who shot and killed a 16-year-old last month called for backup units as soon as he ran the license plates and noticed the SUV traveling in front of him was stolen, according to a police report.
By the time the officer and SUV arrived at a gas station on the corner of 35th Avenue and Camelback Road on April 7, the requested DPS backup units were on their way but had not yet arrived.
