Brickbat: Don't Even Look

In Belfast, Northern Ireland, Judge Francis Rafferty says he will deny bail to everyone arrested near a riot, even if they did not take part in violence or property damage and were there only as a "curious observer." "Anybody involving themselves in this type of behaviour, this type of disorder, as an active participant or a curious observer can expect to be, save for the most exceptional circumstances, remanded into custody," he said when denying bail to Cameron Armstrong, who claimed to have been at a riot in east Belfast only to "have a look" and left when explosives were thrown.

Most exceptional circumstances include being a reporter that is willing to spread the correct narratives.
"Arrest them all. Let God sort them out." - Judge Francis 'Amalric' Rafferty
To oppress and riot. Everyone in the UK knows his role.
It seems that in the eyes of the new elite, some riots are okay, maybe even good, while others are vile acts of fascist lunacy. Angry African-Americans and their white ‘allies’ among the Ivy League left getting violent over the killing of a black man? Good. We bow down. Immigrant communities in Leeds setting fires in response to social workers coming for Roma kids? Fine. The language of the unheard. White working-class men kicking off in the aftermath of the murder of three girls? Evil. Unconscionable. Crush them.

And Democrats once again take notes.
explosives were thrown
Like *explosive* explosives or like fireworks explosives or some weird dialect thing where the Irish don't use 'incendiary device' for something like a molotov cocktail?
Just, as an American, it seems interesting that despite all of our domestic arson and arms control, relative to the arms control and surveillance state (and looking down their nose at our lack of one) enacted over there the debate over the offensiveness of naming a drink “The Irish Car Bomb” is still valid/current.
The whole “We’re safe from handguns but we still have problems with bombings and grenade attacks.” is just bizarre.
if a riot happens but nobody is there to riot or have a look or report about it did it happen?
"Find someone to condemn, but make it sound punitive. Tag your statement with an implication of guilt or responsibility. Any bystander found alive looks guilty, as if somehow immune to the catastrophe. Why are they not being subpoenaed as a witness?"
