A Galveston SWAT Team Wrecked an Innocent Family's Home. Then They Kept It From the City.
Police went silent on city officials following the botched raid that caused $5,000 in damages.

The chief of police in Galveston, Texas, has been placed on administrative leave as the city investigates a botched SWAT raid that caused an estimated $5,000 in property damage to an innocent family's home. Police subsequently withheld information about the raid, and city officials only learned of it days later following local news reports, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Galveston seems to have ample cause for embarrassment. On January 22, police executed a 2 a.m. raid at the home of Erika Rios and her family. The SWAT team's warrant was for Cameron Vargas, a 17-year-old murder suspect who visited the Rios family earlier that night but did not live with them and had left their house before police performed the raid.
"My kids and I were home sleeping," Rios said. "About 2 a.m., we were awakened by wooden pellets flying through our doors and sounds of the Galveston Police Department [saying] 'Come out with your hands up.'" Footage shows teenagers—two of Rios' children and a friend were reportedly present—walking through the house with their hands raised. Other footage shows officers dragging a woman, apparently Rios, out the front door. She claims that police handcuffed her and her son.
In a Facebook post, Tony Buzbee, one of Rios' lawyers, alleged that police continued to destroy property "after knowing they [had] made a mistake" and told Rios' daughter they were searching for "guns and drugs." Moreover, he stated, police conducted the raid despite knowing "the actual whereabouts of" Vargas (an allegation that the Galveston Municipal Police Association contests, as reported by Galveston County's The Daily News, which has provided extensive coverage as the story unfolds).
Galveston placed the police chief, Doug Balli, on leave due to his failure to report the raid. "An investigation into the incident is underway, but I was not aware of what happened until I read the article in the paper," said Mayor Craig Brown. City officials on Monday stated that the county sheriff's office will also investigate the incident.
City Manager Brian Maxwell has stated that the city would pay Rios for the damage done to her home, but a mere reimbursement seems less than her family is due.
"We want the windows replaced, their doors fixed. We want their fence fixed, the wiring fixed, and their water fixed," Buzbee said Wednesday. "All of the things you destroyed unnecessarily fixed, and we want you to pay their medical bills that they need for glass in their feet and their knees."
Buzbee stated the city must act by Friday. "We expect somebody from [the city] to get this problem fixed," he said. "We will wait, but we won't wait too long." Neither Rios' lawyers nor the city had apparently made any further statements on the matter as of Friday afternoon.
Vargas, meanwhile, had his charges dropped just days after the raid.
Cities, police departments, and unions routinely attempt to protect offending officers and stiff citizen victims. In Galveston, the police union quickly backed Balli.

Just a meeting of Future Defendants of America.
Regarding both videos: Where’s “bystander intervention” when you really need it? If the “grownups” won’t stop the beatings, why can’t other students smack down the bullies? Of course, anyone who beat up the bullies would risk being suspended for “omg violence,” but wouldn’t it be worth it?
Does the victim (I think plural, her brother was also attacked?) have a father? Someone, young or older, may find a cold but very unpleasant dish being served up to them.
No one died? Let’s call it a “win” then. They are lucky.
I think we should do without LEOs altogether. Issue firearms to all legal residents of a State and let the games begin!
Seriously folks! When you lower standards in hiring criteria, and insist that gang members be a part of a city’s police force, you are going to get a gang mentality in your local policing. See the Memphis shooting last week for Exhibit “A”. This has been going on for the past 50 years at least. And still, the left insists on less policing, more laws, and lower hiring standards.
When standards are lowered to make sure the IQ of the police force is, at the minimum, “below average” you no longer have just a few cops “on the take” for money. Instead, you have cops in the business for fun, excitement, revenge, and for the simple fun of wielding their power. If the ones in it for the money had been punished and kicked out, we would not have such an ingrained attitude of a violent gang member so embedded in the inner city police units.
Administrative hiring decisions are all now based upon “diversity” and “lived experiences.” For “diversity is our strength” you know, and it is has been told to use that it is imperative that all segments of a local society be represented in local communities when it comes to law enforcement. Once you make that decision, you are going to have criminals as cops and cops as criminals.
The major city nearest me several years ago stopped using any written tests for new police recruits. Verbal interviews only now. That was the only way they could pass enough Black recruits to meet the “diversity” requirements of the Justice Department consent decree they’re under. For a few years, they couldn’t hire ANY new white recruits until they got the number of Black officers up to the proportion demanded by the decree.
“Tony Buzbee, one of Rios’ lawyers”
Annnnnnnnnnnnd credibility level is now 0.01%
Why? Wouldn’t you lawyer up in that situation?
Tony Buzbee is a poor man’s Avenatti

Charge all officers with felony home invasion and kidnapping. If convicted, general population for them. You’ll see much less of this.
I’m fairly certain Reason will still run multiple articles daily about local police misconduct (while promoting federal cops’ false claims and misconduct).
At least no peaceful (trespassing) protestors were murdered.
Following the link (about the dropped charge) shows that this was just one part of a major fuckup on authorities’ part. Probably the police trashed the place out of pique at being so outrageously wrong.
The did it because FYTW because that’s what cops are in the 21st C.
The purpose of this is a national or global police force.
This ‘fuckup’ may be a local mistake, but it is critical to the national plan.

https://vdare.com/posts/biking-doctor-murdered-by-driver-ranting-about-white-privilege
In ritzy Dana Point, CA an emergency room doctor was riding his bicycle on Pacific Coast Highway. He was stopped at a red light in the bike lane when the driver of a Lexus hit him at high speed, sending the doctor flying perhaps 40 feet through the air. The PoC driver then did a u-turn, got out, yelled about “white privilege,” and attacked the prostrate white doctor with a knife and a BB gun. Brave onlookers apprehended the maniac, but the poor doctor died in his own emergency room.
This highlights the need for an assault weapons ban.

Vdare?
I will be cautious, and won’t call *everyone* on the Vdare site white racists, but they certainly host some white racists. Not racists in the woke sense of “criticized the Vice President,” or “said that ‘racial justice’ was no excuse for rioting,” but actually racist. Sometimes there’s a real wolf.
For purpose of discussion only, we will presume that your assertion that there are indeed some actual racists is true . . . .
Please define “racist”, as I am unable to infer from current usage what the word actually means.
Also, please explain what penalty (incarceration for what duration, fine of what amount, or both) should be imposed if a standardized and accepted definition of racist can be developed, and an individual is thereafter found to be guilty of “racism”. Would actual acts be necessary to establish “racism”, or would words alone suffice to establish that one is a “racist”, or could assumptions that are inferred from lack of prior actions (i.e., silence is violence, failure to have ever dated a person of another race or a specific race) establish probable cause for a charge of “racism”.
Lastly, would you share with us what mechanism you would propose (e.g., jury, special commission, specialized judiciary as is used in family court, SPLC-approved Star Chamber) to determine whether an accused individual is indeed guilty of “racism”, and what standard of proof (i.e., beyond reasonable doubt, clear and convincing evidence, preponderance of evidence, neighborhood rumor, reportage of divorced spouse, or simple inability to prove innocence by defendant) would be required for the chosen finders of fact to determine guilt.
Inquiring minds want to know!
Go look in a mirror. Be honest with yourself. Easy.
Haven’t checked in the mirror since I clipped the “stash” this a.m., but at the time I was damn pleased with what I saw. Your hidden meaning, please?
You mentioned censorship but I did not.
This is what I mean by racism:

Republicans vote on Tuesday
Democrats vote on Wednesday.
“In Galveston, the police union quickly backed Balli.”
If we lived in a REAL democracy, each and every political jurisdiction would get to vote on the following:
‘1) Shall we allow the hiring of employees serving the public, who belong to unions?
‘2) Shall we participate in reporting public employee misconduct into a nation-wide “blacklist”?
‘3) Shall we allow the hiring of employees serving the public, who have been blacklisted?
If we lived in a real republic, the politicians who voted to authorize this would be in prison for violations of title 18 sections 241 and 242 of the US Federal code.
SWAT is a violation of our civil rights and should invoke an entire neighborhood to flank them and arrest them if and when they arrive.
Of course, if they resist…

Sept. 8, 2000 — A man whose bid to become a police officer was rejected after he scored too high on an intelligence test has lost an appeal in his federal lawsuit against the city.
The court said the policy might be unwise but was a rational way to reduce job turnover.
Any job can be boring for someone who’s convinced they’re smarter than all this.
But if intelligent people want to be cops, by all means let them. Outwitting *some* criminals isn’t going to be a challenge, but sometimes you get a crook (or organized criminal enterprise) who displays signs of intelligence and ought to be countered by smart cops, kind of a brains arms race.
I get paid over 190$ per hour working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I’d be able to do it but my best friend earns over 10k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless. Heres what I’ve been doing..
