Raphael Warnock Defeats Herschel Walker, Removing Obstacle to Biden Administration Agenda
Democrats had already retained their majority, but by keeping Warnock's seat, they gained even more power in the upper chamber to hinder Republican opposition.

With more than 80 percent of votes in, Decision Desk reports that for the second time in less than two years, Sen. Raphael Warnock (D–Ga.) prevailed in a runoff election. Warnock's opponent, football star Herschel Walker, narrowly lost.
First elected to the Senate in a special election runoff in January 2021, Warnock has now earned a full six-year term. His victory also guarantees that not only did Democrats avoid a "red wave," but they actually gained a seat in the upper chamber.
Currently, the Senate is tied at 50 seats per party, with Vice President Kamala Harris being one of the most active tiebreakers in U.S. history. With John Fetterman's win against Mehmet Oz in Pennsylvania, Republicans' dreams of retaking the Senate were dashed, and the best they could have hoped for in potentially flipping Warnock's seat was to maintain the status quo.
But Walker's unseriousness as a candidate not only severely impaired his party's competitiveness, it also undercut potential attempts to constrain the Biden administration's agenda.
While Harris' status as President of the Senate technically gives the Democrats a majority, the official 50/50 count means the parties have to negotiate an agreement on sharing power. Committees have equal members of each party, rather than a majority in either direction, meaning that Republicans can collectively hinder Democratic priorities. For example, on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Republicans can delay Democrats' federal judgeship nominees. Committees that want to issue subpoenas must get at least one member of the opposite party on board.
But by gaining a single seat, Democrats can dispense with all of those extra steps and merely take power. Each Senate committee will gain an extra Democrat, giving the party outright majorities. And rather than simply act as a tiebreaker, Harris would be free to pursue her vice presidential priorities (whatever that may entail) without having to be on hand for votes.
Apart from Republican opposition, Senate Democrats also routinely face dissent within their ranks, chiefly from moderates like West Virginia's Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona. While the filibuster is likely to survive, as Manchin and Sinema each oppose its repeal, an extra seat will give Democrats leeway to pursue more of the party's agenda. Rather than ensuring that every single senator is present for every vote, Democrats will be able to bear the occasional dissenter or absence.
Of course, with the House under Republican control, Democrats will not have the run of the place. By the same token, Republicans promised investigations of the Biden administration, up to and including impeachment of Biden himself or members of his Cabinet. But without a Senate majority, there would be no possibility of removal.
It did not have to be this way. Nearly every single president's first midterm elections involve the president's party losing seats. Biden remains unpopular, and Americans are overwhelmingly dissatisfied with the state of the country.
But in so many competitive races, Republicans came up short after nominating flawed, illiberal candidates. Walker may have been singularly unqualified, but he was one of many poor decisions made by a party that should have had the wind at its back, going into a midterm election against an unpopular president's party.

Huh. Walker was ahead half an hour ago.
Google pay 200$ per hour my last pay check was $8500 working 1o hours a week online. My younger brother friend has been averaging 12000 for months now and he works about 22 hours a week. I cant believe how easy it was once I tried it outit..
🙂 AND GOOD LUCK. 🙂

I was watching the returns. Warnock was ahead big due to the early mail-in votes from Democrat strongholds. Then Walker gradually whittled down the lead and actually took a 2K lead once the rural vote started coming in. All of a sudden, as if by magic, Warnock jumped to a 27K lead and all of the networks simultaneously called the race. I guess they found another “lost” large batch of Democrat votes. Nothing surprising - this played out exactly like I thought it would. Oh well, another banana republic election in the books.
Thank you for being a political imbecile. Warnock was running a percentage point ahead of his November totals all night, and he finished a point ahead of Walker then. Walker was ahead occasionally since some rural counties reported first, but urban voters count also. But go ahead and whine, you fucking idiot.
You can't actually fully refute him, so you lie, squawk and call names. How very progressive of you.
I get paid over 190$ per hour working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I’d be able to do it but my best friend earns over 10k a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless. Heres what I’ve been doing..

He did refute the comment, you were too busy focusing on the name calling.
I am making $92 an hour working from home. I never imagined that it was honest to goodness yet my closest companion is earning $16,000 a month by working on a laptop, that was truly astounding for me, she prescribed for me to attempt it simply.
Everybody must try this job now by just using this website. http://www.LiveJob247.com
Hark! Did someone hear the sobbing and whining of a Trumpanzee? they "Wuz Robbed," of course, if that pro-choice libertarian candidate hadn't queered the voting with ten votes per dollar donated, a Proper Godly REPUBLICAN football scholar would be leading the charge to bully them uppity females into squeezin' out cannon fodder for the Christian Reich! That and throwing those snot-nosed hippie dowp attics under the prison for life!
Great article, Mike. I appreciate your work, I’m now creating over $35000 dollars each month simply by doing a simple job online! I do know You currently making a lot of greenbacks (igj-14) online from $28000 dollars, its simple online operating jobs.

Warnock and Walker were within 0.1% for a while. I checked several times during the evening.
I have to assume you either just make shit up to fit your narrative, or you are straight out lying, "Syd Henderson".
The way they do it is they don't count the votes in Dem districts until really late in the day. Gives a false impression of the other side being ahead, and then WHAM! the dem votes come pouring in. Not fraud or anything, just gamesmanship that the Republicans seem unable to do themselves.
Yes, I enjoy games being played.
That makes no sense. It doesn't help Democrats, but it does call into question the legitimacy of the election.
Big cities consistently vote blue which is more cultural than ideological. Big city residents, particularly minorities, don't own homes, they rent. They rely of public services (transportation, utilities, etc) more than rural residents. Basically, they are serfs who come closest to Klaus Schwab's "You will own nothing, and be happy"
The late votes all came from the Atlanta area which may or may not have involved shenanigans but in any case, the voting laws make fraud virtually undetectable which invites claims of stolen elections.
Big blue cities are notoriously slow in counting which can be explained by either incompetence or malice. Looking at the Biden administration's clear preference for people woefully incapable of even the simplest logic is the best argument for 1) incompetence in elections and 2) getting rid of Biden with almost no concern for who replaces him.
Wait a minute, Biden had nothing to do with nominating the republican candidate. I have to assume that was the "people woefully incapable of even the simplest logic" you were refering to.
Another nail in the coffin for the rule of law. When the general public figures out that the rule of law is dead, and the left are their mortal enemies, it will not end well for the left.
Corrupt Atlanta doing its best to ensure democracy is thwarted.
Thank RINO governor Kemp for that. As long as he gets the big chair, he allows Fulton County to do its thing.
Republicans probably need to ask themselves why Kemp, on the same ballot in the same election, got 200,000 more votes than Walker.
Because Walker was a horrible candidate. They ran a guy with no experience and more baggage than a 747. No wonder they lost.
There is little difference in terms of baggage between Warnock and Walker.
But in terms of actual personality and ideology, Warnock is a power hungry psychopath and socialist.
He’s also a wife beater.

Team players.
Wait, there's still an election going on? What the fuck is going on here? I thought this was all decided weeks ago!
It was, but they're still going through the motions of presenting show elections
My first thought was that it was another of those elections we have now that takes as long as necessary to achieve the desired result, so I looked it up. This election actually was held today, and the author of the article just didn't bother to say so.
The author wrote it before the election was done, posting only when 80% was counted. To say it was predetermined is an understatement.
*SOB*
They were. Months ago, actually. This is just for show and some extra ad revenue.
So... did you vote anyway?

What the GOP establishment did for the last 4 weeks: codified gay marriage, called for more Ukraine aid, negotiated amnesty for illegals, and condemned Trump
If Walker loses, they will blame it on Trump instead of looking in the mirror
True.
Did you see the McFailures standing there at the J6 tribute today?
Just wait. They’ll pass the 2023 budget now exactly as the democrats want, without resistance, before going home for Christmas.
The Washington Generals of the Uniparty.
A perfect description.
I’m stealing that line.
I hope you are one of those libertarians who doesn’t believe in intellectual property.
I will sue you for damages, in this case $0.
The GOP itself, and McConnell in particular, are the problem. Not Trump.
But Walker's unseriousness as a candidate not only severely impaired his party's competitiveness, it also undercut potential attempts to constrain the Biden administration's agenda.
Wait, since when is "unseriousness as a candidate" something that disqualifies, or even hinders someone winning office, including high office? And if he was so "unserious" and he "narrowly lost", knuckle up.
Yes, previous experience as a preacher and a community rabble rouser are much superior qualifications for a US Senator.
You prefer Pennsylvania’s brain dead approach?
He was a preacher at MLK's old church. That's not a religious position, it's a political one.
And it's the kind of position power hungry psychopaths seek out.
"Biden remains unpopular, and Americans are overwhelmingly dissatisfied with the state of the country."
I still think at this point Biden is the favorite in 2024 (if his health holds up).
I mean, we all know the Oracle of Dogdick, GA will be voting for the Big Guy and his stellar economic policies.
Biden might not be the Democrat nominee, but there is no possibility that the Republican nominee will be elected President. Maybe not ever again.
I have $1000 that says DeSantis is 47.
You need to get out more.
One can hope.
Just you wait. The Grabbers Of Pussy will be back with a plank calling for the death sentence for pushers of birth control pills. It'll be as happy a land as Romania was when Comrade Nikki Ceausescu was chattering on the podium and beaming on the couch between Tricky Dick and Football Ford, uh hilk, uh hilk...

Ideally, Marxists would be imprisoned or executed.
GOP only has themselves to blame. Ran a bunch of shit candidates in what should have been slam dunk elections. I pinched my nose and voted for a few of 'em but, damn, GOP. You really suck.
Trumps chosen acolytes with Soros money.
Does it matter? Democrats ran candidates just as bad. 70% of voters had inflation as the top priority with more thinking the direction of the country was on the wrong track, and fortified elections still elected the current party. It was the worst fundamentals for a controlling party in decades and they still maintained power. Has nothing to do with the gop candidates but fortified elections.
Do you think the gop candidates actually matter at this point?
"Do you think the gop candidates actually matter at this point?"
Yes. Run good candidates you win elections; run bad candidates you lose elections. This is not the first election that this has happened to the GOP.
By good candidates I assume you mean ones democrats select?
Did you even read my post? Democrats did not run good candidates. It doesn't matter.
Not Oz or Herschel or rabid election deniers
Lol. Please list the good democrat candidates. This should be enlightening.
The Bee always says it best:

Trump endorsed, election denying c-list celebrities are not appealing to most people.
Damn near half of them though, which says a lot about the direction of our country.
Dem PAC's funded these candidates for a reason. They did their homework better than the GOP. Their gamble paid off.
Yes, good candidates win. Why are you so against running quality candidates?
It shows how much they care.
Compared to what, Hershel? C'mon man.
So, not crap candidates, but stolen election? C'mon, is this tired excuse ever going to get old?
Yeah, same old story; one suitcase, or two?
I certainly don't. Most of them anyway. Bunch of losers following a loser. It ain't your daddy's republican party anymore.
I'd hate to judge before all the vote totals are in, but it LOOKS as though not many of Libertarian candidate Oliver's 81000 voters were dumb enough to throw away their spoiler votes on either half of The Looter Kleptocracy in this second round. Perhaps this explains how even the most undemocratic of fascists and communists are beginning to see sloppy seconds as the ONLY way they are going to wheedle any votes at all from savvy libertarians.
Yup, but judging by comments here and other places, they still won't learn the lesson.
Are you suggesting that they should have run the McConnell candidates, the ones with nothing to say but “Biden sucks!”?
With 20-20 hindsight, I don’t think that there were any good Republican candidates to offer that had strong records like DeSantis and Kemp. Both won by larger margins than in their first campaigns.
Oz and Walker could have been treated fairly by the media and the Curse of Election Denial would still have taken them out. Oz was an accomplished surgeon and businessman, and his opponent was an accomplished parasite who had never produced enough wealth to sustain himself and lived by others. Warnock was a commie-come-preacher who voted robotically.
The Curse of Election Denial put two of the most unqualified candidates into the Senate – A cognitively impaired parasite and an economically illiterate, second rate preacher. Will Republicans get the message? History suggests not.
Republicans are cowards. The question is “Who do they fear most? The Democrats or Trump?” Being a Republican means never having to say anything that might require backing it up with actions.
You have to understand nobody with half a brain wants the job of running a bankrupt country.
Biden Fetterman 2024 , it's a no brainer.
Audibly I snorted.
It won't be Biden. He probably won't even finish his first term.
I don't think so. Biden won't allow anyone who might outshine him intellectually.
Nobody happier than Tony Fauci!
Last month i managed to pull my first five figure paycheck ever!!! Buttplug must be masturbating into his third sock by now.
He's probably had an all-night orgy doing that.
It's pretty amazing how quickly the sham election got called this time around!
As the Republicans run the state, I assume the election is a sham because the Democrat won. Why did it get called earlier, because it was so clearing a win for Warnock. He won by close to 3% and in a divide state that is a significant win.
Not only that, a state that went strongly Repub in every other race. Maybe, just maybe, garbage candidates aren't the best option.
Not only that, a state that went strongly Repub in every other race. Maybe, just maybe, garbage candidates aren’t the best option.
Yes, because the republicans all over the state said 'let's vote strongly for the GOP EXCEPT in the one race where it really matters.
This nightmare will never be over until people who think like this wake the fuck up.
The exact same thing happened all over the country. In this election and the last few.
In Arizona, the state minining inspector , a republican, got way more votes than ANYONE running for governor.
Are we supposed to believe that the people cared more about that race than the gubernatorial or senatorial races?
Wake Up.
Ah, so the answer resides in another conspiracy theory? It's always entertaining to see people resort to "it must be a conspiracy" every time things don't go their way.
What do you mean 'another'?
It's the same point, revealed over and over -- the Dems are openly cheating in elections.
And republicans aren't smart enough to figure out how.
" because the republicans all over the state said ‘let’s vote strongly for the GOP EXCEPT in the one race where it really matters."
Yes, that is exactly what the Georgia Lt. Governor said on camera.
So calling the race too fast now is the problem? It's either too fast or not fast enough.
My bet is it had nothing to do with the speed of calling the election that indicates to you whether the election is a sham, it's all about who wins.
A sham election is any one where scumbags like you can manufacture and default truckfuls of fraudulent absentee ballots and they all get counted as legitimate with no real verification whatsoever.
By republicans. Go figure.
Funny how a libertarian candidate got five times the votes necessary to force The Kleptocracy looters into a runoff. Heck, even Marjorie Greene Teeth tried to read the LP platform--yet the tolkien Grabber Of Pussy writing the article remained blissfully mum on the libertarian party candidate getting TWO HUNDRED TIMES as many votes per dollar in donations. Football players note: a vote cost Oliver 10¢. A similar vote cost loser linebacker Clayton Bigsby $20 and the commie Dems $64. (http://bit.ly/3hFH6QJ)
The Georgia runoff has historically been an advantage for the Republicans. It gave them a second bite at the apple, allowing the Republican a clear field of one opponent if they lost the first election. But in 2020 and 2022 that advantage failed them. The state's population is growing, and the state is more purple. Maybe it's time to drop this expensive extra election. Or at least go to a single rank choice vote.
When the Libertarian was removed, the Democrat's lead got bigger, not smaller. Interesting.
Because libertarians had no preference between a communist and a Neanderthal.
It was a single-race runoff, and Democrats already had won effective control of the Senate, so voters weren't as motivated to show up. Kemp had some strong coattails in the state but without him, not as many Republicans getting out. If Walker had just gotten the same number of votes as he did in the general, he'd have won by a 3% margin instead of losing by a 3% margin.
So I'm not sure if there's any conclusions to draw about libertarian impact on the runoff.
Here's the thing I will say: prior to Brian Kemp, libertarians were getting 3-4% of votes in gubernatorial elections. In the last two governor's races, they've gotten less than 1%. If Republicans run candidates that appeal to libertarian voters, libertarians will vote Republican in this state. But they'll vote libertarian when the Republican candidates suck at being libertarians, even if the libertarian candidate is pretty shitty.
Joe Landcaster,
I seem to recall that Democrats donated big money to Republicans to choose which Republican candidate that the Democrat candidate would face.
To me, an independent illustrates that the Democrat party is very capable and willing to subvert the electoral process. Add in the many changes to elections since covid and I'm beginning to believe that the electoral process is actually being gamed.
Neither Biden nor Trump ever should have been president, but regardless there is voter fraud out there and rules have been made to provide an advantage to one side or the other.
The best kind of government is divided government, but with the corporate media solidly in the Democrat party camp and the bureaucracy tilting leftward, the traditional divisions no longer work.
Times change and society needs to evolve. Progressives identify issues and propose ideas to change. Unfortunately over 90% of the ideas are ill conceived and fail to resolve the issue the idea was intended to resolve.
If fact many times the intended resolution creates multitudes of more issues without resolving the initial issue. Many times Progressives create a mountain over a mole hill and react in extreme fashions.
Conservatives take a much slower approach. Many times they deny that an issue exists or downplay the issue. Their solutions are more logical, but often neglect the emotions of affected people.
Unfortunately Conservatives will often react to Progressives using the 180 degree response, which is giving into their own personal emotions. Progressives often demagogue and demonize Conservatives.
It is understandable that Conservatives would react, but in reacting Conservatives are giving Progressives a win. Conservatives tout standards and Progressives use these standards against Conservatives who fall short.
Progressives have no standards, but operate using the ends justify the means type of approach. It is difficult for Conservatives to illustrate Progressive hypocrisy, because the corporate media provides cover and Progressives have no standards.
At this moment in time Progressives are the authoritarians and the biggest threat to personal liberty. It not that Conservatives are not an authoritarian threat, but rather that Progressives hold more power and has a deep seated desire to force their views on others.
Herschel Walker may be a flawed candidate, but giving more power to the Democrat party is more of a threat to freedom and personal liberty. We have seen that there is a double standard and that the sycophantic corporate media is part of the government regime who's purpose is to provide cover for Biden and other Democrats.
The best kind of government for the USA is a *CONSTITUTIONAL* Union of Republican States.
Herschel Walker may be a flawed candidate, but....
No but. You got it right.
The last thing America needs is for the liberals and progressives in power for another six miserable years of whacko liberal policies and failures.
The repubs could have done better than Walker but somehow, once again they chose to shoot themselves in the foot.
Is it any wonder people like Sinema are defecting from both parties.
Just to be pedantic,
...they gained even more power in the upper chamber to hinder Republican opposition.
Isn't the opposition the one that does the hindering? Shouldn't this be "...to overcome/steamroll Republican opposition?"
Joe didn't want to appear too happy
So now we have a tax-cheating slumlord in the Senate, as opposed to a troubled soul . . . .
Well, before Biden, there was a tax-cheating slumlord in the White House.
You must be referring to Trump's dad, not Trump.
Your guy, Biden, was part of siccing the FBI on Flynn by way of the Logan Act. And he took showers with his daughter. Yuck.
Biden is not my guy. Thinking that your guy sucks doesn't mean I necessarily support somebody else specifically.
Trump helped his dad - which is why he was charged and lost in a racial discrimination suit as well as his dad.
How do you know Flynn took showers with his daughter?
You need some proof before you make accusations like that.
LOL you beat me to it.
Don't leave out " a valued member of the local church."
Actually, all this race proved is that big L libertarians are not libertarian at all. Had they voted R in the first round, Walker would have won 51/49. Now he lost 51/49. That means they either voted D or didn't vote.
That's right. They did not want Walker. Thank God.
And hopefully this is the nail in the coffin for the Trump era.
A good part of Walker's loss can be attributed to the influx of Northern democrat voters moving to Georgia.
A good part of Walker’s loss can be attributed to Walker. Period. I'm stunned he got as many votes as he did. What a foolish choice. Thanks Drumpf.
History repeats itself. After Lincoln's war of aggression was over the northern carpet baggers moved in to claim what was left of the carcass.
They are doing the same thing over again and no one caught on.
Well most haven't.....
>> Republican opposition.

The thrust of the Democrat celebrations seems to be that NOW we can get round to a real unbridled democracy where the 51% can smite the hell out of those pesky 49% who dare to think differently! Phew, I'm so relieved!
They still seem oblivious to the fact that the 49% can smite back.
In my lifetime (62 years old) Georgia has gone from electing racist white Democrat senators to electing racist black Democrat senators!
Awesome, totally awesome.
At 74, I'm glad that kids like you can recognize that.
And the progressive Reason staff is doing a victory dance in celebration!
Warnock is another corrupt politician hiding behind the cloak of religion.
He should be the recipient of the next Jimmy Baker award for religious hypocrisy and outright chicanery.
Hey Raphael, what's you doin bout those slums you own? Leavin dead bodies laying around for couple days don't make for a good rep ya know? Was it an O.D. or gang hit? Inquiring minds wanna know.
when was the last time an inspector stopped in at your slums? Or did you simply grease some palms in the right places?
