Now More Than Ever, Reason Needs Your Help To Abolish Everything
It's Giving Tuesday, and we're asking for your support.

Welcome to the most wonderful time of the year: Reason's annual Webathon! This is our end-of-year fundraising drive, where our readers come together to ensure that Reason can continue producing bold, independent, and principled journalism that challenges government overreach and champions individual liberty. To that end:
Please give us your money. We take U.S. dollars! Bitcoin! Stock! The change you found in your couch cushions!
To help us keep an eye on the state while also keeping our chill, Reason relies on the generosity of its readers, listeners, and viewers, not (heaven forbid) the government. The Webathon is critical to funding our work, from hard-hitting investigations to thoughtful commentary, while also fostering a community of freedom-loving individuals. We count on contributions both from grizzled veterans of the liberty movement and from bright-eyed and bushy-tailed folks discovering these ideas for the first time in our pages, pods, and videos. For 2024, we're shooting for $400,000.
This year, we're celebrating the launch of our December "Abolish Everything" issue—which turned out to be shockingly timely and prescient after the election, regardless of how you felt about the outcome.
Reason has always been about big ideas: individualism, personal responsibility, and a government that knows its limits. The Abolish Everything issue turns that dial to 11, with articles on shutting down the IRS, eliminating the TSA, and even taking a hard look at whether the Army has outlived its usefulness. (We didn't go full anarchist, but you can if you want to!) If you didn't have time to read the issue before Thanksgiving, you still have time to ruin Christmas dinner!
In a shouty, partisan world, Reason offers calm, principled journalism—and a little bit of fun. With your generous support, we can produce fearless reporting and incisive analysis. But we know you're probably here for the swag, so we've got you covered:
- $50: A Reason Plus subscription—ad-free browsing, early access to the magazine, commenting privileges, and exclusive events.
- $100: All of the above PLUS a Reason-branded phone wallet.
- $250: Everything at the $100 level PLUS an Abolish Everything t-shirt to spark conversation (or arguments) wherever you go.
- $500: All of the above PLUS a cozy Reason-branded blanket.
- $1,000: All the perks of the $500 level PLUS an invitation to Reason Weekend, a Torchbearer pin, and a podcast shoutout.
- $5,000: All previous rewards PLUS lunch with a Reason editor in Washington, D.C., or your moment of fame as Donor of the Week on the podcast.
- $10,000: Everything up to $5,000 PLUS a ticket to Reason Weekend (for first-time attendees).
Since Reason Foundation is a 501(c)(3), you also get a little tax break when you donate, which is extremely on-brand.
Extra Special Event Alert:
Don't miss our live Reason Roundtable podcast on Wednesday, December 4, at 1 p.m. Eastern. It's your chance to ask Matt Welch, Nick Gillespie, Peter Suderman, and me your burning questions about the Abolish Everything issue, the 2024 election, the right way to make a pot brownie (or any brownie), Javier Milei's grooming regimen, or whatever else you've got. We'll be giving questions from donors priority, so make sure to donate now and let us know when you send your question to podcasts@reason.com.
Why give? Because Reason is where big, contrarian ideas meet sharp, uncompromising reporting. In a media landscape cluttered with noise, we stand out by asking the tough questions, advocating personal freedom, and holding the powerful accountable.
With your support, we can do so much more. Let's Abolish Everything—and keep Reason going strong for another year of radical, thoughtful, and fearless journalism.

Abolish everything? ATF included?
How about starting with TDS?
Even appointing and anointing Trump Dick-tator for Life would SNOT be enough to cure Trump's Deranged Status!
(Reason's "Abolish Everything", I generally support, so long ass essential functions of Government Almighty... There are a few... Still get done. We can always wish! Wishing for the end of Trump's Deranged Status, however, beggars and buggers belief!)
"How about starting with TDS?"
Sqrlsy says "No".
Trump's Deranged Supporters are incurable.
Sarckle-brand TSDS.
I'll donate 10,000 Haitians.
I'll donate 10,000 Cats in the Kettle at the Peking Moon!

Imagine if the city of DC commandeered the Reason offices for Migrant housing.
Imagine if the city of DC commandeered Rick James's Mansion for housing Der Dear Leader TrumpfenFarter-Fuhrer and all of His Main Minions! WITHOUT even bothering (ass seems to be quite likely) with giving Rick James ANY compensatory "access" to Queen Spermy Daniels, Whose Farts Art Glazed in Vaseline!
GOOD LUCK to Rick James!!!
Abolish Everything. Starting with KMW.
Ill donate $1000 if you never mention immigration again.
I will give you the advice to begin writing articles for libertarians.
(Seriously, 'giving Tuesday'? I will stick with every Sunday)
Giving Tuesday was one of the four Tuesdays in Connections last week I was all whatdafuq is that?
Skipped the article. Came for the comments. They did not disappoint.
Abolish bright colored hair dye
Why would you want the crazies to blend in more?
FRENEMY OF THE PEOPLE!
How about abolishing the House of Representatives?
Having over 500 lawmakers is way too many and most are bought off.
The Senate would be enough to legislate, oppress and demean the American people with just 100 members.
Now More Than Ever, Reason Needs Your Help To Abolish Everything
Would that include the much-celebrated government agency that Pimps have to register with in a world where anti-discrimination laws don't apply to bitches who suck dick for a living?
In the season of giving:
Ranked Choice Vote of which Reason staffer to abolish-
1. Elizabeth Nolan Brown
2. Jacob Sullum
3. Fiona Harrigan
4. Billy Binion
5. Eric Boehm
6. Matt Welch
7. C.J. Ciaramella
8. Emma Camp
9. Joe Lancaster
(This 'endless ballot' thing is like a Festivus Miracle!)
10. Peter Suderman
11. Robert Poole Jr.
12. Ron Bailey
(Feel free to arbitrarily inflate the voting pool and claim a larger share of the total number of votes, not ballots, by adding your own preferred authors to the list. RCV/Festivus/Giving Tuesday Miracle!)
You forgot KMW. Otherwise, good list. If she's "in charge", then she should be #1.
If she's "in charge", then she should be #1.
I don't disagree, but your conditional reminds me that I forgot Stooksberry (Who should probably go somewhere between Sullum and Camp)!
IMO, putting KMW's name on the list is like voting against (or for) Chase Oliver. I understand and don't/wouldn't contradict people thinking she's in charge and needs to go, but I just don't personally believe it and don't think she contributes much, good or bad, otherwise. More important to have a staff room full of actual libertarians or void of closet progressives than worry about the office manager's pink hair or rainbow flag t-shirt.
Did Matt suggest (again) that we abolish the Communications Decency Act? Because I'll never forget that one.
when doctors apologize for covid I will goto doctors. when Welch apologizes for the red wedding thing I will give to reason. maybe, like I said I don't really have the money I give everything to the lady of the house.
Sugar daddy Koch brothers not funding the operation? You guys are just like The Intercept and their Daddy Warbucks, Pierre Omidyar. Always begging for money when you've got a billionaire "philanthropist" who benefits more from your work than any of us.
Abolish abolitionism! End women's suffrage! Protect Good Samaritans! Support Reason Magazine!
Abolish Abortion! It's the true libertarian principle.
