Brickbat: Don't Mess with Texas

|

The Texas Department of Public Safety says it has suspended a state trooper accused of punching and shattering the windshield of a car driven by an elderly couple while they investigate the claim. The couple was driving on a narrow, two-lane road where a trooper had someone pulled over. The couple's daughter say they slowed as they passed the scene, but the trooper stepped out and punched their windshield. She says her mother started to apologize to the trooper who just told them to "F**cking go." A local TV station reports that a supervisor admitted to it that a trooper was responsible for the broken windshield.

  1. What the heck was she apologizing for?

“Oh dear oh me oh my I’m awful sorry mister officer sir. It was truly not my intention to strike your fist with my windshield! Please find the grace and capacity for forgiveness within yourself to spare me from the wrath of your nightstick, tazer, firearm, and aforementioned fist! Please do not shoot my dog or plant illicit substances on my person or in my vehicle! I am truly sorry mister trooper, sir. Oh lordy I’ll never sin again!”

    1. Yeah. I mean, they couldn’t have been going very fast if the dude was able to punch the windshield without destroying his hand.

        1. Sick reference, bro. Your references are out of control. Everyone knows that.

    2. Texas State Troopers are notorious hard asses. Probably just a method of self preservation on her part to get through the situation.

      1. This one was likely roided up and authorized to eff up if not take your life.

    3. > What the heck was she apologizing for?

She was an old lady. It’s what they do. Respecting the authoritah. I was going through Des Moines airport TSA line when an old lady in front of me got singled out for a grope and personal inspection of her body. In front of everyone. (Which was me as I was the only other person in line). After they finished she turned to the sexual assaulter and said, “Thank you for keeping me safe”.

    4. She was apologizing to ensure the officer wouldn’t hit anything else, especially her.

    5. “I’m awful sorry… It was truly not my intention to strike your fist with my windshield! Please find the grace and capacity for forgiveness …to spare me from … aforementioned fist!”

So polite! Was it the fist… of, perhaps… etiquette?

  2. …it has suspended a state trooper accused of punching and shattering the windshield of a car driven by an elderly couple while they investigate the claim.

Well, if the elderly couple was indeed investigating a claim then they were police scabs. That’s the trooper’s job. Union first. Punch away.

    1. That would make a good TV show in the style of Murder, She Wrote. A retiree couple travels all around Texas investing insurance claims. It could be called Undercover Underwriters.

  3. And nothing else happened.

    1. I bet he files for Workman’s Comp for that hand injury.

      1. How good are the disability pensions in Texas?

  4. I’m sure an investigation will determine that the car was coming straight at him and the officer, fearing for his life, defended himself. While a car is considered a deadly weapon, our brave hero chose to bravely and heroically respond to the lethal threat with less than the deadly force to which he would be understandably and completely entitled to do so. Whereas said officer demonstrated the highest level of bravery, heroism, and self-restraint, we therefore award him a promotion, a pay raise, this shiny gold medal and a certificate acknowledging his brave heroism.

    1. “I’m sure an investigation will determine that the car was coming straight at him and the officer, fearing for his life, defended himself.”

      By punching the car?

  5. Sick reference, bro. Your references are out of control. Everyone knows that.
