A.G. Merrick Garland Tells FBI To Investigate Parents Who Yell at School Officials About Critical Race Theory
School boards want some perturbed parents branded domestic terrorists.

Taking note of a supposed "spike" in harassment and intimidating behavior directed at public school officials, Attorney General Merrick Garland has instructed the FBI to be on the lookout for angry parents demanding accountability at school board meetings.
On Monday, Garland sent a memo to the federal law enforcement agency directing it to coordinate with the nation's 14,000 school districts. This action comes after the Biden administration received a plea from the National School Boards Association (NSBA) to protect schools from the "imminent threat" of parents sending "threatening letters and cyberbullying" school officials. The association considers such activities to be akin to "domestic terrorism."
"As these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes," wrote the NSBA.
Has some great number of teachers, principals, and district leaders come under violent attack? Of course not. What both the Justice Department and the concerned school boards are really talking about it is the increased number of recent community meetings that have featured angry feedback from parents. These parents are sick of COVID-19 mitigation efforts that have relegated actual students to afterthought status within the education department: the farce of virtual learning, mandatory closure when asymptomatic cases are detected, ceaseless masking. Young people who have the least to fear from the pandemic—the severe disease and death rate for the under-18 crowd is extremely low—have been forced to make tremendous educational and social sacrifices to bend the curve of COVID-19. Families are fed up with a public education system that puts the needs of students last, and they are speaking up about it.
Many parents are also increasingly concerned about the curriculum in their schools. Garland's memo garnered widespread attention in conservative media circles yesterday after it was shared on Twitter by Christopher Rufo, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute who works to expose what he has termed "critical race theory." As I wrote previously, whether or not CRT is literally being taught in many K-12 schools hinges in part on a semantics argument. CRT, the obscure academic theory positing that the structures of U.S. society are racist to their core—and thus it is impossible to separate or ignore racism when confronting other issues—is not exactly sweeping U.S. kindergartens; but CRT—the tendency to reduce individuals to crude racial stereotypes that is pushed by divisive and misguided anti-whiteness gurus like Robin DiAngelo and Ibram X. Kendi—has certainly become an important component of corporate and university diversity training, and is, to some extent, trickling down to K-12 instruction.
Parents should be forgiven for not wanting their kids to be taught from the perspective that "objectivism," "individuality," and "a sense of urgency," are aspects of whiteness, and that black students struggle to think analytically for racial and cultural reasons. These are racist assumptions; they are false, and they do not belong in schools. Yet they were elements of "Characteristics of White Supremacy Culture," an instructional document that has drawn plenty of citations in educational settings. To the extent that the phrase critical race theory is shorthand for this sort of thing, the outrage about it seems justified.
But even if it were not, parents should still enjoy the right to speak up at school board meanings and demand a say in their children's education. Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat, recently lashed out at anti-CRT efforts, asserting that "I don't think parents should be telling schools what they should teach."
He must have forgotten that the public school system is supposed to serve the needs of families, and not the other way around. Direct meddling in the day-to-day teaching decisions of teachers can be burdensome and counterproductive, but these parents aren't monitoring the classrooms: They're showing up to public meetings to exercise their First Amendment rights and participate in the democratic process of managing a public institution. And they often encounter furious resistance from public officials, who have turned off microphones, ended comment periods early, and occasionally mocked parents behind their backs.
It's true that some school board meetings have turned raucous, and undoubtedly there are examples of parents overreacting, or even engaging in harassment. But there's no evidence whatsoever that this represents some great danger necessitating the involvement of the FBI.

Fuck Merrick Garland
Fuck Joe Biden
I’d really prefer not to.
Fuck Joe Biden.
Fuck Biden, Garland and Trump for signing reauthorization of sect 702 of FISA. How many moms and dads are having secret courts having secret warrants issued?
Fuck you Tom Cotton, you wanted this!
Merrick Garland should be arrested for treason.
Not treason, but conspiracy to violate civil rights.
Can’t it be both?
Treason is the only crime defined in the Constitution: "Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort." The writers had seen "treason" grossly misused by the British, and intended to prevent such misuse by limiting it to only armed rebellion, bringing a foreign army against the US, or aiding foreign enemies - and that doesn't mean just foreigners who dislike us, but only foreigners who make war on us. Biden's puppeteers may have nominated a couple of people who adhered to our enemies under a loose enough definition of "enemies", but I'm not aware of anything like that by Garland.
Garland and other Democrats really want to overthrow the Constitution. This was NOT included in the definition of treason, because if it was, it would become a pretext for those in power to outlaw trying to change the Constitution - or to outlaw trying to correct a misreading of the Constitution that was useful for those in power. But since they are not actually proposing an amendment, but just ignoring rights protected by the clear text of the Constitution, they _are_ guilty of violating civil rights, and a long time ago "liberal" Democrats (and former liberal Republicans) made the laws against _that_ quite broad enough.
Yah but 18 USC 242 also provides the death penalty and that's what we'll use to execute all these subversives.
We do need to execute a number of them. Some of these marxists are an ongoing threat. The world will be so much better off when they are gone.
CRT is racist Marxism. Both are good things to Democrats. Marxism is the desired goal of Democrat Progressives. Racism keeps the Darkies on the Democrat plantation to vote Democrat. Democrat laws keep dark skinned people poor and dependent upon their government. They are trapped in bad schools and denied school choice, denied starter jobs for on the job learning by job killing high minimum wages, and burdened with family killing welfare rules. Racist beliefs in the black community are a convenient coverup.

Garland is a domestic terrorist for suggesting this. Any fbi employee who complied with this also becomes one. Their offense? Violation of the 1A with others rove added later.
Imagine if he was a Supreme Court Justice.
He'd be Kagan or Sotomayor. They are no different.
Imagine having two Kagans or Sotomayor on the Supreme Court.
Don't you mean imagine having three? We already have two of them.
Sotomayor at least gets some of the 4th amendment stuff right. I doubt Garland could even muster that.
Only sometimes. She didn't care about 4th amendment protections of the other party. Just defendents she has emotional appeals for,.
Garland's son-in-law is reportedly a K-12 CRT education entrepreneur.
That is how so many lefties become millionaires..providing "services" to govt created agencies and "needs"
Don't hate the player, hate the game.
I don't see any problem with hating the player.
Tell God that on your Judgement Day. I don’t see how people can proactively take advantage of others? Why?
Where would the donkey party be without rent seekers?
CRT education enterpreneur? What's that? Founder of Kendijugend?
Can you imagine if it was one of Trump’s appointments that had relationships like that? It would all you would hear about.
Agreed
Not with a stolen dick.
To think we missed the opportunity to have this fuckin’ guy on the SC for life. What a loss.
My eternal gratitude goes to Mitch McConnell who made sure that this leftist nutjob doesn't end up in the SCOTUS. What did Obama say? That Garland is a moderate?
This is all Obama that’s going g on now. He still has all his records sealed. Screams about rising water climate change, yet he lives on the coast in a $15 million dollar house.
F7ck Be Unto Merrick Garland! Never trust a man with two last names!
Parents should be forgiven for not wanting their kids to be taught from the perspective that "objectivism," "individuality," and "a sense of urgency," are aspects of whiteness, and that black students struggle to think analytically for racial and cultural reasons. These are racist assumptions; they are false.
Well if all of these notions parents are opposing are false, then why do parents need to be "forgiven?"
C'mon, man! Stop granting the premise of the enemy, Rico!
Garland needs to be removed from office over conflict of interest.
Other than being a communist and authoritarian scum he isn't fit for anything except a man hole cover inspector, even then he would mess that up.
Excellent news.
Of course like all principled Koch / Reason libertarians I voted for Biden knowing he would open the borders and make billionaires richer. But stuff like this is the icing on the cake.
#LibertariansForCRTInPublicSchools
That schtick wasn't funny when you first started it and it hasn't aged well.
Disagree.
OBL is a national treasure.
OBL's comments are consistently funny (sad really).
Go crawl back in your slimy little hole, fascist!
Whooooooosh.
(Sound of a parody post sailing overhead.)
Oh, I think he gets the parody. He just thinks that being against open borders (or maybe CRT) makes you a fascist. What a dolt!
Terrorism sounds like a really bad word but it's literally just employing violence because of politics. It's like kicking some poor drunk Alabama fan's ass after an LSU game instead of yelling at him. My point is that you should guard yourself against extremism because it's easy to step over the line.
I think there's a bit more to terrorism than that. There have been plenty of political street fights in history and I don't think that terrorism is the right word to describe such events.
Terrorism USED TO mean committing violence against the innocent in order to pressure/embarrass the guilty who claim to represent/protect them and to terrorize other innocent into believing they could be next.
The practice of terrorism is now the cornerstone of the democrat party.
I think that it is now abundantly clear that American political system is no longer functioning. We have secret courts, AG sends FBI on the people who dissent, state AGs can decide not to prosecute minor misdemeanors like murder, extortion or looting, USA is not enforcing its own immigration laws. We need some serious reforms.
We need to get rid of the democrats. Do you see any of this going away without at least a significant reduction in the total number of democrats?
Conservatives need to win back the House and Senate in 2022 and then deal out righteous retribution to the libtards. The first thing that needs to be done is UNDOING EVERYTHING THE LIBTARD DEMS PASSED INTO LAW.
I’m skeptical that is even possible now, elections are co promised. Since they got away with it last time, it will be far worse going forward.
It is now likely the only way to save this country will involve eliminating a lot of leftist. Either through forced expatriation of their kind, or more extreme measures. Should they resist.
Free helicopter rides!
When you have a government that doesn't respect the law, how can you expect it's citizens to respect the law?
Terrorism is the use of violence, threats of violence, property destruction and intimidation in order to effect political or social change. You know, like how the left behaved when trump was in office.
"Terrorism USED TO mean committing violence against the innocent in order to pressure/embarrass the guilty who claim to represent/protect them and to terrorize other innocent into believing they could be next."
^Yes, this. Parents are directing their anger at the responsible parties. They strongly disagree with them and are letting them know and are not committing violence against them or anyone else. And as the article accurately states, the schools work for the people, not the other way around.
Mostly peaceful college football fans.
Like when you shoot up a congressional baseball game?
Doj said that was a suicide by cop.
Or put your feet on a desk? Totally insurrection.
That's not terrorism because he was Left winger. Those are the rules.
The DOJ said last week during hearings they don't track Antifa violence. It is insane.
Time for a brief history lesson:
"I would remind you that extremism in the defense of liberty is no vice! And let me remind you also that moderation in the pursuit of justice is no virtue!"
Sullum isn’t for defending liberty, unless it’s liberty for a pet issue.
They are statists who want their preferred outcomes. No liberty involved.
‘When justice is Thwarted, vengeance becomes necessary’
This is the standard lefty response.
Notice that Strudel doesn't want to actually talk about the merits of the article. No, he wants to warn "you" against extremists. The fact that the DOJ is being asked to watch parents very closely because they are pushing back against COVID lunacy and CRT is not to be discussed. No, the important, salient part of this article is that sometimes people STEP OVER THE LINE.
It is so transparent when these lefties know that their side has, you know, ACTUALLY STEPPED OVER THE LINE. Because they don't want to talk about ANY of that shit. Just like with the CA Vaccine Mandates, they wanted to pick fights with trumpers, argue the merits of vaccines, and talk about anything BUT the fact that their side has crossed the line into authoritarianism.
That line seems got move a lot. It seems like it depends on who is doing the stepping
I notice that School Board members and Teacher Union members conspiring to dox, threaten and silence a parent is NOT considered domestic terrorism.
Of course not. Those things advance the establishment of a state party. Opposing the democrat narrative impedes that.
That is literally part of the definition of terrorism. Socialists always monkey with the meanings of words, in order to limit your ability to argue with them, or to make things that we would never except seem more reasonable.
Only when Conservatives flip the script on these libtard scum is it then considered "domestic terror". Weaponizing the law is dangerous and these Dems should be made to pay and pay dearly. I so pray that the conservatives flip the House and Senate so that the libtard agenda can be crushed and utterly stamped out. TRUMP 2024!
"The fact that the DOJ is being asked to watch parents very closely because they are pushing back against COVID lunacy and CRT is not to be discussed. "
ya was going to say there seems to be a pattern of who is "concerning" and needs to be targeted by the govt
- Anyone not repeating the party line on COVID: anti-science, spreaders of misinformation, to be publicly labeled as such and silenced with the help of big tech directly coordinating with govt
- Parents pushing back on CRT: local school boards label them, shame them, have threatened law suits, and now we label them "domestic terrorists"
- Proud boys and antifa show up and LARP against each other in a city... Govt/media: "counter protestors fight back against far-right extremist group, the Proud Boys"
Starting to notice a pattern here...
False equivalence: school board meetings are staging grounds for white supremist domestic terrorism. However, BLM is mostly peaceful.
Especially when they smash, loot, burn, assault and murder. Fortunately they do it peacefully ... mostly.
If the parents would just burn a school down, or throw shit at school board members, there wouldn't be any problems. After all that's how the left stayed peaceful.
School boards can certainly be launching pads into more “serious” political careers. Which is why they’ve decided to allow illegal aliens to vote in their elections in San Francisco, and are considering it in LA.
https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/immigration/san-francisco-allows-undocumented-immigrants-vote-school-elections-n893221
Not sure there were any “white supremists” behind these particular decisions.
One of the left’s favorite tools is a Pravdaesque media. That needs to be taken away form them.
Why bother? Just ignore it. I do.
But tens of millions don’t ignore it. There was a study done several years ago that determined that the left’s stranglehold on the media skews polls 8-9% in the Democrat’s direction. So this must be taken from them.
Their viewership is being overtaken by alternate media. CNN's hurting since Trump left office, and they might even have to cut back on their hookers and blow.
-jcr
The left has been authoritarian for decades. If they crossed that line in the lifetime of any members of "the Squad" they'd have been heading in the direction of actual Liberalism (as opposed to the Newspeak "liberalism" they're currently engaged in)
“Terrorism sounds like a really bad word but it’s literally just employing violence because of politics.”
I’m just glad none of these domestic terrorist groups have significant power in this country.
Can you imagine what it would be like to live in a country where the government engaged in violence for political reasons?
When asked about Antifa, our Attorney General said he didn't know anything about them. If you're a domestic terrorist group, but the chief federal law enforcement officer purposely ignores you, I'd say that leaves you with some pretty "significant power in this country."
You're purposefully misdefining violence in order to excuse repression of political expression. How dispicable, how disgusting of you.
Garland has proudly crossed a line that even the KGB and Stasi were shy about doing publicly. This man needs to be immediately fired.
You are right but it won't happen because his boss is an imbecile.
His boss would need cognitive boosters to qualify as an imbecile.
Forget cognitive boosters, he needs reanimation. The US is imitating Weekend at Bernie's right now.
You are right but it won’t happen because his boss is an Empty Vessel run by the Progs.
FTFY
Jill Biden may not be a genius, but I wouldn't call her an imbecile.
I'm not sure President Cornholio even knows who Garland is anymore.
-jcr
There's an easy way to circumvent this threat. Parents keep up with what your school system is teaching. If they are pushing C.R.T. & the alphabet brigade agenda (LGBTQ), don't say a word. Just quietly circulate the petitions to recall every member of the school board, get it certified, and throw every last one of their butts out of office and elect sound, Christian conservatives in their place. You don't have to say a word. Just blind side them with a recall election and that takes care of that.
CRT is unequivocally wrong, but religion or sexual orientation should not be a test, either officially or informally, for getting good people into public office.
Pick the most competant person for the job and get students back to reading, writing, arithmatic, and science until we can get Education and State completely separate.
He should also be prosecuted.
Like when you tackle a sitting Senator, breaking 5 ribs and nearly killing him over the way he was piling brush near your shared property line?
over the way he was piling brush near your shared property line?
You think that's really the reason? Or was this what he came up with because he knew the real reason would draw more attention and ensure he never lives this down?
If Paul was fucking the guys wife that would actually make him more palatable to Democrats, but I doubt it. It was Boucher's own story and what he was prosecuted for. Paul was blindsided while riding a mower and wearing headphones. It wasn't an argument.
Earlier accounts of the incident suggested bad blood between the neighbors, who have known each other for roughly 17 years, including a dispute over a property line and possible distaste for Paul's politics, as well as those of his father, former Texas Rep. Ron Paul.
However, federal prosecutors on Friday said Boucher admitted the assault but denied it was politically motivated. Boucher's lawyer also denied previously that politics had anything to go with the fight.
The guy originally was sentenced to only 30 days for attacking a Senator which is a fucking travesty. Paul needed 2 surgeries. The Feds appealed the sentence and he served 8 months in min. security and 6 months house arrest. Not much time for an act of terrorism.
How many have already done more time without trial or bail for trespassing?
The parents are guarding their children against extremism.
Odd that months of riots were not terrorism.
Like stalking a legislature and breaking the law filming in bathroom?
... or harassing a Senator on an airline on an issue that is not even on the legislative agenda?
Si te estoy mirando, Soñadoras
The Biden Administration and everyone in it are totalitarians. They are literally and unequivocally trying to destroy anyone who stands in the way of their agenda.
Let's Go Brandon!
In the last six months his administration has proven to be the biggest threat to freedom in the history of the Republic. Reason, of course, never saw it coming.
“I will cast my ballot for Joe Biden in Michigan, a swing state, because there is no bigger libertarian cause right now”
“Who do you plan to vote for this year? Joe Biden. The nationalists said the libertarian-conservative consensus is dead, and I take them at their word. Also, Stephen Miller is a white nationalist.”
“I will vote strategically… for Biden.”
“I will cast my first ever vote for president for Joe Biden in the battleground state of Pennsylvania.”
“I’ve been vacillating between sitting out this election, as I did in 2016, or voting for Joe Biden. The strongest argument for the latter choice is that it’s an opportunity to support the repudiation of both Trumpism and AOC” (lol)
“I’ll be voting for Joe Biden, primarily for three reasons: (1) A feeble president Biden seems like an opportunity to erode the power and glamour of the dangerous cult of the presidency and also push socialists, nationalists, and identitarians back to the margins, creating space for a more libertarian-friendly coalition to emerge.” (Oh wow! lol)
“If it was going to be close in my state, I might have considered holding my nose and voting for the person most likely to supplant the eminently fireable incumbent.”
I seriously never understood what was so bad about Trump? As far as I could tell he was a remarkably status-quo centrist with just a few moments of leaning in the right direction (reducing corporate income tax was one) and some very bad economic ideas (tariffs) that were in the end no worse than most of what I see from any president.
What were Trump's big flaws that made him worse than Hitler? I really don't know.
Are you forgetting the horror of mean tweets?
Basically he was an impediment to the left. An obstruction to the deep state, and a great big meanie on social media. Whereas Biden and his entire administration are treasonous marxists trying to destroy our constitutional republic and enslave the citizenry.
Did you ever really watch a lot of his speeches? I was kind of in the same boat as you in 2016 during the run up to the election. I didn't have a chance to really watch him in person. So my entire view of him was, 1) The people I usually hate quoting him out of context and telling me he was racist, and 2) my analysis of his policies and supreme court picks and thinking he wasn't anywhere near as bad as Clinton. (I still didn't vote for him).
But when I had time to actually watch his speeches, I realized that the people I never trusted to report on him were actually right. His speeches are full of bombastic and hyperbolic pronouncements that, when taken literally, would utterly terrify me if I were on the left.
Ken had this great description: When Trump makes some pronouncement, you need to take him seriously, not literally. He is a negotiator, and the first thing they always do is try to sell you on an outrageous starting point. "I wouldn't pay 5 dollars for that piece of crap!" - He is seriously negotiating with you, but doesn't literally think the thing is a piece of crap. Same thing with Immigration, Tariffs, Foreign policy, and far more: He said all sorts of outrageous shit, that he didn't literally mean, even if he was serious about doing things about it.
*shrug*
There is a lot of truth there.
Trump would say outrageous shit and the 'libertarians' here would respond to his words with outrage.
Meanwhile a bog standard Democrat does outrageous shit employing the power of the Federal government to intimidate political opposition, and the response is muted and not remotely proportional to that they gave the prior administration. Robby could not even bring himself to mention Joe Biden in this article - containing the issue to Garland alone.
The conclusion is obvious. The writers here are, at best poseurs.
so, it was the bombastic rhetoric?
Yeah, rhetoric taken literally.
When Obama says "get up there and punch back harder", we can assume that the Media didn't really take him literally. According to them, Obama didn't really advocate for political violence.
But when Trump says things like "The Press is the enemy of the state!!" They took that literally- like, as POTUS, he was going to round up reporters and throw them in jail for sedition or whatever.
Part of Trump's appeal is that the media was doing this to anyone not Hillary. Had been for years to republicans, really, but the others in the primary were still playing it nice. Playing the press's game.
Trump would call them out. He would ignore their baiting him to stay focused and do it directly, not with wasel words. Trump actually trolled the media, a lot, too, baiting them back. It made people feel like someone was calling them on their BS, while the hardest thing Hillary would have to face from the press was whether or not pistachio farmers would applaud if she chose that rather than Vanilla.
The fact that social media and the manipulation thereof is now prevalent changed things a bit though. Remember the edited video that went around of Trump in Japan dumping the fish food in the koi pond? Watch the whole thing and he mirrors Abe. He had a good visit. But it buried his speech during the same trip in South Korea, where he very movingly expressed the benefits of a liberal democracy to bring wealth and prosperity to a county while North Korea froze in the dark next door. It was a beautiful speech. Zero coverage.
To be fair. Democrats listened when he said to bring a gun to a knife fight.
I agree with that assessment. Salena Zito summed it up pretty good in an article for the Atlantic. She wrote:
“The press takes him literally, but not seriously; his supporters take him seriously, but not literally.”
At some points it seemed like the backlash against trump (who I personally never thought was fit to run for the office due to his temperament and business history) was the primary threat to the republic; MSM willfully promoting propaganda in coordination with the strategy of one political party intended to alter election results, organized violence against ideological opposition as well as those attempting to document that violence, pushing a baseless impeachment against a lame-duck official with less than 10 days remaining in office...
It's as if they forgot that Donny Jingles (as Penn Jilette calls him) was a lifelong Democrat until about 2014.
It’s as if they forgot that Donny Jingles (as Penn Jilette calls him) was a lifelong Democrat until about 2014.
'
What's really hilarious is hearing name-dropped constantly in older hip-hop and rap tunes. Lin-Manuel Miranda had to change one of his lyrics of a song from "In the Heights" for the movie version because the original referred to Trump as an aspirational figure. Christ, Mac Miller named a Billboard hit after him.
Trump was not a libertarian in rhetoric, but was one of the most libertarian Presidents in practice.
I for one want to bring him back, and his mean tweets are a small price to pay.
What were Trump’s big flaws that made him worse than Hitler?
He wasn't a leftist. That is all.
He wasn't in sync with the establishment. He was far too leftist for my taste, but he didn't get along with the other leftists - and that alone may have made him the best President since Coolidge.
"What were Trump’s big flaws that made him worse than Hitler?"
MEAN TWEETS, YOU LITERAL HITLER YOURSELF
The Fascist, worse than Hitler crap is nonsense, BUT he's an unprincipled child. His maturity fluctuates between that of a 2 year old and a frat boy. And the only thought he has even close to a principle is how can he aggrandize himself. Many simply cannot vote for someone like that.
So you prefer a senile idiot?
The Fascist, worse than Hitler crap is nonsense
I remember the lefturds trying to sell the same line of bullshit against Reagan and both Bushes.
-jcr
He beat Hillary. This triggered millions of lefturd meltdowns.
-jcr
It's a good thing the crew here is fighting the good fight. Way to fight for freedom, guys and gals.
Are those statements attributed to Reason writers?
That's depressing.
That this has only warranted one article - and a weak sauce milqetoast one at that - tells you how the writers here really feel.
They are only 'concerned' with abusive government excess when it effects the 'right sorts' (actually left sorts) of people.
This action comes after the Biden administration received a plea from the National School Boards Association (NSBA) to protect schools from the "imminent threat" of parents sending "threatening letters and cyberbullying" school officials. The association considers such activities to be akin to "domestic terrorism."
Why shouldn’t the NSBA decide what “domestic terrorism” is and isn’t? The CDC now decides who needs to pay rent, and in the past HUD was used to sue gun manufacturers. They’re all just pseudopods of the Democratic Party. You know, the party that’s decided they’re not going to loose elections anymore. And are behaving accordingly.
Let’s get rid of them all. The rights of one American are worth more than the collective lives of every progressive.
Absolutely. This is probably going to end badly for everyone.
It’s still avoidable, but democrats are no more capable of stopping than a cancerous tumor is of not consuming it’s host.

Go Be Unto Brandon!
I doubt the FBI is really going to do anything. But that's not the point, is it? The point is telegraphing the threat of FBI involvement so those uppity parents think twice about challenging their betters.
Chilling effect is a thing, and something the Supreme Court takes (or at least, used to take) very seriously when it comes to the First Amendment. Whether or not they actually take any action here is beside the point; the message they are sending is loud and clear - you speak out against us and we can destroy you.
You do? Hmm they have imprisoned folks for trespassing with the wrong viewpoint without bail for about nine months now. What makes you think they won't do anything?
But that was an actual crime falling under their jurisdiction. Much different than a parent at a school board meeting saying things the school board doesn't want to hear.
Unless
"a parent at a school board meeting saying things the school board doesn’t want to hear"= TERRORISM
It's very similar to J6 = INSURRECTION logic.
Never mind that no one is charged with trying to overthrow the government because there is no evidence of it. But they're "dangerous" enough that we'll just hold them in jail forever.
Its all the same gameplan
Two words: Selective enforcement.
Not sure which commie it’s attributed to, the idea is to have everyone, everywhere breaking the law at any given time. Then the state selectively brings them in at will.
"You bring me the man, I'll find you the crime." Lavrentiy Beria, chief of the Soviet secret police
The left will use the full power of government to destroy their opposition. During Obama's administration the left droned on about criminalizing political thought, it will be much worse this time around. This administration may be the spark that ignites the fire, and I think that is exactly what they want. But I don't think it will work out like they plan.
Time to get rid of them.
What a Country!
“Did you really think we want those laws observed?" said Dr. Ferris. "We want them to be broken. You'd better get it straight that it's not a bunch of boy scouts you're up against... We're after power and we mean it... There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced or objectively interpreted – and you create a nation of law-breakers – and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Reardon, that's the game, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with.”

Because the fbi hasn't gone after innocent people due to political reasons in the past?
Because actually arresting a parent for speaking out against the policies of a school board is terrible, optically. The point wasn't to follow through on the threat, the point was the issuance of the threat.
Nobody said they won’t follow through.
Exactly. And parents are going to have to keep pushing back against it for the tyrannical bullshit that it is.
“Want to keep your town? You're gonna have to fight for it.”
I'm saying they won't. It would be political suicide to do so.
You don’t get to vote them out.
Actually, yes I do. The only reason this is being done is because of the elected leaders.
No, because they will have the Media gaslighting the country to say that IN FACT this person that was arrested is actually a domestic terrorist.
They think they can get away with this shit because, until now they pretty much have been. Draconian lockdowns? Check. Shutting down businesses? Check. Jabbing little kids with needles? Check. Nobody is even talking about how the FBI gave a complete pass to the likes of Nasser (US Women's Gymnastics Pedo) or Epstein.
The FBI has been involved in Watergate levels of abusive and incompetent bullshit over the past 6 years and it has gotten almost no play in the media because it harms all the right people.
Actually, it gets play in the media everyday. People, the right has just as much media influence as the left. There's a reason that Repubs have now taken polling leads over Dems. There's a reason that the most vile person to ever sit in the white house almost won a second term.
My god. The exaggerated hysteria is just unbelievable. If what you were claiming were true, we wouldn't even be here talking about it.
The internet has definitely helped break the monopoly on information, but there’s still a lot of moderate independents that don’t take the time to research what’s really going on, and get their news from network news every night. And their vote counts just as much as people that really look into issues.
"There’s a reason that the most vile person to ever sit in the white house almost won a second term."
??? Obama won his second term.... oh, you mean Trump. Enjoying your CNN, huh?
Your exaggerated intelligence is unbelievable. The polling leads are happening because the masks are off, and people are now seeing demonazis for who they are.
Trump was a good president overall. You just hate him.
Not unlike holding people in solitary confinement for 9 months for, at worst, trespassing.
It would look bad if we had an actual journalistic 4th estate. But what we have is propagandists for the left, so the average person will either never hear about it, or will hear a version spun to make them believe the parents involved deserve it.
Because actually arresting a parent for speaking out against the policies of a school board is terrible, optically.
When you’ve convinced yourself that you’re no longer going to loose elections, “optics” takes a backseat to destroying your enemies.
Hoover never actually arrested MLK, he just tried to blackmail him into committing suicide. Arresting MLK was something the pig-ignorant local Democrats did, and it cost them the public support they needed to maintain the status quo.
-jcr
"I doubt the FBI is really going to do anything..."
'Perjury traps' are definitely something. Derp-O-Matic, below, is absolutely right about the effect this is intended to have.
Where are the principled men and women of the FBI who are publicly resigning rather than enabling the things Robby is writing about?
My point is the threat is what is important, not actual enforcement. Because again, locking a parent up for challenging a school board policy is political suicide.
It might be, if that is what the parent is locked up for. But the past has shown us the FBI is not above playing dirty.
"Well, he wasn't arrested for speaking out at a school board meeting. We found kiddie porn on his home computer."
Yeah, it's hardly a coincidence that they raided the home of the head of the NYC police union recently, who's been dragging De Blasio for everything from rising crime to the China Coof Juice injection mandates.
Regarding the perjury trap gambit, if the FBI ever wants to interview you, tell them that you'll only do so with your lawyer present, and a live video feed that's being recorded in at least a dozen other countries.
-jcr
They probably will. It’s pretty bad right now. The only way out is to remove the democrats.
If a school board member or administrator ever threatened to the call the FBI, I would have my attorneys up their ass before they could blink. Then I would probably pay a PI to dig up dirt them, and see what else I could use as leverage.
Leftist school employees and school board members need to be afraid if they overstep.
That the American public hasn't risen up en masse to abolish public schools remains one of the great mysteries of our time. I think that's because they were fed a load of bullshit about Charter Schools, which are public schools and funded by taxpayers. So parents think they have a choice, and even call it "school choice" when in fact it's picking one public school over another more exclusive public school.
Most of them think public school is “free”.
But I think if everyone else left, leaving just the "school is free" crowd, that itself would be a major achievement. Public school would still exist, but would just be for the children with stupid parents. Randi Weingarten would be like "We can't reopen our schools for children with stupid parents until all the teachers are vaccinated, and we refuse to for teachers of children with stupid parents to be vaccinated because that wouldn't be stupid and we would have to get jerbs in the private sector schools!"
Do you have kids? Parents are paying a significant portion of their disposable income on income, sales, and property taxes. And out of principle they are going to pony up more en masse to opt out?
In Pasadena CA, the private schools were so competitive that they actually taught a student for less than the public school system. But to put 3 kids through private school we were still looking at around $40k a year ON TOP of one of the highest tax rates in the nation.
This is why parents don't just opt out. It is enormously expensive to do out of principle, when it is much easier to just move to a better district where it costs you maybe $10,000 a year extra in housing costs (which you will recoup after selling the house later).
Tuition tax credits (my preference) or tuition vouchers.
When private schools exist for the poorest of the poor in New Delhi, India, there's no excuse to Americans to say "Oh but we can't afford it so government has to be in charge".
"Oh but we can't afford it" is why we're going to get single payer health care in the next five years. It's a cop-out excuse. The reason schooling (and healthcare) is so expensive is because of government involvement. And step one of getting rid of government involvement in government owned schools is to make them not be government owned.
Yes totally agree with you 100%
This 100%.
The amount of people who don’t understand why certain sectors of the economy are so overpriced is astounding to me.
Both my parents were public school teachers. My grandmother was a public school teacher. I have been thoroughly indoctrinated in the public school culture. And I say it's got to go.
Saying it can't be done is a self-fulfillling prophecy. "School choice" is just a bait and switch to send your kid off to an exclusive government school instead of commoner government school. School choice should mean, "fuck government schools, I'm taking my child elsewhere!"
No it's not easy. Nothing worthwhile ever is.
I generally agree with you. However I think Charter Schools operate differently depending on where you are. I have a friend who helped start a charter school in Atlanta. It is not anything like a public school. They have their own curriculum, and governance. They constantly fight their district for control over how things will go. If tomorrow GA created a full "Voucher" or "Backpack Funding" program, they would easily transition to being a private school.
Meanwhile here in California, many of the Charter Schools are actually run under the auspices of the local teachers union. So I get how often Charter Schools are not a panacea.
"it is much easier to just move to a better district"
And what happens when the better district also adopts this crap?
But until they do you'll support this type of behavior.
Because once the government takes control of something, there is never a means to go back without the total crumbling of the institution or society at large.
That's just human nature.
You may be correct. Our only hope is full on Trumpism to hasten the collapse of all society.
p.s. Only half joking, as I've run across that corner of "evangelicalism" that wants to hasten the Second Coming of Christ. They don't want peace in the Middle East, praise every disaster as one step closer to the end, etc.
It ain't Trumpism that will do it. It is progressivism that will do it. The arc of history of this country is one that constantly moves left. Ideologies like conservativism, Trumpism, libertarianism can only slow down the inevitable leftward progressive march. However, there is no stopping it. Only until progressivism crumbles from its own weight will you see a possibility for a change back.
It's the size of government, not the flavor of government. Bush gave us a MUCH bigger government than Clinton. Trump gave us a bigger government than Obama did. When the next Republican president shows up, he'll expand government as well.
Progressives may worship government, but "conservatives" worship strong men in charge of government. From the outside I don't see much practical difference.
The 3 largest segments of governments pending are Liberal programs. When Bush expanded government, most of the protesting from the left was it didn't go far enough.
Surely you see how that is the sad negotiation we are in. Left: Give us 5 Gazillion. Right: No you only get 1 Gazillion.
It is noteworthy that Bush gave us Medicare Drug Benefits but completely bailed on his promise for Social Security reform (which was a key part of his reelection campaign). Whether you believe they intend well or whatever, the fact remains that the right is still unwilling or unable to restrain the growth of our government.
This is kind of sad "both sidesism."
Progressivism is the increase in government influence over life. Just because a Republican does it, doesn't mean it's not a progressive action.
Your problem is you equate people's actions based on party affiliation as indicative if something is progressive or conservative. That's not it at all. Progressive and conservative actions are wholly independent of who does it.
Conservative principles are to hold back change (for better or worse). Progressive principles are to push for constant change (for better or worse). This will always end up with a bigger government until it collapses. This is a progressive arc, whether or not it is Republicans or Democrats who push it.
In the end, the arc is always to the left.
Bush was a progressive. That’s what compassionate conservatism is all about.
As were t roos and nixon.
Getting rid of democrats and their RINO lackeys is the key to restoring our constitutional republic. Everything else is like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic after hitting the iceberg. We’re past dealing with them.
It takes two to tango. Yin and yang. There is no conflict without resistance.
Goddamn, take some fucking responsibility for once in your evil life. My hands are clean, yours steeped in an ocean of blood.
There is no comparison. You should be begging our forgiveness.
I’ve run across that corner of “evangelicalism” that wants to hasten the Second Coming of Christ."
I smell horseshit. For the fundamentalist-type evangelical, trying to influence or affect God's "perfect plan" by yourself is akin to blasphemy.
I'm guessing you read some sort of culture-war smear job article in Salon, and turned it into a personal anecdote.
> influence or affect God’s “perfect plan” by yourself is akin to blasphemy.
I never said it wasn't. A large segment of evangelicalism has abandoned the Bible in favor of pulpit thumping preachers and political tribesmanship. A small corner of that has abandoned the Bible in favor of an evil theologies. One of which wants to literally immanentize the eschaton. The worst of those theologies, however, is the one that says "Where more than one gather together, Christians can do any wrong." That was the big deal about Trump, when James Dobson declared him saved, suddenly Trump could do no wrong. That's not theology, that's tribalism.
Maybe ease up on the conspiracy theory websites.
It’s not conspiracy theories. I was raised in born-again Christiandom. The working for doom aspect of evangelical Christiandom has been there since Hal Lindsay wrote, “The Late Great Planet Earth”.
More nonsense. Hal Lindsay's book was Paul R. Ehrlich-style doom mongering for trendy evangelicals.
He wasn't even remotely trying to immanentize the eschaton.
I'm guessing you read the same Salon article Brandybuck did.
They really engage in low brow thinking. Probably the only way they rationalize their evil choices. Typical of their kind.
when James Dobson declared him saved
James Dobson isn't the Evangelical pope, anymore than Bill Maher is the atheist one.
Anyway all Trump had to do is "that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." - Romans 10:9
Incidentally that also works for Episcopalians, Catholics, Copts, Russian Orthodox, Syriacs and Lutherans.
There isn't an exam you have to pass.
Well, there's plenty of lefty environmentalists who would be pleased to have 95% of the world's population drop dead, leaving 500k or so people, obviously including themselves, to live an enlightened life on a green planet.
It’s one small brick in the wall, but during the lockdowns I’ve seen my niece in Seattle going from a public school supporting liberal to a school board cursing independent.
When you say ‘funded by taxpayers, you mean that the state is giving back the money they take from us for the government schools.
Charter schools are still taxpayer-funded, but they do offer competition and usually a better service. What Friedman advocated with the vouchers is essentially what Germany has. Funding follows the student, and they're not simply assigned to schools geographically. If any school in Germany let an illiterate graduate, it would be out of business overnight as parents took their kids elsewhere.
The slogan is "school choice", but the more important thing is school competition. Monopolies get lazy.
-jcr
Any chance they'll be treating BLM activists agitating for "anti-racism" teachings to be included in the school curriculum as domestic terrorists, since they are explicitly calling for the abolition of American values, or is it just the anti-anti-racism people they'll be targeting? Because that kinda seems like that would be viewpoint discrimination, which hasn't yet been declared legal by the Supreme Court.
LOL, yeah, that'll totally happen.
"The Biden Administration and everyone in it are totalitarians."
Ever more obvious by the day.
And another weak sauce article from a Reason writer.
Pathetic.
Not just petty tyrants like Calles or Franco either, but full blown Soviet Union type stuff.
"Let's Go Brandon" is the most Pravda-esque thing I've seen in a long time. It was surreal.
And there were blue check progs on Twitter APPLAUDING her for that gaslighting.
Then again, there are progs who are proud that they convinced people that Trump's tax cuts did not help them at all. They OPENLY brag that they did that.
And people supported this guy for the Supreme Court? This is the single most frightening abuse of the PATRIOT ACT in its long awful life.
This is the single most frightening abuse of the PATRIOT ACT in its long awful life.
It's really more the latest incident in a long series of awfulness.
+1
The shenanigans the Rs pulled to keep this guy off the court are an unsung act of heroism.
It was hardly shenanigans. It was them doing something entirely within the Constitution and the existing rules of the Senate for them to do.
One of the very first uses of the PATRIOT act was against a girl who called in a fake bomb to a cruise ship because she wanted the boat to turn around so she could see her boyfriend.
It was always intended to be used against non-terrorists.
This should be remembered by everyone on this board who leans to the Right, because it is where they may have a blind spot:
The PATRIOT Act was largely written by Joe Biden himself. Ashcroft went to congressional veterans and gathered up a hit list of regulations that had been written in the wake of the Oklahoma Bombing. The Gingrich congress declined to pass these regulations that had been DESIGNED to target domestic terrorists- not foreign terrorists.
And surprise, 20 years later, the Patriot Act is being used to target domestic "terrorists" including parents and Trump.
Mormons love the Patriot act.
Well, yeah, Evan McMullin is an ex-CIA agent.
They’re big govt social conservatives. They have no problem violating the rights of sinners.
Eggs McMuffin isn’t a conservative. He’s really kre of an ally to you. So he needs to go too.
How’s Spokane traitor?
Not bad. We could do with less democrats in the state government. Taps things we would be much better if people like Inslee and Ferguson were executed for their crimes.
And it appears I need to explain to you once again that as a conservatarian I am incapable of treason. As a leftist democrat, you are a traitor to you very core.
Exercising one's first-amendment rights is terrorism. Speech is violence. WTF?
MOFA.
Contrast investigating people for making heated arguments against progressive policy in public meetings whose purpose is to discuss policy, with the excuses made for progressive activists breaking the law harassing a legislator in the bathroom.
And have we forgotten CHAZ/CHOP and the allowances for those who had the "right cause" last year. Versus the solitary without bail treatment for J6 tresspassers
Politicians like McAuliffe and Garland think the public school system exists to serve the needs of the Democratic Party, the Democratic Party exists to serve the needs of the Teacher Unions which generally control the school boards. They love democracy as long as the demos does what it is told by the technocrat class.
Good article, Robby. We need lots more like this.
^
I've come to welcome, rather than be outraged, by this type of thing; we need more examples of egregious government overreach and intimidation to motivate enough people to finally decide it's worth their time to push back.
I must say, I'm pleasantly surprised to see something on Reason about this.
Welcome to Reason. Where stories about eebil government official abusing your rights and taking your money happen every day.
Only when they relate to immigration, drugs, and sex work.
+1
Except that it's hardly ever about all the massive attack against liberty and speech that are going on right now, and 99% about some idiot trigger-happy street cop or a low-level (R) congressman saying something stupid on Twitter.
Robby is pretty much the only one tackling the scary stuff.
Welsh has been pretty good. Gillespe reliable. Soave is periodically good as above. ENB is pretty clear that she will only criticize certain things. The new girl, Wolfe is pretty great. Sullum and Suderman have been universally disappointing. Bailey had a real bad bout of TDS, but seems to be getting back on the wagon one article at a time- but just isn't quite there yet.
Yeah, Bailey used to be solid.
Is Boehm still around? He's awful
I'm not sure Wolfe is pretty great. She doesn't like people who resist vaccine passports.
That's basically all Koch whores. They're a worthless lot
Where is this? I've only read her articles here, and didn't see any pro-vaccine passport nonsense.
Rico's been much better the the past year. We appear to have shamed the "to be sures" out of him.
And he's maturing and finding his voice. He's pretty young and that's to be expected. I think he's doing a good job overall. I'd like to see him get a little deeper into all the woke/CRT ideology because he's still pretty superficial on how awful that stuff is. But he seems to pul lhis punches a lot less and has dropped a lot of the "to be sure". There's hope fo rthe kid yet.
Maybe a stark look at Salon/Slate/Buzzfeed writers vs. the folks on Substack, YouTube, and other alt-media triggered an honest assessment of the value of *not* being a tool of the corporate propaganda machine?
How dare you.
"'Terry McAuliffe, a Democrat, recently lashed out at anti-CRT efforts, asserting that "I don't think parents should be telling schools what they should teach."
He must have forgotten that the public school system is supposed to serve the needs of families, and not the other way around."
Forgotten? No. He never believed it.
“I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”
Actually he is correct about that. Curriculum is set by the school and not the parents.
Creationism, for example, should not be taught unless it is mentioned in a world mythology context and labeled such.
And the debate here is another falsehood CRT should also not be taught.
Curriculum is set by school administrators and approved by school boards who are elected. Schools are 100% accountable to voters.
The Establishment Clause overrules voter will.
Creationism is pure religious pablum and should be labeled "False" or "Myth".
And CRT is pure racist pablum.
I oppose CRT.
A student gets enough race context in a US history class.
Don't we have a Civil Rights Act that prevents discrimination based on race?
That's fine but that's not what you said. Voters are constrained by the Constitution. That doesn't mean they don't supersede administrators when it comes to curriculum authority.
Administrators get the final say.
At least until their term ends.
They may be empowered to make the decision, but what is being postulated is that the parents should have no input that opposes the administrators.
The commie likes a strongman to tell everyone what to do.
No one is talking about creationism, retard.
"You can't teach your religion, but my religion gets FBI protection"
Except it works that way in exactly 0% of school districts.
The elections are not promoted and the candidates with the resources to actually win the positions are provided by the Teachers' Union.
As I expect you are well aware you piece of shit.
And racist theories should be taught?
According to WaPo comment section, CRT is actually 'history' which is odd because history of slavery etc. is and has been taught in schools. They have a point though, CRT seems to want to apply historical racial attitudes to modern times. Reminds me of the Nazi quasi-scientitix racial categories. Class I, Nordic, Class II Phalian, both good classes, Class III mixed European with some of Class I and II, might be in trouble in this category. Class IV you're in deep doo doo.
It's also pretty hilarious given the fact that there is and has been so much mixing in this country. I'm categorized as "white" by society, but can trace ancestry to a slave as late as the 1850s. Not a huge part of my blood, but kinda funny.
Curriculum is set by the school and not the parents.
No, you moron, curriculums are generally set by the state, and then formed in to lesson plans by teachers that have to show how the plans meet those curriculums. It's the school boards that add on the cultural Marxist dross, if the teachers aren't already doing for them like the commies in California that have recently been in the news.
And yes, including the input of parents should be part of the process--they're the ones paying the bills, after all. The NSBA is doing what every leftist-run institution does when it's resisted by the right with any vigor. They shriek about "divisiveness" and in this this case, they're running to their Chief Commissar to try and shut these parents up.
What in the world does this have to do with who sets the curriculum--unless it means that curriculum is to be set, not by the parents, not by the schools, but by wise judges hovering over the educational system to make sure that no one transgresses current Establishment Clause jurisprudence?
In practice parents don't get too involved in the curriculum. This CRT deal is the current exception.
When I was a teen a local group of parents wanted Slaughterhouse Five banned. That hit home for me since it is one of the great American accomplishments.
When I was a teen a local group of parents wanted Slaughterhouse Five banned. That hit home for me since it is one of the great American accomplishments.
If you're going to make some bullshit claim, hicklib, the least you can do is not parrot a scene from "Footloose."
One of the best-known attempts to ban Slaughterhouse-Five happened in 1982, when Island Trees Union Free Public School District removed a selection of books, including Slaughterhouse-Five, from junior high and high school libraries for being “anti-American, anti-Christian, anti-Semitic, and just plain filthy.” The appeals made it to the Supreme Court, where it was upheld that the school could not remove the book from libraries under the First Amendment.
https://bannedbooks.library.cmu.edu/kurt-vonnegut-slaughterhouse-five/
So now you're lying about going to the Island Trees Union public schools, too, hicklib?
At least we get to tell him to go take a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut in a topical manner.
Fuck yourself mormon
For fuck's sake, you are not even trying any more. Do I have to send missionaries to your house to get more than 3 words out of you? One of the magical symbols on the underwear represents the compass so that 'we may always know in what direction our enemies lie'. I only need 3 people to triangulate on you.
Also, I would really appreciate it if in the future you would insult the full name of the Church, for example: "Fuck yourself member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints". It is not Mormon's church, after all.
That’s why I call them Mormon, because many of them don’t like it.
Yes I’m aware of the pagan symbols on your garments. Just another reason your beliefs are goddamn stupid.
Hopefully one day you’ll realize I’m in the right on this, but I doubt it. You MORMONS are too stupid and arrogant.
You MORMONS are too stupid and arrogant.
From the guy who thinks my underwear is embroidered with pagan symbols?
The real reason for your professed hatred? You can't stand not being in on the joke.
L8r, h8r!
It’s cute when the Mormon thinks it’s clever.
It's insidious when the Moron gaslights what is objectively a clever response. That takes some lower-level-of-hell-type evil to perpetuate.
News flash. I am not a 13 year-old girl. My self-esteem is not the slightest bit dependent on your approval. Perhaps trolling a middle school would be more your speed.
How arrogant to think your response was funny or clever.
KAR, why are you white knighting for Buttplug? He’s a self confessed pedophile. Do you see some kind of kinship with him?
Shrike was a teen in '82. Does that mean he's a boomer?
Gen-X.
Just barely then. I'm a Gen-Xer and I was hot out of the oven in '82.
I thought gen x was 65 to 81?
Could it be that you are a millennial? (No offense).
He”s an incel
Late '81 birthday, E G-V.
Shrike, do you even know what incel means? You prog-posters are just imitating the frog-posters use of "cuck", aren't you?
Yes. You’re a virgin because no woman would have anything to do with a far right loser like you.
I understand that's what the Supreme Court said, but who then does the Court think *can* remove books from school libraries, if not the schools themselves?
Correction: it's not what the Court itself said, but what a plurality of the Court said. There was no Opinion of the Court in that case.
Do you realize your second paragraph completely disproves your first?
Yeah, I felt much the same when our redneck, unenlightened hick town parents tried to ban "Justine" (Olympia Press edition, Alan Hull Walton translation)!
Well, I got up in front of them rubes and read the scene where Justine's mentor is lying on a pile of children's corpses, looking for one with a still beating heart for the purpose of removing it while the autonomic response kept it still beating, and inserting it into her vagina, thus achieving orgasm.
By the time I was done, they were crying, and cheered when I slammed the book shut in triumph. Soon enough, all of de Sade's ouvre was readily available, and art classes prompting the children to illustrate them were wildly popular.
Many of the animal-themed children's books lent themselves readily to illustrated treatments of bestiality, and "The Story of O" had a year-long waiting line.
Those kids got culturally enriched af! Or were you making some other point?
"Actually he is correct about that. Curriculum is set by the school and not the parents."
I think you are missing the point. There was a time when the community DID have some input on curriculum. There was a time, not that long ago, when the parents actually DID have input on curriculum. There was a time when teachers DID have input on curriculum. Hell, there as a time when the curriculum was set by the schools. More and more, curriculum is set at the State or Federal level, since they control more and more of the funding.
The public schools DO, finally, exist to serve the needs of the community. Just as the federal government exists to serve the People.
Input is fine.
I'm recalling all the controversies where I sided with teachers over parents.
"all the controversies" meaning, one.
No he also favors it when teachers rape students
He refers to it as, “Making love to the students.”
"I’m recalling all the controversies where I sided with teachers over parents."
Yeah those were times where you were, you know, not actually being a libertarian.
Parents have responsibility over their kids. Not the fucking state. If the state takes a part in educating those kids, or otherwise providing them services, it is under the PARENTS supervision and consent, not yours. The Teachers and the Schools work for the parents, not the other way around. And to the extent that you want to stick your nose into the business of how Parents get their kids educated, you are not a libertarian.
The logic that lets you insist that you have a say in how Parents will structure their kids' education is basically the same logic that Bloomberg or some kook on the right uses to interfere with how you spend your welfare money or social security check. It has no libertarian root, and should be rejected out of hand. But since you really aren't a libertarian, you are blind to this fact.
This was all done away with when Carter created the Department of Education or more truthfully called the Department of Miseducation and Indoctrination.
It appears that so many schools being run by progressive slime, instead of teaching STEM courses, proper english, writing skills and learning to spell, instead now focus on bogun issues such as LGBTQ or whatever the latest in radical transgender politics along with teaching white children to hate themselves for being born to the wrong parent.
Somehow the local community has a problem with it. I wonder why?
Public schools should be sued for malpractice.
"Actually he is correct about that. Curriculum is set by the school and not the parents."
For the benefit of the thread, everyone please remember this quote when SPB claims to be a libertarian in the future.
There is no constitutional power granted to "schools" to decide how our children will be taught. The entire history of US schools was private institutions funded in the city, or parents in a town gathering together to bring in a teacher you educate their kids during the winter, when they were not needed on the farm.
Schools are a service to parents, which is why parents have a PTA, and school boards were created as elected councils responsible for setting the curriculum. This is the way it should be. But year after year of increasing the Government's role in schooling has created this zero sum game. Why should I care that the School Board in bum fuck Kansas is teaching Intelligent Design to their kids? Oh, because they are taking my tax dollars and funneling it to Kansas? Well let's stop that and let Kansas do what the fuck they want.
But I guarantee you that SPB and other "left libertarians"- even if they agree with it in principle- will throw up every argument in the world against actually achieving a world where the federal government is out of public education, let alone state governments.
My Constitutional argument relies on the Establishment Clause applied to the states via Incorporation.
The USA is a secular country and public schools cannot push Xtianity or Islam (the two most vile religions) - or any other religion.
Tell me, SPB, where in the establishment clause does it say that Schools establish Curriculum, but not Parents.
Please. Educate me.
Let's just try an experiment. Let's say a kooky teacher tried forcing kids to pray in school and the parents objected. According to your...er...logic...The establishment clause says, "Sorry parents, the teacher gets to set the curriculum."
Or is it perhaps that you were mistaken in what the Constitution actually says?
The Constitution says certain things can't be taught/forced - not the entire curriculum.
Conservatives want to establish a state religion and always have wanted to.
So you were wrong when you said, "Curriculum is set by the school and not the parents."
That has nothing to do with separation between church and state.
Maybe you can use this as an instructive opportunity to see how your blind partisanship leads you to say some patently absurd stuff on this site. See, you identify these parents as conservative, and so you just immediately think they shouldn't be allowed to have a say in their kids education.
This story had nothing to do with creationism in school, but because you view your entire world through the prism of Blue vs Red, you are incapable of seeing that.
Where in the constitution does it say the feds can dictate education?
The Constitution says certain things can't be taught
You're an idiot. Go read the first amendment and quit embarrassing yourself.
-jcr
That doesn’t mean they can’t reach about them.
And they still teach religion, they’ve just shifted the focus to worshiping Gaia and Uncle Sam.
I don't believe in creationism but if parents want that taught to their kids, then they should have that option. If the parents are taxpayers, then they are paying for it and should, therefore, get a say.
Of course, in an ideal world, public education would be entirely done away with. I would be happier in a world were people took responsibility for their own procreative choices and paid for their children's educations themselves.
You've got my vote.
I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach
Nothing says Aristocracy more than disparaging the peasants' complaints while writing the king for reinforcements to put those filthy peasants back in their place.
All of this sturm and drang goes away if you just eliminate public schools altogether.
But then government apparatchiks would have a harder time brainwashing the next generation.
McAuliffe is the typical liberal/progressive politician, only one step away from communist.
McAuliffe is the typical Clinton bagman soliciting donations from, in this case, the teachers union.
Guess they got badgered into doing this story. Next up Stossel.
Old news.
They got permission from above.
Slow news day, nothing happening at the Campbell county library right now.
A firm linked to Va Gov candidate Terry McAwful is also suing parents for releasing FOIA documents regarding special needs children. So democrats suck all around.
There was also that story of the parent who was charged thousands of dollars for requesting public documents of the school board.
Another parent in RI was told to submit FOIA requests, and then the school district sued her for submitting too many requests. Then the school board announced at an open meeting that they were suing her.
Oh, and don't forget the recent one about the school board members getting a woman suspended from her job for posting a critical comment on Facebook about the local school board.
Speaking during your allotted four minutes at a meeting; terrorism.
Burning down businesses and killing in the streets; free speech.
Got it.
All depends on whose side you're own, and who gets to decide what is free expression vs terrorism.
And we are getting that in full measure now.
Mostly peaceful....
but fiery
"He must have forgotten that the public school system is supposed to serve the needs of families, and not the other way around."
Bingo. Too many think their viewpoint has some higher authority and therefore must be adhered too by the force of law. Thats not how this works.
For example, let's say eugenics was the new craze and folks were protesting this being included in school curriculum. I imagine we'd have lawsuits by this DOJ/FBI against the school districts.
Best that the DOJ/FBI stay out of it. They won't
Never too early to remind everyone that plenty of the writers here voted for all this rampant and abusive statism.
Were they naive or are they dishonest?
The true statists are dishonest of course. The naive just think they are so right that it's Ok to use force. Similar to it was Ok to break laws if it hurt Trump. Still is Ok
That's not naive, that's sociopathic.
But Trump was the real totalitarian! Trump was totally planning to do even worse than this! We dodged a bullet when we elected Biden!
There were two bullets, we dodged one.
In a just world the voters would have stood up and shouted, "Fuck Joe Biden, fuck Donald Trump, we aren't voting for anyone, we are now an anarcho-syndicalist commune!" And then all the anarcho-capitalists who voted for Trump would grumble and move to Montana to start a compound.
Trump wasn't even remotely a bullet, at the absolute worst he was a clump of dirt.
Biden wasn't a bullet either, he was a hand grenade.
Trump was more of a lawn dart- potential for serious injury if used carelessly and without appropriate safeguards, but generally harmless.
He was absolutely NOTHING compared to Biden.
Were they naive or are they dishonest?
Dishonest. Robbie lays it out in his story. Rufo calls *something* nebulous and hard to define as critical race theory (in quotes), but X and DiAngelo's assertion that institutions are racist to the core is presented as legitimate conjecture and is even an important part of corporate training.
"Rufo calls *something* nebulous and hard to define as critical race theory (in quotes), but X and DiAngelo’s assertion that institutions are racist to the core is presented as legitimate conjecture and is even an important part of corporate training."
The really funny part is that sort of bias is the writers displaying that they are exactly what they think the problem is.
And no, doing it for career reasons as opposed to any other sort of internal justification does not matter one whit.
The Patron Stain of Journalists is Karl Marx.
Gotta keep the FBI too busy to follow up on their agents lying about the Nasser case
I think they still have some J6 grandmas at large to hunt down.
"The Department is steadfast in its commitment to protect all people in the United States from violence, threats of violence, and other forms of intimidation arid harassment."
So the FBI will be all over those people harassing and trying to intimidate Sen. Sinema, right?
Some people are more equal.
Very Orwellian
So the whole "men in the women's restroom" thing was just a distraction from "women in the women's restroom"?
Remember the mob that attack Rand Paul? If it had not been for on the spot uniformed cops that could have gotten really ugly.
a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute who works to expose what he has termed "critical race theory."
Sweet fucking Christ Robbie. To be fucking sure you spineless clump of cells.
Not sure what you think Robbie should have written. Rufo is on record as having an expanded definition of "Critical Race Theory". Robbie is trying to be more accurate. K-12 doesn't teach CRT. However, K-12 "diversity" initiatives are strongly influenced by the principals of CRT.
Rufo is on record as having an expanded definition of “Critical Race Theory”.
Wrong. Rufe is on record referring to the execution of CRT as CRT whereas people trying to hide pretend CRT is only the academic framework and it's execution is That Which May Not Be Named.
I am surprised this was allowed on Reason. Wonder if they will even write one article about the J6 political prisoners? Too edgy maybe
What political prisoners? We don't keep political prisoners. There are no political prisoners and you be careful spreading that Disinformation around, ya hear?
Parents "threaten" school boards, national crisis.
Federal government threatens parents, national unity.
Just shut it down. Shut it all down. Public schools are one of the most disastrous and harmful endeavors of american government.
They should be sued for malpractice.
Like I pointed out on this months ago when the Louden County school board was caught coordinating with radical left-wingers to dox and harm parents who were pushing back against the cultural Marxist doctrine being promoted in schools, the main reason the left is so agitated about this is because it's WHAT THEY ALWAYS DO whenever their agenda is resisted by the right.
School boards are one of those government institutions that seem rather innocuous. Thus, conservatives and libertarians typically don't get involved in them unless it's in small-town areas where neurotic Democrat slime are few and far between, whether it be as board members (or PTA members), or just normal attendance. The pandemic ended up exposing just how deep the leftist rot has sunk in to the schools when parents started seeing the lesson plans via remote learning, and the left, being in the socially stunted bubble that they are, figured that everyone agreed with their dogma, and ended up being shocked that about half the community disagreed with them.
This goes back to what I keep saying that, if you really want to start pushing back against this shit, you NEED to get involved in these local government community organizations--school boards, PTA, city council, planning commissions--and subvert the ideological status quo that's currently in place. These people count on your apathy and general distrust of government to keep their monopoly in place, which is why the NSBA is begging Garland to charge you as a domestic terrorist if you dare speak up against the leftist agenda.
"...WHAT THEY ALWAYS DO whenever their agenda is resisted by the right."
It's what they do when their agenda is resisted period. That they often characterize that resistance as "on the right" is done specifically to keep people like Robby in line.
Yup. Even though the Left dominates in this field, it is only because they are so brazen. The wife and I have been pushing back a lot in our schools and it is shocking how many teachers and administrators are just looking for some air cover from the PTA, Board of Directors, and other organizations. They don't like this steady encroachment but they know they will be marginalized if they fight the battle alone.
Why do you think the Louden County school board members were working with progressive activists behind a locked social media account to dox parents and community residents in order to threaten them and their livelihoods?
People who aren't actually doing anything wrong don't need to do shit like that. They don't have to passive-aggressively try and keep public records of their activities out of the hands of the public. They certainly don't have to sic a federal agency on those parents.
Every parent who is opposed to this shit needs to take a copy of that NSBA letter to their school board and ask if they are on board with calling community members "domestic terrorists." This is nothing more than a naked attempt to associate the January 6th crowd with people pushing back against these policies, and to explicitly threaten them with imprisonment. It's the equivalent of a tattletale fuckhead at school going up to the school principal and whining that Timmy said something mean to you in order to get him in trouble.
It's spelled "Loudoun." I know that's not how its pronounced, but this is Virginia, where "Buena Vista" is pronounced "BYEW-nuh viss-tuh" and "Staunton" is pronounced "STAN-tun." (Also, "Norfolk" is properly pronounced "NAH-fuk," but Norfolk Southern Railway has done its best, in its radio and TV ads, to obscure that fact.)
The letter that that the school board association mentioned 20 incidents nationally--and then said that local police weren't responding. I strongly suspect the reason local police weren't responding because the incidents were unworthy of a police response. This FBI response is intended to have a chilling effect. This is straight up gestapo shit.
They want to gestap dissenting speech.
I did notsee that coming.
More like stasi (you know, because these "people" are commies), but that's just a slightly different flavor of ice cream.
"This is straight up gestapo shit."
True. But do not expect Robby to ever speak so intemperately about the Democrats.
Bad for business.
I used to have no opinion on the fuss over the Republicans blocking this guy from the Supreme Court. Now I do: thank you, Republicans.
National School Boards Association's CEO Anna Maria Chávez probably makes in excess of $402,362 a year for 35 hours of intense, intense work a week (at least that is what the last CEO Thomas Gentzel made). probably average salary for the families that are protesting the racist indoctrination by the government is $50,000 at best.
Both the Biden administration and the progressives are waaaaaaay overplaying their hands.
They have no backing for this. If the local police won't respond to people hating on CRT, they'll bring in the secret police?
Or use F-15s.
Nuke 'em from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."
https://www.conservapedia.com/Project_X
By this logic, the rioters and arsonists who tried to burn down the Mark O. Hatfield courthouse in Portland were terrorists.
What was all the fuss about throwing terrorists into unmarked vans?
Too bad Reason writers only cared about mean tweets for 4 years.
Well, what do you expect? That sort of behavior was simply intolerable. Intimidating political opposition with armed law enforcement is not great, but soft pedaling it won't cost the writers any social credit.
And now we are FREE to be oppressed by nice tweets!
You know what is really shocking? That conservatives have not yet mustered a New Tea Party - twice as large and twice as effective as the 2009 version - in the face of CRT, huge deficit spending, Chicom Virus mandates, $600 bank transaction reporting, and other daily authoritarian nonsense being proposed from Democrats and their media lickspittle.
>>have not yet mustered a New Tea Party
authors of the Paranoia Manual would say the plan to ensure no new Tea Partys is working in spades.
The libertarians were the ones who mustered the Tea Party, the establishment just stole it.
The Atty General has directed the FBI to "investigate" those using their Constitutionally Protected right to Free Speech?
Welcome back to the 1950's. J.Edgar Hoover is laughing from his perch in Hell.
Garland is a disgrace to America and the Constitution. This is clearly going to get challenged in court and the outcome won't please the leftists at all.
The First Amendment is under attack everywhere and it has to stop or everyone is going to lose. America is fast losing whatever credibility it once had and is fast sinking into just another failed state with another little dictator.
I hope that people like Rand Paul, Thomas Massie and others in congress take note and begin proceeding to have Garland removed. He needs to go.
Defund the FBI and the DHS for starters. Then go from there.
Unless this is halted, sooner or later there is going to be civil insurrection. The main enemy will be Washington, D.C.
Just an "oh, by the way" - if the feds weren't involved in "local" education decisions, this wouldn't ever come up.
#defunddeptofeducation
the fuck is the matter with the people who keep electing Terry McAuliffe?
Nothing is going to happen because it would be glaringly unconstitutional. Just more blather from the the mindless children.
as if a lack of constitutionality stopped them before.
"Glaringly unconstitutional", like shutting down churches in clear violation of the first clause of the First Amendment? Yeah, the courts never stopped that either
If a "health emergency" trumps the Constitution, why not a "domestic terrorism emergency"?
Families are fed up with a public education system that puts the needs of students last, and they are speaking up about it...But even if it were not, parents should still enjoy the right to speak up at school board meanings and demand a say in their children's education.
What a bunch of whiners. Whining uselessly is the most pathetic expression of a right. And yet - the reason that is the only 'right' that parents see is because generally they are too lazy to actually get involved in improving the education of their own kids beyond whining about what someone else should be doing in loco parentis.
In most parts of the country, their grandparents were the first generation that failed to take that responsibility on their own shoulders. Before that - schools were individually managed and school boards were dominated by part-time volunteer parents so schools didn't need to take on in loco and whatever was in loco was only one step removed via a principal.
But of course parents taking on that responsibility means taking on work. Used to be that everyone who was anyone earned respect by taking their turn on school board for awhile. But not anymore. Increasingly useless whining is all that's left. Next step - pissing into the wind.
Next step – pissing into the wind.
Like you just did.
JFart's stupid take on parents finally getting involved is that...they weren't getting involved before, and calls it whining when they do.
'Getting involved' is exactly a mealymouthed way of avoiding actual responsibility in favor of whining about someone else.
Yes, Jfart, we know that parents saying mean things to school board officials upsets you.
Go crawl back under your bed, you spineless jellyfish.
The only improvement that can be made to government education is to fire all the employees, refund everyone's tax dollars, knock down the buildings, and salt the ground that they stood on. And that's the moderate position
So I presume you applaud those parents who homeschool their children?
When people can't convince others through discussion is when they send government guns to defend their defenseless acts. The school boards don't want discussion they want obedience.
You can burn, loot and murder all over the country, shutting entire cities down. But that's not terrorism. Dare to speak up at a school board meeting and that's terrorism.
It all depends on your political leanings.
I suppose if it's not cool to bring in the authorities they should go with the "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" tactic. Let's have every democratic meeting dissolve into fits of yelling, grandstanding, and bickering. Who says we are not exceptional. Who I say!
"Pushing back against our agenda is 'yelling, grandstanding, and bickering."
Hey bitch, if you weren't worried about it, your side wouldn't be siccing the FBI on parents who might want to have a say in how the schools their tax dollars pay for are run.
Note the implication here that "bickering," which is nothing more than simple disagreement, on school policy is socially destructive.
This is the legacy of John Stewart's insipid "political disagreement (especially with leftism) is bad and should be avoided at all cost" ideology that he pushed for years on the Daily Show, infecting at least two generations with that immature viewpoint.
This is why leftists are always complaining when anyone doesn't roll over for their agenda. If shitlibs like Heraclitus are trying to frame mere disagreement and give-and-take as something to be avoided, that's an indication you should do the exact opposite.
Serious question, are you mentally challenged?
Who reads about the FBI investigating people for disagreeing with their local school board and walks away with the take "people are yelling and not being respectful of low level government bureaucrats"
Who?
A raging statist with a hard on for crushing dissent. Like Heraclitus.
Who reads about the FBI investigating people for disagreeing with their local school board and walks away with the take “people are yelling and not being respectful of low level government bureaucrats”
chemtard, for one. The fat fuck's been whining for weeks that parents should shut up and not question what teachers are teaching in the classroom.
Speaking of "spike", wasn't it the liberal democrats that just recently pushed through the confirmation of Tracy Stone-Manning who sent intimidating letters and was involved with a known eco-terrorist group that spiked trees?
We have plenty of laws and agencies to respond to real threatening behavior, and we don't need the Federal government to be involved.
This is clearly intended to stifle dissent.
This fucking nutjob was supposed to be a "moderate" non-leftists should support. Don't tell me this was just another lie in support of the leftist narrative.
"the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes," wrote the NSBA.
Indeed, 'classifying actions' could be very well be a form of domestic terrorism, although one suspects that it not what the NSBA meant.
●▬▬▬▬PART TIME JOBS▬▬▬▬▬● I am making $165 an hour working from home. i was greatly surprised at the same time as my neighbour advised me she changed into averaging $ninety five however I see the way it works now. I experience masses freedom now that i’m my non-public boss. that is what I do….http://webwork8.com
The writers at this publication have spent the better part of five years feverishly fellating the FBI from "there's Russians under my bed" to "actually domestic antiterrorism is totes libertarian-y because January 6th" , so I'm looking forward to the inevitable follow up article "The Libertarian Case for Labeling People Domestic Terrorists for Not Reading the 1619 Project".
Welcome to the Marxist Democrats version of America!
I am cheered by the fact that Garland didn't make it onto the Supreme Court. SCOTUS judges are lifetime commitments, but attorney's general? They come and go. He'll be gone when Biden goes, if not sooner. As for targeting PTA moms... you can mock them all day long, but don't mess with them. They may prove themselves Galrand and Biden's Waterloo. You can mock them, but an anrgy self-righetous PTA mom is a dangerous political animal. Not least least because many of these neighborhoods are affluent DEMOCRAT voting neighborhoods. Remember the Reagan democrats? This kind of nonsense will birth their contemporary successors.
The FBI has also proven itself serially incompetent. When it Gets caught going after a locally well connected soccer mom the visuals will be a thing to behold.
The FBI responded to a letter from the national organization that represents all our school boards.
"The National School Boards Association (NSBA) is a nonprofit educational organization operating as a federation of state associations of school boards across the United States. Founded in 1940, NSBA represents state school boards associations and their more than 90,000 local school board members."
Their letter began:
"America’s public schools and its education leaders are under an immediate threat. The National
School Boards Association (NSBA) respectfully asks for federal law enforcement and other assistance
to deal with the growing number of threats of violence and acts of intimidation occurring across the
nation. Local school board members want to hear from their communities on important issues and
that must be at the forefront of good school board governance and promotion of free speech.
However, there also must be safeguards in place to protect public schools and dedicated education
leaders as they do their jobs."
If the dips..ts up in arms about this would tell their buddies to calm down so we can have a democracy instead of a mob, our school boards could continue their long tradition of public service for not much pay.
Anyone who doesn't think this BS has not gotten out of hand is not paying attention. I realize that many on this board are primarily interested in getting cranked up about something everyday, but keep it here and don't take it to public meetings where everyone deserves a chance to speak and ecisions should be made without a threat of violence.
"... a democracy instead of a mob..."
Get off your high horse, you mendacious sanctimonious douche. After over a year of Burn Loot Murder, and Antifa black bloc terrorism your words ring more than a little hollow.
Which certainly explains your latest sock change. But does nothing to support your inapt characterization of parents airing their grievances at disinterested or oppositional government apparatchiks.
You are going to find fuckheads failing to keep their cool on every protest. For example, just look at Antifa all last year. Likewise, look at attempts to assault republicans recently, and assaults against Larry Elder during the latest recall election in CA.
These problems can be dealt with locally by police, and the only reason to discuss it at the federal level is because the federal government is uniquely likely to bomb the baby as it attempts to dispose of the bath water.
You know that, but instead you are hear telling people on this board that they need to tell their buddies to calm down. Clever little attempt to imply that it is all one group of buddies joining up, instead of a groundswell of parents fed up with this rank bullshit.
Go home Joe, and when you have kids you can talk about this. Until then your attempt to smear everyone attempting to work within the democratic process as bullies and thugs isn't just wrong, it is repulsive and has no place in a place of good discourse.
Why would you wish such an abject moral failure on poor kids?
LET'S GO JOEFRIDAY!
Anyone who doesn't think the BS being pushed in schools has gotten out of hand isn't paying attention. Parents get passionate about their kids' education and will get angry. It would be better for their cause if some toned it down a bit. And if there are people making serious threats, that's not good and should be punished. But this is happening for a real reason and to try to dismiss it because some people get a little overwrought is stupid.
If the dips..ts up in arms about this would tell their buddies to calm down so we can have a democracy instead of a mob, our school boards could continue their long tradition of public service for not much pay.
Anyone who doesn’t think this BS has not gotten out of hand is not paying attention. I realize that many on this board are primarily interested in getting cranked up about something everyday, but keep it here and don’t take it to public meetings where everyone deserves a chance to speak and ecisions should be made without a threat of violence.
Like I said upthread:
This goes back to what I keep saying that, if you really want to start pushing back against this shit, you NEED to get involved in these local government community organizations–school boards, PTA, city council, planning commissions–and subvert the ideological status quo that’s currently in place. These people count on your apathy and general distrust of government to keep their monopoly in place, which is why the NSBA is begging Garland to charge you as a domestic terrorist if you dare speak up against the leftist agenda.
Don't let shitlib fucks like Joey-poo gaslight you into thinking that you shouldn't afflict the comfortable and push back against this shit.
He's basically a propaganda machine. He's the same person who would support someone screaming at another person walking without a mask and call it "reasonable"
By all means Red Rock, involve yourself in local politics and service. School boards are typically elected and in non partisan races, so this conspiracy you allege includes plenty of Republicans and or non partisan public servants who care about education. If you can't do that without threatening someone because you don't get your way, stay home.
Please. This boils down to your side getting serious pushback, nothing else.
Nobody here is threatening anyone, so you can stow the disingenuous "have you stopped beating your wife" rhetoric.
No surprise there; Obama did the EXACT same thing - turned political dissent into domestic terrorist watch lists.
Because......... That's what Nazi's Do.
Oh yeah, your local school board is packed with Nazis.
What an idiot.
As-if the National FBI wasn't a National Socialist Regime exactly in this situation.
So, Overt and others.
A very large chunk of the comments in this discussion take the position that the real purpose of this AG memo is to stifle dissent, to investigate parents who do nothing but speak their minds at school board meetings, and to otherwise target dissent as equivalent to "domestic terrorism".
A few examples from above:
"This is the single most frightening abuse of the PATRIOT ACT in its long awful life."
"This is clearly intended to stifle dissent."
"They are literally and unequivocally trying to destroy anyone who stands in the way of their agenda."
Now here is what the conclusion of the memo actually says:
"To this end, I am directing the Federal Bureau of Investigation, working with each United States Attorney, to convene meetings with federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial leaders in each federal judicial district within 30 days of the issuance of this memorandum. These meetings will facilitate the discussion of strategies for addressing threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff, and will open dedicated lines of communication for threat reporting, assessment, and response."
So, AG Garland is directing the FBI to hold meetings to discuss strategies for addressing threats against school personnel. He's not calling school board protestors "domestic terrorists". No grand juries, no criminal investigations, no Gestapo stormtroopers.
Do you think characterizing this memo as, say, "the single most frightening abuse of the PATRIOT ACT", represents a "good faith argument"? Hmm? Do you think that an argument which claims that this memo is "clearly" trying to "stifle dissent" is trying to impute motives into the memo that are not actually demonstrated by the text of the memo itself? Hmm?
See, I'm just trying to calibrate my "good faith argument" meter for what you all expect. Because it sure seems to me that a lot of you think that "good faith" argument means "imputing the worst possible motives on the people you disagree with". And I was told that doing this type of thing constitutes "arguing in bad faith" when it happens against Team Red.
And before you start squawking about "THERE HE GOES DEFENDING THE LEFT AGAIN", IF AG Garland had said that they were "domestic terrorists" then I would absolutely object to that. And I DO object to the NSBA crowd characterizing the protestors as "domestic terrorists". But, I have no problem at all with the FBI or anyone else holding meetings to "facilitate the discussion of strategies for addressing threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff". Do you? Do you think it is "leftist" to hold meetings to "facilitate the discussion of strategies for addressing threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff"?
Do you think it is “leftist” to hold meetings to “facilitate the discussion of strategies for addressing threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff”?
chemtard radical deathfat claims he's not defending the left, while acting as their apologist yet again.
Hey fat boy, there are these things called "police departments" that the school boards can coordinate with on security for these kinds of things. That you're defending the involvement of federal officials in local issues isn't quite as bad as you crying that not letting child molesters in to the country is degrading their liberty, but it's pretty fucking close.
But, I have no problem at all with the FBI or anyone else holding meetings to “facilitate the discussion of strategies for addressing threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff”. Do you?
Yeah, fuckhead, and if you were actually a libertarian instead of virtue-signaling to your left-wing neighbors that you weren't "like THOSE people," you would too.
Don't bother. Chemjeff isn't even characterizing the memo correctly. The memo from Garland clearly promises that, "In the coming days, the Department will announce a series of measures designed to address the rise in criminal conduct directed toward school personnel."
But he describes it as just promising some meetings. It is completely disingenuous, as usual for him.
I mean, even Soave sees this memo for what it is. Garland was responding to the NSBA letter, promising to announce "measures to address" the "threats, harassment and intimidation"- a letter that directly invoked the PATRIOT Act. And all Chemjeff can do is focus on one part of the Memo and say, "See, it's not so bad!"
Well gee Overt. Do you want to discuss the actual memo, or do you want to discuss your mindreading of the sinister intentions that you believe arise out of this memo?
Didn't you accuse me of bad faith when I claimed that the Texas abortion law was awful because it created a Stasi-like system of neighbors snitching on each other, because I was unwilling to acknowledge the possible good intentions of this law or the pro-life movement in general? Hmm? Why yes you did.
So why aren't you willing to acknowledge the possible good intentions of what AG Garland is doing with this memo? Why is it not bad faith, by your own standard, to take an event and to impugn the worst possible motives onto the actors?
the possible good intentions
LMAO, holy shit, you're not even trying anymore.
Okay, so you tell me. Why should I be so fucking concerned about people having a bunch of meetings. Do those meetings violate anyone's rights? No. Now, if after a bunch of meetings, they declare "Hey, let's throw a bunch of parents in jail for just protesting at a school board meeting", then THAT would be wrong. But not because they had a meeting to form that conclusion.
Oh, and try to keep the paranoia to a minimum while you are explaining why I should be so OMG OUTRAGED that the FBI is going to hold some meetings.
Yeah, why should you be? These are your people doing it, after all, fat boy.
Right, so you didn't even bother trying to answer my question.
Previously you've said you've turned into a complete moral relativist - you're willing to adopt whatever tactics you perceive Team Blue using against you, no matter how awful, so I am not surprised by your reaction.
Your question was your typical lefty simping and not worth taking at face value.
And yes, making your lefty boo friends on the school boards uncomfortable by resisting their agenda is exactly the right thing to do, if for nothing else because doing so specifically irritates you.
"So, Overt and others."
nope, nope, nope. Stay the fuck away from me. I've wasted too much time with you Chemjeff. You've already got the same dress on as usual- "I OBJECT to the NSBA Letter (really!!!1!1), now let me spend endless paragraphs telling you how Garland's reaction to support that letter is on the up and up!"
And this dance will break some time tonight with you saying something like "of course I would condemn if the DOJ started doing X." And then in one or two months when the time comes for you to, you know, do what you said, you will be back to "well of course I object to X (really!!!11!!), now let me spend hours arguing about why I am siding with my tribe anyways despite not at all being a tribal partisan."
No way man. I am not doing that again.
No, I get it. I finally call out your bullshit claim that you want "good faith arguments" from people here. No you don't. Throughout these entire comments there were people doing exactly what you continually accuse me of doing, to wit, reading in sinister motives into a memo that, when taken at face value, is nothing but an instruction to hold some meetings; and, using emotion in the place of logical argument, such as when people declare that this memo represents "the single most frightening abuse of the PATRIOT ACT" or "They are literally and unequivocally trying to destroy anyone who stands in the way of their agenda". Or when people make dark references to the Gestapo. And you didn't say a damn word about "good faith arguments" or "using emotions".
YOU are the one who is not acting in good faith here. YOU are the one who demands that Team Blue be given the harshest possible treatment, no matter how unfair it is, while Team Red be treated with scrupulous fairness. You are the one with the double standard.
Tell us all honestly, Overt. Do you believe this memo is "the single most frightening abuse of the PATRIOT ACT"? Yes or no? If no, then why do you excuse such hyperbolic emoting from *your team*?
Throughout these entire comments there were people doing exactly what you continually accuse me of doing, to wit, reading in sinister motives into a memo that, when taken at face value, is nothing but an instruction to hold some meetings
Yeah, and stuff like PRISM was just an instruction to browse websites.
Waddle your fat ass on out of here with that shit, you plaque-ridden pig.
No I get it. This memo says "hey let's have some meetings to discuss this issue". Therefore it's EVIL.
chemtard, True and Honest Libertarian, loves it when federal officials get involved in local issues when parents are accused of being domestic terrorists.
RRWP the mindreader thinks "holding meetings" = tyranny
chemtard radical death fat admits he loves it when federal officials get involved in local issues when his lefty boos are uncomfortable.
I didn't say I "loved" anything in this entire discussion. But I get it, these are your tactics. Never back down, never apologize, always attack, always remain on the offensive, force the other side to go on the defensive, make wild accusations in order to remain on the offensive, they don't even have to be true, what's most important is to always ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK. That's basically what you do here.
You've been acting as their apologist in this whole thread, fat boy. And that's right, not backing down to you or your lefty boos is exactly why you get so bent out of shape about it and trying to deflect to the memo, instead of the principle of federal involvement in local issues after an organization run by left-wingers sicced the DoJ on the people pushing back. The last thing you want is people pushing back against any of this, because they're on your side.
RRWP, True or False: The NSBA declared that parents who oppose their agenda are domestic terrorists and should be thrown in jail.
trying to deflect to the memo
LOL the memo is the entire reason for this article.
chemtard, quoting the very passage:
could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism
LOL the memo is the entire reason for this article.
LOL the memo wouldn't have even come out if the NSBA hadn't said that resisting their agenda was domestic terrorism.
if the NSBA hadn’t said that resisting their agenda was domestic terrorism.
The people "resisting their agenda" by participating in "acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials"? Yes, that is what they said. I don't agree that they ought to be labeled as domestic terrorists.
The people "resisting their agenda" by showing up to a school board meeting and doing nothing but complaining about CRT, or transgender policies? No, they didn't label those people as "domestic terrorists".
The people “resisting their agenda” by participating in “acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials”? Yes, that is what they said. I don’t agree that they ought to be labeled as domestic terrorists.
Which is irrelevant, since that's the justification being used to get the FBI involved.
Christ, you can't even defend your own side without stepping in shit.
I'm NOT defending "their side". I'm trying to get you to acknowledge reality here:
1. NSBA never claimed that everyone showing up in protest to a school board meeting is a "domestic terrorist".
2. The FBI is not starting a pogrom against school board protestors under the guise of "domestic terrorism".
Acknowledging reality is not the same as moral approval.
I’m NOT defending “their side”.
Yeah, you are.
1. NSBA never claimed that everyone showing up in protest to a school board meeting is a “domestic terrorist”.
2. The FBI is not starting a pogrom against school board protestors under the guise of “domestic terrorism”.
Now you're trying to desperately parse the argument because you know your side is in the wrong.
Acknowledging reality is not the same as moral approval.
The reality is your lefty boos are trying to sic the Feds on parents by calling them domestic terrorists.
Now you’re trying to desperately parse the argument because you know your side is in the wrong.
Wait, didn't you just get finished saying that I am DEFENDING "my side"? Make up your mind.
The reality is your lefty boos are trying to sic the Feds on parents by calling them domestic terrorists.
That is the "reality" that you WISHED existed. Because it would play right into your desire to stoke demagogic fear and outrage and drive Team Red to the polls. You WANT people to believe Garland is a tyrannical monster throwing parents in jail for nothing more than having the temerity to oppose CRT in schools. Because then it would be cartoonishly easy to cast Team Blue as the evil side and usher in a glorious wave of Team Red happiness. But that is not the reality that actually exists.
Stop defending your lefty boos for once in your life, fat boy.
A Team Blue AG writes a memo about holding some meetings, and suddenly it's equivalent to instituting a program of mass surveillance.
Do you understand how stupid you sound? You are not helping your own cause. You sound like a complete paranoid nutcase.
chemtard's lefty boos try to sic the Feds on parents by calling them "domestic terrorists," and he accuses people quoting their own words of "being paranoid."
You didn't quote their own words. You think that NSBA wants all of these parents labeled as "domestic terrorists" only because they are "resisting their agenda". That's not even what they wrote. But as I write below, what they actually do does not matter to you.
Yeah, I did, Jabba the Hutt. In fact, so did you, right below.
could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism
could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism
For people who, in their view, commit “acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials”. Which is a very, very, very small subset of people who are "resisting their agenda". But you are trying to insinuate that what they REALLY want to do is to throw everyone in jail just for showing up and speaking out against CRT, or something. That is where your claims are not supported by the evidence.
But you are trying to insinuate that what they REALLY want to do is to throw everyone in jail just for showing up and speaking out against CRT, or something. That is where your claims are not supported by the evidence.
They're supported by the fact that they went and whined to Garland about it, and compared them to domestic terrorists.
They’re supported by the fact that they went and whined to Garland about it, and compared them to domestic terrorists.
Where the "them" in your sentence, are people who they think are committing “acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials”. The "them" in your sentence, are NOT "every school board protestor speaking out against CRT".
I don't expect you to acknowledge this, because it is far more useful to your agenda to have people believe that Garland wants all school board protestors labeled as "domestic terrorists", because that type of lie will fuel anger and outrage and drive people to the polls against Team Blue. Because that is your ultimate goal here. Not having a reality-based conversation. But having a conversation in which the perception of reality is shaped in order to produce a particular outcome. In other words, propaganda.
Where the “them” in your sentence, are people who they think are committing “acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials”. The “them” in your sentence, are NOT “every school board protestor speaking out against CRT”.
You're trying to parse again because you're desperate to cleave to the argument that the FBI getting involved in local school board matters after the NSBA accused parents who resisted their agenda as domestic terrorists, is no big deal.
I don’t expect you to acknowledge this
Because your arguments aren't worth the bandwidth used to preserve them.
You’re trying to parse again
And by "parse", what I have done is repeated their own words. Got it.
And by “parse”, what I have done is repeated their own words. Got it.
By parse, what you have done is act as an apologist for government overreach. Now go waddle yourself into a heart attack, fat boy.
Red Rocks, I know from experience that it is really not that hard to get jeffy to paint himself into a corner, but bravo, regardless.
It's like watching a cat unwind a roll of toilet paper. Annoying, but still funny as hell.
"Do you think it is “leftist” to hold meetings to “facilitate the discussion of strategies for addressing threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff"? "
Yes. Because the FBI has no reason to involve itself in this issue. This is a local issue, which should be handled by local law enforcement, who have not asked for federal assistance in handling local law enforcement issues.
What other reason could there be for this very public request from the school board association, and the very public response from Garland, other than to act as a veiled threat to people who show up at school board meetings?
What other reason could there be for this very public request from the school board association, and the very public response from Garland, other than to act as a veiled threat to people who show up at school board meetings?
Well, we could take the memo at face value, and conclude that the AG is concerned about genuine threats and intimidation against school staff, and wants to hold some meetings to see if there is something that the FBI can do about it. No veiled threat for going to a school board meeting and voicing one's opinion without threats and intimidation.
But, you might say, "Take the government at face value??? How naive could you be???" To which I would respond, well, if I am not supposed to take this memo at face value, why should I take the protestors at face value? Cynicism and paranoia cuts both ways you know.
chemtard radical deathfat simps for his lefty government boos again.
Lol. Taking the FBI at face value is just stupid at this point. They have a long, sordid history of being, at best, incompetent, and at worst, downright malicious. I don't believe a goddam thing the FBI says, and you shouldn't either.
At the very least, this is a waste of government time, effort, and money. The FBI has no role here. These are ALL local police matters, and the local police haven't asked for the FBI's help. What assistance could the FBI offer that local PDs don't already have and can't already get fr state police departments or sheriffs or whatever?
There's no reason for the FBI to trouble itself with pissed off parents raging at local elected officials who, frankly, deserve it.
“ But, I have no problem at all with the FBI or anyone else holding meetings to “facilitate the discussion of strategies for addressing threats against school administrators, board members, teachers, and staff”. Do you?”
Of course you don’t.
Chemjeff -- It's not a *REAL* armed round-up of "The Jews".
So my question to you is; exactly at what point does labeling USA patriots 'domestic terrorists' become an armed round-up of "The Jews" (in this particular case USA Patriots). When patriots refuse to have their children indoctrinated by Nazi-CRT and tells the Nazi-Indoctrination camp to stuff it up their *sses - they then get investigated for 'domestic terrorism'?
Why is this a matter that feds should be involved with at all? These are local meetings, no interstate anything involved and if actual threats are being made, those are ordinary assaults properly dealt with at the state level. There is absolutely no reason the FBI should be involved unless they are trying to claim it's terrorism or some kind of organized interstate conspiracy.
How about the states take of the school board issues instead of wasting the feds time. Why aren't these School Boards focusing on reading, writing, math, and science before all the other BS "education"? Dumb kids typically become dumb adults.
Can't build a Nazi-Regime without making everything National! 🙂
The reason why STEM classes and other important lessons are not taught is because the teachers are busily indoctrinating children into LGBTQ and CRT along with Marxist indoctrination.
They have no time for rayciss maffs, science or english.(white supremacy, you know)
The sooner local school boards take back their authority , made up of local parents who want a decent education not indoctrination or the results will be that public education will fade and be replaced by something else, either more private schools or home school groups.
Just remember, Dems wanted him to be on the Supreme Court, and for the past 5 years they were screaming unwavering support for him. This guy is definite scum and good reason he wasn't given a chance on the SC
Democrats have excused, praised, and encouraged incivility by shouting down conservatives speakers (if not physically taking over the podium/microphone, or harming the speaker), getting in peoples' faces (per Mad Maxine Waters), or doing some fist fighting (per Pelosi and Scumer), or encouraging assassination of the GOP softball team without a call for civility (it's part of the process per Biden, such as filming people in the bathroom). Further, it's mostly peaceful protests that led to over a $ billion in insurance claims for the BLM riots where no one was prosecuted AFAIK.
Now all of a sudden, it's domestic terrorism when the audience at a school board meeting chants "No more masks", or a bunch of people walk around inside the Capitol, a public building, where there were a bunch of people who suspiciously looked like FBI agents wearing black covering head to toe, leading the break in into the Capitol.
The liberals also like to doxx certain people's address so they can send their street warriors to harass them at their homes. Remember what happened to Tucker Carlson's family while he was at work. The cowards waited until he was away, then attacked and nearly broke into his home while his family was present. Fortunately they did not succeed as no telling what they would have done to his wife and children. Unfortunately his wife was not armed nor trained to use one properly.
Expect this to become the norm and it will get worse.
National Associations for local government entities are always leftie grifters. Now on to "School boards"..they are controlled by teacher unions, loser EdD administrators, contractors and consultant grifters and the educational "experts" from loser marxist schools of "education" all supported by misguided PTA moms who get their friends to elect them to the board (so they can have "influence when they kid skips school or gets caught smoking pot in school).
Federal law has no authority over local schools..this is pure federal govt bolshevikism..and Garland's son in law is cashing in on the CRT "consulting" business funded by FaceBook. Wake up Reason wokes..they want you dead and your kids to be good little marxists..
As of the GOP..well guys you could have shut down the Dept of Education but didn't have the balls.
The creation of the DOE simply centralized education to Washington. Another poorly run bureaucracy run by people whose only goal is to milk the system and collect a fat pension when retired.
Central planning is a failed experiment. The Soviets proved that. It's the reason why the Soviet Union collapsed.
Centrally planning education is a fools errand. Education belongs in the hands of the school districts, not some clueless apparatchiks in Washington and especially not so in the hands of radical left neo Marxists.
I do not like this article or its disengenous click bait headline. It claims the Garland memo "instructed the FBI to be on the lookout for angry parents demanding accountability at school board meetings"
Really? From the actual memo:
"While spirited debate about policy matters is protected under our Constitution, that protection does not extend to threats of violence or efforts to intimidate individuals based on their views."
It's very generic and focused on harassment, intimidation and violent threats.
The NSBA letter is bad and asks for very heavy handed federal involvement but that doesn't mean they don't have legitimate safety concerns about the unruly mobs showing up to meetings or about threats school officials have been receiving. I don't understand why the behavior of the parents is being downplayed. Some are truly acting like unhinged lunatics and are motivated by a belief in deranged conspiracy theories. If you called out the unruly mobs of BLM activist groups for disrupting events and meetings last summer you should do the same with the unruly mobs who refuse to follow basic rules at school board meetings and just want to be disruptive.
We can debate over how to address these safety concerns and explain how the requests made in the NSBA's letter are detrimental to civil liberties without portraying them in the most uncharitable way possible, as though they're just trying to "censor" dissenting parents. Very dishonest.
This is just a warm up for when refusing to enroll your kids in the public schools makes you a terrorist
Agreed, yours is one of the few sensible comments to this article here. Please stick around, we need more people like you to combat the extreme paranoia that has taken over these comment boards.
Of course you agree, you fat waste of flesh. Anyone resisting your lefty boos is just being paranoid, and doesn't have legitimate concerns or a right to determine how the school in their community are run. After all, parents should shut up and not say anything against the "experts," right?
What are your legitimate concerns about the actual memo AS WRITTEN? Not what you THINK the memo says, not what you THINK their intentions are, but the actual words of the actual memo. Go ahead, spell them out.
I don't give a fuck about the memo AS WRITTEN, because it's clearly an attempt by you to distract from the fact that your lefty boos are trying to sic the Feds on parents by labeling them domestic terrorists.
I don’t give a fuck about the memo AS WRITTEN
Right, I get it. Reality does not matter. What matters is the perception of reality that you can deliver to others in the form of a believable narrative. If you can get enough people to believe that the memo is a part of a sinister strategy to throw parents in jail for "domestic terrorism" for nothing more than peaceful protest at a school board meeting, then all's the better for you. What matters is defeating Team Blue, and if reality is an obstacle to that, then change reality to fit the agenda.
The reality is your lefty boos whined to Garland that parents resisting their agendas are domestic terrorists, and Garland didn't do the libertarian thing, which is tell them, "contact your local police departments to deal with this." So here you are, giving a full-throated defense of Garland.
What matters is defeating Team Blue, and if reality is an obstacle to that, then change reality to fit the agenda.
What matters is defeating anything you're providing a full-throated defense of. At this point, you're a fantastic reverse barometer of what a stable, functional society should be like.
your lefty boos whined to Garland that parents resisting their agendas are domestic terrorists
They actually didn't.
But I understand, reality is inconvenient to you, so you have to try to change the perception of reality to fit your agenda.
So here you are, giving a full-throated defense of Garland.
I'm giving a full-throated defense of REALITY. Nowhere did I make any sort of judgment about whether I thought Garland was doing the right thing or the wrong thing here. I simply do not think that writing a memo asking for people to hold meetings represents some existential threat to liberty.
They actually didn’t.
They actually did.
I’m giving a full-throated defense of REALITY. Nowhere did I make any sort of judgment about whether I thought Garland was doing the right thing or the wrong thing here.
Yeah, you've just been downplaying it as "jus' havin' meetins' gaiz!" Where's that principled moral high ground you love to waddle yourself up upon while having a sports asthma attack?
Right; And what other political entity was "just having meetings"; right before gas chambers came into effect... Of course the results of those "just meetings" were well-known until a decade later.
Great. Now do the Wannsee Protocol AS WRITTEN.
I don’t understand why the behavior of the parents is being downplayed.
Because it's clearly just left-wing apparatchiks at the NSBA freaking out that parents are actually pushing back on their bullshit, and they're trying to sic the feds on these people by well-poisoning them as "domestic terrorists."
This shit at the board meetings isn't even comparable to what the Louden County school board members did in colluding with radical leftists to try and dox their own community members and ruin their livelihoods. When you buttermilk biscuits start showing half as much concern over that as parents chanting against mask mandates, then we'll take you seriously.
Because it’s clearly just left-wing apparatchiks at the NSBA freaking out that parents are actually pushing back on their bullshit
We know this because RRWP can read minds.
chemtard radical deathfat thinks quoting his lefty boos calling parents "domestic terrorists" is reading minds.
"As these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes," wrote the NSBA.
Gee, they are clearly referencing "acts of malice, violence, and threats against pubic school officials". They are not calling all parents "domestic terrorists" simply for "pushing back".
could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism
LOL, way to self-own in the very quote you cited, fat boy.
Referring to "acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials".
Not referring to "people showing up and arguing against CRT".
Referring to “acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials”.
Not referring to “people showing up and arguing against CRT”.
Funny how they don't cite any of these in their complaint, just whine about it to the AG.
So? That is what they referred to when they used the label "domestic terrorists".
Are we going to start reading minds now and claim that when they wrote “acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials”, what they REALLY meant was "some guy showing up and complaining about CRT"?
Yeah, using language like comparing parents and community members resisting their agenda to domestic terrorists isn't inflammatory language at all.
Yeah, using language like comparing
parents and community members resisting their agendapeople who commit “acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials” to domestic terrorists isn’t inflammatory language at all. There, fixed it for you.
And I even agree with you that the language is inflammatory and inappropriate, EVEN WHEN applied to people who commit “acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials”.
But, it would be EVEN MORE inflammatory and inappropriate and outrageous if it was applied to every parent who showed up in protest to a school board meeting, wouldn't it? Which is what you're trying to do here. Create a perception of reality more favorable to your agenda than actual reality itself.
There, fixed it for you.
No, you just put your eternally stupid spin on it.
But, it would be EVEN MORE inflammatory and inappropriate and outrageous if it was applied to every parent who showed up in protest to a school board meeting, wouldn’t it? Which is what you’re trying to do here. Create a perception of reality more favorable to your agenda than actual reality itself.
The reality is that the NSBA doesn't like it that parents are pushing back against left-liberal policies in the schools, and went to get the Feds involved because they see it as the easiest means to try and get these people to sit down and shut up.
That's the reality, and literally nothing you write is going to change that.
No, you just put your eternally stupid spin on it.
And by "eternally stupid spin", what you really mean is "the NSBA's own words".
The reality is that the NSBA doesn’t like it that parents are pushing back against left-liberal policies in the schools, and went to get the Feds involved because they see it as the easiest means to try and get these people to sit down and shut up.
Your claims are not supported by the evidence at hand.
That’s the reality, and literally nothing you write is going to change that.
Evidently, nothing that either AG Garland or NSBA writes will change your opinion on reality either.
Yes. They were explicit about it. When pressed, they said they would be working to educate school boards and teachers as to what language constitutes threats and violence. Explicitly mentioned were protests about mask mandates and CRT.
The memo went out to all of the left media to push the support for this. Every talking head on CNN and MSNBC has been showing clips of moms saying "you are abusing children" to school boards and calling this "terrifying right wing violence" They all invoked Proud Boys, Qanon and white supremacists as being behind protests of school board actions.
Your "nothing to see here" talking point is out of sync with the party.
They are not simply "having meetings". ... They are tasking the antiterrorism unit with targeting these people.. By pushing school boards to prosecute them with local police, but with the feds if necessary.
There was no effort to hide this. They gave congressional testimony to this effect and everything.
You need neither the FBI nor the DOJ to hold meetings to discuss threats go school boards. They have plenty of power to handle that themselves. They were not able to point to any actual violence or pattern when pressed.
Pretending this is anything other than a threat to suppress dissent is simply dishonest.
Your “nothing to see here” talking point is out of sync with the party.
Pretty much everything chemtard claims can be dismissed as a lie at this point.
So can we acknowledge that walking around the Capitol, staying within the velvet ropes, doesn't constitute a violent attempt to overthrow the U.S. government?
Keep repeating and it will become the truth.
We all saw the videos. Who are you gonna believe me or your lying eyes?
The videos of people walking around the Capitol, staying within the velvet ropes? Yeah, I've seen them.
I've also seen videos of people attacking cops and smashing windows. I have no problem with prosecuting them (for assault and property damage, though; not for insurrection). What I have a problem with is throwing the book at those who were walking peacefully around the Capitol, keeping within the velvet ropes, as if they were the Weather Underground. (Actually, worse than the Weather Underground: when Bernardine Dohrn came out of hiding, she got off with probation.)
"Keep repeating and it will become the truth.
We all saw the videos. Who are you gonna believe me or your lying eyes?"
It needs pointing out that this piece of lying shit, is, by enough inference, an MD; "smug" is pretty much a given, and pretty much un-earned.
MDs and LLDs are the only doctorates other than probably the newer "studies" doctorates, which do not require any advancement of the art to qualify for a doctorate. Just memorize enough, and you've got it. Original thinking? Who cares?
If you hold a patent, you've evidenced far more original thought than E has ever offered.

Joe Friday, -3000
Fuck off and die, Joe; make your dog happy.
“While spirited debate about policy matters is protected under our Constitution, that protection does not extend to threats of violence or efforts to intimidate individuals based on their views.”
Thus, it would be appropriate for the FBI (not the local jurisdiction) to monitor or actively get involved in Black Lives Matter protests or their involvement in town hall meetings in which they yell threats and racial slur at police, politicians, etc. Right?
A bunch of kids riding a skateboard on a sidewalk and leaving threatening comments online is also against the law. You want the DOJ of the country to characterize them as "domestic terrorists" and sic federal officers on local neighborhoods?
The Chemjeff crew is the KING of disingenuous takes. They zero in on an issue that generate a lot of passionate replies and then purposely misread or selectively cherry pick info to create an illusion that we're somehow reacting on misinformation.
Parents who object raucously in meetings are not "domestic terrorists". If some of them cross the line, it's up to the local police to investigate the matter. This is governance and federalism 101. Of course, if the Trump admin took this approach, Chemjeff would have strenuously objected to this dangerous expansion of government power and police overreach, in which bumbling federal officers are allowed to act outside of their jurisdiction.
There's a very simple solution. When C.R.T. or the alphabet brigade agenda (LGBTQ) rears its ugly head in your school system, start the recall petitions on every DUMBOCRAT on the school board, get them certified, and throw their butts out of office and replace them with sound Christian conservatives. Just let the recall election be a nice surprise to them. Totally blindside them.
...And while you're at it a recall petition on the Director of the FBI. <- That is what makes this situation so appalling.
The solution is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SIMPLE..
Problem: The People don't appreciate having Gov-Guns telling them what indoctrination they MUST learn.
Solution: Take Gov-Guns out of the sales of education (PERIOD!)
Abolish government run schooling. Gun-Forces do not belong in personal education.
It's bad enough Merrick Garland will be AG for a few years. Imagine if he had been seated for life on the Supreme Court.
Leftist authoritarianism is getting bolder every day.
Garland's message is just this simple: Speak out against CRT,LGBTQ or the use of pornography in public schools and you will be treated as domestic terrorist.
The left has promised to build back better in that they intend to destroy cities, families and business in order to meet their goal of their own NWO.
Garland's message is intended to chill and silence free speech.
The fact that neither the teacher union or its national organization has any evidence of extremist activity, violence or threats made against school board members other than the threats to unseat them through the voting process. This is what scares the leftists on school boards....being voted out of power and replaced by people with common sense and real values not those of the perverted degenerate left.
Congress needs to act now to remove Garland from office. He needs to be given the boot out of Washington and back to what ever rock he squirmed out from under. Garland is a slimy little snake of a Marxist, someone who couldn't be trusted to run a bingo game.
A.G. Merrick Garland Tells FBI To Investigate Politically Harass Parents Who Disagree With Democratic Policy
Hey Garland's elitist son in law is making millions selling CRT "consulting" to school boards...the ultimate grifter..like all dems who are screaming for education as it is for the "kids"..ha ha ha
Ultimate hypocrites like all millionaire dems..making money running govt programs..close it all down
This would be a big concern even if the FBI was at least semi competent. Right now the FBI is ran by the cigarette smoking man from the X files, except the smoking man is now woke.
America isn't going to be great forever. Rome fell, the Mongolian empire fell, and Great Britain is not the same country that beat Napoleon and the Nazis. It could be 100 years from now or 1000 years from now, and at some, our descendants will look back and say "Hey remember when we used to be world power?"
The 2020s might be remembered the start of serious decline. It will be remembered as a time when a hapless, mentally deficient American president failed to secure the border, making enemies out of border patrol and police officers based on intentional lies. He abandoned hundreds of Americans in hostile territories. He demonizes unvaxxed American workers who came to the aid of fellow Americans during the height of the pandemic. His DOJ involves the FBI to suppress and intimidate angry parents.
He does not a THING to alleviate rampant inflation. He does not a THING to address rising homicide rates. He goes to sleep when thousands of unverified outsiders flood our gates. You expect a leftist president to toe the liberal line on green issues and identity politics, but not to abandon actually running the country so it can function at the most basic level.
Debt and spending is always going to be an issue. But right now the nation facing more immediate, existential crisis. And the libertarians at the academic level either ignores it or dismisses it.
The AG and FBI have done NOTHING to curb Antifa and BLM violence. REAL violence.
A BILLION $ rampage. Hundreds of beatings.
But raise your voice in a school board meeting, and you can expect the FBI to come knocking on your door.
Remember: NEVER speak to cops. Anything you say can indeed be used against you, regardless of your guilt or innocence.

"Yelling does not meet the criteria, Garland is insane, stupid or a liar."
Yes.
