Brickbat: Watch Where You Point That Thing

A Ladue, Missouri, police officer has been charged with second-degree assault for shooting an alleged shoplifter. An attorney for the officer says she thought she was drawing her Taser, not her gun. The officer, Julie Crews, was called to a store in response to a report of two women shoplifting. She found one of the women, who had apparently fallen and said she was injured. Crews called for an ambulance and tried to handcuff the woman, but the woman tried to flee. Crews shouted "Taser! Taser! Taser!" and fired her weapon.

Don't taze me bro!
Cuff 'em, THEN tase ,em
And in an amazing coincidence Ladue, MO police officer also posed as "female police officer" for stock photo agency Dreamstime.com.
Wardrobe malfunction.
When you load up every cop like SEAL Team 6, bad shit is bound to happen. Particularly in LEOs minds.
It was the fog of war. Don’t meth with Missouri.
Sue the manufacturer who shapes the taser like a handgun.
Sue the designer who decided tasers should feel just like a handgun.
Sue the procurement department who said the taser should look and feel like a handgun.
Sue all citizens who buy tasers that do not look of feel like a handgun.
But never, ever discipline the cop who gets confused in what to him looks and feels like combat.
Anyone else remember when police carried batons that did not look or feel like a handgun? No one got shot by mistake then. But who exactly was it that insisted the batons had to go? Could it be the same people who want guns to go as well?
Is it really that difficult to tell the difference between a taser and a gun?

"Community standards" eh?
Which is what happens when you give your community over to an entirely new demographic with their unique notions re blasphemy and denigration. As in Minnesota.
Minnesota is a messed up mixture of guilt ridden Scandinavian Americans and angry jihadists who happily agree that alabaster humanoids are guilty. It is the perfect storm of the regressive left.
Fuck them all.
And then build a wall around Minnesota.
It's shoplifting. Not an offense that warrants the use of deadly force. If the subject flees, chase them but don't pull a gun! Yeah I know, the dimwit thought it was a taser. Still no reason to be tasering a suspected shoplifter.
Stop arming the police like they're soldiers in a war zone.
This highly trained 13 year veteran just had a panic attack when the violent shoplifter ran away from her.
You ever had a felon run away from you? Scary as fuck I imagine.
Any untrained civilian would have shit themselves in the same situation so we should be glad that police officer was there.

Tasers were a mistake.
