Team Blue Should End Its Unhealthy Obsession With COVID-19 Panic Porn
Plus: Facebook bans a New York Post story, Derek Chauvin's trial moves to closing arguments, and more...

A month and a half ago, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) lifted all statewide COVID-19 restrictions, prompting widespread panic from many Democrats—including President Joe Biden—as well as unofficial members of Team Blue within the mainstream media and public health establishment. Liberals confidently predicted that the masks were coming off way too soon, and COVID-19 would swiftly make a comeback in the Lone Star State.
Well, nope: COVID-19 deaths and cases continue to fall in Texas, even without a mask mandate or capacity restrictions on businesses. The same is broadly true of Florida, which relaxed its restrictions all the way back in September and has managed to weather the pandemic more successfully than super locked down states like New York and California.
This is good news! It's more evidence that warmer weather does make it harder to spread COVID-19—in large part because the heat and sunshine allow people to socialize outdoors, where there is a significantly lower risk of transmission. It also shows that the vaccines are working. Fully vaccinated people are essentially immune from serious disease or death, and according to the latest data, they are very unlikely to carry or transmit COVID-19 at all. The message to the unvaccinated should be: Go get vaccinated. The message to the vaccinated should be: Rejoice! You can go back to normal life.
But the frustrating truth of the matter is that Team Blue doesn't want to hear this. Many people—predominantly liberals—who claim to Follow the Science and Trust the Experts no matter what are nevertheless captivated by pandemic panic porn. By asserting, for instance, that social distancing and masks should be mandatory even for the vaccinated, they bizarrely fixate on the minuscule risk of post-vaccination infection.
Fully vaxxed! #HousePfizer and I don't leave home without my mask, my undermask, and the will to make it fashion. Now let's beat this bastard covid-19, people!! ✊????????❤️ pic.twitter.com/et7iVZ1s6W

Masks have been an important tool in slowing the course of the pandemic. There's a strong case to be made that the unvaccinated should still wear them when they gather in large numbers in indoor spaces. But there's never been a particularly good reason to require masks outdoors, and that's doubly true for the vaccinated. Could a vaccinated person suffer a breakthrough infection, and then spread the disease during outdoor contact to an unvaccinated person who gets very sick or dies? Yes, it's theoretically possible, but we're starting to get into hit-by-lightning chances here. In no other context would we accept that this level of safety is insufficient.
On his show over the weekend, HBO's Bill Maher delivered a terrific monologue on the subject of COVID-19 paranoia among Team Blue. Maher referenced a fascinating December 2020 survey result from Gallup that found Democrats wildly overestimated the odds that someone who contracts the virus will need to be hospitalized. Some 41 percent of Democrats thought the hospitalization rate was higher than 50 percent—in reality, it's between 1 and 5 percent.
"If the right-wing media bubble has to own things like climate change denial, shouldn't liberal media have to answer for how did your audience wind up believing such a bunch of crap about COVID?" asked Maher.
Whenever I tweet that post-vaccination outdoor masking is unnecessary, I am inundated with hostile feedback from liberals who stridently assert that the performance is important because it sends the right message and puts other people at ease. Well, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) probably puts some people at ease, too—but it shouldn't, because removing our shoes and belts before we get on a plane doesn't make us any safer at all. The TSA is a massive waste of time, money, and energy, and the American people have put up with it for more than 20 years. If we don't want pandemic restrictions to become the new airport security, there needs to be pushback: Get vaccinated, and then get back to normal.
I don't want politics mixed in with my medical decisions. And when all of our news sources for Covid information have an agenda to spin us, you wind up with a badly misinformed population. #BreakingNews #ScaredStraight pic.twitter.com/xnPZOafziI

FREE MINDS
Facebook drew criticism for preventing users from sharing a New York Post story about a Black Lives Matter founder's considerable property holdings. The move was reminiscent of Twitter's move to suppress the Hunter Biden laptop story. According to the Post:
This decision is so arbitrary as to be laughable. Does Facebook know how many newspapers, magazines and Web sites highlight the real estate purchases of the rich and famous? The next time People magazine covers Kim Kardashian's latest mansion purchase, will it violate any community standards? How about running a picture of the resort Ted Cruz is staying at?
FREE MARKETS
The economy is picking up steam, according to The New York Times:
First-quarter earnings season picks up steam this week, with analysts expecting that profits for S&P 500 companies rose roughly 27 percent in the three months through March, compared with a year earlier when the pandemic sent corporate earnings into a tailspin.
Companies such as Coca-Cola, United Airlines, Netflix, AT&T and American Express all slated to issue results this week, offering a relatively well-rounded look at the state of corporate America in the early days of what could be a powerful year for the U.S. economy. It might also help set expectations for the stock market, after a big rally already this year.

And it ended up being worse for Texas than Brexit was for the Limeys.
Really? I didn't notice. We've just gone about our business, ignoring the rest of the country. That's all we can do, sometimes.
I think that was the point of his joke.

Did Gretchen Whitmer write this?

Predicted, hoped... either way.
Had zoom call with college friends this weekend. The ones in california expressed significant depression and fear on the topic if reengaging with people in the real world.
They all seemed hyperaware of current infection rates, regardless of vaccination.
A couple of them were indeed cautionary tales of long term neuropathy and mental fog from covid infection. It's definitely a scary thing, and it might explain the bias against responding to known risk calculations.
it might explain the bias against responding to known risk calculations.
Does it explain the bias against leaving the rest of us alone?
COVID panic has been the most successful media psyop since "Remember the Maine."
Clearly not native Californians. The cockroaches from the Lower 49 are the types to be scared
This is good news!
WRONG. It reinforces bad behavior.
Reason cannot even name the party in it's headline. They have to euphemise with "team blue."
Especially telling given other recent headlines that showed no difficulty ascribing the actions of some to an entire other party.
That's your criticism of Reason? Everyone knows who Team Blue is.
Yes, your team.
I'm registered independent. I almost always vote for Libertarians.
You shill for democrats because you live in a deep blue state so you can safely cosplay.
You literally said you would only criticize the left if you were given a reward, I can post your comment for you if you want.
“you live in a deep blue state”
You sure about that? You sure think you know a lot of things that you don’t actually know.
And asking for acknowledgment is not asking for a reward.
I would say that you are a sloppy think, JesseAz, but I know you do it intentionally. I ask you to acknowledge that I said something negative about the Left, and in your recap the next day you convert "acknowledge" into "reward".
Or maybe you really are a sloppy thinker. There is evidence of that.
What do you think an acknowledgement is? You are asking for something in return for doing something you should do freely if you disagree with something. Do you need a dictionary?

LOL, remember when I offered to say something bad about Biden, Harris, Clinton, whoever your want, on the condition you will henceforth acknowledge that I said it — and you wouldn’t agree to the deal.
Of course you do.
You are only consistently and reflexively leftist in comment sections.
Really? Cite one comment where I said something positive about the Left.
Why do you want cites from him but refused to do your own citation of your past below?
There is a paid troll here in the Reason comments (one of several fifty-centers) who uses the moniker "White Knight".
This troll's purpose is to try and deflect criticism of the Democratic Party and, to a lesser extent, Reason Magazine articles and writers who support the agenda of the Democratic Party.
In order to halt conversation, the trolls here use disruption techniques.
White Knight's favorite disruption technique is to demand a citation even for the most ordinary or obvious statements. Keep in mind that these requests aren't just reserved for controversial statements but often for matters of common knowledge (e.g. the formula for water is H2O). The purpose of this is twofold:
In the first, a commenter will waste time and energy hunting down a citation.
When such a citation is posted White Knight will then redefine the criteria and claim that the citation is worthless; or, if unequivocal, White Knight will ignore the response, and move elsewhere. Either way the purpose of disruption was served.
In the second, if the commenter ignores White Knight or refuses to play along, White Knight will then follow the commenter along, claiming at every post that they are dishonest and can't back up their statements. Here too, harassment and disruption are the purpose.
It is important for us all not to enable White Knight.
If you see White Knight making an inane citation request over an uncontroversial claim, please respond by posting "Fuck off, White Knight", or by pasting this warning.
He admits to being a troll twice in this thread.
And the other day he admitted he no longer argues with left wingers because everyone else already does.
“Troll” is your words. If I am a troll, you are, too. We both engage in a combination of serious conversation and bickering.
Well, I said “Tony”, not “left wingers”. Of course, Tony and maybe one or two others are the only left wingers that comment here.
Where do I sign up to get paid?

Red rocks is special, so try not to laugh at him. No matter how hilariously stupid he can be.
Where do you go to score meth in your trailer park?
What, you need a new location from the highway underpass, you hicklib faggot?
If everyone knows then all the more reason not to euphemise.
But my point was a lack of editorial consistency. I'm sure you avoiding that aspect was merely an oversight.
Had the other headlines used Team Red you might have had a valid point.
https://reason.com/2020/11/30/libertarians-have-no-home-in-either-dominant-political-party/
"To go by the post-election commentary, we libertarians are a powerful group holding sway over American politics and policy. Yet Team Blue and Team Red still enthusiastically embrace authoritarianism and scorn our insistence on letting people run their own lives."
https://reason.com/2020/09/13/the-nfl-is-back-so-is-the-national-anthem-controversy-and-now-there-are-two-anthems/
"If we have to filter that debate through the binary of choosing to stand or sit for a national anthem—or, for that matter, through the equally unsatisfactory binary of a Team Red versus Team Blue election—we'll never get much resolved."
Referring to the Republican and Democratic parties as "Team Red" and "Team Blue" is quite common, and widely understood. The terminology has been used elsewhere at Reason, as I just gave examples of.
You CACLLs come up with the silliest bitches about Reason.

It’s quite clever and her mommy is very proud.
Meh. I think you are too eager to find something to criticize them for. Team red/blue has long been a popular phrasing around here. To my mind, at least, calling them "Team Blue" is much better if you are mocking their ridiculousness than calling the party by its proper name.
I don't know, I thought using "team blue" gave it a nice snarky tone and emphasized how stupidly partisan this shit can be.
Exactly! It was in keeping with a long tradition of Reason snark.
THANK YOU ZEB! I was getting my ass kicked and I desperately need a friend... You will be my friend, right?
So true!
Hi, Tulpa!
There's a strong case to be made that the unvaccinated should still wear them when they gather in large numbers in indoor spaces.
What. About. Natural. Immunity.
Why have those who have gained immunity through infection been constantly erased from public discourse? Are we so unclean as to have lost personhood???
That is a good question. Why are they wasting vaccines on people who don't need them?
We have plenty of vaccine. But I do wonder why they keep insisting that we don't know if there is any lasting immunity from a) having the coof, or b) getting the vaccine.
Yes we do. What the actual fuck?
We have plenty of vaccine, the limiting factor is the number of people we have to administer it, so yes, vaccinating the previously infected is taking a vaccination away from the vaccination of the unprotected.
There is no limiting factor of vaccine 'administrators'. A nurse can deliver hundreds per day. We are now in vaccine hesitancy stage. Not at the individual level, yet, but at the county level. Those counties where there is a lot of vaccine hesitancy are, by choice, winding down their vaccine stuff. So those counties are the main places where those who do want the vaccine are going to find it more difficult to get the vaccine going forward - but not for the reason asserted.
The Chicom virus has been making its way through Earth's population for over a year and a half now. Are you going to tell me that a majority of the population hasn't already developed some kind of immunity? Face coverings do zilch and lock downs have only destroyed economies. This has never been about a dangerous virus, which has proven to be comparable in it's mortality rate to the flu. You keep arguing irrelevant semantics and make believe statistics. You are just another useful tool trying to confuse the issue and promote more government control. Fuck off slaver.
it amazes me how many people still hold on to that ignorance of what makes this different....... not so much that people that dumb tend to pepper what they say with racist things like "chicom virus."
the flu is already amongst us, and there is a level of distributed immunity. we did not have that for this virus. for this virus, nobody had any immunity.
eventually, this virus WILL be one of our seasonal infections, where some combination of existing distributed immunity and seasonal flu shots will keep it manageable. of course, that is primarily because of the depressingly high number of people who will refuse to get vaccinated. we could completely eradicate this thing, but we won't. unlike many strains of the flu, the source animal is not domesticated, so chances of repeat cross infections are much lower. if enough people got vaccinated, we could erase this virus before immunity faded.
i the next couple months, enough people will be vaccinated to make this "similar to the flu," and you will be free to go back to your blissful ignorance. people will continue to get this and die for centuries to come, but it won't overwhelm any hospitals anymore. then it will be what you think it was to begin with...... only a few million people had to die, and enough people had to get over their partisan BS to bother with a shot in the arm.
A new virus? If humans didn’t have some kind of immunity, like preexisting T-cell immunity, explain why so many people tested positive without exhibiting any symptoms whatsoever. A vast majority.
And if you say it has to do with PCR cycle thresholds, you’re going down another dubious path entirely.
there is just too much stupid in what you say to know where to start. are you seriously trying to say it isn't a new virus? STFU.
No more than 5% of those infected with this have been hospitalized.
5%.
Taking Budesonide within a week of becoming symptomatic would have cut that by another 90%. Fewer hospitalizations = fewer deaths. But the western powers had to have their WEF Great Reset, so down we go.
you still fail to understand..... 5% hospitalized becomes 5% dead, if you exceed the capacity of your healthcare systems. this is why the fatality rates are higher in countries with socialized medicine.
Tens of thousands die of the flu every year. Cutting hospitalizations by 90% could have saved hundreds of thousands of lives. And we never even got close to exceeding the capacity of our healthcare systems.
You decide what you're willing to live with--tens of thousands dead, which happens every year, or hundreds of thousands dead, which was entirely preventable.
We have plenty of vaccine, but only so many people to give them. Still need an appointment here.
i think the problem is trying to distill the variables into something simple. if you had a sever Covid infection.... you are probably good for a long while. if you were asymptomatic and only know because you were tested..... you can catch it again in a month or two.
it isn't that we don't know what the long term immunity is, it is that the long term immunity is determined by the reaction your body had to it. public officials like cookie cutter responses.... and there isn't one they can throw out based on the available data. ("tested positive" isn't enough detail to say, and they don't have the full antibody levels recorded for everyone who did test positive.)
It's not a waste for the vaccine producers or the people who administer them.
That's why.
The big problem is that there's an existing fallacy that "everyone should get vaccinated." Except, if you've already had the coof, it's pointless to get a vaccine because you already have antibodies. I wonder how many of the "hesitant" are simply, "Fuck it, I already had it, what's the point?"
Humans no longer have immune systems in the new normal. Vaccines are magical nanobots that will save us all.
"What. About. Natural. Immunity. Why have those who have gained immunity through infection been constantly erased from public discourse? Are we so unclean as to have lost personhood???"
A legitimate question. Since somewhere around 35% (or maybe more) of the folks you are likely to come into contact with are already immune through vaccinations or exposure, one should make the decision based on the particular circumstance.
The biggest outbreak in the last six months in our community came following a three-day karaoke contest held inside a small bar. About 100 people, mostly young and un-vaccinated, crowded indoors for several hours. There were thirty reported cases, and one eventual death, since one the infected worked at a skilled nursing center, and passed it on to a resident there.
But this is an extreme outlier. For most circumstances, I agree with you.
So in reality, the karaoke party caused zero deaths. The moron that works at a nursing home being irresponsible caused it. Just another example of focusing on everyone following these extreme measures, instead of the very few people who really need to be careful.
Exactly.
Six degrees of coronavirus is bullshit.
" Just another example of focusing on everyone following these extreme measures, instead of the very few people who really need to be careful."
Not disagreeing with you at all. My point was, and has been since the beginning of all this BS, that some common sense is the best medicine. The "mask forever" idiots use the same logic as most gun-controllers, who think that making my mother-in-law get a permit for her .25 auto is going to save lives.
"The “mask forever” idiots use the same logic as most gun-controllers"
Like Fauci..."When you see people getting killed, I mean, in this last month, it’s just been horrifying what’s happened. How can you say that’s not a public health issue?"
I agree it is a legitimate question - but merely because someone believes they were previously infected (always asymptomatically) doesn't mean they actually were infected. And a belief does not produce antibodies or immunity.
We really should have done more on getting serological/antibody tests out there. But we didn't. And those who believe they have some natural immunity are not the crowd that is interested in serological test.
Well, I am. I definitely want to get tested for immune reactions before I consider the vaccine. Vaccines are great, but if natural immunity can do the job, that seems preferable, particularly given the new technology being used.
We should have been using serological testing a lot more and PCR a lot less.
Bingo. If they have an antibody test that's trustworthy, I'd rather save myself the trouble of getting an experimental vaccine that was rushed on to the market in mere months.
Especially now that we know that taking budesonide within a week of becoming symptomatic can cut hospitalizations by up to 90%. Not hospitalized = not dead, which should really be the main goal at this point.
That’s fair enough. In my case, I did have an antibody test come back negative a couple months before getting vaccinated.
We should have been using serological testing a lot more and PCR a lot less.
These aren't interchangeable or substitutes.
I didn't say they were.
Yes! Natural immunity and serology are the things too few people are talking about.
Friend (not yet vaccinated) living with me (Pfizer vaccinated 20 days ago, booster scheduled tomorrow) started having a very wet cough 3 days ago, got nose swab Saturday, reported SARS-CoV2 + Sunday, also had fever Sunday, fatigue today. I ask how many doublings (rounds of replication) in his PCR, they don't know. You can't even easily find out your RNA titer, think you're going to have widespread knowledge of sera?
Friend (not yet vaccinated) living with me
Kinky...
I got it in November, didn’t get tested at the time because I had minor symptoms and was working outside by myself at the time anyway. I was able to get an antibody test at my grocery store early January for $25 and tested positive. Why should I get the vaccine?
That's my question, too. Especially since all vaccines actually do is simulate having been infected, it IS your immune system fighting off subsequent exposures in either case.
Yes, there is zer0 dialogue about T cell immunity because it doesn't fit the mainstream vaccine savior dogma. I am personally frustrated with Reason's approach to vaccines; there is plenty of science surrounding questions about safety, and huge freedom of speech red flags and propaganda red flags around labeling anyone "anti-vaxx" and shutting down rational discussion. See Ron Paul's interview with RFK Jr. Look at what happened to Dr. Sears. When will Reason stop reflexively spouting science dogma and look at the history and science? If they think it makes all their readers happy, they're mistaken. I've been reading since my teens (my parents subscribed) and I cannot read any medical information from Reason without gagging. Many libertarians are eco-conscious, environmentally tuned in, caring for our bodies, and medical indoctrination is not a libertarian concept.
...HBO's Bill Maher delivered a terrific monologue on the subject of COVID-19 paranoia among Team Blue.
Maher knows we're safely on the other side of the election.
Not Bill Maher's fault that the Republican Party put up a well-documented sociopath as their Presidential candidate in 2020.
Not a leftist though. Thats what you said.
Funny, I didn't say a word there in support of the Left.
When you only attack one side you are on the other side. If you were truly in the middle as you lie about, you would attack both sides. You don't.
You're a shill of the left.
The funny thing is that all those people you called Trump cultists last year actually have many posts on where they disagree with the right and disagree with Trump. You can't ever say one bad thing about Biden or the left without begging for some type of reward. Despite this, you called others cultists.
The hypocrisy is astounding.
"When you only attack one side you are on the other side."
JesseAz, it has been explained to you MANY times that this idea that you hold is not logical. Maybe you might want to look into learning more about set theory, Venn diagrams, logic, look up what "false dichotomy" means.
You keep making claims as if they are not brought about by your actions.
What are you trying to fight here. You've admitted you troll right wingers (based on your perception even when they've publicly disagreed with the right wing), you ask for rewards to do the same against the left.
Your actions are listed. To everyone else they see your blatant and acknowledged hypocrisy. Youre fighting reality here buddy.
"Maybe you might want to look into learning more about set theory, Venn diagrams, logic, look up what “false dichotomy” means"
Oh ho, this looks like good sport. White Knight is going to try and be clever.
Alright, I'm game.
Tell us White Knight, how are set theory, Venn diagrams and accusations of “false dichotomy” relevant to any post Jesse has made, and what the concepts mean.
I eagerly await your answer.
JesseAz is the major purveyor of false dichotomies in this commentariat. And also dishonest recaps of what other commenters have said.
"JesseAz is the major purveyor of false dichotomies
You still haven't answered what these "false dichotomies" are, and what makes them such.
I'm going to go out on a limb right now and guess that your pulling a sarcasmic, and using terminology that you've heard here, but don't quite understand.
Feel free to try and prove me wrong though. I look forward to it.
"all those people you called Trump cultists"
Really? *All* of them? loveconstitution1789, for example?
Even he criticized trump multiple times dummy. But yes. You've called nearly everyone you disagree with a cultist when they've criticized the fight. You have now criticized tepid one person on the left, the VP, but no actual policies.
By your inference youre a cultist.
One cite of loveconstitution1789 saying anything negative about Trump?
Look at the posts he made on January 6, before things became apparent.
3:05 pm is the earliest I see. Sure isn’t critical of Trump at all:

They're all well-documented sociopaths.
I'd agree that Kamala Harris is also a sociopath. I think of Joe Biden as more being well-intended but mediocre/an empty suit.
And you’re a dog faced pony soldier. And I say that with good intentions. Idiot.
LOL. Calling Joe's actions these years as well intended and mediocre is denying reality. You hate Trump, you called him authoritarian. He didn't come close at any point to what we've seen from Joe so far this year.
Love it! Unprompted, asking for no "reward", I said what I think of Biden and Harris. You still make sure to not only not acknowledge that I spoke negatively of them, but try to dismiss it.
You didnt criticize biden here dumbass. My God man.
Calling someone “mediocre/an empty suit” is absolutely a criticism.
Like calling Mussolini "overly passionate".
All.
“I wrote the damn crime bill!”
Seriously, are there two people alive today that are responsible for locking up more black folks than joe and kammy?
Well intended indeed! Haha.
So you've had a weekend to cool off. Are you still like mad at me?
Hope you had a good weekend buddy!
Haha. You’ve got the mentality of a demented teenager. You shouldn’t confuse mockery with anger.
You do know a lot about anger, though. Haha. Seriously, get help.
I'm starting to wonder if Maher is possibly risking getting fired again, or if he's had meetings with the higher-ups at HBO (who, based on their programming decisions seem to be hyper-"woke" leftists) to coordinate just how far outside the dogmatic box they're willing to tolerate him going. Or maybe that's why they pack his live audience with crowds that'll loudly express their displeasure with any deviation from the established limits of "non-problematic" rightthink.
"Planned Parenthood has apologized for founder Margaret Sanger's association with white supremacist groups and eugenics."
Ugh. I almost never say this, but I'm disappointed with PP.
I learned in college Margaret Sanger was probably the only prominent white historical figure who wasn't racist. She's just been unfairly smeared by the people who literally want to turn this country into The Handmaid's Tale by denying access to abortion care.
#StandWithSanger
/sarc?
New here?
Parody as an example of Poe's law.
What difference, at this point, does it make?
Wow, I didn’t know Team GOP was so woke. We should probably outlaw abortion now because 21st century faggots {I use the term affectionately, love} like you can apply your enlightened standards on people who lived in 1890.
Spiraling.
I probably feel the same way about statues to Margaret Sanger as I do about statues to Confederate generals. That is, if you are complaining about them you probably are an elitist asshole. Right, Ken?
Who combined about statues? You mean awards? The racism of Sanger has been pointed out to theft for decades at this point. She believed in eugenics. Actual racism, not pretend unconscious bias racism. The fact the left held on to her for so long demonstrates their hypocrisy. Them not returning their awards despite this knowledge further proves it.
Totally the same as destroying George Washington statues though. At least idiots think so. So good work.
How do you feel about paying mortgages?
Apologized? I wasn't aware that they'd ever even admitted this.
Masks have been an important tool in slowing the course of the pandemic.
No science to back this claim.
Exactly. They do ditsquat, nada, nothing.
Really, we don't have useful evidence that the masks the vast majority are using do nothing, but neither do we have it that they do anything. Everybody's going on hunch.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7680614/
Conclusion
The existing scientific evidences challenge the safety and efficacy of wearing facemask as preventive intervention for COVID-19. The data suggest that both medical and non-medical facemasks are ineffective to block human-to-human transmission of viral and infectious disease such SARS-CoV-2 and COVID-19, supporting against the usage of facemasks. Wearing facemasks has been demonstrated to have substantial adverse physiological and psychological effects. These include hypoxia, hypercapnia, shortness of breath, increased acidity and toxicity, activation of fear and stress response, rise in stress hormones, immunosuppression, fatigue, headaches, decline in cognitive performance, predisposition for viral and infectious illnesses, chronic stress, anxiety and depression. Long-term consequences of wearing facemask can cause health deterioration, developing and progression of chronic diseases and premature death. Governments, policy makers and health organizations should utilize prosper and scientific evidence-based approach with respect to wearing facemasks, when the latter is considered as preventive intervention for public health.
its very likely that reusing the same mask over and over lead to more infection than otherwise would have occurred. its also very likely that if no one wore mask the same number of people would have been infected and/or died. And maybe we should of allowed people to pass on so that teh strong would survive we don't need those with week imune systems.
But what about sharing masks? Poor families probably have to share the one mask that they struggled to buy (or loot).
Gross
it is very likely that (insert ludicrous BS pulled out of your ass).
Yep that is bullshit as masking and lock downs both depend on asymptomatic spread to justify their existence. We know that asymptomatic spread is way down in the noise at around 0.7%.
Yes, I noticed he didn't have any links in that sentence to back up the statement - unlike all the counter-points.

Some 41 percent of Democrats thought the hospitalization rate was higher than 50 percent...
If the party of science feels that's the number, what are your credentials to argue with them?
...in reality, it's between 1 and 5 percent.
Reality? WTF
And 97% of 'scientists' believe in anthropogenic global warming. Where did that number come from?
From a survey. They should survey them again now that they know how dishonest the survey takers were.
A poorly worded questionnaire sent out in the 90's to UK climatologists, journalists, weatherman and politicians, that was largely ignored. But of the few responses they got back, most agreed with the premise.
For modern American journalism this constitutes a proof.
Further backed by a social scientist who went through abstracts and arbitrarily tossed any he disagreed with to come up with the number that agreed climate was warming.
The government employs thousands of climate scientists now. You don't need a degree in any hard science to apply, just a degree and the proper attitude toward climate science.
No, not even that.
44 of 46 papers surbeyed- that had MMGW or MCCC in the title - agreed.
Someone's ass.
My morning coffee just caused my ass to contribute to room warming.
Wk needs a citation.
I can ask for my own citations when I want one, JesseAz.
I don't need to hear from R Mac at all, let alone hearing about what his ass is up to. He rarely contributes any comment of any substance to the commentariat discussions.
He rarely contributes any comment of any substance to the commentariat discussions.
Can we get a citation to where you have? I seem to remember you getting handed your ass handed to you last week about your weak arguments about natural rights.
I have not made "arguments" about natural rights. I made a casual observation that rights are not natural at all, despite 18th Century "natural rights" terminology; in fact, people have had to fight to get governments to concede rights. This shouldn't even be a controversial statement on my part, for anyone familiar at all with history.
Ken Shultz pounced upon my observation without bothering to understand what I was really saying. And, now, you are, too!
Dee doesn’t know what natural rights, OR arguments are.
WTF? You claimed to be misunderstood, and I responded to you directly. Ken was responding to me. Now you are making the same shitty argument that ignores a few hundred years worth of Western philosophy while claiming to be familiar with history. Are you stoned, or is pretending you didn't get pwned another gaslighting technique?
Let's recap what you wrote last week and my response:
So, you keep quoting my comment from a long time ago but did you ever stop to ask what I meant by the remark? All I meant is for most people throughout history nobody was going to give them rights — you have to fight for them.
1) February is not a long time ago. Which is also completely irrelevant unless your position has changed.
2) You posted that comment unsolicited and without explanation. Are you expecting this libertarian audience to believe that turd you dropped in the punchbowl is a misunderstanding?
3) ‘That’s not what I meant, you misunderstood’ is a fallacy. Specifically, the Motte and Bailey, which I know has been explained to you previously. That you continue to engage in a deceptive form of argumentation after being informed that it is illogical and dishonest points to a) a lack of intelligence, b) willful ignorance, or c) an intent to deceive. If there is another explanation, please feel free to enlighten us.
4) Because “you have to fight for them” is not a valid justification for the statement you made. After 250 years, I should not have to instruct a fellow citizen that the Constitution does not grant rights, it limits the government. Should a citizen standing before a judge have to justify freedom of speech, or is the judge required to recognize it even in the absence of the argument? Should a citizen have to prove they were defending themselves, or are they innocent until proven guilty? That these rights are natural (i.e., inalienable) is an axiom of the Constitution which was stated outright in the Declaration.
In conclusion, I disagree with you. What you claim was your actual meaning is even more specious, as the natural existence of a right is a predicate to fighting for it.
I question your motivations and your intelligence in posting such drivel in a libertarian forum.
You can’t disagree with her, because she wasn’t even making an argument!
That’s how fucking stupid she’s gotten.
Natural rights are worthless to discuss.
It should be. Jefferson claimed the truth of it was self-evident.
But the progressive argument against natural rights has a purpose that does need to be discussed. If rights are merely those permissions that a government can be forced to concede, then suddenly the right to healthcare, the right to an education and the right to be protected are all legitimately on the table if the populace
would just fight for them.
Your lack of a sense of humor is noted, again.
It is amazing to watch day in and day out.
Whenever I tweet that post-vaccination outdoor masking is unnecessary, I am inundated with hostile feedback from liberals who stridently assert that the performance is important because it sends the right message and puts other people at ease.
They're Harrison Bergeroning you, Roberto. You're so much prettier than they; you need to cover your face.
Robby plucked the mental handicap from his ear, snapped off his physical handicaps with marvelous delicacy. Last of all, he removed his mask.
He was blindingly beautiful.
“Now” said Robby, waving his hand, “shall I show the people the meaning of the word dance?
Music!” he commanded.
How I see the Chauvin trial.
A) the prosecution never argued intent or depraved mind. It didn't even argue gross indifference of life as they admitted that an EMT was called early and they put Floyd into a position he asked for.
B) The prosecution argued 3 different means of death. They started with a blood choke based on initial witnesses. They transitioned to lack of breath from knee on the neck during the next set. Then presented Dr. Tobin who said it was due to lack of lungs able to push oxygen to the heart last. 3 different means of death, and the last part by Dr. Tobin is ironic and contradictory (see later)
C) Prosecutions own witnesses said based on the call Chauvin could have escalated use of force and use his taser, he chose not to. They also stated Chauvin was actually trained to use the knee to the shoulder blade, but then inferred he did it for too long (not part of training).
D) EMTs were called early.
E) Floyd complained about not breathing before officers tried putting him in the car. He resisted arrest multiple times.
F) Dr. Tobin ludicrously claimed smoking, covid, drugs, and resisitinf arrest had no effect on Floyd’s heart.
G) Prosecution almost forced a mistrial (seemingly intentionally as the trial had gone badly) by presenting evidence in rebuttal to the defense that the judge explicitly said they could not do. The irony here is the evidence Dr. Tobin eventually used was about 98% oxygenation levels in Floyd’s blood at time of death... ironically countering his earlier testimony that Floyd was lacking oxygen in his blood om the way to the heart.
So what is the outcome? The judge refused sequestration initially. The jurors have seen the political anger. They watched riots over the weekend. They will come back witha charge, but not based on evidence. One based on fear. They will be aware the NYT was trying to dox them. They will want to avoid arson and riots that many of them live within where it is currently taking place. Whether it is manslaughter or murder 2 is up in the air. But ultimately the trial didn't matter. This is a political prosecution.
Likely the trial will go to appeal based on the actions of the prosecution on rebuttal. Riots all summer.
The jurors probably also heard Mad Maxine's threats, and the pig's head thrown into the yard of one of the defense witnesses. They know what will happen if they dare vote to acquit. Welcome to The Rule Of Law, progressive style.
Couldn't the defendant change his plea to guilty and then be secretly be spirited away under another name, with a stuffed shirt serving his jail sentence? Seriously, I wish in circumstances like this and many others that the general public could be fooled in a great conspiracy of the wise. I wish we could just fool everybody into thinking everything's fine, and then they'll shut up and leave everybody alone. Hell, I wish you could fool me into thinking everything's fine, and then I wouldn't bother with anything.
Kangaroo courts are vital now to demonstrate to you all how total the establishments power over you is, and that the law is now irrelevant.
Today it's grossly overcharging a thuggish dickhead for political reasons. Show trails for inSurrECtionistS are tomorrow.
None of that matters now that Princess Maxine has waved her scepter and declared "Off with his head". Her minions will be burning the businesses of innocent taxpayers. Maxine will be back in DC or her mansion, enjoying the show.
She asked for murder 1 charges over the weekend. So riot no matter what.
I expect to see "technical vehicles" making an appearance this week.
If there is a conviction just wait until the appeals court throws it all out and sends it back for a re-try.

Former President Donald Trump supports Biden's decision to bring back the rest of the troops from Afghanistan.
Well, yeah, he made that deal long ago. The only thing SleepyJoe decided was to delay it.
Trump is playing 4D chess. By praising the move, he guarantees that Biden won't follow through on it. Then we can all get our Lulz by noting the media luminaries who alternately wanted Trump to get out of Afghanistan, then to stay, then to leave, then he was guilty of genocide for negotiating a plan to leave, then Biden was a hero for ending the plan to leave, then Biden was the man of peace for finally (!) getting us out of Afghanistan....... and the final twist will be the best, when they again praise Biden as the savior of peace for extending war.
At some point it opens a hole in the space-time continuum.
Is it a good thing or a bad thing your storyline made sense?
Given the story arc of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, as well as the lines in the last episode about how America needs to stop believing in the false promise of a hero with blue eyes and blond hair (Captain America was the product of a racist society), it should be fairly clear to everybody that the whole point of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier is to create a new origin story for the new Captain America--about how and why the new Captain America is of African ancestry.
If and when we get a new Wonder Woman series, don't be surprised if she turns into a man.
The Amazons had feminine penises.
And don't expect Black Panther to become Caucasian.
"You think things are different? You think times are different? You think I wouldn't be dead in a day if you brought me out? You wanna believe jail was my fault because you got that white man's shield. They were worried my story might get out. So, they erased me. My history. But they've been doing that for 500 years. ( Chuckles ) Pledge allegiance to that, my brother. They will never let a Black man be Captain America. And even if they did, no self-respecting Black man would ever wanna be."

The Falcon will almost certainly become Captain America.
And what about the Asgardinans? Captain America was able to use Thor's hammer. What the fuck! Thor is a God and this mortal American punk comes along and picks up the hammer?!? I'm so confused and hurt.
He's done it in the comic books before too. The hammer is effectively weightless to anyone deemed worthy
It doesn't mean Cap can pick it up whenever he wants, just that in that moment he was worthy
I believe Beta Ray Bill is the only other character who is always worthy
That just meant that Captain America had the character and moral integrity necessary to rule Asgard. That's, presumably, why Thor was more or less willing to sometimes follow Steve Rogers' lead. Of course, if Captain America was inherently racist for being blond and blue-eyed and arising within the context of a racist American society, God only knows what Thor will become in the future. If fighting against and defeating Hitler wasn't enough to get Captain America off the hook, then Thor might as well be another Red Skull, right?
Vision could use it too, but what happened if you put it in an elevator or on an escalator?
But can the Falcon use Thor's hammer?
No he has a seperat but equal hammer
God, comic books are so gay. Except for Sgt Rock and anything with serial killers.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
Meh, as long as actor does a good job and the script isn't a woke lecture.
Did you read the text I quoted?
No self-respecting black man should want to be Captain America. He hides behind the white man's shield.
Elsewhere at the link:
Falcon: "But you were a Super Soldier like Steve. You could've been the next . . . "
Isaiah: "The next what?"
"Huh?"
"Blonde hair, blue eyes, stars and stripes? The entire world's been chasing that great white hope since he first got dosed with that serum."
Falcon: "Steve did not put you in jail."
----Ibidem
Steve didn't put him in jail. The racism of America did.
Since the beginning, the series has been obsessed with race, with Falcon getting hassled by the cops because of his race. Neither Falcon nor his family can get a bank loan, etc., etc.
It is a woke lecture. The whole thing is a woke lecture.
P.S. The Crucible wasn't really about the Salem witch trials.
I didn't see the 2nd post. Sounds like another Marvel movie/show I don't need to sit through. Thanks for the heads up to avoid it.
Also just remembered Marvel is Disney/Chinese trash now so I definitely won't be watching. I'm not a big comic book fan, mostly catch them on streaming channels after they release and since they will all be on Disney+ going forward, I'll never see them.
It is a woke lecture. The whole thing is a woke lecture.
I am not yet convinced. The thing with the bank loan was a setup. Ultimately, Sam and his sister don't need a loan. What they really needed was to do some real grassroots community organization. There are lots of people in America who are willing to participate in service projects and will give freely, but they do need to be asked. Nicely, and not shamed into it. The volunteers were notably diverse.
The thing with the police was a setup. They escalate in the confrontation with Sam, but ultimately they arrest Bucky.
The thing with Isaiah is nearly the exact same story arc as Cap. Going against the government to do the right thing and save his friend who had been written off and then being declared an outlaw. However, Isaiah's friend died and he was imprisoned for 40 years. Isaiah is like a WHAT IF - Stark had killed Bucky and Cap was sent to the Raft?
By the way, the difference between Cap and Isaiah? Forgiveness. T'chala forgave Cap and Bucky and gave them refuge. Without his forgiveness, things turn out the same. The arc is not repeated because a black man forgave white men.
I see a common thread through this whole show of judging a man based on the content of his character.
America was ready 50 years ago to accept a black Captain America. I will reference a comment I made a few weeks ago and say that the reverence and awe in which so many old, white men hold Walter Payton is all the proof that I need.
"America was ready 50 years ago to accept a black Captain America. I will reference a comment I made a few weeks ago and say that the reverence and awe in which so many old, white men hold Walter Payton is all the proof that I need."
Could a black man join the priesthood in your church 50 years ago? I know your klansman mormon ass doesn't think you're racist. You just want those "uppity blacks" to shut up and know there place.
You're a bigoted shitbags. Just like most mormons.
They are guardians of the Ark at Axum. Of course they can be priests in the RC Church
Chuck belongs to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They didn't allow blacks to join the priesthood 50 years ago.
I'm not a nerd so I have no fucking clue what "Ark of Axum" is.
NERD!
Haha. 50 years ago. Progtards love living in the past.

NERD!!!
The script is a woke lecture
They lost me with the backstory that banks wouldn't lend to people who blipped but were currently employed.
As if banks are going to refuse to do business with 1/2 the population?
Would have been far more believable, but less sympathetic, if they'd said "we know that boat. You've been losing money for 20 years and if we lend you that money, we'll be repossessing it in 3 years. None of us want that."
It would make some sense if bank regulations were causing the people who had returned to not be recognized as being legally alive.
That part did make sense to me. It wasn't the banks not lending to people who had 'blipped' but that all the criteria for who was/wasn't a good risk had been tightened (probably by headquarters since I'm sure banks consolidated even more in the chaos). The financial scene must be an absolute mess between people out of homes, trying to reclaim lost assets, corporations now having two people for every job, etc.
I think it was less that Sam had blipped and more that his position as a freelance government contractor didn't have enough history to show he could reliably earn the amount he was claiming. And, remember, before he was a contractor he was a wanted fugitive so...
I checked out of the MCU altogether after the first episode. I gave the Phase IV stuff a chance, but they're going down the same stupid woke road over managing a coherent, logical story-telling process and there's nothing there to hold my interest.
Wandavision had a fun premise but ended in an incoherent mess, and I couldn't take the illogic behind Sam and his sister being denied a bank loan due to the blip, when the fucking loan officer was mugging for selfies. Sam IS part of the elite and any bank they walked in to--ESPECIALLY one his family had worked with for decades--would have given them a loan on good faith all by itself.
Hell, they even threw shade at Tony Stark in the same scene by implying that the Avengers shit was paid for with charitable donations--despite the fact that Tony flat-out said he paid for everything in Age of Ultron, so it's a bit unrealistic to think that Pepper wouldn't continue funding the organization or, shit, even throw Sam a bonus so they wouldn't have to go to the bank in the first place.
NERD!!!
I may be a nerd, but at least I have a full T-cell count.
I don't have HIV or AIDS.
Why do you hate gays?
Did some gay guys in Denver make fun of you for being so uneducated and white trash?
We sure as hell wish you would get it though. And then die.
Maybe I'll get it from one of the girls I smash.
Heteros can get it too. Junkies.
This isn't the 80s.
You guys need to update your bigotry.
Have you tried hating jews?
Mormons LOVE Israel, but hate Jews.
No woman would ever give you the time of day, faggot.
Just because your ugly fat cunt wife doesn't give you any doesn't mean the rest of us have that problem.
I assume you live in the south(America's asshole) or some rural shithole.
Another reason to hate mormons.
I love Jews, but don't like Israel.
I don’t have HIV or AIDS.
"X" to Doubt
I don't care what a backwards bigot says.
You care enough to comment.
Only to let you know what a backwards hick you are.
Pussy ass traitor boy
Unmask your email and you can tell me in person, you hicklib faggot.
I couldn’t take the illogic behind Sam and his sister being denied a bank loan due to the blip, when the fucking loan officer was mugging for selfies.
Not stumping for the writers, but, again, maybe the bank officer denied the loan because he performed due diligence. In Episode 5, it is revealed the boat really is a POS. The bank guy actually showed integrity in denying a loan to satisfy a celebrity.
Sam wanted his sister to hold on to their parents legacy, but the boat was in disrepair because of Sam's absence. Lot's of small generational businesses fail because entitled kids don't contribute to the extent their parents did when establishing it. The notion that people don't need to be bailed out by government or a woke corporation when they apply themselves to the work at hand is a pretty damn good libertarian message.
I may change my mind after they wrap it up, but I am feeling the message that Captain America's real strength was always his integrity under duress and in the face of injustice. Just like Isaiah's rage is triggered by any mention of Steve Rogers, people who are triggered by the portrayal of an angry black man are missing the message that being triggered is the real problem.
MORMON NERD!
I would really love to have a dialogue about Falcon and the Winter Soldier, because I am curious at to why others are not seeing the indications that I am, that these writers are trying to move past the woke. The fact that they managed to get Walker's black sidekick who died 2 episodes after being introduced past the brass at Disney is nothing short of mind-blowing. That was definitely a poke at the woke.
I found the level of racial animus and/or woke feelz in Watchmen, Lovecraft Country, and Star Trek Discovery, to name a few, to be distracting to the point of making shows I might otherwise enjoy unwatchable. So I am actually surprised at my reaction to FatWS.
Unfortunately, we have a level 20 Unholy Shitlord lurking in the comments. A vicious, soul-draining homunculus, constantly dripping fecal matter down the leg of its pantaloons, leaving a fetid trail all over a thread and making it extremely unpleasant to revisit. It is extremely difficult to dismiss once summoned and cannot be killed with non-magical weapons. Picture Gollum, with more hair and less obsessiveness.
My nerd-cred is strong.
I haven't seen ep 5 yet (waiting to watch with my son) but the MCU does try to walk a thin line with the woke stuff - acknowledging it and giving voice to it without necessarily buying into the solutions it offers (e.g. Killmonger vs. T'challa).
People forget that Marvel has *always* been woke. Hell, their most popular franchise was a legit straight-up metaphor for civil rights.
I am absolutely loving the series and feel like they’ve done a decent job not pandering too much to the wokism. Are there plot holes and issues? Sure, every nerd show has them.
I haven't seen any MCU movies because I'm not a goddamn nerd.
I realize they're extremely popular, but I was never into comics because I am not a nerd.
NERD.
In all seriousness I was so disappointed that it wasn't you shot in Austin.
Marvel Comics last hurrah was The Secret Wars. After that I started playing Squad Leader. I hear Doc Oc married Wonder Woman
I think we can all admit that FDR and Truman’s governments would have absolutely done exactly what they described in that episode.
The line about “500 years” was some retarded woke bullshit, but I just rolled my eyes and continued to enjoy the show. The endgame will be Sam taking over the Captain America mantle, just like he did in the comics, because it turns out a self respecting black man CAN actually want that.
Facebook drew criticism for preventing users from sharing a New York Post story about a Black Lives Matter founder's considerable property holdings.
The proles don't need to count the milk and apples.
I almost fell over from shock reading the headline this morning. I thought ENB had gotten into the liquor cabinet over the weekend, and was trying to piss off hubby.
Then I realized Robby was doing the daily duty.
Thanks to the media, African Americans think police killing of black men is way worse than it is.

What town is that?
Mayberry.
Ha!
I will tell you, but you have to promise that you won't move here like everyone else.
My realtor buddy called me the other day to ask if I'd like to cash out of my current house. The price has doubled in the last 9 years. If we list the house at just under double and do zero improvements, a bidding war will ensue. I have a poster of Governor Gavin now, his policies are going to make us rich!
BLM and the rioting have been a good thing for us. Every time they destroy a city, our realtors and longtime homeowners are dancing in the streets. Thanks Maxine!
You think I would move somewhere because you live there? That’s weird. Don’t worry, I’m not moving anywhere anytime soon.
That's probably my biggest complaint with BLM as a broader movement. Get everyone obsessed with a problem that has been blown out of all proportion and ignore the many other problems that could be addressed to actually improve people's lives and prospects.
Because BLM doesn't actually exist to solve problems or improve people's lives, or they would be taking action on those other problems. BLM exists as a vehicle for socialism, by stoking civil unrest.
BLM also exists as a cash cow for Marxists like Khan-Cullors, so she can "take care of her family."
True. But there are a lot of people who think that it just means that black lives matter. But they become useful idiots for the abomination that is BLM the organization.
Like Dee.
As well as a front for DNC fundraising. Keep in mind, up until the riots kicked off, they were flat-fucking broke and could barely fund down-ballot races. Hillary had to bail them out with her Clinton Foundation bux four years earlier.
BLM raised hundreds of millions over the summer, and all of a sudden the DNC is flush with cash for the campaign season.

This happened last spring/summer as well...
Wrong spot. Meant for enb criticism below.
Both sides will present their closing arguments beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
How are local businesses affording the lumber to board up their windows? That's the real news story here.
Yes, the 400% increase in the price of a 2 x 4 is really helping the working man. Concrete decks !
Ever notice that no ever loots work boots?
Or Health Food Stores. During the riots last summer there was such an establishment that had boarded their shit up like they would be targeted. Wishful thinking...
You'd think enterprising looters would be ignoring the Nikes and stealing the plywood.
A verdict could prompt NBA teams to postpone their games.
This headline seems racist.
They will be too mentally anguished to dribble. Maxine promised them that Chauvin will be convicted of murder one. If it doesn't happen, how will they go on playing a game?
Didn't know or care that they are playing right now. Lebron James seems intent on destroying everything likable about the NBA before he retires.
It was painful to watch years ago so I stopped. Can't imagine it's improved since then.
They should cancel the season and the league just to punish us.

Former President Donald Trump supports Biden's decision to bring back the rest of the troops from Afghanistan
No one's bringing back anyone from anywhere.
Wasn't it Trump's decision anyway? Biden just isn't stopping it anymore.

If they can fuck us over this badly over a virus, just imagine what they could do when everything that might shorten one's life is considered inthe sphere of public health.
Enb should have posted this article last year but she has an unhealthy obsession with Twitter and Vox who pushed the fear.
It also shows that the vaccines are working.
This happened last spring/summer as well…
Is enb red pilled? She criticized Facebook without screaming private company.
It's Robby today.
Ahh. Makes way more sense now. Tend to skip the byline.
Better to use the byline to skip stories - - - - - - - -
Hello my name is reve kuck it has been 6 weeks since I last clicked a sullum article
Quick summary.
There are no defense rebuttals to prosecution arguments.
Media narrative good, independent analysis bad.
And thats why I don't even click. No need. Given that he can write 30 articles in a single day shows that research and independent thought are outside of his capabilities. If he did the leg work of robbie, similar to actually watching the 3 hour covington video, he would have an anurism
I wonder if ENB ever reads any of Robby’s articles and realizes how stupid they make her look.
That would require an iq and the ability to self reflect
It's more evidence that warmer weather does make it harder to spread COVID-19...It also shows that the vaccines are working.
Is there any chance what it shows is this disease followed a very predictable route through the population, picked off the particularly vulnerable (exacerbated by the policies of cretins like Cuomo, Whither and Newsom) and is now petering out through a combination of herd immunity (primarily people with natural resistance and those who got the disease and recovered but also people who needed the vaccine) and weather? That states which had the strictest policies just prolonged the misery and emboldened the totalitarians? Naah, stick with the government narratives. They have always been so forthcoming with the truth.
No, this is a special super duper disease. Don’t you remember the dogs, cats and zoo animals getting it too? The only salvation is by strapping an old tee shirt across your face,
It looks like it is finally spreading in India. They are pushing toward 300k new cases per day. So look for a new wave of scare stories about how evil Trump is and how not wearing a mask while taking your kids to a park is what is killing people in India.
Kinda wish Shreeka was still here so we could laugh at that exact article.
But...but...but...variants!

Remember that guy who got recently indicted for a Hillary meme? Maxine Waters committed at least four federal crimes by traveling to Minnesota with the intent to incite violence and intimidate jurors in an ongoing trial. Let’s see what happens.

Remind me... what was the response to the message on Melania's coat?
So hot
She looks like somebody's mom trying to be hip and edgy and overdoing it.
Yes, but if she had a 12 pack of Labatt's you would love her
Did you see her curtsy-thumbs down vote a few weeks back? I'm sure many commenters have imagined her naked doing that

The American people now expect that every incident presented as racialized by the media will end with riots and looting, encouraged by both the media and Democrats like Maxine Waters. Even moderate Democrats will, while condemning rioting and looting, treat the cause as just.
Members of the media will make excuses for their own abuse at the hands of rioters, because, after all, these people are correctly "angry." [Link]
Corporations will issue statements positing solidarity with the people who are looting their stores. Hollywood will produce content justifying the rage. Schools will shut down in preparation for the fully-expected insurrection. [Link]
What we are watching isn't an insurrection in the traditional sense -- it's not the violent overthrow of institutions. It is their capture and weaponization against the structures and ideas of the Declaration of Independence and Constitution of the United States.
I half suspect that Welchie Boy and some of his minions are probably in Minnesota with their bricks and balaclavas.
https://twitter.com/robbystarbuck/status/1383966944001347587?s=19
Not one Republican shot at anyone on January 6th and yet it’s treated as if it was worse than anything in history. The MN national guard was shot at during Democrat led lawlessness and it’s barely a news story. If you don’t think the media is rigged, you aren’t paying attention.
I didn't hear about this. Must not be newsworthy.
You'd think US soldiers getting shot at on American soil would be a bigger deal...
Local story.
Too local.
"Interior head Haaland revokes Trump-era orders on energy"
[...]
"Interior Secretary Deb Haaland has revoked a series of Trump administration orders that promoted fossil fuel development on public lands and waters..."
https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory/interior-head-haaland-revokes-trump-era-orders-energy-77121765
We really need more expensive fuel to aid in the recovery from Newsom-era idiocy.
But in order to revoke an executive order you have tk go through a lengthy legal process
"Planned Parenthood has apologized for founder Margaret Sanger's association with white supremacist groups and eugenics."
They're still enthusiastic about killing unborn children, but they don't want people to think they associate with racists.
Margaret Sanger has been officially cancelled, and that changes everything? Who else gets off that easy?
What about reparations for all the unborn children of African ancestry they killed before they apologized for Sanger's disgusting racism?
Well, they have branched out into human trafficking, at least in the body parts area.
Yeah, I don't get it. An organization whose primary mission was to get poor black women abortions, but apologizing clears the path for the mission to move forward?
The Democrats haven't changed their goals in the last 150 years, just their methods and rhetoric.
That is a ridiculous statement. There is no resemblance between the Democrats of today and 150 years ago.
It's true. Biden now has hair plugs.
Not just 150 years ago, DNC shill, but all points in between. Your party is the second most evil party in modern Western history.
Twitter once again shows the Streisand effect in action.
Robbie vs Olbermann.
https://mobile.twitter.com/KeithOlbermann/status/1384121185605087240
That's funny. Olberman may have hit the big time once upon a time... but he's no Robby Soave when it comes to covering a story.
But I did go to the link to see what the responses were... and Olberman has his finger on the pulse of the woke. They are all-in on supporting him in denouncing science deniers who think that vaccines mean you don't spread the disease you are vaccinated against.
I sometimes marvel at how someone could become so enraged everyday and not have a heart attack or a stroke.
Holy shit the replies. The West is doomed.
Take a deep breath, then remember that Twitter is just a tiny percentage of the population.
Although we’re still doomed.
But 100% of the media.
Jesus Christ, nothing is 100% effective. These fucking idiots seem to still think that there is any remote possibility of eradicating SARS-2. It's not going to happen. The only way forward is to acknowledge that the risk is now at levels that we have always accepted and get on with life.
I don't know if Keith is more ridiculously stupid and smug, or his Twitter followers.
Stupid and smug don't pair well, but they are so often found together.
It's not so much Team Blue, as it is Team Karen. Of course we all know that Team Karen heavily skews towards whatever party demands more micromanagement of our daily lives. But there are still plenty of Red Karens. We all know some. They just as bad as Blue Karens. They will all ask to speak to the manager, and demand Biden/Trump make people follow the rules because this isn't a democracy.
Bonus LOL in the Joy Reid tweet... she signs it as "pro democracy"!
Joy Reid is pro-democracy in the same way that Mao and Stalin were "pro food distribution".
Is that reference too much of a deep cut? I feel like everyone knows that Mao and Stalin made Hitler look like a piker by shipping food out of the region(s) and starving tens of millions of people to death (each!). But maybe they don't? Folks around here used to be smart. Back when there were folks and not just sock puppets....
Pol Pot, General. Don't forget Pol Pot.
(An amateur at only 1 or 2 million, but it was about 1/4 of the population)
Did you really try to both sides this? Lol.
Were you not alive in the 80s?
I was a kid, so maybe I forgot about a virus where everyone had to wear a mask? I doubt it though.
How many decades are we allowed to go back in time to false equivalence something?
Tipper Gore was such a Republican twat. Wait a second.....
No Brandy, it's Team Blue, aka Democrats.
You suck at deflection.
Climate Denial, Mask Denial - Holy crap Team Blue is stupid.
And in other news Texas has an arctic freeze out and three days ago it snowed in April. They've been peddling this retarded "Global Warming" B.S. for a half a century and yet winter still happens every gd year. Now they want to peddle the "Mask warming" joke for another 50-years??
"my mask and undermask"
Good lord! Undermask!?! LOL
How did we spew forth 100 comments and yet nobody has said a word about the undermask?
Let alone the “fashion” aspect.
It’s just baked into the cake at this point.
Gay
they are willing to pay for a mask and under mask but when it comes to contraceptives they don't know what to do?
Let alone procure an ID to display when they vote
LOL, but don't you dare call it a Face Diaper.

JUDGE CAHILL to Jury: “Defendant is not criminally liable if a superseding cause caused the death."
The jury had better not be paying close attention. Or the defense had better tank the closing argument. Because the prosecution witness testified that Chauvin was justified in his use of force for the entire time that Floyd was resisting... and he testified that he was resisting up until the moment that he died.
Hopefully the jury won't believe that prosecution witness. Otherwise Maxine Waters might have an "inciting riots" problem on her hands, given her team's setting of standards on such matters over the last couple of months.
You just fucking wait until they don't get the public execution they crave. It is going to be totes legit to burn shit down
The way Bill Maher pauses after each "punchline" and patiently waits for the audience to laugh makes me cringe every time
He was proud of that joke....
Plus, he was raised on 70's sitcoms. That's how they did things back then. Enter a room... pause for applause... deliver line... pause for laugh....
Pause for canned crowd applause (which has to be bizarre to film. )
"That's what she said."
[Pause for canned audience suggestive whistles and hoots]
They still do that. They just got it timed better how.
"Masks have been an important tool in slowing the course of the pandemic."
---------
No, no, no, no, no, no!
How you can print this with a straight face is beyond me. We have actual data from the actual real world, and it's convincing -- masks don't do shit.
Not entirely true.
"Cloth face coverings" always create a warm moist area in front of, and likely in contact with, the mouth and nose of the wearer. A warm moist environment is the ideal breeding ground for bacteria and germs of all descriptions.
I think the masks may have been a bit effective, in that people who are wearing masks don't touch their noses and mouths so often. Have you watched people, really, and see how often they have their fingers in their holes? And teenagers, ugh!
Buenos tardes, Rrrroberto.
Nice Roundup.
• Planned Parenthood has apologized for founder Margaret Sanger's association with white supremacist groups and eugenics.
You're kidding me. What the fuck does apologizing fix?
They could stop advancing her purpose for Planned Parenthood, limiting the growth of the undesirable population.
Team Blew should also stop its unhealthy obsession with categorizing people by their immutable characteristics, or it’s equally unhealthy obsession with centralizing power, or it’s equally unhealthy obsession with the words people use, etc, etc, etc. How do you choose?
Someone should do a real deep dive on why the left is obsessed with keeping people locked down.
Because they are a bunch of miserable fucks and misery loves company
I for one would be perfectly happy if progtards choose to never leave their homes and continue to mask their faces when they do
>>Team Blue
we're not in 2d grade. it's (D)
What evidence is there that masks have worked? Between the recent studies showing Covid-19 is almost purely an aerosol and the various mask studies that show them useless against aerosols and having little benefit, I'm confused as to where Robby "Evidence" Soave is getting his info from. The only evidence in support of masks is that "experts" say they work because, well, God Wills It.
At first they told us not to mask, because supposedly the WHO said that they didn’t work except for N95s that were to be reserved for health workers. Then a study out of Taiwan showed that simple cloth masks were effective against COVID-most other studies suggest that masks at best offer modest protection, while other things such as genetics, blood type, age, and obesity are much more important. I have heard of several people who supposedly did everything right (wore a mask all the time, didn’t go out) and still got it. So the masks are little more than virtue signaling faith in science and experts
And they do harm for all sorts of reasons, including giving more vulnerable people a false sense of security when they go out.
Back in February 2020, Fauci flat-out said that there was little to worry about from a coof outbreak, and that all we needed to do was wash our hands. Probably what led to all the "Hug A Chinaman To Show You're Not Racist" signaling during Chinese New Year.
Within a month, he morphed into the nation's worst doomer.
Oh, by they way, here's a little story NO one seems to be talking about:
One might conclude that instead of locking people down, people should have been encouraged to get out of the house and congregate outdoors.
Oh, and the Journal of Infectious Diseases published this study in February.
Not a doctor!!!!! MECHANICAL ENGINNER. This would be like taking medical advice from me. So wrong.
Most doctors are retarded. Granted as an Rf engineer I also know most mechanical engineers are retarded too, so it's a wash when it comes to taking advice from eigjter
No shit. Do you work with Zigbee and LoRa?
I had hoped that Joy Reid wouldn't make it back here in some reason editors writeup, but instead we get not only her brain dead observations but in a tweet as well.
That dumb bitch is still wearing two masks despite admitting to getting both shots, because she sees them as a fashion accessory like her weaves or oversize fake fingernails.
Meanwhile she probably hasn't had her shrubbery pruned in who knows how long
Is that some sort of euphemism? I thought we weren't doing that any more!
I've seen people wearing masks outdoors and even driving alone in a car but was "outdoor masking" ever really necessary ?
Well, putting aside the question of whether masking is ever particularly necessary or effective, I guess maybe on a calm day in a large crowd.
Define necessary. If it stops just one case...

You should keep wearing masks outside post-vaccination because a lot of ppl have a hard time admitting they were wrong about this and we don't want to make them feel bad, this is more important than science and health because if someone's feelings get covid you won't even know.
I'm very concerned about the feelings of the ppl who were wrong all along and sent threatening notes to my home, called for CPS to take my kids, etc.
"The message to the unvaccinated should be: Go get vaccinated. The message to the vaccinated should be: Rejoice! You can go back to normal life."
Nonsense on both counts. The message should be
"If you are unvaccinated, have not had covid, and have risk factors that makes covid a serious threat you should get vaccinated."
There is no way in hell it makes sense for a teenager to get vaccinated unless they have some weird risk factors.
On the second part the unvaccinated can get back to normal life any time they please unless the government has made it illegal. We all take the risks that make sense. Given for most people the risk of covid is minimal there is no reason to hide yourself in a cave vaccinated or not.

The prosecution is arguing the cops should have not arrested Floyd? They should have not put him in the squad SUV?
By what logic should a cop walk a suspect in cuffs to a station instead of driving them?
I'm confused by this argument
Is the reason you won't answer if you've been called a house n word or uncle Tom because you're called them all the time?
Do you have any black friends?
You live in Jacksonville right? Are you a jags fan? That must suck.
Or are you like your fellow fascists red rocks and mother's lament and not like sports?
Maybe he's not a racist, so unlike you (who is a racist, just to be clear), he doesn't believe his race defines him one way or the other. Therefore answering your question would just make it seem like he buys into a construct which only racists like yourself use.
Apple is bringing Parler back to its app store.
https://www.businessinsider.com/apple-parler-back-on-app-store-2020-4
" after the app changed its moderation policies."
So, Parler caved. At least that would be my assumption.
Check out this letter written by Parler's attorneys to the House oversight committee that was coming after them.
In fact, in the days and weeks leading up to January 6th, Parler referred violent content from its platform to the FBI for investigation over 50 times, and Parler even alerted law enforcement to specific threats of violence being planned at the Capitol.
https://republicans-oversight.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Parler-Letter-to-Chairwoman-Maloney.pdf
Parler received communications from the FBI both before and after the Capitol riot thanking Parler for all the help they had given the FBI.
It may or may not be true that Parler's moderation policies weren't up to snuff as far as Apple was concerned, but if that's the case, it doesn't appear to have been about tolerating violent threats, etc. It may be because Parler tolerates statements against gay marriage, against immigration, against affirmative action, etc. The letter claims that there was more incitement to riot on Twitter than there was on Parler.
Parler certainly wasn't in the good graces of the Democratic party at the time they were deplatformed, and I maintain that this was the primary consideration of the companies that deplatformed Parler after January 6th. The most significant event for Facbook and Google on January 6th wasn't the Capitol riot. It was that the final tallies of the votes had been published, and the Democrats won both of the disputed Senate seats in Georgia--the Democratic party and the U.S. government that's going after them for antitrust were to be one in the same thing.
It will be interesting to see if Google follows suit and allows Parler back onto Google's app store. Google has more to fear than Apple because they have an antitrust suit already filed against them, which calls them out specifically for abusing access to their app store to harm would-be competitors. We might take it as a sign of how Google sees things if they still fear the wrath of the Democratic party for letting Parler back onto their app store more than they fear the results of deplatforming Parler when their competitor, Apple, has let them back into the fold. I also maintain that Google probably wouldn't have done what it did to Parler--exactly what they're accused of doing in their antitrust suit--if they hadn't been given the green light by either the Justice Department or the incoming Biden administration.
Just wondering; has there been any reporting on how Apple, Google, and Amazon all attacked Parler at the same time and yet were not conspiring in restraint of trade?
(fun fact; Google spell check does not consider 'Parler' a word)
No. And I keep talking about it.
It is highly unlikely that Google, at the very least, would do something they're accused of doing in the antitrust suit against them unless they did it at the behest of the Democratic party or the Justice Department.
When those Big Tech CEOs end up in front of this or that committee next time, each one of them needs to be asked point blank whether anyone in the government or the Democratic party told them that they needed to deplatform Parler or gave them instructions to do so.
They were all under threat of being broken up by the Democrats over "misinformation".
If all the Big Tech companies involved, Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, and Twitter deplatformed both Parler and President Trump, without seeking any kind of okay from the government or the entities that having antitrust cases pending against them, that would be extraordinary to me. And as you can see from the interactions between the FBI and Parler, social media companies seem to know where to call when they want to talk to someone at the Justice Department.
The Justice Department is suing Google for deplatforming people from their app store, but Google doesn't bother calling the Justice Department before they deplatform Parler and Trump?
Some things are counterintuitive. The sun has risen in the east and set in the west every day of recorded history, but it isn't orbiting the earth. It's quite the opposite. Maybe Google didn't even consider how deplatforming Parler and Trump might impact the antitrust case against them, but that is really counterintuitive.
Before I take plans in front of the city council for approval, I take them around to the city council members to see if they're okay with the plans. Surely Google is at least as smart as I am that way. You don't want to piss off regulators unnecessarily. Hey. Here's my situation. Here's what I'm thinking of doing. Do you like that idea? Do you hate it? Thanks for letting me know. I want you to be happy.
Apple was changing their definition of moderation to include against speech that the other SV companies have started banning, such as any Trump speech, discussions on vaccines, or people saying the election had issues. They want them to have the exact moderation Twitter does, which means they have no market delta between the two besides interface. It is an anti-market practice to hurt apps that prioritize free speech.
I'd like to nominate this in the category of most confusing, Janus-like headline or link line. Close later (than usual) this week? Or close (when they'd've otherwise been open), later this week? I got my understanding from following the link, but what good is your writing then?
Christine Whitmer shot an elephant in her pajamas.
The point of the writing is to get you to click the link and provide revenue.
Can I get an Amen!
Liberals confidently predicted that the masks were coming off way too soon
We need to really fight, particularly as libertarians since this gets at a basic idea of the entire philosophy, that a Mandate is equivalent actual behavior on the ground. Even if masks are effective, this is not the same as saying making it illegal to not wear masks in certain places is effective. The more important corollary is that not having a mandate doesn't mean people won't take precautions.
When I piss all over my hands and wrists in a movie theater bathroom, it's not the threat of law that leads me to wash my hands.
And when I enter a building that requests I wear a mask, it's not the fear of legal consequence that makes me oblige them.
Even if masks are effective, this is not the same as saying making it illegal to not wear masks in certain places is effective. The more important corollary is that not having a mandate doesn’t mean people won’t take precautions.
Supposedly, people were taking precautions on their own prior to them becoming mandatory, but that's not what gets bureaucrats hot and moist. There's a reason Whitmer just unilaterally declared that all these restrictions are going to be indefinite, and that's mainly because she knows she's not going to suffer any actual consequences for doing so, short of a Minecraft operation or the red counties telling Lansing to fuck off.
"And when I enter a building that requests I wear a mask, it’s not the fear of legal consequence that makes me oblige them."
It's the desire to be a good little sheep, and you are the reason this will never end.
Robby Suave said: "Masks have been an important tool in slowing the course of the pandemic. "
Thus demonstrating zero grasp of science.
Enjoy wearing your bitch bag. You will be wearing it the rest of your life. To be a "good person."
"I am inundated with hostile feedback from liberals"
But of course. You violated the cardinal rule here. If you disagree with them, they will attack you personally with over the top irrational emotional "arguments".
"Masks have been an important tool in slowing the course of the pandemic. "
Yet you bleat about science, when that single comment proves you know nothing.
More people are killed by their beds each year (~20k between falling, choking, and suffocation) than are murdered with a gun each year (~15k in 2018).
When will we finally start talking about the public health disaster that is the bed?
The message to the unvaccinated should be: Go get vaccinated. The message to the vaccinated should be: Rejoice! You can go back to normal life.
go get vaccinated? NO WAY!!! That thing is NOT proven, nor is it safe and reliable.
I have never been in lockdown panic fear for my life/health mode since this madness and charade began. Nor will I.
Forget the vaccine, get back to normal right away.Enough of the madness already.
I agree, this should be taken care of.

Panic (the irrational mental state in which rational acts are impossible) is a public health issue. Somebody tell Super-President Grampa that Cowardice is not Leadership.
You should keep wearing masks outside post-vaccination because a lot of ppl have a hard time admitting they were wrong about this and we don’t want to make them feel bad, this is more important than science and health because if someone’s feelings get covid you won’t even know.

Normally I don't agree with Boris Johnson about anything, but I do say: Let the bodies of the COVID deniers, anti-maskers, vaccine-conspiracy-paranoiacs and all the rest of their ilk pile high in their thousands. Let Darwin have his way and his day.
Thanks for the look inside a sick mind.
You are a sad, sad troll KAR. It is no longer fun to parody you with the cliches of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints. High morals, community involvement and a focus on family are sound foundations for any church, ours included. We do not condone swearing, but you can go flag yourself, as I will do from here out.
Good day, sir.
The leftists are spiraling here.
The mormons are the bad ones. I'm simply defending myself and our country.
So much for White Knight's assertion that he and his pals aren't the psychotics here.
I don't speak for anyone but myself and I wouldn't describe myself as a leftist.
Am I to the left of you fascists? Yes, but any reasonable person is. Most people hear are Trump worshipping far right traitors.
Wow, third day in a row you have taunted me with insults before I even show up to check out what is being said in the comments. Rent-free, your head.
Uh huh, right. I'm gonna have to ask you for cites showing that Kill All Rednecks is my "pal" and that I do not think he is psychotic.
Time for you to look up what that idiom means, WK. Or don't... it's funny when you don't.
"before I even show up to check out what is being said in the comments"
You really seem to think you get a do-over from being a lying asshole the day before, with the start of each fresh new morning, huh?
You have a tauntable type of personality.
Fact is, you pick a fight with me every morning. Which means you enjoy it on some level.
I do try to be a thorn in the side to all the members of the right-wing echo chamber who hang out here.
ask you for cites showing that Kill All Rednecks is my “pal” and that I do not think he is psychotic
Feel free to generate a post we can cite where you actually disclaim him and admit his behavior is psychotic. I have not previously seen where you have done so. You stepped right in the middle of one of his shit-smearing struggle sessions here without so much as a comment on the stench.
I will wait here.
I do try to be a thorn in the side
A thorn in the side is potentially dangerous. You are a burr in the sock. Harmless, but irritating enough that one has to stop and do something about it.
right-wing echo chamber
You seem to have misspelled libertarian.
Yet you just bitched and moaned that I was picking on you.
You just can't seem to keep track of your own bullshit.
I personally feel that it's a mitzvah to keep you fascist fifty-centers looking stupid. Don't expect a change.
So you admit you troll for the left. Thank god we finally have come to honesty. I applaud you for your openness that everyone else recognized a year ago. Thank you.
I do try to be a thorn in the side to all the members of the right-wing echo chamber who hang out here.
Is that why you cried like a bitch when I laughed in your face about the pathetic projection of your middle-school clique paradigm?
I'm not going to bother digging up a cite. I'll just make a statement here:
1) Kill All Rednecks statements about LDS/Mormons are offensive. I denounce his anti-Mormonism.
2) As I have said before, to Kill All Rednecks, I have LDS/Mormon friends.
Now, can you reply with an acknowledgement that I made this statement?
Did not say that you were "picking on" me. I said for the last three days, you have "pick[ed] a fight" with me. For a guy who gets super anal about sue of idiom, you sure give yourself a pass on getting idioms correct.
Dee’s more of a gnat.
Always the victim. Why is that so endemic in all of you?
How sheltered are you that you think being made fun of is a fight?
Words are violence to lefties like Dee.
In other words you've never cared about vitriol against your perceived enemies until called out on it. Good work lefty.
Acknowledged and appreciated.
Ouch, a right-winger preaching to others about not playing the victim. That's all right-wingers like you do these days.
Nope, this is where you have trouble with logic. If I am trolling, I am trolling against Trumpistas and right-wingers; that does not equate to my supporting the left.
I am a libertarian, so not a supporter of right or left.
Either acknowledge that I denounced Kill All Rednecks, or go on being your lying self.
No problem. Thanks for the acknowledgement.
Now acknowledge your beliefs are goddamn stupid Chuck?
Accurate wasn't it. You didn't deny it.
By the way... did you even bother to notice youre the one who started threadshitting this morning?
Until you started posting everything was essentially civil.
Not true. As I pointed out, Mother’s started it.
No. You did. Every time you show the thread shitting spirals. Youre a troll. You admit it below.
You started this, and continue this with your gaslighting and lies.
Don't pretend that you're the victim.
No, this is showing how non self aware you are.
But again, thanks for admitting you are trolling.
Please stop calling yourself a libertarian - you are a full blown leftist. Own it and move on,
Citation?
White Knight is such a fucking hypocrite.
You left out bigotry and hatred of non christians, gays, and non whites or Polynesians.
95% of mormons are horrible, horrible people. Anyone dumb enough to believe that tripe shouldn't be breeding let alone having huge families.
The world would be a better place if all mormons were exterminated.
Poor Dee.
*here
Flag, refresh.
I said good day.
If you're mormon I hope you die and enjoy your stay in hell.
