CDC Wants Your Vaccinated 5-Year-Old Masked Indefinitely
Director Rochelle Walensky characterizes the potential unmasking of even vaccinated children as being "complacent."

Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), was asked Wednesday morning at a White House COVID-19 Response Team briefing to explain what impact expanding vaccination to 5- to 11-year-olds would have on masking in schools. "You can speak to sort of the benefits along those lines," Associated Press reporter Zeke Miller prompted her.
Here's how Walensky responded:
After we have authorization from [the Food and Drug Administration] and recommendations from CDC we will be working to scale up pediatric vaccination. That said, it will take some time, and as I just noted, as we head into these winter months, we know we cannot be complacent. We also know that from previous data that schools that have had masks in place were three-and-a-half times less likely to have school outbreaks requiring school closure. So, right now we are going to continue to recommend masks in all schools for all people in those schools and we will look forward to scaling out pediatric vaccination during this period of time.
So the "benefits" of vaccinating kids is that kids will be vaccinated; otherwise nothing changes.
Walensky and the CDC have serially misrepresented the data on which they base their global outlier of a recommendation that kids aged 2 and older wear masks in indoor group settings. But what makes the director's comments today particularly distressing for some parents is that it offers zero off ramp; no numerical set of targets to hit; not even a distant glimmer of light when it comes to the increasingly grim and questionably scientific practice of concealing children's faces at a developmentally critical age.
"Please find a parameter to unmask children," responded infectious disease specialist Monica Gandhi of UC San Francisco. Or as Johns Hopkins epidemiologist Jennifer Nuzzo wrote yesterday, "Masks in schools were meant to be a temporary measure. It is good policy and practice to establish off-ramps for interventions that aren't meant to be permanent….We should be able to answer what conditions would enable an end."
My 6-year-old, who has spent nearly one-quarter of her life wearing masks in group indoor settings, attends a school where all the adults are vaccinated, kids and adults alike get tested once a week, and (per state requirement, as directly influenced by the CDC) everyone over age 2 wears masks, even outdoors. We live in a moderately high vaccination zip code (68 percent of all residents with at least one shot, 64 percent fully vaxxed), in a city with a lower case rate than all but six states, whose positive rate among regularly tested, unvaccinated public school students since mid-September is a minuscule 0.23 percent. I would like to know what any of those numbers need to look like in order for my daughter to see her teachers' mouths again.
Instead, as Harvard associate public health professor Joseph G. Allen wrote in Tuesday's Washington Post, "it's easy to see how schools could sleepwalk into indefinite masking for kids for at least this entire school year."
The coronavirus remains largely an older-person disease, attacking particularly those with pre-existing comorbidities. As of Oct. 20, just 542 of the 723,280 people who the CDC have counted as deaths involving COVID-19 have been under the age of 18, despite that group representing 23 percent of the U.S. population. The two age cohorts in New York City with the lowest cumulative COVID-19 case rates are the ones totally or mostly ineligible for the vaccine: children age 0 to 4 (6,049 per 100,000 people), and children age 5 to 12 (9,220 per 100,000).
As Allen points out, "In highly vaccinated New England, the hospitalization rate right now for kids under 17 is about 7 per 10 million. That is not a typo. At the worst of the delta surge in Florida, the hospitalization rate for this age group was about 1 per 100,000. It has since dropped sharply in that region, and is now approaching 1 per million again." And irresponsible journalistic scaremongering notwithstanding, these numbers accelerated downward as school doors opened this fall.
Walensky's refusal to offer parents any future hope runs the risk of doing more than just boosting alcohol sales. As Monica Gandhi points out, it reduces a potential incentive for parents to vaccinate their young'uns. "I think tying availability of the vaccine in children to taking away restrictions in adults and children provides a very positive motivation for everyone," she wrote today.
It also reinforces the growing notion that pandemic restrictions are meted out in proportion to the targets' political power, rather than vulnerability to the disease. "When the 63-year-old governor of NY goes out to crowded bars without a mask, but mandates 2-year-olds (lower risk of severe illness than vax'd governor) wear masks all day long at daycare," noted Democratic New York state legislator Rachel Barnhardt yesterday, referring to some widely circulated photos of Kathy Hochul yukking it up with some Buffalo Bills fans, "it's time for some offramps."
There are entire swaths of the country where the CDC's opinion of school masking matters not. And there are plenty of parents in CDC-obedient cities like New York and Los Angeles who view the microscopic positive-test rates of students as proof that heavy-handed restrictions work. Since the relevant public officials won't answer the question, I'll put it to the mask-happy blue-state parents: At what number—of cases, hospitalizations, vaccines, you name it—will you support allowing developmentally sensitive kids to take the damned masks off?

It baffles the mind that this cycle continues. I wonder if all the people enabling this Orwellian bullshit have really thought back to what their life as a kid in school would have been like with masks. All the conversations with your friends missed because you couldn't talk without yelling. The smile of the first pretty girl that interested you. Being able to understand the fucking teacher in a classroom.
Seriously paycheck of $19632 and all i was doing is to copy and paste work online. this home work makes me able to generate more cash daily easily. simple to do work and regular income from this are just superb. Here what i am doing.
Try now……………… READ MORE
Seriously I don’t know why more people haven’t tried this, I work two shifts, 2 hours in the day and 2 in the evening…Fwe And i get surly a check of $12600 what’s awesome is I m working from home so I get more time with my kids.

The refusal to acknowledge that masks have real negative consequences is very troubling.
I am making a good salary online from home. I’ve made 97,999 dollar’s so for last 5 months working online and I’m a full time student.HDb I’m using an online business opportunity I’m just so happy that I found out about it.

Yes, 'troubling'. In fact if this goes on much longer the issue might become 'concerning'! Those are the words of inertia.
I find measured non committal judgments 'troubling'. I find fascistic dictates and the accompanying complacency of the masses a growing threat to the union.
I don't know about "indefinite" masking - sure, we don't know exactly when it will happen, but I would say "until the heat death of the universe" is a time certain rather than undefined.
Finally, an offramp!
Boy, Matt's got kids in school, so he's gettin' REAL libertarian up in here. Next thing you know, Reason might come out vociferously against a vax mandate.
Maybe next year.
After everyone got it.
According to Chemjeff, having kids affected by the mandates means you are too emotional to be objective about such things. Or something.
They’ve already taken a position against vaccination mandates. But that’s not good enough unless they get emotional about it? It’s called “Reason” — that implies some abstention from emotional political tirades.
Yes, we've seem the weak tea on vaccine mandates.
In no particular order, they've railed against banning the mandate.
We've been carefully informed that 72 hours before the mandates millions of black people got in line to finally get their
voter idmandated vaccine, so we don't really need a mandate, anyway, right?Hey man, we've got experimental vaccines, we don't need any more restrictions, please let us be free again!
More about flyover governors banning mandates because we might damage the elusive freedom of association if blacks are allowed to eat at the lunch counter.
Well, mandates might be legal, but they just don't make sense!
Please don't treat the unvaccinated like they're dirty Jews!
The problem isn't the mandate, it's that we've deputized the guy in the paper hat behind the counter to enforce it!
A weird scientifical article about how a mandate via travel restrictions might cause more people to drown in the bathtub!
Finally one from Matt Welch upset about the k-12 vaccine mandate (he's got kiddos in the school so he's a little more invested than interns who spend their evenings in the Williamsburg bar scene).
Another from Welch about how we're firing healthcare workers over the mandate (I'm seeing a pattern here).
TooChilly asks (nicely) to not import the vaccine passport here. Oh, good times, good times.
Mayors keep partying without masks--- certainly something worth pointing out, and any sore spot on one of these tyrants should be kicked repeatedly until they go unconscious.
Nicki Minaj is a better ambassador of reason than Fauci is on mandate persuasion.
Sure, there's definitely some support for opposing the mandates. But it all feels a little too little and too late.
Liz Wolfe and Welch are the only ones willing to take the barest principled stand. But most of the others, it is either "Meh" or "Well pragmatically, science suggests this isn't necessary."
Seriously, though, what is the difference between requiring the jab, and requiring a woman be on birth control? And do we really think that Reason wouldn't be up in arms if there were a birth control mandate?
ENB hardest hit.
There is no difference. The 'My Body My Choice' or more generically, the "Body Autonomy" argument has been obliterated in a favorable liberal reading of Buck v. Bell.
And right on cue, you go off on a highly-emotional rant about vaccine mandates.
That's an odd way to read Paul's comment.
It's an understandable way if you've just been pinned to the mat.
If by odd, you mean dishonest as fuck.
Please don’t treat the unvaccinated like they’re dirty Jews!”
Chutzpah
That seems a reasonable summary but not sure what you'd rather have. I can see there's no deep first-principles type of opposition to a mandate in this articles - even though the articles are all opposition to a mandate (well - govt not corporatist blind spot of libertarians).
But I've never seen anything like that from much of the commentariat either. Just the usual lies and flimflam about the disease or the vaccines. So hey - pretend someone here gives a shit about first principles of a mandate. Argue smallpox.
It's the slippery slope of legal vaccine mandates. The disease killed roughly 500 million in the century before its eradication.
Point out where the lies are in the post.
The lies are not in that post. They are by those who pretend to argue against mandates via 'just the flu', 'we reached herd immunity a year ago', 'vaccine doesn't work', 'masks don't work' blahblahblah.
Those aren't arguments against mandates either. They are simply lies about reality.
I have yet to hear anyone argue against mandates on real principle.
"...I have yet to hear anyone argue against mandates on real principle."
None of your business.
Now you have.
Fuck off and die.
the REAL principle is that NO ONE has the authority to FORCE me to take anything into my own body. End of argument, you fail.
After the Second German War, there were the Nürenburg trials where various really nasty nazis were tried for various acts of evil against other persons, innicent of any crime or wringdoing.
Well, I was just following orders".That "defense" was tossed out. Didn't fly. YOU are responsible for that YOU do, whether someone " above" you" tells you what to do. Some of the trials concerned forced participation in "medical" experiments", mamy of heinous nature. The court ruled they were guilty of crimes, and punished.
There was a "convention" or protocol established which arose directly from the trials . Some of the things in there. NO ONE can be forced, persuaded, pressured, to accept any medical proceedure or drug without FIRST being fully informed of the nature of the drug, advised of possible adverse reaction, long term consequences, AND still retaining the option of "just saying no". That "Núenburg COnvention" is an international treaty, and as a signatory to that convention, the US are bound by its terms. NONE of thes injectioins have been "approved' by any government health regulator. They are all still "emergency use authorised" and thus considered "experimental". NONE of the recipients of these covid shots have been "fully informed", nor have may been given the optioin of "just saying no". We are, instead, being forced, at the threat of losing our income, pensions, benefits, insuranc,e medical programmes, etc. In other words we are being COERCED, PRESSURED, etc.
anything else IS the iie you ask for.
Deal. YOur turn
I said smallpox not Hitler Mr Godwin
"End of argument, you fail."
Indeed, the end of argument. You lost.
Bring the issue to court and .. you lose. Gripe and groan in letters to your congress peep and ... you lose.
More on to the next lost cause. And be happy.
Imagine how Reason would have reported on a Trump vaccine mandate.
Not until Trump recommends one. If he says we should have one, they'd oppose it.
I'd join them, mind you.
Yeah but he’s kind of an idiot when he says shit like this:
“…these numbers accelerated downward as school doors opened this fall.”
So the kids going to the hospital went down when they spent the majority of their time masked up at school? I mean, is he that obtuse?
I’m anti pretty much everything. I hate masks and refuse to wear them. My kids won’t be vax’d for however long I can postpone it, although I’m vax’d.
But masks work. Read about San Francisco back in 1918 flu days. They kept refusing to wear their masks and the shit kept coming back over and over until they finally made laws and everyone started getting fined for no mask. Then when everyone complied, the flu was gone.
Maybe the flu disappeared coincidentally at the same time mask use was enforced. Maybe masks got rid of it. Something to keep in mind.
Even if it did work that way in 1918 (which I remain unconvinced of), if masks were going to get rid of this virus, then it would have happened. We had quite high mask use in most of the country for many months.
Follow the SCIENCE for a change.
Some homework to help you find the path.
Investigate the size range in microns (one million microns equals in inch) of the Cornoavirys CoV2.
Now do some research, proibably at the manufacturers of the various masks they are pushing. Find uot the diameter of the fibres, first, then the diameter of the threads twisted together WITH the fibres. There will, or ocurse, be spaces, gaps, between the individual fibres and the threads they comprise. Find out the size of the openings between fibres, first, then between the threads as they are gthered and twisted together. . NOW divide the diameter of the virus particles into the size of the space between the FIBRES, first, then between the THREADS the fibres make up. NOW find out the mostrous gaps between those THREADS as they are woven togther, or compressed, or whatever the technique chosen, to make the threads into a fabric.
Now come back and explain HOW it is that more than a thousand viral particles could line up in formation "hold halds " (lock spikes?) forming a long straight line of the particles.. and well over a thousand of them can waltz right past the threads and out into the wild blue yonder, searching for a home.......
another more certin test you can run.
Find someone who smokes cigerettes. Ask them to stand a few feet hbehind you while you get settled into a comfy position, your mask all prim and proper, well fitted, fresh and clean (not the rag you've carried in the entre console of yuor car for the last month). Have him hold a candle that is lit. Whenever he feels like it, have him light his cigarette. Have him, or someone else, time how long it takes for you to smell the ciggy smoke and raise your hand..The smoke molecules are many times larger than the SARS coV@ virus. IF you can smell his smoke, then your mask certainy will pass the virus right on through, not even much delay.
Do it, then figure out WHY you insist in slaping that nappie accross yer mug.
Now you can pat yourself on the head for being a gullible fool, and spineless into the bargain.
If you really want to complete the project, research the BAD EFFECTS, damage, viral and backterial infestations, moulds, chemicals latent within the mask material, next learn how they, when properly fitted and worn per protocols, , restrict your breathing, leading to hypoxia, tachyrhythma, even fainting dead out...... maybe not in YHOU but in others.
Yes dear...
lucky for me I don't have a five year-old or listen to the CDC
Unfortunately it appears that most of the CDC is staffed by people with the mental and emotional capacity of 5 year olds.
Good. Then you can stand up for those who DO have young children. Don't you realise we are ALL in the fight for our very existance? LOOK at the carp they've managed to make us DO/NOT DO this past two years. And more is comind as they succeed with these things, get more bold and insane, and more creative at their kabiku theatre. Before we know it we'll be getting trucked off to the gulags. And yes, they WILL have drivers, because THOSE trucks will not need vaxxed drivers.
Lucky for me I have six kids, none of whom wear masks, and none of whose teachers wear masks, and all of whom participate in normal activities also without masks or distancing or testing or any of that shit.
Wheee Texas!
Watch this short video. Excellent time-table of the devolution of vaccine effectiveness with voice over from "Tony" Fauci, put to music.
So is Tony on boards here Fauci????
good work @ke11y
It should be noted that the piece of music playing is "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite. Whether you prefer to liken Fauci to a sugar plum fairy or a nutcracker, you're right.
Thank you, I really wanted to remember the name of that tune, but all I could think of was the Nutcracker, but I knew that wasn't the name of the damned tune.
wait, no, dance of the sugar plum fairy is a different tune. Something's not right.
the tune is 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' by Edvard Grieg, who composed the music for Ibsen's 'Peer Gynt...'
The Sicilian pronunciation of "Fauci" is "Finook".
I liken Fauci to a corpse with an animated broom shoved up its ass.
Yeah it is actually In the Hall of the Mountain King
I got it wrong too, thinking it was the song from Fantasia which...actually is called The Sorcerer's Apprentice.
^
Thank you.
Nice.
Obviously these people have never met a five year old.
My thoughts exactly.
Forget it. Their snotty emissions are gonna be everywhere in that classroom.
And when this disease begins to rip through the schools, k-12 students will be piling up in the morgues.
What planet are you from?
He's from a wonderful little planet that has sarcasm, Yours may not, in which case let us have a moment of silence for that which you have been deprived of... okay, done now.
"And when this disease begins to rip through the schools, k-12 students will be piling up in the morgues."
And they'll be occupying EVERY IC BED IN THE COUNTRY!!!!!!
What do you mean? They are 5 year olds.
of course. They hate and despise them, and thus have NO compunction toward being nice to them, or allowing them any life form approaching normal.
These are the psycho cases. Off to the room with the rubber walls with their kind.
How does this serially lying Walensky lady even look at hirself in the mirror?
No reflection?
That's GOOD!
This is the current version of the famous elephant whistle - A guy walks around San Francisco blowing on a loud whistle. When asked what he is doing he says "It is an elephant whistle . Scares away elephants."
The questioner says "But there are no elephants in San Francisco."
The guy says "See? It works!"
The masks on kids is Walensky's whistle.
her rose coloured glasses are tinted so darkly she cannot see through them. Either than or her own mask has been glued on her mug for so long she has gone hypoxic and simmered all her brain cells into a smelly mush.
We live in the sticks. There's a rural elementary school about two miles from my house. No one wears a mask, including faculty.
IDAHO IS FILLING UP OUR EMERGENCY ROOMS WITH THE UNVAXXED!
Think of the children, you callous bastard Bob.
That's funny, because everywhere else the majority of people dying are vaxxed. And fat. If they can mandate the vaccine, they can mandate weight loss. At least we know that is good for you, with zero side effects.
Just say No.
Look, Biden promised during the campaign to shut down the virus. By any reasonable standard he's succeeded — he did deliver the vaccine, after all — but the government still needs your and your children's compliance.
#LibertariansForBiden
#LibertariansForMaskMandates
Not funny
Imagine how much richer Chuck Koch will get if everyone finally gets smart enough to comply.
So has anyone defined when it ends? What constitutes the end of the 1 year and 8 month emergency that is not an emergency.
The stupid lawn gnome keeps moving the goal posts.
Emergency's have an end. This is not an emergency
I'll have to report you to the Ministry of Truth.
It all ends in two weeks, just sit tight.
They aren't even moving the goal posts. They have taken them away completely. There is no criteria for when kids can go unmasked. They aren't explaining what the heck they are waiting for.
it ends when a sufficient number of people simply take their own mugnappie off their mug, have it into the nearest dustbin, and walk on through their daily affairs without it.
I never put mine on. They've given me a dozen or so of the infernal thing. They are alying about here and there, mostly in the big "container" hanging off the back of the doghouse in my van. Once ina while a friend will think HE needs one, and ask If I mind. I say, of course not, I don;t mind if yuo take one of those I've enver worn any of them. But i DO mind that you even want to slap one accross your own mug. Strange look comes my way... once one of them even went into the market wiht me barefaced. He kind of liked it. NO ONE did a thing.
" It is good policy and practice to establish off-ramps for interventions that aren't meant to be permanent..."
Which is why there is no off-ramp.
The offramp metric is zero. Zero covid cases. Anywhere. Because this Wollensky chick has no plan for such a thing, nor does she have the constitution to perform an executive job that requires actually making hard decisions.
As evidence, see her crying on TV and shrieking about impending doom in March. 2 months AFTER the covid peak, before Delta had arrived, when numbers were crashing to almost nothing,
Bureaucrats don't give a shit how much they inconvenience people. As long as they don't get blamed for something going wrong, keep collecting a paycheck, and exercise their power, they are just fine. All of the extraneous effects don't get blamed on her, just covid numbers, right? So fuck you, wear a mask forever. You can never be too safe, right? It's for the children. It's such a simple thing. You're saving the earth. There are starving kids in Africa.
"...Bureaucrats don’t give a shit how much they inconvenience people..."
She is not inconvenienced one bit; she's getting 100% of her income, she travels where and when she wishes, and it's a good bet that mask is on only when cameras are around.
The only skin she has in the game is the positive feedback of fame; zero cost.
Meaning we have to get someone in office who'll declare there are 0 cases.
Walensky and the CDC have serially misrepresented the data on which they base their global outlier of a recommendation that kids aged 2 and older wear masks in indoor group settings.
CDC knows nothing but masks and vax. It was obvious from last Feb that the entire org needs a complete overhaul. imo - transfer it to an interstate compact and let states thrash out how to manage it before anyone else should pay attention to it. At best it can assemble data.
The coronavirus remains largely an older-person disease, attacking particularly those with pre-existing comorbidities. As of Oct. 20, just 542 of the 723,280 people who the CDC have counted as deaths involving COVID-19 have been under the age of 18,
And the last people who should be offering any info on how to deal with covid and kids is someone who trots out hoary tropes that focus on the old folks. Keerist - within the last 3 hours, there is an article re a new research study that says mild/asymptomatic covid in kids doesn't seem to produce antibodies at anywhere near the same scale as the same mild/asymptomatic covid in adults. And I've seen other research that indicates that some forms of longer-term (sub-fatal) covid heart/lung damage is not correlated with whether the disease manifested with symptoms. Have no idea whether that was in adults or kids or both. If it's verified - that combo could be a real bad outcome over time.
But hey - just keep repeating stuck on stupid and repeating stuck on stupid media and stuck on stupid DC. Only immediate death matters to kids. And the disease only affect grandparents and older. Fucking stupid ass NYC parents.
You need to be more afraid.
CDC knows nothing but masks and vax. It was obvious from last Feb that the entire org needs a complete overhaul.
I thought you had learned something from the drubbing you took in the other thread.
mild/asymptomatic covid in kids doesn’t seem to produce antibodies... And I’ve seen other research that indicates that some forms of longer-term (sub-fatal) covid heart/lung damage...
Nope. Still panic whoring. Conflate and confuse. Conflate and confuse. Conflate and confuse.
anyone "asymptomatic" has such a small viral load they do not have symptoms, AND they cannot spread the virus they do not have in suffucient numbers to spread. If they have enough viral load to be capable of spreading it, they WILL HAVE SYMPTOMS.
These eedjits in gummit seem to think they can fool ALL Of into thinking this virus behaves like a cartoon character in the kid flick,s doing things impossible for any other virus. Well, news flash.. a virus is a virus and its gonna behave like any other virus.
Per virology 301 in med school.
"mild/asymptomatic covid in kids doesn’t seem to produce antibodies at anywhere near the same scale as the same mild/asymptomatic covid in adults."
Which is the sort of irrelevant distraction one brings up when the death statistics they like to scare people with don't scare people enough. The risk from COVID to kids is so vanishingly small as to be a rounding error. It is most certainly NOT something requiring federal or even state intervention.
There is ZERO scientific consensus to suggest that kids under the age of 24, let alone elementary school age are at any substantial risk from COVID.
"'just keep repeating stuck on stupid"
This is RICH coming from JSafe, who is doing exactly the same scare mongering ("This obscure research paper I read says there may be some risk to kids perhaps possibly- it's not clear, but we should be very worried") that the media has been doing for the last 18 months.
To be fair, it’s the same scare mongering he’s been doing for the last 18 months too.
And by the way: Here is the SCIENCE! (tm) that JSafe, in his sage wisdom, has reviewed in order to pronounce people he disagrees with as "Fucking stupid ass NYC Parents":
A Reuters article summarizing a study THAT HASN'T PASSED PEER REVIEW in AUSTRALIA, comparing 57 children to 51 adults. And the study was able to detect antibodies in 37% of kids as opposed to 76% of adults.
That's it. It is a press article. On a study still pending peer review. In a country that is EXTREMELY atypical for COVID transmission. And with a vanishingly small, localized population. And the reason not detecting antibodies is important in the first place is merely that it *might* indicate a higher chance of reinfection- which, again, has not been shown by ANYONE to pose a significant risk to children in general.
So there we have it people. JSafe the Libertarian got his SCIENCE! (tm) from the paper this morning. 50 kids in AUSTRALIA showed they MIGHT have an increased risk of infection from a disease that poses little to no risk to them. And that makes him so smart, opposed to NYC parents.
Well played, JSafe. Well Played. If I find 50 kids to tell you to fuck off with your condescending, tyrant-enablement, will you take that as SCIENCE! (tm) too?
Yes JFree, we should be scared at the less than 400 kids who died of covid often with serious co morbidities.
Do you ever say anything about Covid that isn't just plain stupid fearmongering?
It isn't really the fearmongering that gets me (even if it IS annoying). It is the condescending assholery. JSafe read an article on REUTERS people! REUTERS! That makes him smarter than all those "stupid ass" NYC parents.
Welch points out uncontroversial data accepted the world around- data that has led countries around the world to be far more permissive with schools- but he is a "stupid ass" because JSafe read an article in REUTERS (!!!) about a study of 57 kids in fucking OZ that hasn't even passed peer review.
JSafe playing Reason's own version of The Office's Michael Scott- so self assured in his incompetence- would be funny, if folks like him were not collectively driving this country off of a cliff.
He denies what he has said multiple times, like pushing 4 million Americans dead.
His understanding of the science is like a person reading chapter titles of a biology book and asking for a PhD.
No actually what gets you is merely the idea that some reality somewhere will conflict with or even raise questions about your narrative. Like all of your ilk, you will lie through your fucking teeth to preserve your belief in that. You will assert that Welch points out uncontroversial data accepted the world around- data that has led countries around the world to be far more permissive with schools. When that single data point is in fact almost completely meaningless precisely BECAUSE it is known everywhere - including CA and NY. That info is not what leads to countries being permissive re schools.
At most, that data point leads countries to find out whatever they can find out about the impact of covid on kids. They can accept all that info and make their decisions - meaning opening schools up without all sorts of bullshit because they know what they are actually doing - based on that additional info. YOU are the one who can't accept any additional information. Your entire spiel, like all your ilk, is lalalalalala I can't hear you lalalalalala. Well guess what. That's why no one is listening to you either and why you are irrelevant outside these threads. FFS - you can't even get your own school district to listen to you.
You complaining about people’s interactions with reality is fucking rich.
See the problem you have is that NPIs don't actually stop the virus, so you're just adding lockdown deaths to covid deaths.
Distancing absolutely does stop transmission. Working at home stops transmission. Restricting the massive crowded events stops transmission. Quarantining and isolation of those who test positive stops transmission. Even masks stop transmission in the particular circumstances of a)a culture that understands that masks say 'Please keep your distance' and b)a fluid crowd (grocery stores but not schools/offices).
That doesn't mean any of those can or should be done in a free society. But yeah - they do stop transmission.
And honestly - unless you can come up with an alternative explanation beyond 'lockdown' for exactly how 800,000 or so extra people have died, then I will go with covid. How does 'lockdown' on a death certificate work exactly? Are people choking to death on the k? Do they suffocate because they failed to open the windows? Are they all going crazy and crashing their cars into trees because they 'tested positive'?
"Distancing absolutely does stop transmission. Working at home stops transmission. Restricting the massive crowded events stops transmission..."
Death stops transmission; please fuck off and die.
Do your knees ever get sore?
The cdc remember was also one of only two places that bumbled their tests so bad that the tests were infected with covid. The other place was unsurprisingly our ally the UK. Almost like it wasn’t on accident. Almost like we fucking created the virus and with the help of the chinks, deployed it to the world. But who wants to unwrap that turd?
The problem isn't the CDC specifically (though they're certainly a problem). The problem is public health as a discipline, which has totally collapsed into a widget-based mindset mated to a risk tolerance which approaches zero.
Agree. I've been waiting for 'eat your kale' to be included in the covid requirements.
As we all learned over the year or so, nothing good comes out of atlanta
Coca Cola
Rev. Martin Luther King jr.
Hank Aaron.
Busiest airport on the planet. Well second anyway.
HQ base for Home Depot, Delta, UPS.
Nothing good ever came from Atlanta.
Walensky should just keep her big mouth shut until ADMIRAL Levine decides what our sailing orders will be.
Methinks Levine may not be that officious. She may have been aggressive in her youth but she is no longer too teste.
Nothing she’s done has been admirable.
Benjamin Franklin does not do drag well, and that walrus involved in a national HEALTH organization is a farce.
At the end of all this we're going to need another Nuremberg court to bring a lot of the frauds who imprisoned, destroyed and bankrupted hundreds of millions, to justice.
Sorry, there's no Allied Army coming to rescue us this time.
You have an army. More like a militia. They wear scrubs many of them. Some of them are getting burned out. They are accused of deceiving the public for profit. They are liars. They are taken for granted. As if.
They are trying around the clock to bring you miracles and wonders not good enough for some of you. As if such things happen all by themselves. They do this at your local CVS, community hospital, clinics, health departments, the laboratories and research centers around the world.
Somewhere at this hour an ED doc, a hospitalist, a nurse, lab tech, pharmacist, radiology tech getting the morning portables, a sleepy intern, the guy who cleans up the floors is finishing up their shift. Hoping to go home and get some rest. Yet you don’t have an army. You do. You just don’t know it.
And many of those in scrubs have been fired from their jobs for refusing the vaccine mandates. So many in some places that entire hospital departments have had to shut down. A local hospital in upstate NY has had to close its maternity ward, after about 30 people have resigned since the vaccine mandate was announced, most of whom held clinical positions like nurses, therapists and technicians. Houston Methodist hospital is one of several Houston hospitals experiencing a severe shortage of medical personnel, but it decided to fire 150 nurses who were not vaccinated.
They did not want to work there to begin with. This is a no brainer. Back in the days we had this 5’2” Jamaican nurse. On flu shot day she had a cart and a check sheet. There were no questions and you did not want to tangle with her. She would give me a dose to take home for my wife who was a teacher then.
Sleeve, jab, done.
If they did not wish to take this simple precaution than thank you for your service. Should you change your decision you are welcome to apply back with us.
An army, whatever you want to call it has rules. It cannot function without those. This is one of them.
Your argument has no standing for the Covid recovered.
That's not what he means. How is that army going to bring the tyrants who have been trashing our rights for 20 months to justice?
I have great respect and sympathy for the medical professionals who are working very hard (provided they don't make it into some political scapegoating thing). But they are not doing much to help us maintain our fundamental rights, and that in my view is the larger concern. The virus will eventually calm down. Rights are hard to get back once they are gone.
Autonomy is the first commandment of medicine. It is also not in the business of protecting rights. It is not law. That is another campus.
So then that’s not the army he was talking about. So congratulations on the total non sequiter.
What army was he talking about? You cannot fight a virus with tanks and bullets.
He’s not talking about the virus either.
It's just a simple, porous, cloth covering that covers most of a child's face. Come on, man. Mandates will set us free!
Just like work will set you free?
Not at all like it. Specious offensive analogy. 1.5 million children intentionally murdered in the Holocaust.
Well some of, parts of, sometimes.
"Two weeks to flatten the curve!" ~February, 2020.
Two years to flatline the economy.
I thought stratifying COVID risks by age or infirmity was medical misinformation, unless Colin Powell died
with/ofadjacent to it.You thought wrong.
So why the concern with schools? Let 'em be.
#defundCDC
How has Walensky not been fired yet?
Run the CDC? I'm not sure she's emotionally and temperamentally stable enough to be the night-shift manager of a Del Taco (when only the drive through is still open).
I could see if the President just doesn't want to set the bar of being unfit for a job at being prone to unprovoked emotional outbursts and deliberately spreading actual disinformation while pretending to "follow the science".
Go ahead get rid of her. You will not be any happier with her replacement.
How do you know that?
The left has thoroughly thrown in with the zero risk public health officials. The idiot Biden even made the idiot Fauci his "chief COVID advisor," or some nonsense like that. There is way too much of a political risk to leftists in taking this clown car off the road.
Looks like we will each have to choose: Eloi or Morlock.
Choose wisely.
1. Remove statues of slaveowners.
2. Train children to be subservient.
3. Bring back slavery.
We're at step 2.
Welch,
No sympathy for you. You supported all this crap for the last 20 months.
What's next? Failure to sufficiently mourn Saint Babbitt equals celebrating her death? Failure to sufficiently condemn BLM equals support for riots? What about that thing Reason never mentioned which gives an opportunity to create a strawman and knock it down?
Fuck Reason! They were mean to Trump!
Lol OMG your butthurt brokenness is SO DELICIOUS!
You sound like a broken man.
Also, a couple of months ago Welch wrote a column where he was butthurt that his fully vaccinated older child was still required to wear a mask. Not once did he mention that unvaccinated children shouldn't wear masks either. Welch is a child abuser who required his child to get an experimental gene therapy for no benefit to him/her whatsoever.
He must have thought there was a deal in place that the authorities later welched on.
"...Failure to sufficiently mourn Saint Babbitt equals celebrating her death?..."
Steaming pile of lefty shit is now trying to justify his celebration of the murder of an unarmed protester.
Hard to crawl that low, but there he is.
Is anyone else disappointed in Fauci for not recommending 3 masks yet? I mean, the one pandemic prediction that was working at all has now failed.
The numbers for the offramp are midterms and maybe mean tweets being ok, Welch.
But if you want to be safe, by all means continue to vote nanny state and we can have more of this.
Or maybe the offramp comes with acceptance of national repurposed drug trials, such as the ACTIV-6 trial the NIH is running (that no large media outlets mention) using *gasp* Ivermectin among other heinous conspiracy theory animal treatments.
Or maybe the offramp is when enough people give 'em the finger.
Walensky characterizes the potential unmasking of even vaccinated children as being "complacent."
I'll bite. What is "potential unmasking"?
Ever watch the Scooby Doo cartoon?
The possibility that vaccinated children won't wear masks if the schools left the decision to the parents.
The news is not all good folks. With full knowledge of the fact that the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine can cause autism in African-American boys between the ages of 3 - 7 years old, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) still recommends ALL children get vaccinated https://theslevy.com/ .
There is no good evidence linking autism to vaccinations, nor a plausible mechanism. This is supposed to be a place for reasoned ideas, not long ago disproved crank medical hypotheses.
Amid coronavirus many new companies are starting Telemedicine
with which you can get treated sitting at home .It is going to be life changing
Telemedicine is to medicine as phone sex is to sex.
No and it is nothing new.

This is as good of a time as any to point out that there have been nearly as many COVID deaths under Biden as under Trump.
Totally unfair because presidents can't stop an airborne disease, but, how many folks accusing Trump of killing nearly 400,000 Americans will accuse Biden of the same thing for consistency? Nobody.
Biden's 100 days to stop COVID was just as wrong as Trump's hope it will go away by last Easter. Coincidentally, 100 days after inauguration isn't that far off Easter this year. Are COVID scolds after him for that? No.
It is the lack of consistency that pisses me off the most. I could deal if some people went off on both Presidents equally. But when they give Biden a pass on the exact same thing that Trump did, it reveals that all of this has been as much a cudgel to use on Trump as a genuine attempt to respond to a pandemic.
I think more troops died in Afghanistan and Iraq under Nobel peace prize winner Obama than under the warmonger Bush.

A lot of you seemed to have missed something. As soon as masks go away in schools, so does any leverage for the Teacher's Unions. It is already known that the American Federation of Teachers had influence in the mask mandates. It is also known how the Biden Administration panders to the Unions. The CDC gets the majority of it's funding from the Federal Government. Who controls the Federal Government? Anyplace else it's collusion, here it's just the norm.
I don't know about you all, but I'm SO looking forward to spending my dotage in a world that will now be run by all these Kovid Kidz. I doubt I'll be able to leave my own house because FEAR! That Something! Will Kill Me!
"CDC Wants Your Vaccinated 5-Year-Old Masked Indefinitely"
If I don't have a vaccinated 5-Year-Old, will they issue me one? Can I defer that?
The CDC and any elected official demanding mask mandates should be required to wear their masks 100% of the time and drink all their nutrition through a straw to set an example for every one. This should be enforced and monitored to make sure that they don't cheat like now when they are caught on camera not wearing masks
If they are sane after 18 months then we can entertain mask mandates. This could be a case study of the effects of masks. Hey, it would be science then 😉
"We also know that from previous data that schools that have had masks in place were three-and-a-half times less likely to have school outbreaks requiring school closure"
This begs at least a couple of questions. Define "school outbreak" and define school closure requirements.
Good ole reason, campaigning hard for the GOP with all kinds of self-contradictory willful ignorance about science.
The GOP was not responsible for this:
https://twitter.com/ke11ybender/status/1448936949012578304
Good ole steaming pile of lefty shit, hoping no one will notice the lies.
Fuck off and die.
The vaccinated are spreading the variants, so they should wear masks. Important to also note, it's child abuse to vaccinate or mask kids.
great post..
“Great share!”
