Sexism in Politics Is Real. It's Not Kamala Harris' Main Problem.
Plus: Behind the CDC mask guidance, where new mask mandates are cropping up, and more...

Several new polls suggest the American people haven't exactly warmed to Vice President Kamala Harris. Her unfavorable rating in an Economist/YouGov poll conducted July 24–27 was 48 percent, while just 43 percent viewed her favorably. And, among the youngest voters, nearly a quarter had no opinion of her at all.
A Politico/Morning Consult poll released last week found 45 percent of respondents viewed Harris favorably, while 47 percent viewed her unfavorably.
And a poll of Californians—conducted by the Berkeley Institute of Governmental Studies and the Los Angeles Times—found people's views of Harris have "slid over the last three months," as the Times notes. While 49 percent said they approved of her performance as vice president so far, this represents a drop of four percentage points. Meanwhile, 38 percent disapproved, up five percentage points from the last poll three months ago.
"Her small lag behind Biden's numbers shows that, even in her native California, Harris is a slightly more polarizing figure than the president," the Times points out.
According to RealClearPolitics, an average of polls gives Harris a 51 percent approval rating and a 43 percent disapproval rating.
A survey last week from Trafalgar Group found 63.6 percent of surveyed voters were not confident that Harris is ready to be president.
"Perhaps the worst-kept secret in Washington is that tons of Democrats are terrified of the prospect of Kamala Harris becoming the Democratic Party presidential nominee at some point in the future," writes Matthew Yglesias, Vox co-founder.

While personally "not that scared of her current approval numbers," Yglesias is scared by dismissiveness about these numbers. "The reaction that you hear from the Harrisverse to these worries…is mostly to accuse critics of sexism or to attribute her political problems to sexism," notes Yglesias.
Indeed, just typing this paragraph I can feel the people getting ready to yell at me on Twitter. But my point isn't to deny that sexism is real (it clearly is) or that it's felt by women in politics (it clearly is) but that this kind of fatalism is paralyzing and politically deadly. There are women in politics who are popular and successful at winning tough races, and they didn't do it by making sexism vanish from the planet earth any more than Barack Obama and Raphael Warnock ended racism.
In other words, sexism in politics is real, but it's not Harris' core problem. And as long as she, her staff, or her fans insist on pretending that's the only reason people don't like her, it puts her at a political disadvantage. (Not that that's a bad thing…)
If Harris wants to be popular—and be president someday—she needs to "stop acting like her job is to win the support of the young, highly educated urban activists and progressive donors who play an outsized role in California and national Democratic politics. They already love her," writes Damon Linker at The Week.
Instead, she should aim to win moderate swing voters by tailoring her public statements to appeal to an imagined 50-something white person without a college degree who lives in the suburbs of a mid-sized and decidedly unhip Midwestern city (like Grand Rapids, Michigan). In concrete terms, this would mean responding to a question about whether the United States is a racist country by expressing the kind of hokey patriotism that comes second nature to Biden. Just say, "America is the greatest country in the world," and leave it at that.
Fortunately for us, it seems unlikely that Harris will be willing to do that. As Linker notes, "so many Democrats from her faction of the party would view such efforts as a moral betrayal." And Harris, in her current iteration, has made appealing to this faction her top priority. Then again, Harris' history in politics is nothing if not a story about being willing to be whoever voters want her to be for a given moment. She's shape-shifted before, and she could do it again.

Behind the CDC mask guidance. This week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) once again said that some vaccinated people should wear masks inside. In making the announcement, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky nodded to data showing that—contrary to previous evidence—vaccinated people may indeed be able to spread COVID-19. But that evidence is unpublished, leaving a lot of questions about what it actually shows. Reason's Jacob Sullum explores what we know here.
One data point may be an outbreak in Provincetown, Massachusetts. "All indications now are that the Provincetown outbreak investigation is among the pieces of new evidence behind the CDC's decision to ask Americans to once again put on their masks indoors, even if they are vaccinated," reports ABC News. "As of Thursday, 882 people were tied to the Provincetown outbreak. Among those living in Massachusetts, 74% of them were fully immunized, yet officials said the vast majority were also reporting symptoms. Seven people were reported hospitalized."
How representative Provincetown over July 4 weekend may be is up for debate:
If the CDC is heavily relying on the Provincetown outbreak to understand Delta, I am wary. It's hard to imagine a more efficient environment for spreading an airborne virus than bars in Provincetown on July 4. https://t.co/POwzEUDdiQ

Mask mandates return. The new CDC guidance and fears about the delta variant are driving some areas to bring back indoor mask mandates. In Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser announced Thursday that anyone over 2 years old must mask up indoors.
"Due to the continued day-over-day case rate increases of COVID-19 from the highly infectious Delta variant, the Sacramento County Public Health Officer has issued a health order requiring masking indoors regardless of vaccination status," the county announced yesterday.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said "we're gonna provide further guidance at the beginning of next week," while Los Angeles County already reimposed an indoor mask mandate earlier this month.
But leaders in a number of other areas—including Florida, Iowa, Ohio, Michigan, and New Hampshire—have explicitly rejected reimposing mask mandates.

Several new polls suggest the American people haven't exactly warmed to Vice President Kamala Harris.
You have to be a special level of insincere politician for poll respondents to see it.
The press has been running major cover for her since she was considered for VP in the first place.
Before, when she was in congress and/or a presidential candidate she was ranked as one of the most consistently left members of congress, and she definitely wasn't mainstream in her stump and debate points. But as soon as she was announced for the Biden ticket the media all ran to gaslight the public that she was a centrist and unifying force.
VP is a job where it is easy to hide this stuff, as well. You're not on the hot seat every day.
So people just don't know a lot about her. If she came up against an antagonistic press, or was subjected to the intense scrutiny of an election as the D candidate for presidency, I suspect a lot of the "She's not ready" folks would be "Hell no" folks.
VP is a job where it is easy to hide this stuff, as well. You’re not on the hot seat every day.
Yeah, people didn't really pay attention to Pence all that much, and he was the VP of one of the most spotlight-hungry Presidents in history.

Harris garnered success by fucking Willie Brown. If she doesn’t see herself as a victim of sexism then she might have to admit she just isn’t that talented.
Much better to convince yourself that all women got their positions by sucking cock.
She also used her prosecutors office to intimidate political donors for her opponents, a practice the USSC final struck down just this year.
https://vidjar-review.medium.com/streamout-review-the-legendary-platform-for-streaming-live-videos-in-the-world-1e06caf2c64c
There is plenty to criticize Harris about: her drug warrior history, mercilessness as a prosecutor, two-facedness, her poor showing in the Democratic presidential primary. But, no, let’s go with the most sexist criticism we can, and reinforce her favored excuse for her lack of appeal.
Lol. You say you're not a leftist but you rushed to defend Harris of all people against an actual true fact that is noted and well documented.
Wow.
Maybe this says more about Dee’s own life than she’d want to admit.
That's your takeaway from that comment, huh?
Yes. Please explain how it is wrong. You're defending someone that is crying fake cries of racism over a known fact about Harris. It is not disputed, innuendo, or what not.
White Mike's only comment is about how mean it is to attack Harris for an action she committed. His comment is nonsense.
Have you ever seen White Mike resort to this behavior for anyone who isn't a Democrat? I'm not sure what you think you are getting out by defending him.
Sorry, sexism, not racism. Point still stands.
Remember, Mike has been critical about the actions and behaviors of plenty of other politicians. He has attacked Trump, Gaetz, and others for their moral behaviors and not their political actions.
It is hypocritical of him. Again, not sure why you are defending him BUCS.
Don't forget her handling of the border crisis.
Sorry, forgot that one.
Also her enslavement of prisoners ordered released by courts because the state needed labor.
Or her dropping of the #metoo rhetoric after it became clear she would be second fiddle to the glass ceiling Biden.
Didn’t know about that one.
That’s shocking.
Your pearl clutching might carry a little more weight if Harris hadn’t, in fact, launched her political career through appointments from a married man she was having an intimate relationship with. Thinking that there’s something wrong with that isn’t an attack on the women politicians who didn’t do that. Quite the opposite. Normalizing it trivializes all those who didn’t.
Mike's a steaming pile of lefty shit who lies nearly as often as turd, and like turd will consciously ignore any fact which contradicts his bullshit.
Re-read my comment. There was no “pearl clutching”.
is it sexist to criticism a person for trading sexual favors to get a job?
Madame VEEP reserves the right to "METOO" Willie Brown should she feel it advantageous to her career path.
It's pretty insignificant compared to the actual policy failures of the individual.
but is it sexist? Laursen claims it is but I'm not so sure.
It is still a feature of her political career. Nobody here is defending her other political actions.
Were people sexist when they attacked Trump for his comments or behaviors around women?
The only sexist part is claiming women are immune to attacks against their morals because of their sex.
After four years of a president whose character concerns limited and eventually sank his presidency, I really don't see why it's so easily discounted. Especially by an anti-Trumper like Mike.
I never said a word about Trump's extramarital affairs and such. I do wonder why fundamentalist Christians support a man who doesn't even try to follow fundamentalist Christian morality, but pretends to be religious.
EVANGELICALS ON TRUMP, IN A NUTSHELL: “Donald Trump is going to embarrass me every day of the year, but unlike the other side, he doesn’t hate my faith, and actively seek to do me harm.”
Alternate headline: Christian's Just Voting For Whichever Political Party Less Likely To Make Their Faith Illegal One Day.
Yes, it is. Nobody would say the same thing if it were a politically-ambitious man dating an established woman politician.
Also, it is a mere presumption/right-wing taking point that Harris only succeeded because of her dating Willie Brown.
Except John Kerry has been rightly derided as a kept man for years.
Sir, that is Senator Gigolo.
Well, that explains the long face!
Harris only succeeded because of her dating Willie Brown is a fact.
It's not the "dating" that's the problem, it's the appointment to powerful political positions.
And you can bet that people wouldn't just point this out for a man, the charge of having achieved their success and status in return for providing sexual favors would be devastating for a man.
But for some reason, white knights like you think that this sort of misconduct and lack of accomplishment is somehow excusable in a female politician. You are the sexist, not the people criticizing Harris.
I recently read that men are rewarded for fucking their bosses but women are penalized for it. Modern feminists are fucking retarded.
What exactly do you think is "sexist" about pointing out that a politician launched their career by sleeping with another powerful, married politician?
Not only is the criticism not sexist, it is certainly quite relevant, since in a merit-based political system (i.e., not California), Harris wouldn't have even been able to clear the first hurdle to high political office.
Are you talking about Mike luarsen comment? "There is plenty to criticize Harris about: her drug warrior history, mercilessness as a prosecutor, two-facedness, her poor showing in the Democratic presidential primary. But, no, let’s go with the most sexist criticism we can, and reinforce her favored excuse for her lack of appeal."?
I am just confused is all because I don't see this as defending her unless I missed something here
"Perhaps the worst-kept secret in Washington is that tons of Democrats are terrified of the prospect of Kamala Harris becoming the Democratic Party presidential nominee at some point in the future," writes Matthew Yglesias, Vox co-founder.
LOL
The only thing that can possibly stop Kamala Harris from winning the 2024 Presidential election is if Biden decides to serve a second term. In that case, she'll win the Presidency in 2028.
#LibertariansForHarris
OBL, did Harris come by your place last night to "poll" you?
LOL so the polls of her declining support are lies? As more people realize, that no only is she completely useless, she is proving her track record more than right. Not to mention when she ran for president she was.at the bottom of the totom poll. The only reason she was picked for VP is because it looks good not only because she bashed Biden hard for his racist past but because she makes a statement being a woman of color. Other than that she contributes absolutely nothing of benefit to the American people. So if her own party is worried that is saying a lot.
While 49 percent said they approved of her performance as vice president so far, this represents a drop of four percentage points.
When only half of Californians like a democrat who's from the state, seems like that might be a problem.
Newsom is down to 48%, in a state were 65% voted for Biden.
Mask Up! and get the mail-in recall ballots ready.
even my doctrinaire CNN democrat friends are sick of newsome and his mandates.
By voting for Biden, they revealed they aren't so much sick of them as want everyone in the country from their same conditions.
*want everyone in the country to suffer from their same conditions
FTFY
Maybe Calif will vote for someone newsome day to be governor.
The reaction that you hear from the Harrisverse to these worries…is mostly to accuse critics of sexism or to attribute her political problems to sexism...
Phew. Seems like her team is on it.
Charges of "sexism" is all the fans of Cacklin' Kamala have. They sure as shit can't point to any accomplishments of note.
Well, not any that are unrelated to willing sex(ism).
I disagree. She was very successful at intimidating and prosecuting parents of poor families who refused to send their children to reeducation camps... er..... public schools.
What is "racism", chopped liver?
...the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) once again said that some vaccinated people should wear masks inside.
Suspicions that the vaccines don't work: VERIFIED
Booster shots! says Pfizer. Ka-ching!
I'm a bit shocked nobody has sued over the requirement that you must pass COVID testing to enter the USA....unless you're an illegal crossing the Southern border.
Seems to be an exceptionally unequal enforcement of laws there.
Equity is not equality, got it?
CDC confirms vaccines not working:
Remember, with 74% of the people vaccinated and no clarity on whether this is a new strain of COVID or the same Alpha/wild-type variant, you can (ignore enormous pools of other mammal vectors and) be sure that the 26% of the unvaccinated are the likely origin of any new variants.
I think the CDC is jealous of Japan.
Senile Joe and his sociopathic protege will make you mask up for covid, keep your kids out of school and undereducated, inflate your money away, do nothing about crime, open the border to infected people with no vax and no court dates, collude with trillion dollar multinationals run by amoral billionaires, and then wonder why their numbers tanked. But the media and reason koch will squee all day long.
Vox's Ian Millhiser has a smart proposal.
Congress should increase the income tax rate on taxpayers who are unvaccinated, and who have no legitimate religious or medical reason to be unvaccinated, to 99 percent.
As we all know, although the Constitutional RIGHT TO PRIVACY is quite expansive, it does not cover the right to refuse a needle in your arm.
#LibertariansForMandatoryVaccination
Add AndTaxes to your hashtag
You don't want the hashtag to become so long it's ridiculous, do you?
Yes.
Should one percent appear too small,
be thankful we don't take it all....
I can’t believe a Democrat would suggest something so explicitly racist (seeing as how Black and Hispanic peoples are eschewing the vaccine at higher rates than white people). And since we all know Democrats can’t be racist, I’m forced to conclude that Ian is actually a Republican plant trying to besmirch President Biden.
I'm having trouble seeing why his argument doesn't apply to promiscuous and/or gay sex too.
I take it "I'm not likely to die from COVID." is not a valid medical reason?
How about "there is no FDA-approved vaccine against COVID"?
what is a 'legitimate' religious reason?
Suicide is murder?
We'll call it a penaltax.

"But that evidence is unpublished"
That is the same as non-existent.
They are lying again, substituting political science for medical science.
Yeah, YouTube has flagged people for misinformation for citing research that wasn't peer reviewed. This is still in someone's notebook somewhere.
Twitter says "cannot retrieve tweet at this time" when I click on a tweet that shows Australian news video announcing the army will be patrolling the streets of Sydney to enforce lockdown.
Anyone caught outdoors after the curfew will be forced to eat vegemite.
Time to find my "Men at Work" albums.
Cargo is a great album.
"That is the same as non-existent."
Not at ALL!! They just need to it "edit" it before allowing the plebes... er... "people" -- to read it.
It was rejected, not just unpublished. Some pressure was exerted afterward to have that changed it being reviewed.
Who or what is this "Kamala Harris" that is referenced every few months?
She's the one responsible for GuateKamala, the camps on our southern border. And with all those migrants jammed in together, she may become Cholera Harris soon.
+ LOVE the nomenclature!
I think it's like a Bloody Mary except you use clamato instead of tomato juice and bong resin instead of Worcestshire sauce.
LOL. That actually made me cringe!
Sexism in Politics Is Real.
No it isnt.
Only a chick would say that there's sexism in politics.
Golf clap.
Recycled Hillary bullshit. There's no possible way that she is an unlikable democrat who was forced down everyone's throat. It has to be sexism.
It's not that her political success and fame came from her proximity to a powerful politician she happened to be fucking (and now one who put her on the ticket to check the WOMAN and POC box) and on her own merits she is not well qualified or well liked, it has to be that she is a victim: the ultimate status for a leftist.
The democrats actually had a likable, honorable woman on the ticket in the past (Tulsi), and they did everything in their power to absolutely torpedo her presidential bid. Much of which was done by, women in the democratic party. They really are always their own worst enemies.
Playing the victim is not just a leftist habit. Trump fans regularly claim he is treated unfavorably because of the color of his skin.
Cite?
Mike is on a whataboutism tear with Trump lately to prove he isn't a leftist. Didn't he whine and cry about this type of behavior all last year?
Unlike the deplorables WK is a dependable.

Ha!
Constantly. But specifically, I’ve never heard anyone claim Trump is treated badly because he’s white.
Playing the victim may go on outside of the political left, but it is their holy grail. Victimhood is the ultimate virtue.
Its why intersectionality is their ultimate doctrine. It all comes down to how much of a victim you can be. They are very weak people. Which is why they want govt to make everything OK and to force their will on others. They need big daddy to take care of their problems. This is what happens when their entire psyche is based on weakness, victimhood, and being oppressed.
All true.
Also true: current-day Republicans play the victim — a lot.
Man, this is all you do now? Try to deflect to the GOP?
This is who you and much of the Reason staff endorsed.
https://twitter.com/BigFish3000/status/1420079833921490950
I wish I could play the victim. Maybe then I could get some sweet sweet welfare checks. Instead I had to keep working, while you stayed at home, shitting your breeches and hiding from the coof.
Everything Is So Terrible And Unfair!!!!! (tm)
Haha. Yeah, that’s leftism in six words.
The bigger question is why competent people put up with victim whiners. Is it to get laid?
And also Ill have to tell you the same I have had to reply to Tony, Jeff, and a few of the other state-loving lefties on here. I really could give 2 fucks about Trump. Your whataboutism arguments involving Trump are irrelevant. They would still be irrelevant if I was a huge Trump fan, but frankly I'm not. So you guys reflexively screaming "BUT TRUMP" is something that isn't going to get you anywhere.
I guess this kind of thing works in bubbles where you haven't encountered anyone who's world either revolves around loving trump or having full on TDS, but there are a lot of independents that didnt love trump and happen to hate the dems.
And I have to tell you all the people you just listed are libertarians, not lefties. Except maybe Tony.
except maybe, the guy who states what he is and isnt proudly.
How bold you are getting, diWhite Knightoxide
He listed 2 people....
You have a man crush on your lefty buddy Jeff don't you?
"And I have to tell you all the people you just listed are libertarians, not lefties. Except maybe Tony."
MAYBE Tony? Do you come here much? Tony is gung-ho on every socialist, govt-controlled, govt-regulated, collective-over-your-personal-freedoms policy that has ever been discussed. He thinks all money is the govts by default and that tax cuts "have to be paid for" rather than govt spending having to be paid for.
Saying maybe Tony is a leftist would be like saying maybe he is gay.
Mike Liarson is a squawking bird named Dee.
I’ve been arguing with Tony for about two decades, so yes I am very familiar with his politics.
You should be embarrassed by this little thread.
"And I have to tell you all the people you just listed are libertarians, not lefties. Except maybe Tony."
And someone needs to point out to you that lefty shits such as jeff CLAIM to be libertarian, but their posts prove otherwise.
Someone needs to explain this to you, since you are too fucking stupid to figure it out on your own.
There's a guy on Power Line posting as "Jeff", the arguments are the same but he identifies as a left wing prog.
Jeff shows up to argue against the right and for the left on almost any issue you can think of. Name me a recent time he came down on the side of liberty and not the standard leftist MSNBC talking points side. His arguments are almost always paraphrased versions of whatever is in the atlantic, wapo, or on CNN.
He may not wear the team uniform, but he sure shows up to go to bat for them every time they need him.
Arguing adamantly on the side of CRT is about the least libertarian thing one could do, its collectivist, anti-individual marxist propaganda.
Jeff shows up to argue against the right
and for the leftwhen they are behaving like complete morons, which is most of the time nowadays.there, FIFY
Arguing adamantly on the side of CRT is about the least libertarian thing one could do, its collectivist, anti-individual marxist propaganda.
That depends on how you define CRT, because right-wingers have so muddled the term, now it means basically any view on race and class and gender that they don't like, regardless of whether it formally is included in the term Critical Race Theory.
The right-wing view on race nowadays seems to be, "Racism against Blacks ended in 1965 with the Civil Rights Act, the only significant racism that exists today is against Whites in the form of affirmative action, and if Black people nowadays are struggling, it's their own individual fault, because there are no institutional or structural barriers standing in the way of any Black person anywhere getting ahead." And "CRT" now means "anyone who disagrees with the right-wing view".
So, I disagree with the right-wing view of race and class, I disagree with the more extreme elements of CRT, like the idea that laws ought to be deliberately discriminatory against Whites in order to "correct" for historical injustices, but mostly, I disagree with turning schools into indoctrination centers where only the "correct" views are the ones taught. When it comes to education, I completely disagree with the concept of "forbidden concepts". EVERY topic whatsoever should be on the agenda to be discussed in the classroom, in a professional, contextual, and age-appropriate manner. That includes ideas that you and I don't personally agree with. Because we don't want kids who only regurgitate the "approved ideas", we want kids who have strong critical thinking skills.
So, that is my view on "CRT". You all will continue to demagogue it to death to insist that anything outside the narrow right-wing viewpoint of race constitutes MARXIST CRT PROPAGANDA in a way to shame and silence everyone else into submission and I won't stand for it.
Jeff shows up to argue against the right and for the left most of the time.
there, FIFY, steaming pile of lefty shit.
The right-wing view on race nowadays seems to be, “Racism against Blacks ended in 1965 with the Civil Rights Act, the only significant racism that exists today is against Whites in the form of affirmative action, and if Black people nowadays are struggling, it’s their own individual fault, because there are no institutional or structural barriers standing in the way of any Black person anywhere getting ahead.” And “CRT” now means “anyone who disagrees with the right-wing view”.
chemtard radical deathfat simps for his lefty boos by erecting strawmen--such as his claim that the history of American's race relations were never taught in schools until the last few years.
The irony of this argument when it is the modern demcorat party espousing racial segregation in today's society. There is racism, it is pushed by CRT. Jeff defends CRT, the very entity pushing racism. He blames the right for not recognizing racism even though the right is actively against CRT. The idiocy is amazing.
Cholesterol is good for your memory. Cholesterol reducing drugs can have negative effects on the brain. (Your brain needs cholesterol to function).
So what is the strawman here? Why don't you inform me of what the prevailing right-wing viewpoint on race and class and gender is nowadays. Because I have polls which state that my version is pretty close to the truth.
See for example:
https://www.pewresearch.org/social-trends/2019/04/09/race-in-america-2019/?utm_source=link_newsv9&utm_campaign=item_312590&utm_medium=copy
84% of Republicans think that efforts to give Blacks equal rights have been "about right" or "have gone too far". They think Blacks aren't lacking when it comes to having their rights protected.
59% of Republicans believe that the legacy of slavery on Blacks today is very small.
77% of Republicans think that the biggest problem today when it comes to discrimination is "seeing discrimination where it does not exist".
Again they mostly think the problems of racism and discrimination, at least on a structural or official level, have been mostly solved. If Black people are struggling now, it's for reasons other than racism or discrimination. That's the prevailing right-wing viewpoint now, at least as far as I understand it.
But if you wish to correct me, go right ahead. Please provide your sources when you do.
So what is the strawman here?
It's right in the fucking part I quoted, fat boy. Is all that cholesterol affecting your short-term memory now, too?
Oh, you mean this claim?
such as his claim that the history of American’s race relations were never taught in schools until the last few years.
The claim I never made? Well yes that would be a strawman, if I had made the claim.
The claim I never made? Well yes that would be a strawman, if I had made the claim.
But you did--you said that the only history taught in classrooms until recently was MURICA! nationalism, and that's why CRT critics were wrong.
Your edits didn't dispute the comment you replied to, it reinforced it.
Lol.
Do you really want to say social outcomes that don't reflect your tribe's proportion in society is racism? You sure you want to go there? Where does it end? As an Italian American and Catholic I could start with Ivy league, academia, the media, investment banking, the Biden admin (and any democratic admin), and the entertainment industry to point out "my people" are underrepresented while another tribe is way overrepresented. But sure let's go there and see how this ends...the folks pushing social outcomes the most will be the most surprised when they are pointed out as being overepresented I bet..
Govt should not discriminate or pass laws that force discrimination..and that is it...no more in a free society...
He wears the team uniform, he just took a sharpie and wrote "Socialist Libertarian" over the pocket.
He spends more time arguing against the right than complaining about the left for the same reason I do. The commentariat became infested with Trump-loving, right-wing jerks during the Trump presidency.
There have been plenty of commenters here criticizing the left for the past four or five years. What is lacking is libertarians countering the echo chamber among conservative and conservative-leaning libertarians that the commentariat has become.
Cite?
Because for the last year you called Trump an existential threat while ignoring the open platforms pushed by Biden and the Democrats. You've even taken to attacking Ken almost daily for him recognizing the greater threat to the left than to the right.
In fact, the people you constantly defend here called everyone who disagreed with them in policy Trump Cultists for three years. This included yourself.
But I forgot... all you blue pills are perfect saints who never do anything wrong. And all victims to boot.
Please go on about fire extinguishers.
By the way, I don’t agree with chemjeff’s take on CRT, but I also respect that his take has intelligence and is presented civilly.
His responses aren't intelligent or civil.
Ignoring primary sourced material of actual presentations shown to students and claiming it is something it isn't isn't intelligent, it is straight up gaslighting.
You are also not civil, see your attacks on Ken the last few days, when you clones mine and others names, when you tried to get posters to leave for Quora, etc.

Shh, this undermines Ken’s narrative that extreme progressives, “the most horrible people on this planet”, call all the shots in the Democratic Party.
His takes reflect the same circular reasoning and strawmen that CRT/cultural Marxism's defenders indulge in.
You do understand that libertarians, conservatives, and Republicans espouse a common belief in individual liberty? That's the common ground that allows them to reach across the isle. In fairness, not all Republicans truly believe that or support it, but at least it is the party platform. You sir are none of those things and are a statist apologist, as are Tony and Jeff.
"Playing the victim is not just a leftist habit."
True. Playing the victim is the definition of critical theory, wherein society itself is defined as universal oppression. So not just a habit, but a formal field of study and political movement. (But--they tell us-- not an agenda for public schools.
Ha ha. That’s like a Dad Trump Joke.
And that excuses Kamala Harris's incompetence, corruption, and sexual misconduct... how?
Much like the racism in politics, it's real, but goes in the opposite direction than claimed by The Establishment.
Maybe it's her views and actions that are the issue, not her sex. She's just falling back on the "I'm a victim" setting that all Liberals do when things don't go their way.
It’s not just liberals. Conservatives whine all the time about being victims of liberalism, godlessness, the media, social network sites, and on and on.
What is it you and Jeff yelled the last year? Whataboutism. Are you sure you aren't doing what you yell at others about here?
White Mike's entire existence is whining, as it demonstrates here.
It's certainly not basic chemistry.
Never gets old, especially when he DEFENDED it.
I've refrained from using it, out of a sense of chivalry. But it has to come out every now and then.
He certainly doesn't deserve it.
Not like using it is equivalent to HO2-boarding.
WHATABOUTISM!!!!
Glad I wasn't the only one that noticed 🙂
Of course in presenting such whataboutism, he completely ignores that people to the right of Mao are continually harassed, maligned, assaulted, and victimized.
For fucks sake, it’s not been conservatives running around trying to shut down chick-fil-a, deplatforming people, or my personal favorite: all the progressives who would follow anyone connected to Trump or the GOP around to harass them at restaurants and what not all throughout 2017.
Or demonizing Hobby Lobby.
This is stupid. Who cares? The only thing that matters when it comes to politics is maximizing individual freedom. The Democrats have a long history of being completely opposed to that. The Republicans have a shitty track record but at least they're supposed to be the party of limited government. That's the fucking point you keep pretending not to understand you simp.
Well, and unlike Kamala Harris's whining, which is merely covering up her misconduct and incompetence, conservatives really are victims.
Youre more likely to die from lightning than covid if vaccinated. So everyone lock down and mask up.
https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/victoria-taft/2021/07/29/joe-sacrifices-military-readiness-and-freedom-over-stats-showing-vaxxed-people-are-more-likely-to-die-from-bee-sting-than-covid-n1465668
In short, people who have been vaccinated for COVID are more likely to die of:
Lightning Strike
Seasonal Flu
Bee [Wasp, Hornet] Sting
Dog Attack
Car Crash
Drowning
Sunstroke
Choking on Food
… and probably a bunch of other stuff than the latest strain of the COVID virus.
Murder, depending on the city
Our county is considering a curfew during certain times of days when wasps and bees are out. Since many people don't know if they are allergic it's better to be extra safe. They say if it saves just one life it's worth it.
They’ll receive a stinging endorsement from the Karens. One can never bee too safe.
And for god's sake, stay indoors if the forecast includes any chance of thunderstorms in your state this month.
Who cares? What I want to know is what are the odds that one of those filthy unvaccinated people are mutating a variant that will kill everyone, vaccinated or not?
I've been saying this here for a while now. Did the math during the children masking for summer camp thing and found out that the odds of a child getting severely ill were 500,000:1 which is, roughly, the odds of lightning strike in the US.
I've actually come to think the Delta surge is good, and should be allowed to go unabated as long as the hospitals aren't overwhelmed. (here's a clue, most places there's NO danger of that. Where I live 90% of elderly are vaccinated)
The reasoning is this: It will happen quickly. Half the country has immunity from vaccine and or previous illness, at least. Vaccines are freely available to anyone over 12. And, if you do get sick, the most likely outcome is the sniffles, more likely asymptomatic illness. As in so mild you wouldn't know if not tested.
So, it's a booster shot. Makes you MORE immune, maybe you get laid up for a couple of days like a bad cold if you're unlucky. The wave crashes, by September case counts plummit.
Unvaccinated? Well, that's your choice as well, and it's not my business. Now you have the option available to you. Delta may give you your antibodies the old fashioned way, but that's fine.
We are NOT in the position of zero natural immunity like 18 months ago, it's not epidemiological wildfire anymore. Herd immunity is good, and should be the goal, however it happens. So let the wave crash and get it over with.
We are NOT in the position of zero natural immunity like 18 months ago
18 mos. ago, the CFR was less than 1%. That means 99% of the population is naturally immune.
And before you give me the 'herd immunity applies to cases, not deaths' bullshit, see the rough math on the Provincetown outbreak above. If herd immunity meant jack shit and the vaccines actually are 95% effective, a 74% infection rate (and a CFR of 0!) among the vaccinated is, if not statistically impossible, at the very least completely destructive of all notions of herd immunity.
Even IF you think people will get sick when you let them out, there's no better time for that to happen than summer. This was also obvious last year, but there was an election to win.
Man uses accelerant and lights shop on fire. Man inside dies of smoke inhalation and burns. Happened during BLM riots. Prosecutor... no manslaughter.

Lee, thus far, has not been been charged directly with Stewart’s death; instead, prosecution “is going to push for a harsher sentence because the arson resulted in a death,” said a spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Tasha Zerna.
Totes different than taking selfies and putting feet on desks.
Burning a guy alive is much worse
Well, it was mostly peaceful arson.
You'd think they'd be eager to prosecute considering the guy that died was black.
That’s not how it works though.
Well yeah, after he was burned to a crisp. Before that he was an oppresser. Or something.
Yep, a fascist capitalist shop owner, who actively opposed shop lifting.
If the man inside was progressive and had overdosed, the arson would face three different types of murder/manslaughter charges.
Wait! What? The guy didn't have a license for a self defense fire extinguisher?
While Kamala Harrison's core problem may not be sexism and misogyny these do factor in and I believe act as force multipliers for people dislikes of a woman candidate. A male candidate with similar background and beliefs of VP Harrison would likely not face as much negativity. The problem for women candidates is not in the core of people who like them or the core of people who don't like them, but rather with those in the middle ground where dislike or distrust of a woman can cost you votes.
A male candidate with similar background and beliefs of VP Harrison would likely not face as much negativity.
A male who fucked his way into politics, and was promoted throughout their career through no conceivable talents other than their party affiliation and patronage of that party's most powerful family throughout his career wouldn't face the same level of negativity? Sorry, but this take has no credibility. It's just a recycled version of the old excuse that the only reason an incompetent woman is incompetent is because those evil males are holding her back.
Not to mention the male conspiracy that pays women 70 cents on the dollar for the same work.
I believe you just described Justin Trudeau - and notice he has in fact risen higher in politics than Kamala Harris. Well, until you do the conversion for Canadian, but still.
Justin's daddy Fidel must have been beaming with pride when his son took the seat.
His parents made a granite walkway at their cottage. Pierre dug up the sod and Margaret laid the Stones.
Exhibit A: https://reason.com/2021/07/30/sexism-in-politics-is-real-its-not-kamala-harris-main-problem/#comment-9020181
You know that actually did happen and is well documented right White Mike?
Mike, that she used to be Willie Brown's cock holster and it was how she got into politics isn't a rumor, innuendo, or even unknown information.
Ummm... even she used to admit it.
Mike is a steaming pile of lefty shit who lies nearly as often as turd, and like turd, is more than happy to ignore any facts which contradict his bullshit.
Again, though, her first public roles were appointments she received from a married man she was having an intimate relationship with. That’s documented. And that isn’t how most women get their roles in politics. Do you think there’s nothing unusual about Harris’s rise, Mike? If so, you might want to examine your own misogyny.
You really think Mike and chemjeff are going to do anything at this point other than carry water for the Democrats? The hilarious part is that they'll criticize black/white thinking the whole time they're complaining about Republicans and their pouncing.
That's really the whole reason they're going off on Ken exclusively now. Ken openly declared that the Republicans are better than the Democrats, and they can't have that kind of opposition being promoted.
I know the Kamala-Harris-only-has-a-career-because-she-sucked-Willie-Brown’s duck is a talking point that gets repeated a lot, but let’s check what he actually did for her:
After her career had already been going for four years: “In 1994, Speaker of the California Assembly Willie Brown, who was then dating Harris, appointed her to the state Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board and later to the California Medical Assistance Commission.”
Two obscure state board appointments.
And prior to that, what public role did she have?
An Alameda County district attorney for four years.
"Everything politicians do is public and above board"
-white Mike's gospel
State Boards that paid her 100k plus in the 90s for a part time job.
He also introduced her to the democratic machine and campaign donors to start her prosecution career.
Look, I know you have to defend everything negative about the left, but you're just digging here.

You're welcome.

"...and I believe act as force multipliers for people dislikes of a woman candidate."
You "believe." That is your bias because you want to be a good, socially conscious and sympathetic gentleman.
My problem with that? It focuses on a very small subset of the population and generalizes from it, as if it is a significant factor. It isn't.
You are somewhat right. As a woman, I dislike her more for not acknowledging that she only got the job because she is a woman. I understand that it is how politics works and many people have been given jobs for superficial things like what state they are from or many other things besides merit, but it annoys me more when women don't acknowledge it and then act like they have had a harder time at their job because they are female. The main reason women have a harder time at their jobs now and days is because they have to wear stupid high heels while doing it. And that is only because other women expect it of them and/or we want our legs to look better.
I'm personally in awe of women's ability to walk around in high heels.
I've not tried it, but wouldn't have much confidence in being able to do so.
It really isn't hard. It just takes practice and a willingness to have sore feet at the end of the day.
I do feel like I get more done on days I wear heels, but I really think it is just because they constantly remind me that I am supposed to be working and the sooner I get it all done the sooner I can take them off.
That or it's a self-fulfilled prophecy because I only wear them on days I feel like getting things done.
Today I have on sandals, hence, the excessive amount of time on Reason.
Ve-Ra I have to challenge you here. Certainly it is true that VP Harris' sex did play a part in here selection, but why should she have to admit that fact. I don't know that LBJ was every required to say the reason he was picked was because Kennedy needed Texas. Part of the problem with sexism and racism is that we want women and minorities to say they only got the job because of their sex or race. We don't require that of the white male who got the job because he had family or business connections.
By the way, I will take your point on the high heels, I am told that the open toe high heels are the worst.
LBJ never went around saying that he wasn't liked because he was from Texas. At least if I don't know of any statements he made statements to that effect. That is the difference.
The fact that she was chosen for her position over many other qualified candidates in part because of being a female and then bemoans that she is unliked and has a harder time accomplishing things because she is female is the problem.
*At least I don't know of any statements he made to that effect.
Sorry, I was interrupted mid-typing and then did a poor job editing when I returned to the comment.
LBJ was also a complete piece of shit
Maybe, just maybe, it’s her shitty policies that Democrat voters hated so much she didn’t get one primary win.
In short, you are an idiot.
Tell it to Sarah Palin.
She wasn't a *real* woman, since she was R.
I suspect that Sarah Palin experienced some of the same problems as Kamala Harris (note got it right this time). You should note that Sarah Palin was not quite ready for the job and her arm waving attempt to cover this fact were called out. The same is true for the former President but his unreadyness was allowed to slide. Sexism at play.
But Harris is? LOLGF.
Fuckin amazing, isn't it. I'm surprised Moderation4ever didn't blush when he typed that.
I would say that name recognition is VP Harrison’s biggest obstacle. At least among the Moderation4ever crowd.
Iswydt
Are you effing kidding? We almost expect women to use sex and sexual attraction for career advancement and blame the man when they do.
For men, using sex for career advancement is utterly embarrassing and will often result in charges of sexual misconduct and sexism.
(Oh, and incidentally, the name of our VP is Kamala Harris, not "Harrison".)
Biden is working getting congress to add immigration policy to budget reconciliation. Something disallowed by reconciliation rules.
https://justthenews.com/government/white-house/biden-backs-hill-democrats-plan-put-immigration-measure-35-trillion
They just need to add a juicy handout, like $100000 college tuition gift for every DACA recipient, to make it have a fiscal impact; then they can put it into the budget. Don't worry, they'll come up with something.
But, hey!:
"Harris releases strategy to tackle migration’s root causes"
[...]" Vice President Kamala Harris said Thursday that efforts to address root causes of migration from three Central American countries won't produce immediate results as she unveiled a broad strategy that expands on principles the Biden administration previously outlined.
Harris said the United States alone cannot tackle deep-seated motives for people to leave Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador, including corruption, violence and poverty. The governments of Mexico, Japan and South Korea, along with the United Nations, have committed to joining the push, she said without elaborating..."

She's got a plan to start planning maybe with some other important people to, uh, hope this disappears down the memory hole before everyone realizes shes a worthless piece of Willie Brown history
Her plan is to give central America tens of biipns of dollars abd magically fix it.
I thought her plan was to wreck the dollar, tank the American economy, and start governing like a Central American dictator so the refugees would lose interest in immigrating here.
That works, too.

"The reaction that you hear from the Harrisverse to these worries…is mostly to accuse critics of sexism or to attribute her political problems to sexism," notes Yglesias.
What, no race card? They must be holding that in reserve.
They wore it out for Obama, but I'm sure they've got a few more they just need to find
Back when she was (presumably) kinda hot she might have thought it was “empowering” to capitalize on men’s weaknesses to get ahead.
Now that nobody wants that nasty old ass no more she can flip it and play the victim card. Poor thing.
She's taking a page out of the playbook of Hollywood actresses.

New York Times article “What’s the Best Way to Protect Sex Workers? Depends on Whom You Ask” which opens with the line “TS Candii first traded sex at age 13.”
Goes on to discuss Trans activists support of 8 year kids stripping for money and being introduced to porn at a young age. In the past these actions were referred to as grooming.
Until reading this story if you'd asked me the question, "TS Candii, stripper name or infectious disease?" I probably would've gotten the wrong answer.
I would have guesses some kind of toxic fungus.
Instead, she should aim to win moderate swing voters by tailoring her public statements to appeal to an imagined 50-something white person without a college degree who lives in the suburbs of a mid-sized and decidedly unhip Midwestern city (like Grand Rapids, Michigan).
She, can't, even.
Hey I lived in Grand Rapids for a bit. It’s plenty hip!
Indeed. I was going to say, I think the folks in Grand Rapids would be pretty disappointed to hear that they are considered unhip by the likes of Damon Linker at The Week. I wonder if he's ever even been there.
Grand Rapids? It's got a fair amount going for it. It's an excellent beer city (Founders is from there). The metro area is Grand Rapids-Holland-Grand Haven, so it includes a bunch of really nice beach towns (Saugatuck is sometimes known as the midwestern Provincetown -- NTTAWWT). The metro area is now actually over 1M people and growing fairly rapidly.
Reason hero and former congressman Justin Amash represented much of the area (and don't forget Betsey DeVos). It's a region didn't go for Trump in the Republican primaries and that replaced Amash with Pete Meijer (scion of the entrepreneurial superstore family) -- yet another rare Republican Trump antagonist. The name 'Meijer' is not random -- the place is full of descendants of Dutch Reform immigrants (wholesome, serious, often blonde -- old school noblesse oblige Republicans allergic to Trump's New York self-promoting, all-about-me bombast). I'd suspect Linker of ignorance on this one but...wait...he's got a degree from Michigan State! Lol. Now if he wanted to talk about Lansing as being 'decidedly unhip', I'd have harder time disagreeing.
Yeah, liberals again reveal their biased ignorance if they think Grand Rapids is (1) unhip and (2) representative of "middle America". Maybe try a small non-college city in Nebraska or Tennessee.
Hell, coulda just went about an hour north to Cadillac.
"OK, fine, they say I have to appeal to you. Am I speaking slowly enough for you to understand, you clinger?"
As of Thursday, 882 people were tied to the Provincetown outbreak. Among those living in Massachusetts, 74% of them were fully immunized, yet officials said the vast majority were also reporting symptoms. Seven people were reported hospitalized."
Give us the stats on age, obesity, and deaths. Or youre helping the government fear monger.
Reason has been helping the government fear monger for 18 months
Some people suffer unbearably from reading mean tweets.
I’d say more like 5+ years.
Seems right. I took a five year hiatus from here and the articles have changed.
They are shifting back to focusing on cases because its the scariest thing they have.
Despite the fact that deaths are waaaaay down, and while cases are going back up somewhat, deaths are still very low.
Also the "cases with symptoms" is kind of the new "dying of (with) covid". It sounds bad, but really it could be some mild aches and a runny nose for it to officially count as covid with symptoms.
They are cherry picking data soooo hard right now to make it look as bad as possible. I really think they were worried about school going back and the fights between the lazy ass teachers unions and kids with no masks, so they needed a reason to make a universal indoor mandate to keep them covered. It is getting beyond mass psychosis.
It sounds bad, but really it could be some mild aches and a runny nose for it to officially count as covid with symptoms.
It also serves to blur the lines. For four days last week I had a 101 fever (I usually run ~96.5) with bodyaches. No congestion, no anosmia. I didn't go to the hospital or get tested. If I tested positive, "COVID with symptoms" even though what I had was not COVID (two of the broodlings caught it; fever, vomitting, cleared in 24 hrs. i.e. not COVID).
Yep. They have to get through the next couple months of falling numbers before the winter wave kicks off. (Last year hospitalizations peaked July 27, and now they are already much lower than last year)
884 infected, 7 hospitalized, zero deaths. Sometimes the media is fearmongering and sometimes the readers have no spine.
By stats I mean divide by the population of the city.
They choose when to use stats or numbers a lot to maximize fear.
An increase from 1 death to 2 would be an 100% increase in deaths!!! For the media.
You're trying to play a game with an opponent that you know to be cheating.
The CFR for these 884 people is 0. Dividing by the population of the city means not only is it infinitely less lethal than COVID, it's infinitely less lethal than getting struck by lightning!
On a related note: if herd immunity were a thing, presuming the vaccines are 95% effective, a 74% infection rate among the vaccinated should be a statistical impossibility. Moreover, a reduction/elimination of the CFR should be similarly improbable (nominally the people not vaccinated are at least as susceptible as they were before, if not moreso because they would be selectively unvaccinated because of health/immunity concerns).
I don't need any extrapolation to any other populations to tell me the hard medical science really has the consistency of a strong breeze.
Far left group that backed Bernie Sanders throws in the towel on big policy initiatives:
WASHINGTON (AP) — Stinging from the disappointment of Bernie Sanders’ loss in the 2016 Democratic presidential primary, supporters pumped millions into the powerful advocacy group Our Revolution to keep the progressive fight alive and prepare for another swing at the White House.
But after another defeat in 2020, the 79-year-old Vermont senator is unlikely to run for president a third time. And the organization centered on his fiery brand of politics is undergoing a rebranding.
Rather than insisting on “Medicare for All” — Sanders’ trademark universal, government-funded health care plan — or the climate-change-fighting Green New Deal, Our Revolution is focusing on the more modest alternatives endorsed by President Joe Biden. Those include expanding eligibility for the existing Medicare program and curtailing federal subsidies for fossil fuel companies. The group says it wants to make sure Biden keeps his promises on those and other top issues.
The shift reflects a progressive movement that is at a crossroads. Biden won the Democratic nomination last year by offering more centrist alternatives to much of Sanders’ agenda. Since then, progressive candidates have faced a series of electoral disappointments and are contending with anxiety from moderate Democrats worried that the party’s leftward shift could cost them control of Congress during next year’s midterm elections.

Shh, this undermines Ken’s narrative that extreme progressives, “the most horrible people on this planet”, call all the shots in the Democratic Party.
Gee, Mike, keep digging. Ask if you need a new shovel; it's amusing watching lefty assholes like you dig themselves a hole in the ground!
It doesn't do anything except show that you and SPB fall easily for narratives pushed by the media despite facts such as Schumer's comment from 2 days ago.
You're just proving you will fall for anything the left says.
A reminder that chemjeff and White Mike’s attacks on Ken are not motivated by what he’s actually written. It’s part of an effort to try and discredit him, because he’s a threat to their rhetoric.
Bullshit, you Alex Jones freak.
Ken has repeated lied - saying that Biden wanted Medicare For All and AOC's GND when he explicitly said he did not in the campaign.
I like how your entire being is gaslighting for the left. There is what they WANT and what they can execute with a slim majority. The fact that they want 6 Trillion in new spending and you are defending it because hey, it isn't 18 Trillion is quite frankly idiotic.
The fact that you are rushing to defend this spending in the presence of already high inflation states you aren't actually a libertarian but just another leftist gaslighting to protect Democrats.
Your rage at calling everyone who disagrees with you QAnon or Alex Jones followers is just further proof of those actions.
Please, keep calling the left centrists. It just makes you look stupid.
Wait, dildo claims to be libertarian?
Yes, part of the blue pilled leftists here.
"claims to be" =/= "is", particularly in the case of turd. He lies, it's what he does.
turd lies. Its what turd does. He always lies. If he uses number they are either outright lies or cherry-picked to be worthless.

turd lies; it’s what he does.
Yet his campaign websight specifically listed those as goals
Man, it must be hard reading a campaign website or the Democrat National Platform (both of which have been linked for you multiple times) when you’re an abject retard.
Could well be that, but it also seems motivated by a certain envy; add both of those IQs together and it won't equal Ken's, nor most of the rest of us here.
Here is Chuck Schumer's comments from 2 days ago:
“As Majority Leader, I have made it clear that I will not pass an infrastructure package that does not reduce carbon pollution at a scale commensurate with the climate crisis we face,” Mr. Schumer said at a press conference.
Listen, you QAnon moron, reduction of carbon pollution is not nearly the same as AOC's $98 trillion Green New Deal welfare filled monster.
We reduced SO2 pollution back in the 90s with a low cost bill signed by a GOP POTUS.
Of course you believe The Big Lie. You're hopeless.

Tell that to the pipeline workers, you batty party shill.
It's far more environmentally safer to ship oil by pipeline instead of rail, like it currently is. But DNC donors like Buffett and Steyer own those rail cars so fuck you pipeline and hundreds of thousands of jobs.
Wait, so you think unless it is EXACTLY as AOC wants it, she has no say in the development of spending, that she added nothing to the 3.5 Trillion infrastructure bill the DNC is just waiting to push?
Wow. You really are a leftist who will defend all sorts of nonsense to protect Biden and the left.
This is just pure gaslighting by a known Biden supporter.
Instead, we get Biden's $10 trillion corporate and union handout monster. And you pretend it's "moderate".
So they jobbed out in the interest of incrementalism, just like their role model?
When you double federal spending to 12 trillion dollars, even the socialists start to get on board.
OK, we can compromise on just a little rape (for now).
This is exactly the type of thing that happens with every new administration. The rest of the party lines up to follow the lead of the guy actually in charge.
We saw it with Bush - the limited government fiscal conservatives were thrown under the bus in favor of big-government compassionate conservatism and neoconservative war adventurism.
We saw it with Obama - the 'blue dog Democrats' were thrown under the bus in favor of big-government big-spending progressive initiatives.
We saw it with Trump - the 'Never-Trumpers' were thrown under the bus in favor of right-wing populism.
And now we see it with Biden - the 'Bernie Bros' are thrown under the bus in favor of milquetoast consensus center-left incrementalist liberalism.
That is why it was always a lie that Biden was going to be some puppet controlled by AOC and Bernie. It is the other way around.
Milquetoast? Lol.
Either complete, overwhelming stupidity or pure gaslighting, but either way: nonsense

You know, with these variants that don't respond well to the vaccine, it's almost as if this coronavirus is like the flu, that it persists by constantly mutating and any vaccines you come up with only last for a season at best. So what happens if we can't ever get rid of this virus? Masks and social distancing and lockdowns forever? I think so. Until enough people realize the light at the end of the tunnel we keep getting promised is just ahead is just an illusion.

It's been obvious for a long time that it is never going away and there is nothing we can do about it. We can probably reduce suffering and death, but that is about it.
That light at the end of the tunnel is the same one we saw all the time during the Viet Nam war; it is a lighted sign that says "no exit".
So what happens if we can’t ever get rid of this virus? Masks and social distancing and lockdowns forever? I think so.
All of these measures are in service to the dumb-headed thinking that we can get to a COVID-free state of being. It's almost like a coronavirus is a different type of pathogen from polio or smallpox, and that you can't do anything but mitigate symptoms if you catch it, or catch it and just get the immunity to that strain.
This thing has been in the wild too long now for a vaccine to work on it for any length of time, much less provide multi-year sterilizing immunity (which it doesn't).
A more conspiratorial thinker might come to the conclusion that they want to provoke a violent response in order to justify even greater draconian restrictions on personal privacy.
They don't need a violent response for that, all they need is people to keep taking it without being violent.
Win/win
This thing has been in the wild too long now for a vaccine to work on it for any length of time
Coronaviruses have been endemic to primates since before the first one climbed out of the trees and stood on two legs. Anybody with even a passing familiarity has known since the beginning that the vaccine is somewhere between band-aid and safety blanket.
Apparently Novovax is working on a vaccine, doing the normal clinical trial testing procedures, that shows some actual promise at providing some form of sterilizing immunity. Instead of using mRNA or a spike-less COVID virus wrapped in an adenovirus, like the current ones do, it uses a deactivated, dead spike protein made from tree bark that can't replicate or express on the cell's surface. Basically, it operates a lot more like a traditional vaccine, with far fewer instances of the side effects associated with the second mRNA shots in particular.
That's the other issue with it, though, because it can't be quickly produced in mass quantities in a week, it has to be incubated. So once it gets formally approved, it's not going to be a quick roll-out. However, because it employs the same methodology as more established vaccines, people who are hesitant about taking the current ones might be more inclined to take this version.
with far fewer instances of the side effects associated with the second mRNA shots in particular.
Again, we asked the kids if they wanted to/thought they should get vaccinated as the Pfizer/Moderna vaccine was (is) becoming available to them. They replied "I don't care as long as I don't have to wear a mask." Mrs. Casual took that to mean "Great, let's go get vaccinated." I talked her around to the point that the J&J vaccine uses more traditional technology, will likely be available later this summer and, since they don't go back to school and need to get vaccinated until August (and will potentially have to wear masks anyway), why rush/risk it? Every day that passes I'm more convinced we made the right decision and the kids, through no real active intervention on our part, are as well.
The spike protein is not actually made from tree bark. It is grown in an insect virus from moths. The protein is then extracted and purified. The soapbark extract is an adjuvant to amplify the immune response. So there is no genetic material or virus injected in the final product.
Results look very good.
I think we will need boosters at some point. I am team Pfizer but waiting to see how all of this pans out.

Sexism in Politics Is Real., she claimed without evidence.
She can't prove it but she knows it.
Like many of the cases she tried as a DA and Attorney General.
If it's so obvious than it's just a pure given, it seems like someone should have evidence and links right at their fingertips, right? How hard would it be to cite this obvious and apparent evidence.
We don't have to simply decree that certain things are true without ever examining them. Examining even our more basic assumptions can sometimes reveal shocking truths.
Sounds like something a woman would do.
A superficially credible accusation if I ever heard one.
Let's see. In almost 200 years, only 1 VP has transitioned immediately from VP to Pres by winning the election for Pres when the sitting President didn't run again. All of the others assumed the office after the President died for one reason or another or left in disgrace. The 1 was ol' 'Read My Lips' Bush who rode the coat tails of Reagan and ran against that loser DooKaKa. The Dims would have to be definitively stupid to run this lady.
“The Dims would have to be definitively stupid to run this lady.”
Yeah, but we’re taking about the political party that thought Hillary Clinton was an appealing candidate.
IT WAS HER TURN!
Hillary running had nothing to do with her political appeal. It was the crux of the deal made with Obama and the DNC that she would be the party's presumptive nominee in 2016, irrespective of whether he won re-election.
That was the whole point of the media signal-boosting Trump when he declared his candidacy--they and Hillary wanted him to run against her because they figured she'd beat him in a landslide.

Family sues prosecutor who charged son following unrest largely due to the two parties' races
"Franklin, who said he initially thought Gardner acted in self-defense, agreed with the grand jury and announced in September that Gardner was indicted on charges of manslaughter, attempted first-degree assault, terroristic threats, and use of a firearm in connection with a felony.
One week later, Gardner committed suicide."
Political prosecutions are acceptable at Reason. This story should be bigger. But it isnt. Reason doesn't want to highlight these political cases at all unless the victim is a minority.
"In other words, sexism in politics is real"
So fucking what.
Or is ENB bemoaning "bad" sexism, where people might vote against a person or policy represented by a woman, but not "good" sexism, where people will hold a bias in favor of a female candidate?
And besides political rhetoric (if there is anything left), anyone who uses a model of rational voters is as delusional as economists who use models of rational homo economicus. See Bryan Caplan and many others.
Thus voters and political discussions will always be more about emotion, bias, and deal-making, both public and insider. And given that psychologists have documented human preference for candidates who are simply taller or have better hair, sexism will never go away.
And given that psychologists have documented human preference for candidates who are simply taller or have better hair, sexism will never go away.
I figured one of the reasons Kamala became the VP candidate, besides being the clear preference of the DNC from the beginning, was that Robby-tier mane of hers would provide Sir Sniffs-A-Lot with the best endorphin source for his olefactory needs.
I thought the same. If we agree is it a conspiracy theory?
The Los Angeles Unified School District announced yesterday that all students, teachers, and staff doing in-person education must participate in weekly COVID-19 testing."
start with teh kids and in 10 years everyone will be used to getting tested weekly pandemic or not
I thought the public schools were opposed to standardized testing
"Behind the CDC mask guidance."
In the SF bay area, masks are ‘recommended’ if you are indoors.
The Chron (yesterday had page one graphs showing how serious this ‘surge’ is:
State ‘positivity rate” (percent of population testing positive: ~5.5% and falling!!!!!!
Hospitalizations: Bay Area, ~750 people, State wide, ~3,500!!!!
New cases: 15 per 100,000 people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOW ARE WE EVER GOING TO SURVIVE?!?!?!
Assholes…
Election year coming.
The left is freaking out today over a Fox graphic of D.C. that shows Covid Deaths (4) vs Homicide Deaths (11) over the last 2 weeks in response to D.C.s new mask mandates.
Gotta be careful about playing their game with the public health crisis.
"Sexism in Politics Is Real"
ENB cited no evidence for this lead headline (because it is false), and it was merely the rantings of a left wing wokey at Vox.
Reason has become just another click bait lefty website.
Sexism in Politics Is Real
This may sound crazy, but hear me out. What if - and remember I already told you it may sound crazy - but what if there are innate biological differences between men and women such that men and women tend to have different priorities in governance and what seems to be sexism is just a reflection of those different priorities? Perhaps, for example, men are more willing to take risks than women are and so value freedom more than safety? I wonder if any pollsters have ever divided respondents into "men" and "women" to see if there are any differences between the way men vote and the way women vote.
You want to get totally crazy? Let's imagine for a minute that sexism in politics is absolutely real and men are in no way responsible.
"A survey last week from Trafalgar Group found 63.6 percent of surveyed voters were not confident that Harris is ready to be president."
Oops.
Only 63.6?
The rest said "Who?"
Lol. I have no idea who she is, she "sounds" nice.
Many Democrats are now opposing mask mandates.
https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/st-louis-county-council-votes-5-2-to-rescind-mask-mandate-throwing-rule-into-limbo/article_adac2c7d-85b7-5f36-b270-cc861a1e5c52.html
It's been nuts here. The county executive and mayor of the City came out with this edict last Friday, to begin on Monday, and apparently without consulting either the Board of Aldermen or the County Council.
Well, there's a relatively new state law in MO that says that local executives can't do that unilaterally. They either need to get the approval of their local board / council, or there needs to be a state of emergency declared by the governor. Neither of those things have happened.
So on Tuesday, day 2 of the mask mandate, the council declared the mask mandate illegal. On Wednesday, the County Exec declared it back in effect. Meanwhile, the state AG is suing to block it as well. Several municipal police departments have stated their intention to not enforce any health orders.
Businesses around here don't really know what to do. Some are requiring masks, some are 'advising' masks, and some are not. You really don't know if you're going to be asked to mask up until you walk up to the door.
Oh, and now our acting county health director is making the rounds on all of the lefty 'news' shows (CNN, MSNBC, etc) claiming that the opposition to his public health is racism and stating that people hurled racial slurs at him during the county council meeting when they voted this measure down. He is also claiming that people physically assaulted him. There is zero evidence of this, actually. The council meeting was recorded on video, with audio. He had a police bodyguard. No one witnessed any of this.
BTW - They stopped updating this map in early May.
https://www.stltoday.com/online/map-covid-19-vaccinations-by-zip-code/html_bc2ce066-634c-5ff0-964f-69789ad30bbb.html
When the vaccines had been made available to everyone for a while at this point, a trend started to develop - all of those blue areas on the map, with high vaccination rates, are areas that are fairly conservative and lean heavily republican. The light areas with low vaccination rates are zip codes that lean heavily democrat.
I really feel like we are at a tipping point here, and I don't know which way it is going to tip.
On a small trip last weekend, people all over these blue states were just volunteering their complaints about how the government is dealing with COVID. Sitting in the Southwest boarding line; at the coffee shop counter; sitting next to the pool. These aren't activists, they are just people chatting as they manage their daily life. And these people- all of them- hated what the government is doing to our kids next year in school. Liberals, conservatives, all of them think that the government is insane.
The last time I had random people volunteering their political views like this was right before Trump beat Hillary Clinton.
The reason I don't know how this tipping point will go is that the government and media are far more organized in combatting this sentiment. People are angry, but they cannot talk about it online without risking getting censored. They cannot organize protests on facebook.
People are so frustrated right now with their inability to discuss this shit that they are voluntarily throwing major political hand grenades into polite conversation. If the government, big tech, and media continue to shut this down, then it is going to become much much worse.
If people are expressing their frustration openly in person, online discussion doesn’t matter. Online discussion is insignificant compared to face-to-face interaction.
Also, it is an exaggeration that one cannot be critical of government policy online. My Twitter feed is full of criticism of mask mandates and such. Often when right wingers complain they have been censored, it turns out they were going beyond criticism, such as making statements promoting violence.
How about when left-wing assholes such as you lie?
White Mike, pathetic boot licker and worthless clump of cancer cells
Well that's just a flat-out lie.
Do you really think that everyone is going to forget the millions of instances of censoring people who mentioned Hunters laptop, or questioned the election, or suggested Covid had a lab origin?
What a ridiculous fraud you are.
But remember when a few hundred Facebook posts from "Russians" handed the 2016 election to Trump?
But that was a really dumb assertion, wasn’t it?
What isn't a dumb assertion, however, is that nearly universal suppression of the Hunter Biden stories gave Biden a big boost.
So those Drs. in Florida that had that discussion about Covid that was kicked off Youtube were advocating violence?
Can you ever stop lying?
Alex B just got suspended for a week for posting Pfizer's own trial data.
Don’t know which way it’s gonna go?
They’ll start with bribing people with $100 to get the jab, (deplorable trailer trash is cheaply bought) and go from there.
After that they’ll really get tough.
You would know. Seeing as you’re deplorable trailer trash.
I’ll find you eventually.
I’ll look for the trailer or white trash home blaring the Sex Pistols.
Well clearly Mormons are the real problem and a tiny percentage don't live in trailer parks. And a handful of them are Barry Manilow fans. No one can explain this phenomenon but you may need to expand your search area. Godspeed to you sir.
'Nother a-hole flag
They’ll start with bribing people with $100 to get the jab, (deplorable trailer trash is cheaply bought) and go from there.
I posted this before but IL has a vaccine lottery. Something like 15 people have won a total of $1.5M. The kicker? To date, no one has disclosed that they got the vaccination and won. Not that I think they're actually killing people but it's eerily like every pulp sci-fi flick where the lottery isn't real. Get vaccinated and win a free trip to The Island! Look at the glorious life the previous winners of The Running Man vaccination competition are living!
We should take the delta variant seriously, but not panic...
WELL WHICH IS IT?
The Los Angeles Unified School District announced yesterday that all students, teachers, and staff doing in-person education must participate in weekly COVID-19 testing.
I FORGOT TO STUDY.
A common college student nightmare. Also showing up for the test naked.
It's OK, you'll get 24 more chances to make up for it.
I don't feel tardy.
Are you eligible to place the social pass race card?
Even woke PA Gov. Tom Wolf realizes that a new round of unscientific totalitarian mask mandates will give the GOP huge victories next year.
https://6abc.com/pennsylvania-governor-tom-wolf-mask-wearing-covid-19-cases-vaccines/10915117/
Left wing Democrats NJ Gov Phil Murphy, CT Gov Ned Lamont, WA Gov Jay Inslee, and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio also oppose new mask mandates.

Looks like Biden not only wants the GOP to retake the US House and Senate next year, and also wants more Republican Governors State Legislatures and local officials.
Whitless has also said she has no intentions of bringing back mask mandates.
I would love to think it was the commoners plotting to guillotine her that changed her mind, but I suspect it is just knowing it would torpedo her reelection.
Commoners? It was the FBI.
Amusing to think that she was weighing her options between losing reelection and getting whacked in an FBI psyop.
Isn't that just a tacit admission that the mask mandate "recommendations" last year were entirely political themselves? I mean, it's not like we didn't have a similar example from 100 years ago to show that masks and social distancing don't do shit to stop an airborne pathogen.
We also have 16 months of very recent data showing that mask mandates are more or less completely ineffective.
Based on India and the UK, we'll have to ride this out for about two months and then the case numbers will plummet back to the mean, irrespective of any public health declarations. A more competent and less pussified generation would probably understand that.
I stand behind my comment about Simone Biles the other day found here:
https://reason.com/2021/07/28/simone-biles-doesnt-exist-to-make-america-proud/#comment-9017840
That being said, there is a compelling explanation for the sudden onset of her symptoms that I haven't seen anyone here mention. Simone Biles has been taking Ritalin to treat ADHD for a very long time, but it is illegal to bring Ritalin into Japan to treat ADHD.
Ritalin is considered a performance enhancing substance by the Olympic authorities, but Biles was given a special exemption because of her ADHD. She's competed with it for years and years.
Ritalin is water soluble and is cleared from the body in less than 24 hours, and the symptoms Biles was describing might easily be explained by not being able to take Ritalin since she arrived in Japan. I imagine she wouldn't want to talk about that because it might make her detractors say that her past success was because of Ritalin rather than talent and hard work (which is unfair to say).
Per my comment in that other thread that I linked above, however, I maintain that nothing avoidable is unavoidable, and if she knew that she wouldn't be able to take Ritalin in Japan, she should have practiced without Ritalin in the U.S. weeks before she got on the plane. Again, the question isn't whether she did the right thing by not putting herself in danger and breaking her neck. The question is whether her choice to go to Japan hurt the team.
And do you know who's responsible for the choices we make?
P.S. No, Tony, the correct answer isn't a biased society, the government, or Dr. Fauci.
Ritalin is considered a performance enhancing substance by the Olympic authorities, but Biles was given a special exemption because of her ADHD. She’s competed with it for years and years.
I did not know that, hmmm... *rubs chin*
Girls with a ADHD diagnosis do exist, but it's pretty rare. Nowhere near as prevelant as with boys. And for someone 24 years old to be still taking medication for it is really unusual.
She must be a very rare case indeed.
ADHD GOAT?
I find it odd she is taking Ritalin if it isn't allowed because there are many other options unless all of them aren't allowed, but many adults still take medication for ADHD. It isn't something you just outgrow just something you learn to manage better, but if you've only ever managed with drugs it is hard to get off them while needing to perform.
Wow, Ken doubling down on being a dick. Proves he will write a wall of text on any topic, no matter his qualification to comment on said topic.
Whatever you say, jeffsarc sock.
A reminder that chemjeff and White Mike's attacks on Ken are not motivated by what he's actually written. It's part of an effort to try and discredit him, because he's a threat to their rhetoric.
"...Proves he will write a wall of text on any topic, no matter his qualification to comment on said topic."
From Mike (please no more than five words).
Just because I disagreed with his take doesn't mean you're any less of a useless piece of shit, Mikey-poo.
You know for someone who cries daily with sarcasmic about how you two are victims from all the trolls, you two sure do attack other posters more than almost anybody else.
What specifically do you disagree with Ken regarding his post?
Hey, it worked for Beth Harmon...
Biles came out yesterday with the exact mental issue that she was dealing with, and it is one that I know exists in gymnastics based on my dad being a gymnast and now my daughter. Her mind wasn't fully aware of her spatial orientation while tumbling, basically the gymnast version of the Yips. It causes them to be spatially unaware on high rotations. It can happen for many reasons. Very similar to vertigo.
Now that she came out with the reasons and explained it, I have no problem with the withdrawal from competition. It's a real thing.
The media should have been more honest with it up front.
I didn't read the Biles article but came to say similar. Whether to cut Ritalin in the weeks leading up to the competition or to take it up to the point of stepping off the plane is a tossup from the trainer's perspective. Weeks of poor practice right before or weeks of normal practice with days of poor practice... I'd suspect being a world class athlete, they've tried going cold turkey for a few days already and figured it was worth the chance.
Not her first rodeo.
Nobody has any business to criticize her. Her body and her brain. She competes for herself. Actually she competes against herself having accomplished feats at unmatched difficulty levels.
Gymnasts at that level do not last long. She is going back to competition now.
Yeah I was comparing it to the yips the other day. But the yips won't get you potentially seriously injured or killed.
You weren't really wrong, it's just that gymnastics is a more high-risk sport than golf or baseball.
That's interesting about the Ritalin. Of course, doesn't the IOC and a number of other major sports still consider cannabis a PED?
(Which, I wouldn't think it is, except maybe in skateboard / snowboard . . . )
Harris’ main problem is that she is a socialist, inept piece of garbage. Her gender is irrelevant to her positions and performance.
It is not enough to not be a sexist. We must be anti-sexist. Yes, sometimes that means admiring women you can't stand--regardless of their political positions, regardless of their contempt for you, and regardless of their lack of competence.
It is not enough to not be a sexist. We must be anti-sexist.
There have been several studies (I provide a cite above) that show that men are indifferent to female bosses where their female peers are less satisfied. Which documents the obvious case that, in order to avoid being sexist, you have to be non-sexist, in order to avoid being non-sexist, you have to be anti-sexist, and in order to be anti-sexist, you have to be sexist.
As has been frequently pointed out to ENB, it's not like men are alone or even the dominant voice advocating either the "I wish there were fewer women." or the "I wish more women were less willing to get naked." positions.
No, no, no, it's totally sexism's fault that she's perceived as a socialist and an inept piece of garbage.
Well, maybe the democratic party platform has a little bit to do with it - - - - -
I do not support a bill that costs $3.5 trillion...
From love to hate in such a short period of time.
I want the infrastructure bill to fail so badly, I'm worried I'm not being objective about it. I understand that it will probably get 5-10 Republican votes at least, but I hope they don't. The only (slim) chance we have of the $3.5 trillion reconciliation bill failing is if the infrastructure deal fails first. I want to see a brawl between the Sanders/Occasio-Cortez wing of the party and the Manchin/Tester wing of the Democratic party, and that's what happens if the infrastructure deal fails to win Republican support.
One of the things I keep telling myself is that, remember when H.R. 1 was such a foregone conclusion that Biden was making confident speeches for it, comparing January 6 unfavorably to the Civil War, etc? It seems like that passing was a foregone conclusion a couple of weeks ago--because it was just a couple of weeks ago.
H.R. 1 appears to be dead now. Biden's speech may have helped bury it. I know it could have been filibustered and the infrastructure deal can't be, but it does go to show that just because something seems like a foregone conclusion doesn't make it so. Those 17 Republicans who voted to proceed towards a vote won't necessarily vote for it, and time is not on the Democrats' side. If it isn't done by the August recess, it may go the way of the ObamaCare repeal.
3.5 trillion used to be the entire federal budget, for the entire year. Not that long ago either -- FY 2014.
So according to the stats, if you're an rich, old, college-educated, black woman woman from the West Coast there's a chance that you might actually like Kamala?
Golly, that description sounds familiar. Who's a rich, college-educated, black woman woman from the West Coast
I’ve heard a poll of former female AG’s of a certain west coast state think she’s the best VP ever.
I can’t remember which state.
So have you found me posting anti-Semitic yet?
asshole flag
flag for the asshole!
Whoa! Do you have someone like your wife to look after you to keep you away from sharp things?
You’re really going senile.
Or are you off the wagon?
You should call your sponsor and tell him you’re really losing your marbles.
asshole gets another!
Would you kill a Jewish Mormon?
A jewmon?
No such thing. Most Mormons hate Jews.
I never heard the k word as much as I did in Utah.
To be fair they hate most non Christians and non whites.
https://www.haaretz.com/jewish/how-some-jews-have-become-mormon-1.5407556
So they’re ethnically Jewish, but not religiously.
I’m not theological learner guy, but Mormons are violating the commandment to have no other gods but god. They worship their pervert “heavenly father,” pervert Jesus, and charlatan Joseph Smith. Who was also a pervert. They also put graven images of Moroni on their temples.
Are you LDS or something Gumby?
Nope.
Back to the question, would you kill an ethnically Jewish Mormon?
KAR would barf his guts up if he ran over a squirrel.
I really hate seeing animals hurt.
There a re at least a few folks here that could run over a squirrel and not give two shits.
Do you run over animals on purpose Gumby?
I try to avoid the small ones but will not ditch a vehicle in that attempt. I endeavor more to avoid hitting people, deer, moose and bears.
If avoiding a squirrel or little shit mammal causes damage to another person or property it’s best just to make it as painless as possible.
Alright I'm going to get to the question everybody wants answered but are too timid to ask. Would you kill an ethnically Jewish Mormon squirrel and if so would you attempt to minimize it's suffering?
Squirrels don’t have money or human children so why would the Mormons try and convert them.
A squirrel with a dreidel and yarmulke would be adorable!
Depends on the situation.
So the KillAll monicker is facetious.
Yup. Total pussy. All talk.
I explained to you yesterday it’s a joke Gumby.
Sex Pistols pussy:
I always enjoy a good ribbing from my South Park buddy!
Yes. It is a joke.
See Gumby gets it.
No such thing.
You never know when to stop. My best friend is a practicing Jew.
Another good friend is a convert from Judaism. A lawyer who practices in 3 states and is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He lives outside Portland. I can hook you up.
He is also a very good shot with a shotgun.
I said MOST Mormons. You’re a convert and not a Utahan, so you and your pals aren’t typical Mormons.
99% of Mormons I met were anti-Semitic, homophobic, racist far right bigots.
You know, being uncircumsized doesn't make them anti-Semitic. And beating you up for staring at their junk in the locker room shower doesn't make them homophobic. You might consider the effects that your anti-social yet attention whoring behavior has on those you encounter.
It was more of them saying things like “it’s very disrespectful to wear a hat inside” to someone wearing a yarmulke. Not at like a formal setting, but just casual places.
People talking about hitler and ovens around Jews.
I saw Mormons wearing baseball caps in the same setting and no one said anything to them.
Weird huh?
I have an aunt who is schizophrenic and your anecdotes sound remarkably like the kind of fantasy outrage porn she makes up.
I know that if anybody ever pulled that kind of BS on someone else in front of me, I would not let it go unanswered, I don't give a shit who or how many. If it did really happen, you should hate yourself as much as them.
I did speak up from time to time and was either ignored or insulted.
Keep telling yourself people in your church aren’t like this.
Keep up the holier than thou crap and suffering Christ like figure crap.
It’s those attitudes that confirm what I’ve known for year.
You Mormons will never realize what monsters you are.
That’s why you need to be exterminated.
*years
Not year
I did speak up from time to time and was either ignored or insulted.
Even in your bigoted fantasies you get nothing accomplished. If I had to guess, you are projecting sexual impotence.
Sure ignore me or say I’m lying.
Like many Mormons did when I voiced concerns.
You’re proving me right.
You’re proving me right.
You are proving yourself to be an impotent blowhard. As a person who actually stands up to racists and bigots like yourself, my stories don't end with me being ignored.
I have stood in church meetings in both Oregon and Utah and said that Brigham Young was wrong in his racism. Not once has anyone ever disagreed with me.
Considering that your anecdotes didn't take place in a church building and that only 50% of Utahns identify as Latter Day Saints, and many of those are not active members, I would say that you have less than half a chance of having made an accurate assessment of what you claim to have witnessed.
The ole half of Utah isn’t even Mormon.
Outside of SLC it’s well over 50%.
I don’t have to justify shit to a pervert worshipper like you.
I’m not going to try and convince you. Like all the Mormons I encountered youre set in your ways and will never consider that you may be wrong.
I’m wrong all the time, but not about this.
They’re terrible fucking Nazis.
The majority of politicians and anyone important is LDS in the state.
Where I worked and went to school I’d say well over 90% were Mormon.
Let’s not forget Mormons baptizing Holocaust victims and other dead Jews even after they were told to stop by several Jewish organizations.
Also many of them(not all) lie about being holocaust victims. They were never persecuted the way Jews or Jehovahs Witnesses were, but many claim they were. Their “poor suffering Christ like” act is just part of their manipulative BS.
They will baptize you when you expire. And you’ll spend the afterlife with them. Unless you try to kill Brigham Young, then they might kick you out.
Doesn’t bother me because their phony pervert baptisms don’t do squat. Their pervert “heavenly father” isn’t real.
If there is a hell Smith and Young are there and I won’t be so it doesn’t worry me.
It’s incredibly disrespectful and fuck them for doing it.
It’s incredibly disrespectful
[facepalm]
It is disrespectful.
When I’m dead I won’t care because they don’t do shit, but my family would be disrespected by it.
I
And you would never disrespect people by disparaging their religion?
Not even the Kama Sutra details a position for how you seriously you should go fuck yourself.
I wouldn’t disrespect another human’s religion. I respect everyone’s beliefs.
Mormons aren’t humans.
I’ll be fair.
That Karma Sutra line is good.
Who did you steal it from?
Who did you steal it from?
Your mom appeared to me in a vision...
Hahaha!
My mom hated Mormons too.
She didn’t want to kill them or anything, but she knew what scumbags they’re.
asshole flag X18; a new record!
Is that because some Mormon guy knocked her up and left her with…you?
Nope.
I am Jewish. Mormons are the last of my problems.
Utah has a small Jewish community and they are just fine.

Lol. KARen wouldn’t kill anyone. He’s a total pussy.
If you’re so sure about that let’s meet up and watch South Park buddy!
Don’t worry I wouldn’t kill a non Mormon. I abhor violence.
let’s meet up and watch South Park buddy!
"you're so high and mighty you couldn't look past my religion and just be my friend back. You've got a lot of growing up to do, buddy. Suck my balls."
Yes I know many Mormons like South Park because the ribbing was in good fun.
You can believe whatever nonsense you want.
I have a problem with forcing it on others.
"The reaction that you hear from the Harrisverse to these worries…is mostly to accuse critics of sexism or to attribute her political problems to sexism," notes Yglesias.
Victim culture promoters gotta victim.
Everything Is So Terrible And Unfair!!!!!!! (tm)
The Los Angeles Unified School District announced yesterday that all students, teachers, and staff doing in-person education must participate in weekly COVID-19 testing.
If this program is successful, they may consider expanding it to include weekly math, science, reading and writing testing. But probably not.

"The new CDC guidance and fears about the delta variant are driving some areas to bring back indoor mask mandates. In Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser announced Thursday that anyone over 2 years old must mask up indoors.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said "we're gonna provide further guidance at the beginning of next week," while Los Angeles County already reimposed an indoor mask mandate earlier this month."
Many years ago, conservative politicians and candidates learned they could motivate voters by inducing fear of crime, and offer promises to protect people. Now liberal politicians have developed the same strategy based on fear of COVID. I wonder if we have an election year coming up.
Did any of these polls ask the 43-45% that have a favorable view a follow up of wtf she’s done that they are favorable of?
"Because she's a woman"
IDK, I think that would be neck-and-neck with "Beat Trump".
"Leaked CDC slides on delta variant got you concerned?
I find the slides insightful & largely reassuring
Bottom line
Delta variant is a problem
Vaccines prevent vast majority of infections, transmission
And nearly all hospitalizations, deaths"
Try posting such seditious writing on FB and see if you get banned.
I agree with your assessment of the vaccines. However, I just entered “CDC mask mandates” in Facebook’s search bar and got lots of hits, including critical opinion pieces by Glenn Beck and Ben Shapiro.
They don't ban everyone so bans are okay. Go back to your White Knight moniker.
I recently had a positive interaction with a law enforcement officer. Guess all LEO interactions are like this.

How long until Dr. Jha is flagged for misinformation?
In other words, sexism in politics is real, but it's not Harris' core problem.
Being an amoral opportunist that can't read the room is her problem.
My disapproval of Harris stems from her being the spineless politician type.
It has nothing to do with her alleged vagina.
Nobody cares, derp shit.

"More polarizing"? Or perhaps just "less effective than a guy who can barely stand up for a half hour and read a teleprompter"?
"The right's new libertinism isn't libertarian," writes Bonnie Kristian.
In the replies to his tweet, debate raged over whether a porn star can be a conservative. And writing at The American Mind, Claremont Institute fellow Nate Hochman answered in the negative. He also found someone to blame for the corruption of the conservative movement that Love's presence at the conference represents: libertarians.
It was the libertarians who did it, Hochman said, the libertarians whose "inability to distinguish between liberty and license is endemic to today's conservative mainstream," whose "insidious libertarianism has captured the language and worldview of the modern right."
--If nothing else, libertarians serve to prove how ideological and partisan (and stupid) much of the current left and right have become. Casting blame on libertarians, and especially casting us in with the "other side", reveals that the caster either knows nothing about political philosophy, or does not care beyond promoting their party core and diminishing everyone else.
Your presidential candidate promoted racial marxism.
But the furor over Love is stupid and self defeating. It smells of deliberate sabotage by controlled faux opposition.
"My" candidate? Who do you think I voted for? (If I voted)
Jojo?
The "your" was general, not specific, and intended to reference "libertarians" (the "Libertarians" might be a better way of putting it)
There's a name for this general, not specific, reference to a group of people who share a common characteristic.
To me, this feels like Americans, on the one hand, concerned about giving the Chinese a way to collect data on American by tolerating a Chinese app like TikTok, even while Emperor Xi is running around trying to stop every Chinese tech company in sight from going public in the United States for fear that American investors and influence will diminish his own power to control them.
Yeah, on the one hand, we're infiltrating a party that has been dominated by warmongers and cultural conservatives in the past, but, on the other hand, the warmongers and cultural conservatives are screaming bloody murder about the progress we're making.
Part of this transformation in the GOP is a function of what the Democrats are doing. I keep pointing out that as the Democrats become increasingly authoritarian and socialist, libertarian capitalists should become more Republican to counter them, but there's a dynamic like that happening within the Republican party and outside of libertarian driven policy concerns, as well.
As a party in opposition, with control of nothing at the federal level, the Republicans need to define themselves in terms of being against whatever the Democrats are in favor of doing. And as the Democrats become more authoritarian and socialist, the Republicans--by simple virtue of opposing the Democrats--become increasingly libertarian and capitalist.
Some people are surprised to learn that Orwell was a committed socialist. It's easy to be mistaken for a capitalist when you're excoriating communism. If Orwell were a committed libertarian capitalist, he might have written Nineteen Eighty-Four the same way.
The Republican party isn't there yet. In fact, they're still in the early phase of the transformation, and they could fall back the other way. Still, warmongers like Liz Cheney and cultural conservatives are feeling like they don't own the place anymore like they used to. And we can listen to the cultural conservatives scream and cry about how it's their party and we're not welcome, but shouldn't we expect the Republican party to go through a phase like that as they transform?
I guess some old dinosaurs from the Republican establishment were hoping that when Trump left, the GOP would go back to being about abortion, invading foreign countries, intelligent design, fighting terrorism, and gay marriage again. These are the cries of people who are losing their grip on the party--if they haven't already lost it.
Ken is correct.
While the GOP has become more libertarian since Obama's victory in 2008, and especially since Trump's victory in 2016, the Democrat party has continued moving far left.
Had Trump legalized cannabis and/or reaffirmed women's right to abortion during the first 20 weeks of pregnancy (as he did decades ago), he'd have won in a landslide last year.
Would he?
What other incumbent presidents have increased their vote totals by 15-20% from their first election to their second?
Trump wasn't going to be allowed to win, even if it took 500 million total votes to do it.
^^^
Right to aborting an individual with a unique DNA is not a settled libertarian stance no matter what week it is in.
I don't think he was saying he would've been more libertarian. I think he's saying he would've attracted enough of the blue feminist vote to beat Biden. There's probably even a point to be made that him being more libertarian would've made him less popular.
It's possible to talk about these things in pragmatic terms without necessarily advocating them or opposing them, and it's possible that the GOP might perform better when they don't emphasize some of the culture war issues they used to be all about in the past--regardless of where you, O, or anyone else stands on those issues.
Trump's problem wasn't his policies... those were mainstream and popular. Trump's problem was relentless anti-Trump propaganda by corporate media and tech giants.
As for pot legalization or abortions, those are divisive enough issues that it's unclear they would have garnered him any net support. In fact, he would likely have lost many Republican voters and independents.
You're right on abortion, that's a 50/50 issue. Pot legalization has widespread bipartisan support and the primary opposition is law enforcement.
No goddamned way pot legalization would have cost more than it gained. Were the police union, in November 2020, really going to start endorsing democrats whole hog?
A slight majority of Republicans currently oppose marijuana legalization.
More importantly, though, proponents of drug legalization overpromise: it will likely result in more addicts and more deaths while not reducing crime. In addition, in practice, "legalization" means even more bureaucracy, more taxes, and more enforcement. So, it may poll well right now, but it may poll much worse once people see the actual consequences. Republicans don't want to own that.
(Personally, I still favor drug legalization, I just don't pretend that it accomplishes things it doesn't accomplish.)
What in the world are you talking about with this libertarian infiltration of the Republican Party nonsense?
Trump secured the nomination by pretending to be a cultural conservative, claiming to be a good Christian, posing for photos with Fallwell, Jr., promising to fight against abortion. Even at the end of his four years, running for re-election, he was posing with a Bible in his hand.
WITH A BIBLE!!?
How horrible...
...unless of course you're concern trolling and trying to make a point about Trump's lack of religious sincerity. If that's the case then THAT HYPOCRITE!!
White Mike thinks Fallwell Jr. is the Evangelical pope
A-hole!
Senile rummy thinks it’s me
Look everybody, it’s Mike Fartwell!
Neocons gotta neocon.
Yup the political divide in America cannot see beyond red and blue.
"Harris' history in politics is nothing if not a story about being willing to be whoever voters want her to be for a given moment. She's shape-shifted before, and she could do it again."
I always suspected she wasn't really "human." A genetically-modified caricature of one, perhaps. But not "real."
While CDC data have consistently found that blacks have a significantly lower covid vaccination rate than whites in America, left wing covid websites, left wing media propagandists and Democrats continue to focus solely on statewide vaccination rates (in order to criticize Republicans for not getting vaccines).
https://www.kff.org/coronavirus-covid-19/issue-brief/latest-data-on-covid-19-vaccinations-race-ethnicity/
Here in Allegheny County (Pittsburgh, PA), the weekly rate of new covid cases was similar among whites and blacks (i.e. 8/100,000 vs 10/100,000.
But now, the weekly rate among blacks has increased to 56/100,000, while the rate among whites has increased to just 25/100,000 (less than half of the increase among blacks).
https://tableau.alleghenycounty.us/t/PublicSite/views/RatesbyDemographics/RatesbyDemographics?:showAppBanner=false&:display_count=n&:showVizHome=n&:origin=viz_share_link&:isGuestRedirectFromVizportal=y&:embed=y
So of course, the left wing media propagandists have responded by blaming Red States and White Republicans for not getting vaccines, and for spreading covid.
It can't be sexism; there are no sexes.
The supreme court said so.
OK, unfair anti-intersectional genderism then.
BTW, it seems Pelosi's show-trial is getting all the traction that the Olympics are; near zero.
What happens if you give a show-trial and no one watches?
The subsequent executions are quiet, backroom affairs?
Well, let's just say that the entire lot of the protesters haven't been heard from since.
Since it's a show trial, the appropriate term would be '"executions"', right? Everyone gets taken out back, put up against the wall, and shot in the head with a nerf gun?
I'll tell you next November.
Sexism in Politics Is Real.
It is indeed. Take the constant baseless harping on "toxic masculinity" and "mansplaining".
In other words, sexism in politics is real
You keep saying that...
It's a
cookbookpromise!
As Linker notes, "so many Democrats from her faction of the party would view such efforts as a moral betrayal."
It would be a moral betrayal. And I don't know who this hack Damon Linker is, but he just recommended Harris "lie" to boost her poll numbers. Now, it's possible that with Harris, we're unpacking layers of lies, buried beneath lies, underneath lies.
Perhaps Harris really DOESN'T believe America is a racist country (her very existence suggests as much) but she tells lies that it is a racist country so she can appeal to those young, urban, highly
educated[credentialed] progressive activists, so maybe saying "America is a great country" (and leaving it at that) is what she really really believes. But still, at her current iteration, she's gone full CRT, so I guess maybe the takeaway here is that the left/media are realizing that wokeness is hurting them, all of this might be a good thing.
I should also add, that if she's most popular with her young, [credentialed] progressive activists, that tells you as much about them as it does her. Her professional and political record is the very antithesis of modern progressivism. So everyone in this situation is to be despised.
Not so much the antithesis of progressivism, but what modern progressivism claims to be
Haha. Yeah, between her and sleepy joe, they’ve locked up a lot o’ black dudes.
Progs starting to feel duped in 3, 2, 1……
Now, it’s possible that with Harris, we’re unpacking layers of lies, buried beneath lies, underneath lies.
You open your junk mail don't you?
I don't even open my email period. Do people still use that?
But still, at her current iteration, she’s gone full CRT
Well yes, because by "CRT" nowadays we mean "any viewpoint on race and gender that makes right-wingers sad and angry". So this is a true statement, but a bit of a tautology.
No, it's racial marxism and collectivistjeff is racist
Give me an example of a position on race and gender that you don't agree with, but you would also not classify as CRT. Go ahead.
Give me an example of a position on race and gender that you don’t agree with
ROFLMAO!
"Fetch me a tool that I might slay a straw man!"
"Uh, OK, here's a sickle."
"Fool! Not just any straw man! The indominable straw man that lives inside my head!"
"Then can't you just imagine him being killed by a sickle?"
"Fool! The indominable straw man in my head cannot be killed by imaginary conventional weapons!"
"Then can't you just imagine him being killed by an imaginary non-conventional weapon?"
"Fool! I'm incapable of imagining non-conventional weapons!"
"Really? I mean it's the modern era and we have all kinds of nuclear weapons, microwave emitters, gauss cannons, high-powered lasers. There are even movies and video games that reference things like pulse rifles and lightning guns."
"Fool! The straw man in my head cannot be slain by any weapon real or imagined!"
Knowing the outcome before even taking the first step, how about Phrenology? The inherent genetic superiority of the German people? Mexican is a race? I wouldn't presume to one up the straw man in your head but, I don't agree with any of these positions on race, don't consider those to be CRT, *and also* don't think they should be taught, as policy, in school.
Give me an example of a position on race and gender that you don’t agree with, but you would also not classify as CRT.
GENDER
The reason there's a perceived pay gap between "men" and "women" is largely due to different choices made between the sexes.
For instance, studies have been shown that single women, never married make as much or more as men in equivalent positions, where women married (and with children) make less due to voluntarily held back career choices, unwillingness to work long hours or move/travel for work.
In the Netherlands, considered to have some of the most progressive work laws enabling women (and men) to maximize choices, disparities between men and women actually increased due to said maximized choices.
RACE (disparate impact-- a legal doctrine much in vogue which states that any disparity in impact of a policy is due to racism. Often assumed without evidence).
Fact, poverty rates among blacks dropped from 87% in 1940 to 47% in 1960.
"If we wanted to be serious about the evidence [of long-lasting effects of racial subjugation] we might compare where blacks stood a hundred years after the end of slavery with where they stood after 30 years of the liberal welfare state" --
Thomas Sowell
Anyone who whines that CRT is just pointing out the obvious racism (because of "disparate impact") is either a eugenicist smuggling in a racist ideology under a banner of have been "awakened" to the invisible power grids (intersectionality) that affect our society, or at minimum, an ignorant dupe and a useful idiot.
I agree with you that the "gender pay gap" is largely not due to sexism. I read a study somewhere (can't remember where, sorry) that said that about 90+% of the pay gap can be explained by personal choices, not sexism.
However, two points.
1. Why are institutions set up so that this is the result? A left-winger might argue, "Well, the whole system was set up to favor men in the first place, so what appears like "personal choices" is actually a manifestation of men and women working within a system that's tilted towards men in the first place."
2. There is more to sexism than just pay gaps. Consider this:
https://www.pnas.org/content/109/41/16474.full
Because women are privileged to have the option of having children and the option of achieving high socioeconomic status through marriage; men generally do not have those options. Therefore, many women will choose children and/or marriage over careers.
Give me an example of a position on race and gender that you don’t agree with, but you would also not classify as CRT.
Gender:
Trans-activism is misogyny in drag.
Oh, see I agree that Trans-activism is, if not misogyny in drag, at least gender-confusion-derived misogyny. Still don't think those should be taught in school though.
Race:
Robin DiAngelo: All white progressives are racist.
I agree with that. 100%. Robin and I have more in common than I gave her credit for.
CRT is a poison that kills tolerance.
But that applies to every position on race and gender and class that you disagree with, right?
Hence my point. CRT means "any viewpoint on race and class and gender that makes right-wingers sad and angry". If it's not Right Wing Approved(tm), then it's Marxist Poison(tm). No other choice.
But that applies to every position on race and gender and class that you disagree with, right?
See above. Only in your head.
Of course a member of a racist church like you hates CRT.
Racists don’t like being called out on their racism.
I don't mind being called a racist in the least. Whether I'm racist or not, CRT is objectively bullshit that even the people who nominally *should* support it reject in droves.
I don’t know much about specific CRT curriculum to be honest.
The people opposing it seem to be the same folks who were pushing creationism or intelligent design.
Chuck’s people were down with creationism and against biology.
asshole just won't STFU.

I was worried I was going soft on principles, then jcw called me a fake libertarian. Now, I'm no longer worried.
Bye! Hope you're doing well!
Serious question: who makes a better sammich, VP Harris or ENB?
Considering what Harris has done to get ahead, I’m sure she’d make a sammie. ENB has no interest in pleasing men.
>>In other words, sexism in politics is real, but it's not Harris' core problem.
ho'd herself up the chain and everybody knows it. if your piece doesn't admit this in the first sentence there is a premise problem. and it *is* Harris' core problem because nobody will ever respect her now.

"Today’s Anniversary of Medicare & Medicaid reminds us to reflect on the critical role these programs have played to protect the healthcare of millions of families. To safeguard our future, we must reject Socialist healthcare schemes."
so, thesis confirmed - to Team Red, "socialist" is just a code word for "any economic idea that we don't like at the current moment" as well as "a scare word to drum up comparisons to Soviet Russia"
Watching collectivistjeff try to cope with his unworthy existence is just sad
She's the one you wanted in there to replace the 'treasonous' Liz Cheney. Maybe it's just me, but I don't think Liz Cheney would be confused about whether Medicare and Medicaid are socialist programs or not.
You mean the Liz Cheney that pimped a false intel report about Russian bounties as justification to block funding for an expedited withdrawal from Afghanistan? The same one who worked with cowering piece of shit Democrat Jason Crow to accomplish that?
Hey, I didn't vote for her either. Ask the Team Trump schlubs who thought it was a better idea to kick out the conservative who actually knew that Medicare was socialism, in favor of a Trump bootlicker who is confused on the matter.
You're right: Liz Cheney is not confused; she is smart, dishonest, manipulative, and corrupt, like her father.
Are you sure that’s not satire? Is she really that stupid?
I’d still hit it.

Count me among the indifferent. It also doesn't matter what I think, because I fully expect her to be the next president, and today's GOP seems intent on making that happen.
"Young and high educated..." yeah sure...I don't think kids with 100K in debt majoring in gender studies or "diversity" is very smart...more likely stupid and sitting in their parents basement on twitter all day and writing some bullshit marxist rant against real Americans...fuck them...stay in "urban" areas blow your boomer parents money as you try and "find yourself"...
Harris has no qualifications to be the chief executive of the United States. She is qualified to be a lawyer in California, and that is it. I sincerely doubt she could win an election on her own now that she has proved herself inept at administration, and to be basically a punitive person.
In 2020, male to female ratio for United States of America was 97.95 males per 100 females.
Male population 163,034,623 persons
Female population 166,449,500 persons
Women outnumber men in the United States. They hold the most political power. If women don't vote for a woman, it is not sexism, but POLICY!
VP Harris barely gained any votes during her own presidential campaign even though the media was writing glowing profiles of her. She then received fawning praise as the VP candidate. The fact that the American people don't seem to like her now is simply she hasn't proven to be a charismatic politician people like.
Progressive liberals and libertarian leaning conservatives aren't going to like her because as a DA she gleefully locked up everyone for drug offenses. Everyone else is likely judging her on her public persona and tendency to laugh at odd times and seem out of touch.
