Comic: John Stuart Mill in 'Superliberal'
The English economist's unapologetic liberalism often drew the ire of other members of Parliament.

I find it questionable whether universal suffrage is a liberal idea. Mill may have thought so, but the Founding Fathers didn't. Voting rights should be linked to who pays for what is being voted on.
While Mill was clearly important in the development of liberalism, we can evaluate his ideas now with more than a century of practical experience, and history has shown that many of Mill's ideas do not result in more individual liberty. That alone makes him not a "superliberal".
Worse yet, every single country with a higher percentage of voter turnout is also less free than the US.
Where does Chicago, with 110% voter turnout, fall on that spectrum?
Depends on your skin color
That is "super" democracy. You talk as if dead people's votes don't matter.
here does Chicago, with 110% voter turnout, fall on that spectrum?
The Biden camp.
every single country with a higher percentage of voter turnout is also less free than the US.
Seems an unlikely claim.
Germany: +70%
UK: +65%
France: similar to the UK.
Canada: 65%
The US (2016): 55%
US (2020): 62%
N korea
Venseuala
Cuba
All have about 99%
You are making the DNC jealous--and giving them ideas.
Saddam Hussein routinely got absurd electoral victories.
Why did we have to depose his wonderful democracy?
Where's your evidence that the US is freer than all these other countries with higher turnout rates? Sure, there are countries that are less free that do, obviously, but that is not the same.
See: Constitutional Amendments I & II
That's not evidence of whether the US actually is. The Soviet constitutions had free speech, freedom of assembly, etc. You must think that the USSR was a free country, if you're stupid enough to believe your own argument.
How was their second amendment, dummy?
Fuckwit, the point is whether what's in the Constitution translates into actual freedoms.
It's just a piece of paper.
All US free or red state free?
There are institutions which publish assessments of the freedom of countries. Try those.
Are those the same institutions in which you were an inmate?
Cretin, even you are capable of better comebacks than that - unless your spirochaetes really have been working overtime.
The ones that include freedom to not work and live on welfare as freedom?? The ones who bias free Healthcare and other welfare programs?
There are a number to choose from. I forewent mentioning any specific one because you'd whine that you didn't agree.
It's always possible that you would reject the methodology of any index that didn't put US as number one, of course.
Lol. I haven’t rejected shit. I set you up to not provide one as I knew you would choose one of the socialist freedom ones.
Well, it seems like an unlikely claim to you because you are evidently not familiar with conditions abroad, but it's true.
The most authoritarian regimes usually have close to 100% voter turnout.
And 100% for the Dear Leader.
The question is whether there are countries freer than the US that have higher turnouts.
As you're a highly-confident ignoramus, you wouldn't have looked to see whether there was any actual rankings or indices of freedom anywhere, and if so, whether there were countries that were freer than the US with higher turnouts.
Of course it's also possible that you're stupid enough to think that the US is the freest country anywhere, some real-world Qarth.
I give up, what is the freest country?
Venezuela.
Those indexes are mostly bullshit, tempered to ones biases.
No, that's not the question. We're talking tendencies here, not a precise relationship.
I have lived in quite a few countries and chosen the US as an immigrant because it is the freest country anywhere in my experience for average people (if you're a billionaire, there are better choices).
But you're welcome to relate your experience.
I find it questionable whether universal suffrage is a liberal idea. Mill may have thought so, but the Founding Fathers didn’t.
Well, given that the FFs didn't prohibit slavery, the FFs were evidently not as liberal as you seem to imply.
Not sure i want to take opinions from someone who thinks Soros is a classical liberal.
And yet he insists he’s not Shrike. The number of people in the world who actually believe Soros is a classical liberal could fit comfortably into a minivan.
Deeds, not words, folks.
You know I'm not shrike, you fuckwit.
And I don't think Soros is a classical liberal. Nor do I think that the FFs were all classical liberals. And certainly no poster here is a classical liberal, occasional claims to the contrary notwithstanding - neo-Confederates a-plenty, though.
You're Shrike in spirit, and explain how a Canadian Metis is neo-confederate because I'm interested in the logic behind trying to pigeonhole me there.
Because you're a neo-Confederate in spirit - sauce for the goose - always supporting the American neo-Confederates here.
I doubt he’s a democrat.
We're in 2023 not 1965, fuckwit.
"cUrReNt dAtE!!!"
Hell of an argument, Diet Shrike.
Ahh yes. Forgot you called Abraham Lincoln a confederate when you claimed only confederate statues were being pulled down.
Again. Your opinion is useless.
Forgot you called Abraham Lincoln a confederate when you claimed only confederate statues were being pulled down.
Lying again, I see.
No I did not. Your claim was anyone who was against the left pulling down statues was for the confederacy. You then claimed only confederate statues were pulled down. You were promptly given examples of Lincoln and abolitionists.
"Because you’re a neo-Confederate in spirit"
So the racist Democrat from Georgia who's constantly spazzing when black men leave the DNC vote plantation, isn't the neo-Confederate, it's everyone else.
That doesn't even make fucking sense.
Again, explain how I'm neo-confederate, even in spirit. You don't even understand what you're talking about, are you.
Also someone ignorant of the conditions obtaining when the Constitution was written.
He’s not ignorant, he’s dishonest,
I never said he was.
Now try addressing the actual point. I won't hold it against you if you agree with me in this one instance.
Damn. Guess I have to start bookmarking you too shrike.
He won’t care. He’s practically a bot.
I don't give a shit what you do, though it is very sad that you think it worth the effort.
Do you agree with my relevant point, though?
You haven’t even taken a relevant shit in your entire life.
FFS your attempted insults are really poor. You're capable of so much better.
D- , could do better.
It takes less time to bookmark than argue with your lies about what you've said. It is literally one button.
That you feel required to save. Sad fucker. Who gives a shit? You, apparently.
Again. Less time than arguing with you lying about your past statements.
Their decision to tolerate slavery temporarily tells you nothing about their ideological preferences; it was a purely pragmatic and practical decision, since they couldn't simultaneously deal with a revolution, a new Constitution, and figuring out how to end slavery all at the same time.
It tells you that they did not abide by their claimed principles. In the words of MoLa, "deeds, not words".
Diet Shrike: “Fewer calories, just as dumb.”
To the contrary, the path they chose was, in fact, the most likely to lead to the abolition of slavery.
He wanted them to be like Jesus Christ returning and creating a perfect world.
No, remaining British subjects was the most likely path to ending slavery sooner.
No, the most likely path was what they did.
In practice, Britain nominally ended slavery sooner than the US, though whether they did in practice, and whether they would have done if the US had still been part of the empire is debatable.
Bullshit. It required a fucking bloody civil war 80 years later followed by another 80 years of de facto slavery.
The zeal with which some of you seppos hang onto founding myths would be tragic if not so laughable.
Wait, are you some Aussie shithead? Are you mad an American chad fucked your mom?
Seppo is a British insult as well as Australian - indeed, it originated in Britain as Cockney rhyming slang IIRC
Are you British or Australian?
The attitude of the Founding Fathers towards slavery is well documented in their writings. Of course, since you're illiterate, you wouldn't know.
If you have a large class of persons subject to the laws made by others, isn't that situation ripe for abuse? Things my have gone sour, but what makes you think they'd be any better with rule by a smaller class of persons? Would they not be incentivized to stick it to the rest of us?
I believe the very concept of a single political body that can impose its will on others based on accidents of geography is flawed and unsustainable.
Libertarianism or panarchy is a reasonable solution: you choose who to pay taxes to, and that's where you get to vote, and that's who protects your interests.
We're really heading that way anyway; rich people already choose their citizenship and place of residency that way. The main thing now is to make those choices cheaper and more accessible for average people.
Women’s suffrage directly led to prohibition of alcohol, the drug war, gun control, and making prostitution/sex work illegal.
So it’s not just paying for stuff, it’s that some people don’t like to see others enjoy life and use democracy to ruin other people’s lives in the name of "for their own good".
Also, if you look at the recent birthing/population shifts, there’s actually some wisdom to the notion from a population-control and innate gender-role (or sex or whichever one means "factual biological" nowadays) situation as well.
That is, if half of men decide to either shoot a Nazi or killing themselves for having failed to shoot a Nazi, it’s not really a species-level population problem. Half of men are more than capable of making up for the other half. If, however, women become vitally and equally interested in killing Nazis or even just supplant the men, that quickly becomes a species-extinction-level problem. Half the number of women are not capable of making up the other half of women.
This is somewhat analogous to the PID (Position-Integral-Derivative) control systems such as cruise control, where you separate powers so that the quickest and most volatile control elements are only able to make minor adjustments rather than effectively bouncing from catastrophic failure to catastrophic failure trying to use the gross control systems to make fine adjustments.
That’s not to say no women anywhere should have any say so in anything, rather the opposite, the ones who currently hold sway by screeching on Twitter are doing more harm to women and the species as a whole than the women who are quietly having kids and raising them to be well-adjusted and mild-mannered humans have for millennia.
But women and progressives believe in "overpopulation" and that "we are destroying the planet". So, they are happy (in the abstract) if there are fewer children.
Save the fact that not all women are progressives, right. If you believe the catastrophic forecasts and that reduction in numbers is the way to address climate long term, reducing the TFR from 2.1 to 1.6 in a decade (rather than from 2.1 to 2.0 over the course of a half-century or more) is a retarded over-reaction and pretty much works to force a catastrophic collapse (especially with all the social programs assuming TFR > 2 heaped on top).
Well, obviously, I'm talking generalities, but the differences between men and women on such issues are large and they vote accordingly.

RED DAWN MOMENT AT ISRAELI FESTIVAL WHEN HAMAS HAND-GLIDED IN AND CRASHED THE PARTY ***
[Video]
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/rave-festival-desert-hamas-attack-b2426113.html
Thousands of young people were dancing at a rave in the desert near the Gaza border when Hamas bombs struck and militants seized dozens of hostages
Israel is now at war. There is not a world where Hamas and Israel can co-exist side-by-side. Hamas must be physically obliterated.
Taliban is asking to get involved with help from Iran, Iraq, and Jordan.
Then they will die also. I will not weep for them.
Yup.
And it's a fucking outrage that so many Israeli civilians had to be murdered by the Gazan government - for that is who Hamas are - for the rest of the world finally to believe what Israel and Hamas itself had said about Hama's aims.
Yesterday was the worst day for us since the end of WWII.
Where in Israel do you live?
That's his next sock.
I don't. I live in Long Island.
They attacked Long Island?
No, they attacked Jews.
I'm sorry for the Israelis and I think we should support them with trade and intelligence.
But beyond that, what does this have to do with "us"?
People need to be whipped up into a frenzy. There are elections to win.
Speaking of,
http://www.ronpaulinstitute.org/archives/peace-and-prosperity/2023/october/07/as-conflict-rises-in-israel-donald-trump-offers-a-relatively-noninterventionist-reaction-among-republican-presidential-candidates/
... and military budgets to increase.
But beyond that, what does this have to do with “us”?
I am Jewish. Hence my observation.
Are you arguing in favor of an ethnostate?
Spicy!
Yet, you're also an ignoramus and a fascist. Curious. Maybe you're just lying about being Jewish.
Don't care about either. I'm not jewish or palastinian, I don't care about what goes on there anymore than I care about two warring nations in Africa. Let them work it out, and stop stealing from me to fund the military's escapades.
You don’t care about the health of the state?
I care about the health of the state in the same way I care about Joe Biden's health.
Yeah, I'm not exactly saying we or everyone *has* to get involved, you should keep your tax money. However, if you think shouting "Neutral!" in the style of "1, 2, 3... Not it!" exempts you from this or actually makes you untouchably neutral, you're very much mistaken as to how things like vengeance, blood feuds, and crusades work.

The Palestinian attack on Israel has thrown the entire world community into confusion. Those who were previously perceived as peasants in wicker slippers, capable at best of blowing up a bus stop, destroyed one of the myths about the State of Israel in a few hours. How did this even become possible?
Arab sabotage groups crossed the Gaza border, simply breaking it. Like a peasant, they destroyed all these iron buildings with tractors and took them apart with screwdrivers.
Mobile groups in “carts” rushed into the gaps. Indeed, there were breakthroughs from the sea on motor boats and even exotic paragliding flights. But these are isolated stories, although important in the overall context. But for the most part it was simple: a tractor and physical strength. Israel did not guard the border with Gaza as it should have.
A few kilometers from the border there were up to a dozen fortified posts and military bases where reservists were sleeping for the Sabbath and holidays. The location and arrangement of these fortified points and bases was no secret. There was little external security or guard service.
Israeli defense points are a barracks behind a fence with a medieval tower on which there is a machine gun. It is controlled automatically from the barracks, just like on a warship. It looks technologically advanced but an ordinary commercial quadcopter drops a grenade on a machine gun turret - and there is no longer any defense of the “fortified” point. The Palestinians then enter the barracks and shoot the sleeping soldiers. And so on along the entire border of Gaza. In total, the Palestinians killed up to half of the “fortified” posts they assaulted in under an hour.
Located a little deeper, larger military bases like Kerem Shalom were lightly guarded. Apparently they were a second-level reserve. That is, after a threat was received from the first level, they should have been alerted. But no one had time to announce the alarm. The outer guards were penetrated by old Soviet hand grenade launchers, and the soldiers were again killed in the barracks. Merkava tanks and Namer armored personnel carriers became trophies.
A single tank, going somewhere about its business, was burned by a grenade, also dropped from a drone. Yes, the Palestinians were lucky: they hit the fuel tanks. But then it turned out that the Merkava does not have protection for its external tanks, and in general they are in no way adapted for defense against such very primitive drones. It’s just that the Israelis have never encountered anything like this, and it never even occurred to them to protect their tanks from drones.
Groups of Palestinians disembarked from boats entered the centers of large cities on the coast. Controlling a city does not necessarily mean cleaning it up. The attackers burned down the police building in Ashkelon and simply stationed themselves in the city center near a pizzeria, shooting at everyone around them. The number of civilian casualties in Israel already numbers hundreds.
Kibbutzim and Jewish settlements were not protected at all. But once upon a time these were the most fortified settlements in the world. There were self-defense units there, and a supply of weapons was kept in the rabbi's house. And now the Arabs simply drove the settlers deep into Gaza to create an exchange fund. Spontaneous pogroms began in the Negev and in the settlements around Jerusalem, for which the Jewish population was also unprepared.
At the same time, several thousand rockets from Gaza fell on Israel at once. It turned out that the Iron Dome system, which for many years was presented as the most advanced in the world, cannot cope. Rockets began to fall as far as Haifa, that is, the entire territory of Israel from south to north was defenseless. Yes, these missiles are primitive, but when there are thousands of them, any air defense system is useless. Twelve air defense missiles cannot shoot down two thousand targets at a time.
As a result, the entire so-called line of defense against Gaza was simply destroyed by the Palestinians in three hours, and the fire was transferred deep into Israeli territory. Then some of the Arab DRGs returned to Gaza with trophies and prisoners, and the most persistent ones entrenched themselves in several settlements at predetermined points such as local police stations and military bases.
What happened only at first glance may seem like a chaotic peasant operation of the “raid” type. The Arabs knew the goals in advance, they had advance routes, and the groups coordinated their actions. They knew the communication frequencies and security passwords. All this means that the development of the plan and reconnaissance of the area took at least six months.
MOSSAD and Shin Bet (or Shin Bet, Israel's counterintelligence) consider one of their priority goals to be control over Hamas's acquisition of weapons and materials for the production of missiles. And preemptive strikes on Gaza are carried out mainly on missile production sites and warehouses. So how did it happen that Hamas was able to launch several thousand rockets into Israel in two bursts in one day?
Hundreds of people were involved in preparing the attack. From those who bought weapons to the commanders of individual “carts” who received “waybills.” The larger the operation, the more people know about it. But MOSSAD and Shin Bet did not know about this. Undoubtedly, we are faced with a failure of Israeli counterintelligence. When this happened 50 years ago, intelligence leaders later resigned, including the legendary Isser Harel, but it was too late.
What should the intelligence services and the Israel Defense Forces have done? Human intelligence should have noticed the exceptionally high activity of Palestinian groups several months ago. Electronic intelligence and electronic warfare systems were supposed to reveal unusual negotiation activity and the emergence of new code words in it. The guard duty regulations had to be observed, despite the Sabbath and dances on Yom Kippur. External security of the unit's temporary location is necessarily guarded along the perimeter. In a country with unlimited financial resources and access to modern technology, there should have been a system of external surveillance abroad.
Thus, Israel suffered losses that were more important than just tragic losses in manpower and equipment. The Palestinian attack destroyed ideas about how Israel's security forces work and how capable they are.
It turned out that the Israeli security forces were resting on the laurels of the victories of past generations. Intelligence and counterintelligence are ineffective, and the Israeli military has slept through the changes in combat tactics occurring in current conflicts right now.
Israel missed a sensitive blow, comparable only to the Yom Kippur War, the half-century anniversary of which all this was timed. Chaos reigned in Tel Aviv for several hours. The IDF command was in a coma. Until now, he has not given a clear answer as to how all this could have happened. Yes, loud political statements have already been made, and it is already clear that Israel’s response will be cruel and demonstrative, and in the near future. However, the first strike has already been missed, and yet it was prepared under the very nose of Israeli intelligence and counterintelligence.
Right now, the Israeli command is making a difficult decision: to invade Gaza on the ground or limit itself to only rocket attacks from the air. Netanyahu makes it clear that he is ready to wipe Gaza off the face of the earth, which automatically means a bloodbath, including among the civilian population. From a political point of view, Israel cannot limit itself to retaliating with rocket attacks on Gaza and demonstrating firepower by redeploying elite tank brigades like the Golani to the south. As they clear settlements of Arab groups, MOSSAD will discover entire basements and ditches filled with the bodies of Israeli soldiers.
The Israelis have not suffered such losses for many decades. This is a very sensitive topic, and in response you simply cannot shoot and then say “we won.” Therefore, Israel's response must be much more powerful and convincing than it was before in previous aggravations of the Arab-Israeli conflict.
It is clear that Israel is technologically stronger. If he is consistent, sooner or later a level of destruction in Gaza will be achieved that Tel Aviv will be able to call a victory. But the Arabs have already done the main thing: they have destroyed the myths around Israel’s defense systems, and this moral victory is much more important than the purely military counterattack that the Jewish state is now organizing against them.
Moreover, the events of these days can reformat the entire military-political structure of the Middle East, leading to the emergence of new alliances and new front lines. Compared to all other world events, this is perhaps the worst thing that could happen.

"New study ties weight-loss drugs Wegovy, Ozempic to serious gastrointestinal conditions."
I know it can be a bitch, but people need to lose weight the old fashioned way...diet and exercise.
Sure, but where are the billion dollar profits, and media frenzy, in that?
There's the rub, my friend.
Someone hasn't gotten the memo on the body positivity movement.
So not gastric bypass? So a 3% fatality rate from the surgery followed by numerous long term health consequences isn't worth it?
the old fashioned way…diet and exercise.
We now have many decades of experience showing that the success rate of very fat people who try that is almost zero. We need new and better treatments for obesity. They should keep trying even if Wegovy and Ozempic don't work out.
The success rate of diet and exercise for weight loss in very fat people is 100%. It's basic physics and physiology.
If they fail to lose weight, it's because they choose to go off the diet.
Anosmia (e.g. as induced by COVID) likely is effective. Your and Hillary's favorites, reeducation labor camps, also work wonders.
If there's a food out there that can cause someone, anyone, to gain mass greater than the portion of food they consume and regardless of their physical activity, we can knock off all the Cold Fusion, Sustainable Green Energy, Organic lab-grown meat bullshit and call it a day. The problem is solved.
It’s basic physics and physiology.
No, it isn't. There's also behavioral psychology involved.
If they fail to lose weight, it’s because they choose to go off the diet.
You have a naïve view of the human ability to "choose". Fortunately, bright people more in touch with reality than you are working on the problem.
There’s also behavioral psychology involved.
The words “behavioral psychology” don’t mean what you think they mean.
Behavioral psychology doesn’t cause you to gain weight while eating less and exercising more. It may be the explanation as to why someone isn’t eating less or isn't exercising more, but it’s not some thought-terminating/retardation-inducing magic incantation. You can’t just say, “2+2=5 because I called behavioral psychology!”
You have a naïve view of the human ability to “choose”. Fortunately, bright people more in touch with reality than you are working on the problem.
Given the fact that you effectively said, “Physics doesn’t work because I called behavioral psychology!” I don’t think you’re making the “I’m in touch with a reality you aren’t.” statement you think you are. Matter of fact, your “I call behavioral psychology!” argument pretty critically hinges on the notion that you aren’t in touch with objective reality.
Behavioral psychology might be the reason why some people eat, but that definitively does not refute the assertion “Eat less, exercise more, lose weight.”
Which all, to me, begs the question, are you here because you really like to bang borderline retarded, morbidly obese people or do you just enjoy being dishonest and using rhetorical sleight of hand to keep them that way?
Yes, at the root of obesity in the US is behavioral psychology; it is behavioral psychology that causes people to fall off their diets.
But my statement stands: diets work 100% of the time. That is, if you stay on your diet, you will lose weight.
Since you admit that "behavioral psychology" is at the root of the obesity problem, why are you looking at physiological solutions related to the digestive system or metabolism?
I suppose it's the same idiocy that tries to cure a mental problem like gender dysphoria via surgical castration.
The fact that most Americans lack the skills to control themselves and make good choices doesn't change the fact that they do, in fact, have choices.
If you believe that our intellect is the only hand on the controls of our behavior, then you are not merely naïve, but astonishingly ignorant of what it's like to be a human being. Are you from another planet?
I am not smart enough to understand these comics. Too elitist and snobberific.
I'm starting to think that's the point.
What makes you think there's a point? It's just capsule history.
I enjoy Bagge's stuff, and I like how everyone looks crazy and angry.

Take your fucking gay baiting obsession with Scott and stick it up your own racist ass. Nobody here cares if Scott tastes dicks. This isn’t patheos.com, and concern trolling about homolust won’t work.
You flip out like this every time a black man leaves the Democratic Party plantation. You’re like the twenty-first century version of a slave catcher.
Hilarious. You QAnon MAGA types are obsessed with pedophile accusations. You're going to get your bullshit blowback.
That would be a fair accusation if you hadn’t actually once posted child porn links here yourself, and got the thread nuked by Reason and your original account banned.
But you did.
Anyway, that distraction attempt doesn't change the fact that you freak out over every black Republican.
Lies.
You're desperate.
Just sad at this point shrike. It is like you get off on people talking about your penchant for kids.
We have the links to the pre-scrub and post scrub pages.
A few years back you posted kiddy porn to this site, and your initial handle was banned. The link below details all the evidence surrounding that ban. turd lies. turd lies when he knows he’s lying. turd lies when we know he’s lying. turd lies when he knows that we know he’s lying.
turd lies. turd is a lying pile of lefty shit and a pederast besides.

Typical prog:
"We don't like pedophiles" = "We don't like gay people"
So, tell, me shriek, what makes you think all gay people are pedophiles? I've known a couple of gay people over the years, and I'm pretty sure they're as disgusted by kiddie-diddling as the rest of us.
Your racial obsession with all black conservatives is very telling.
I still can't believe how ridiculous he made himself look with his months-long obsession with Walker. Kept bringing him up even after he lost and became irrelevant.
Stated reason: It's not about race! It's about brain damage! The US Senate is a sacred institution that mustn't be polluted with a mentally defective member!
Then a giant oaf with stroke-related brain damage who cannot understand spoken English (and who suffers from lock-me-up-so-I-don't-hurt-myself depression) won a Senate seat. And Buttplug admitted he didn't mind. Because this particular brain-damaged oaf is a white Democrat.
TL / DR - Buttplug is such a pathetic hack I'd dismiss him as bad writing if he was a character in a work of fiction. Too over-the-top stupid and lacking in self-awareness.
Look at his screen name, talk about obsessive.
Stupid too, Obama imagines fucking men daily, shrike wrote this is how you pick up hot chicks.
turd, the ass-clown of the commentariat, lies; it’s all he ever does. turd is a kiddie diddler, and a pathological liar, entirely too stupid to remember which lies he posted even minutes ago, and also too stupid to understand we all know he’s a liar.
If anything he posts isn’t a lie, it’s totally accidental.
turd lies; it’s what he does. turd is a lying pile of lefty shit.
Scott seems like a reasonable, moderate Republican. He's running for president to give people a sensible alternative, and also because he probably wants to be considered as a running mate by someone else. I don't see your problem with that. Nobody cares if he is gay, except for anti-gay jerks like you, SPB2.
I for one appreciate that you can’t help yourself but to show what a racist, homophobic, misogynistic piece of shit you really are. Never change shrike.
Who is Tim Scott and why do you post about him daily?
John Stuart Mill, of his own free will, after half a pint of shandy was particularly ill.
Plato, they say, could stick it away, half a crate of whiskey every day!
Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle,
And Hobbes was fond of his Dram.
And René Descartes was a drunken fart: 'I drink, therefore I am.'
Yes Socrates is particularly missed, a lovely little thinker but a bugger when he's pissed
He couldn't hold his hemlock.
You may have missed the joke
Obviously.

"On Liberty" deserves a read from everybody. I should re-read it, in fact. Mill was a for-real genius who argued carefully.
But in his own Victorian way, he helped promote "experiments in living" which should not only be free from legal punishment, but from social censure as well.
I'm not saying he specifically approved of gender-bending and such things, but you see what happens without social censure.
And it's replaced by social censure against people who *dislike* "experiments in living."
In my Philosophy classes from 30+ years ago, Mill was the main name we read on Political Theory, along with John Rawls, almost until you got sick of it.
We did get a smattering of Robert Nozick and one essay by Kurt Baier critical of Ayn Rand's Ethical Egoism, though, so at least University life wasn't completely devoid of Miniarchist/Libertarian thought. Political Correctness, SJWism and Wokeism were only in embryonic stages.
Mill is worth reading and he was ahead of his time, but he was tending towards utilitarianism, collectivism, socialism, and progressivism, in particular in his later years.
And apparently a Utilitarianism which increasingly leaned towards Utilitarianism Plus, like... Atheism Plus, or LIbertarianism Plus.
This guy may very well be the grossest douchebag on the planet.

Lowlife (Living the Highlife) – Kid Rock
Other the distinct lack of intra-familial relations in the lyrics, Hunter pretty much hits every line beat-for-beat, if not worse. Hunter is, real-life, more socially reprehensible than the self-deprecating, satirical representation of someone who makes his living projecting himself as the most disgusting white trash person you know.
And Frank Biden has been spotted on Grindr.
What is it with that family?
Hey trolls. When did you decide I’m a neocon, and why? I’ve never said anything in support of the Bush clan, and I’ve always said that compassionate conservatives are big-government liberals who oppose abortion. So… Where did this delusion come from? The voices in JesseAz’s head? The moose-fucker’s imagination? ICP humping the before mentioned trolls' legs?
"Hey trolls. When did you decide I’m a neocon, and why?"
Is Sarckles claiming to be Buttplug now? I've heard of attention whoring, but sheesh...
If I do a search for "sarc" on these comments, I usually find you and/or one of your fellow animal-rapists talking about me. So when I saw y'all calling me a neocon I found it curious.
I've called you a troll, a drunk and an attention whore more times than I can count, but I've never called you a neocon. That one's been used only on Buttplug because he is a neocon.
I know you're desperate for attention, but saying I call you a neocon when there's so many other things to choose from is just sad.
You pine for the old GOP lead by neocons, post George Will as a true Republican, blindly support Ukraine, support democrats, your TDS, defend the state as a sacred institution, repeat neocon talking points..
But other than that....
You have an impressive imagination.
Got any comments rooted in reality?
sarcasmic 4 months ago Flag Comment Mute User Nothing good will come from losing faith in institutions like elections and courts, and all of the blame rests squarely on Trump’s ego.
Want more?
If I took random statements from you, Jennifer Rubin, or the Lincoln Party nobody would be able to tell the difference.
Want me to post your applauding of J6 convictions next?
What’s your point? Institutions matter. You saying they don’t?
Post me applauding J6 convictions. Be sure to include a link so everyone can see you're either lying or deliberately taking something out of context.
Wait. I thought you just said I was wrong 100% and I lied. Now you admit what I posted was true. Lol.
Neocon blind faith in government. Thanks buddy.
J6 link below buddy.
And another of you mocking the convictions.

Blind faith? That's something you just made up.
First link was me mocking Nardz and Sevo, not the convictions.
Not sure what the second one is all about.
You're really terrible at this.
Lol. Just made up? You made that statement when people were calling out the issues of government retard. And it wasn’t the first time you’ve done it. You’ve constantly attacked all criticism of institutions as conspiracy theories while promoting faith in them.
All you do is fucking lie man.
The thread is there for everyone to see you retarded fuck. You’ve constantly defended j6 convictions.
You are such a lying piece of shit.
Just like watching shrike defend his posting of dark web links for child porn. Just 2 pieces of shit.
"Institutions matter" isn't synonymous with "Blind faith in government."
And I haven't defended any convictions. If anything I've said sentences were unjust.
You just don't bookmark those comments because, being a piece of shit liar who always argues in bad faith, you pretend such comments don't exist.
If anything I’ve said sentences were unjust.
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.
Lying piece of shit. You even mock the shooting death of Babbitt.
Masks good. Vaccines good. Elections are 100% honest.
God damn you are such a fucking liar.
Just a piece of shit chronic liar.
Ok. Claim I said a bunch of things I never said, then call me a liar.
Are you trying to be ironic?
I feel sorry for any women in your life. If you're this much of a dick to a stranger online, I can only imagine the gaslighting those close to you have to put up with. Maybe that's why you spend so much time here. Because they got fed up.
Hey retard. I posted evidence of your statements and you till fucking deny them. My wife hasn't left me unlike yours. Lol. Maybe be less drunk and abuse your daughter less?
Literally everything you said in that comment is false. The fact that you are 100% wrong 100% of the time tells me you aren’t stupid. No. If you were stupid you’d screw up and get something right once.
You’re above average intelligence, cunning, deceitful, dishonest, manipulative, mendacious, malicious, and taking this comment as a compliment.
I think ICP means well for a Juggalo. Even the Canadian Cunt thinks he’s some sleuth discovering socks. But you? You’re exist to be a jerk.
I mean I just posted an example. Here is more.

What about the blind hatred for Biden in these comments? Seems like a majority of the people here start the day with the “Fuck Joe Biden” prayer. Why is that warranted while anyone who says “Boo” about Trump is accused of Trump Derangement Syndrome?

DeSantis is using the state to crush his enemies, making the New Right swoon.
How are you different than Rubin, the Bulwark, or the Lincoln Project?
What's your point?
Walking around saying "Fuck Joe Biden, fuck Joe Biden" over and over in a trance state is perfectly normal to you while you accuse anyone who says anything unflattering about Trump of mental illness.
The irony of Trump Derangement Syndrome is that people like you who accuse others of it are fucking deranged.
Youre a dem defending neocon with TDS just like Will, Rubin. The Bulwark, the Lincoln Project, etc.
Youre just so delusional as to not realize it.
Is this another one of those things where I didn't say anything and that means some big hoopla you invented in your head?
Delusional adjective was used for a reason buddy. Most alcoholics have a weird delusion.

You know what they call that? A good start.
About as libertarian a response as you can get.
No. No. No. Unpossible.
The only libertarian way to resolve crime is through more open/concealed carry. There can be no other way. The NAP and libertarianism says so and you must be a crazy hater of hate America, the 2A, and individual liberty if you even think otherwise.
Not a fan of lynching, but perhaps the justice system will be as soft on the alleged lynchers as it was on the rapist?
At least she didn't use an evil gun.
(vigilante justice is never required when the "duly constituted authority" actually does its job)
In many Middle East cultures they would kill the girl that was raped. Seeing the girl kill the rapist seems to even things out.
No, I’m not going to go that far.
If the lynchers were reacting against leniency for rapists, that might be a mitigating circumstances for the lynchers, in the sense of turning a death sentence into a 20-year sentence. Or whatever the Swedish equivalent is of death and 20 years respectively.
But I’m going to take the controversial (for *this* comment section) position that lynching is wrong and, when proven, should be punished.

https://rmx.news/article/swedish-scientists-prosecuted-for-finding-that-most-rapes-are-committed-by-immigrants/
You can find probably hundreds more examples throughout Europe with an online search. It's not a secret.
Interesting how you switched from "hanging", a term that rather connotes a relatively strictly one-off, extra-legal, vigilantism, to "lynching", a term that connotes more of a systematic extra-legal bigotry.
Are you trying to downplay actual, historical, systematic racial persecution in defense of rapists or play up the persecution of rapists for sympathy?
Amazing - it *is* controversial to denounce lynching.
Nobody said anything about lynching being controversial or one or the other being more or less relatively controversial. It is controversial to portray a vengeance killing as a lynching.
Even in the Old West where it was all more common custom and beyond the long arms of the law, the distinction between a lynching and a hanging was more clear than you, for some reason, make it out to be.
This isn't really difficult. Neither oranges nor apples or even oranges and apples are controversial, the interchanging of oranges and apples, prototypically, is. The question is, why would you substitute one for the other?

Time to establish historical borders for Israel:
On that day, the Lord made a covenant with Abraham, saying "To your descendants I have given this land, from the river of Egypt as far as the great river, the river Euphrates". Genesis 15:18
Sounds like it's up to God to do that.
Look, take it from an American. Israel does not need bigger borders. It’s just more to patrol and more trouble.
Oh, and God does not exist, M'Lady.

And the Iranians totally did not use the billions that Biden returned to them for arming Hamas.
No, that was a different pallet of cash.

No.

And just today Hamas saying that Iran funded and helped plan the attack.
The real question is the extent to which Russia was involved. Those drone attacks on Israeli tanks were straight out of the Ukraine invasion. Almost certainly Russian training to Iranians who in turn trained Hamas
Russia gets zero out of it except maybe a temporary distraction. This was 100% Iran.
Hamas already said they bought rockets from ukraine
Hopefully this latest epic catastrophe is the one that finally pushes this motherfucker's approval ratings down into the 30s where they belong.

For those in doubt, yes, Mill's positions here were liberal. And it's a prime example of why liberalism, even "classical liberalism" is a poor foundation for libertarianism. Liberalism, with its dual commitment to liberty and egalitarianism, kind of makes sense from a libertarian perspective when coercion is the primary basis for hierarchy. But, natural hierarchies are nevertheless hierarchies and stand in the way of reaching anything resembling an egalitarian outcome. Inevitably, one gives way.
