Republicans Won't Commit on Immigration
Caught between the future and the yahoos
Despite recent comments of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who suggested softening the Republican Party line on immigration, and the public pleas of Latino involvement in the political process by Mitt Romney's son Craig, the presence of Spanish voters at the Republican National Convention doesn't seem to be enough to change the core ideas of the Republicans on this hot topic.
During a telephone news conference Monday with New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu and U.S. Rep. Francisco Canceco, R-Texas, aimed at appealing to Hispanic voters, neither decided to directly take on the idea of drastic immigration reform.
