At least 50 people were killed in the course of a mass shooting in Las Vegas.
This is bad on many levels.
Does one of those levels involve the feds and the frog treatment?
Those are a lot of coffins for certain politicians to stand on.
Would that were the worst thing about it. 8-(
Hello.
RIP.
President Trump dedicated a golf trophy to the people of Puerto Rico, which was devastated last month by Hurricane Maria.
Now watch this drive.
Hold my orange juice.
President Trump dedicated a golf trophy to the people of Puerto Rico, which was devastated last month by Hurricane Maria.
"Uh... thanks?"
If only he had given them a Dundies Award.
The president also contradicted Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on whether negotiation with North Korea was still possible.
How do you negotiate with a man who's burning out his fuse over there alone?
I think it's gonna be a long, long time.
He's not the man they think he is at home.
Pyongyang aint the kind of place to raise your kids.
Police in Catalonia attacked voters trying to participate in a referendum on independence that Spain insists is illegal?yes on independence won overwhelmingly.
Come and see the violence inherent in the system!
A lot of ugly video coming from over there, apparently crowds that start singing is what drives the police into a maddening frenzy of clubbing elderly ladies.
I hate that the Las Vegas shooting is going to suck all the air out of the Catalan news coverage.
I like to think they were singing some NWA classics.
I hate that the Las Vegas shooting is going to suck all the air out of the Catalan news coverage.
Too local?
False flag shooting?
That is false flag 101.
Lefty media cannot support people wanting to get out from under the socialist yoke in the EU. Its why the media went so hard against Brexit.
So the Global Leftist Media Conspiracy sent a kamikaze foot soldier to Las Vegas to make sure Americans aren't paying attention to Catalonia? Sure, that makes sense at all.
You laugh now, but wait until it turns out the shooter was Brian Williams.
Some are saying that it's leftists running the separatism movement in Catalonia. I know they're not trying the EU.
"not trying to leave the EU"
dammit i cant tipe this morning
Tolstoy is quoted as saying "No one who has not sat in prison knows what the State is like."
I think we can add 'getting clubbed on the head somewhere in that.
Possibly a chance for these clueless college kids to see what it's actually like when you get all the government you want, and then some.
Being clubbed on the head is like those free samples in the little cups at the supermarket.
The Juice is loose!
Fun fact: O.J. was a guest at Trump's second wedding.
Trump values that kind of loyalty and is looking for a new HHS Secretary.
Bill and Hillary Clinton were at the 2005 Trump wedding too.
I'd vape a fucking starburst.
Ohio Governor John Kasich suggested he could leave the Republican Party if it didn't fix itself.
Be warned, Democrats. The GOP isn't sending you their best and brightest.
Ummmm.. bye.
Read this this morning:
"Kasich made a name for himself in the '90s as one of Congress's more libertarian-leaning Republicans."
The word.libertarian is being used just as accurately, and with just as much punch as "white supremecist."
Interchangeably, too.
The president also contradicted Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on whether negotiation with North Korea was still possible.
Rex joins a club that also features Donald Trump.
Ohio Governor John Kasich suggested he could leave the Republican Party if it didn't fix itself.
Just like he ditched his Blockbuster membership over them continuing to stock Fargo.
Oh no. Please don't go.
Ohio Governor John Kasich suggested he could leave the Republican Party if it didn't fix itself.
Going for the "Reasonable Republican" brand, I see.
Well he's got the "I'm a Republican and a hunter, but I support banning semiautomatics" vote locked down.
Bye
Damn, responded to the wrong Pompey post.
...yes on independence won overwhelmingly.
And the Spaniards made such a good last ditch impression, too.
It's as if Madrid wanted to make sure the process is irreversible.
President Trump dedicated a golf trophy to the people of Puerto Rico, which was devastated last month by Hurricane Maria.
Meh. However, if next month he ships that turkey to P.R. instead of pardoning it, I'll be impressed.
That would be awesome. Sadly, even Trump doesn't have that kind of panache.
I say this with all sincerity: I hope to god that you soon get a seat amongst his team of advisors.
Also possible, giving the turkey a twenty minutes head start before the hunt resumes.
O.J. Simpson was released from prison.
I'll wait for Part 2 of the miniseries.
Based on the second volume of his memoir, If I Did That Other Thing Too.
I love that Facebook Meme with the picture from the 70s of O.J. and Bruce Jenner standing beside Howard Cosell. It has the caption "Ladies and Gentleman, I have looked into the future and you are not going to believe this shit."
Be honest: did you, even for a fleeting moment, wonder whether O.J. went to the country music event, if for no other reason to consort with pretty boot wearing milfs?
I know I did.
No. OJ is not a psychotic mass murderer. He whacked his wife for very personal reasons. He killed the poor waiter because he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and OJ didn't want any witnesses.
Misunderstanding. I thought of him going there on a lark for the purpose of scoring - hence my reference to boot wearing milfs. There was probably no shortage of 35-55 milf hotties in attendance.
Country music is the pop music of suburban housewives these days. So, I imagine there was no shortage of MILFs out getting their freak on in Vegas. Probably was a fun time until this asshole showed up.
I'm a little bit country and I'm a little bit rock-and-roll.
This is a worthy goal.
He's released from a Nevada prison, and then twenty four hours later in Las Vegas...
The thing is Vegas is so horrible, you almost have to be cynical to keep from crying. On that note, I was going to start an over-under on when someone on Twitter says something idiotic and offensive. But, according to Instapundit someone already had blamed Bernie Sanders. So, that over-under is done. So, how long before someone in the media says something stupid and offensive about the victims all being white people and country music fans and presumably Trump voters and how that either makes it less of a tragedy or how realizing it is a tragedy is an insult to all of the real victims in the world? I was going to give it until the end of the day. Now, I am thinking before noon.
I guarantee you it's already out there. But i'm not gonna go looking for it.
Although I shouldn't care, I can't help but have a morbid curiosity about why this asshole did this. He is not a Muslim. It appears he has an Asian girlfriend. So, unless we really do live in Dave Chapelle's world, he isn't a white supremacist nut. Usually, true delusional psychotics like Adam Lanza or psychotics with a deeply personal grudge like the idiot in Charleston, don't tell their friends and family they are going to do it. It appears from reading the British press the guy's girlfriend at least knew what he was going to do and may have been in on it. So, I doubt he is a psychotic. He seems just fucking evil and had some larger reason for doing it, which was likely political if I had to guess. But, who knows.
It's too bad these clowns can't just only kill themselves as a political protest, like the monks in Vietnam.
You can't base too much on early reports. Before long, we'll know his story. At 64 he may not have had much of an internet presence to go by, but someone knew this guy. We'll find out.
The British Press have very credible accounts of a man and a woman being kicked out of the concert for pushing their way to the front telling everyone they were going to die. Maybe it wasn't this guy or his girlfriend or anything connected to him, but that is one hell of a coincidence if it wasn't. The guy checked into the hotel and was well armed. He planned this thing and likely went out and told the crowd he was going to do it. That doesn't strike me as the actions of some delusional psychotic-like Lanza or someone with a personal grudge of some sort. But time will tell.
And I think every nut has an internet presence. They just can't help it. The nut who shot up the baseball game was around this guy's age and he certainly did.
It is curious that Tony hasn't been seen on this site since last night...
It would be a two-fer.
Tony's gone and Tony is definitely a lefty zealot who hates everything America stands for.
Nah. Tony is a nihilist. He doesn't believe in anything enough to kill or die for it.
He really took Imagine to heart.
The president also contradicted Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on whether negotiation with North Korea was still possible.
If everything is on the table, isn't taking things off the table on the table?
Lots of bad things are said about cops on this board and usually with good reason. This morning, you really have to respect the cops who went up and got the asshole in Las Vegas. It is easy from the safety of your keyboard to say it is their job and all that. But it took some real balls to go up after that guy. They had no idea if he had booby-trapped the door or if there was another guy in the room waiting to shoot the first person who came in or God knows what else. If nothing else, going into a room where you know someone is armed and means you harm takes real balls. Good on them for going up there and doing it.
Paddock killed himself.
Not according to what I have read. But even if he did, he killed himself when confronted by police. The cops didn't know he was going to do that when they went up there. So, the fact that he didn't doesn't take away from the balls it took to confront him.

Gender reversal surgery on the rise. The existence of such in any significant numbers calls the entire idea of transgenderism into question. If it really were the case that your gender cannot match your body, then few if any people who feel that way strongly enough to get gender changing surgery should ever regret it. I don't see how advocates of transgenderism can explain this other than to say "these people were mistaken", which is pretty weak tea. I don't see how anyone could be mistaken about being the wrong gender for their body. And I also don't see how your "gender" can ever change that easily.
***cough***gender-fluid***cough***
You mean it might be a choice and have nothing to do with your body? Sure, but I don't think the advocates of transgenderism are going to like that very much.
gender-fluid will stain your sheets every time unless you use 20 mule team borax.
O.J. Simpson was released from prison.
Hopefully now he'll find the real killer!
He's already resumed his search. He has received information to the effect that the real killer is headed to Florida...to play golf.

Ohio Governor John Kasich suggested he could leave the Republican Party if it didn't fix itself.
By "fix itself" does he mean lurch further left?
You have to laugh at clowns like Kasich. Go ahead John, leave the party. Where does he think he is going to go? The Bernie Sanders left runs the Democratic Party. Does he think they are going to take him in? Does he think various journalists who would never vote for him saying nice things about him is going to get him elected? What is the end game here John?
The Bernie Sanders left runs the Democratic Party.
That is why they nominated old Bern last year.
If Hillary hadn't fixed the primaries, they would have. Bernie won more votes. One thing is for sure, that won't happen again. The nominee in 2020 will not be Hillary or anyone even close to the center. I will be Warren or likely someone even further to the left of her.
Since you are a die-hard socialist, I would think you would be bragging about that shreek. Your side won.
Bernie won more votes
Bullshit. It wasn't even close either.
I think the superdelegate system of the Team Blue nomination process is rather un-democratic. What say you?
I don't really care if they draw names out of a hat.
Sure, Shreek, that is why there isn't a single person who has a realistic chance for the 20 nomination who isn't batshit crazy left.
Dems should recruit their own idiot reality TV star like the GOP did with Trump.
Maybe Flava Flav.
Hillary: 2,220 pledged delegates. 591 unpledged delegates.
Bern: 1,831 pledged delegates. 48 unpledged delegates.
2016 election delegates
27 states chose Hillary and 23 states chose Bernie.
Bernie would have won if more unpledged delegates didn't chose Hillary.
Hil-dog 15.8 million to Bern's 12 million.
https://goo.gl/TP9d6T
You never get anything right.
The fact remains, the Sanders left runs the party shreek. Name a single person with any power in the Democratic party who isn't hard left.
Obama - friend of Silicon Valley and Wall St. and free trade proponent.
Silicon Valley is hard left and so is wall street.
The companies you think of in with "Silicon Valley" (Google, FB) and "Wall Street" (AIG, Fannie/Freedie Mac) depend on crony capitalism and big government.
Wow. Nothing scares me like imagining a Sanders presidency.
Although with a Republican majority Congress, it could've been a different flavor of delicious tears.
The superdelegate situation in the Democratic Party, and how they declare their support officially early on is what made a big different both in swinging the race to Hillary and in keeping out other candidates. Bernie actually did lead in votes at a certain point early on, but Hillary's cemented lead in superdelegates made that early lead, which was, of course, in the initial small states ? Hillary ended up taking the later large states like NY and CA anyway. Even that, however, was partly a matter of how the narrative followed from Clinton's early vote + superdelegate lead and thus the understanding that she would be the candidate. So, even if Sanders arguably "led after the first quarter," the outcome of that game was never really in doubt.
By comparison, the Republican party, without a separate pool of superdelegates (there are extra votes given to elected officials and party members, but those are mixed into the state totals as primaries occur, and are of far fewer numbers) ended up helping Trump's insurgent campaign. Jeb Bush had donors wrapped up and Walker and Rubio split a lot of endorsements. But Trump's early amassing of votes (especially with the GOP's model of winner-take-all primaries) didn't have a counterweight like the Democrats' superdelegates.
Why not? John's policies are not much different from Bernie's.
Fair point. But, he carries the taint of having once been a Republican. No way.
I assume "fix itself" means adjust all opinions and priorities to match his own.
ISIS claimed responsibility for two women stabbed at a train station in Marseilles.
Expected as the assailant yelled something particular when he committed the act...
Police in Catalonia attacked voters trying to participate in a referendum on independence that Spain insists is illegal?yes on independence won overwhelmingly.
I await Reason's article in support of the right of secession.
SIV ranted and raved at me that one throwaway article from a week and a half ago showed how deeply they care about it. I guess he'll cite this A.M. link at us next.
I think you will be waiting a long time. It is a very interesting question. The Spanish Consitution makes secession impossible and was approved in 1978 with something like 93% support in Catalonia. Can they go back on that?
I understand the people living today were in many cases not around to vote for the Constitution. And I am sympathetic to the idea of self-determination. At the same time, what about the people in Catalonia that don't want to leave Spain? What if you have the vote and it is close, say 51-49 for. Don't the 49% who didn't want to leave Spain have a point? The Constitution says you can't-do it and only a small majority of the province does. Is it just to force them to leave Spain? I don't think there is a clear answer to that.
Oh, I don't know, sell a few hundred thousand AK-47's with ammo in Catalonia and I suspect independence will come along eventually. It has worked everywhere it has been tried.
It didn't in the 1930s. Catalonia was the leftist province. The right was in Madrid. The last time they had a civil war, Catalonia lost. Not every secessionist movement wins. Most lose. You just hear more about the ones that win.
The Spanish Consitution makes secession impossible and was approved in 1978 with something like 93% support in Catalonia.
I'm aware of that. I am speaking more to just a general support of freedom in the form of secession and self-governance (that pesky American founding principle...). As far as the US, the constitution is silent on the issue. Given that and the nature that it is composed of powers granted to the government in the positive, I say that the feds can't legally prevent a state from seceding for any reason. The Catalonians don't appear to be so lucky as the Spanish constitution forbids it. Still, I would like a supposedly libertarian magazine lend support to freedom.
If a state really did want to leave the Union, I think to do it legally, it would have to first allow any of its citizens who wanted to leave and go back to the US to do so. It would also have to provide fair compensation to the federal government for all federal lands and property within the state. That would include giving back or paying for all of the military equipment the feds purchased for the state's national guard.
Even if you believe in the right of secession, I don't see how you can say that means a state gets to leave and keep property that is jointly owned by the rest of the country in the form of federal ownership. The South didn't do that. It kept 1/3 of the people in its borders in bondage and it demanded the right to seize all federal property. I think those things make the South leaving the union illegal even if you believe in the right to leave.
Here, one of our founding documents said secession is an inalienable right. Not that Spain is constrained by our political philosophy, but it's really incredible that the Founders here actually said that and apparently meant it, even after the country won the war.
Agree that the tricky part of secession is the minority that opposes it.
Ohio Governor John Kasich suggested he could leave the Republican Party if it didn't fix itself.
Ladies and gentlemen, your next "libertarian" presidential candidate. This dude has GayJay Junior written all over him.
He's going to win the presidency, one hug at a time!
John Kasich is going to have an outbreak of honestly and join the Socialist Party?
Very funny commercial from SNL
This is the shit you get from people who have way too much time on their hands.
(geo ducks behind couch!)
They are making fun of the people who have way too much time on their hands!
How fucking dare you!
The Avatar skit was funny. This was aight.

In welcome death news: Sex And The City 3 movie is dead
I didn't know there was a 2.
Full disclosure: I enjoyed the sitcom now and then, not religiously or anything but it had its moments. But it's so throwaway, I can't imagine wanting to watch it again or god forbid a movie of it.
Plus-size mother-to-be 'is FIRED from her bank job' after her steamy topless photoshoot with her fianc? that promoted body positivity went viral
My God.
Accepting your flaws, in this case being a fat cow, doesn't mean they are not flaws. Somehow, the common sense idea that your entire self is not defined by your flaws, whatever they are, has been transformed into believing that your flaws really are virtues. Sorry honey, it doesn't work that way. You are not a bad person and you are still worthy of dignity and respect as a human being even if you are fat. That fact, however, doesn't make you being fat any less of a flaw or make you any less unattractive. So put those horrible things away and join a gym.
John, no matter how hard you try you can't run away from your known preference for very heavy women. It's Reason cannon.
Also in the reason canon is the idea that any woman above a size six is fat. Being "fat" by reason standards is not the same as being the super jumbo that this woman is.
Maybe she doesn't want to. Why should she correct her flaws for you? Do you correct every flaw for anyone else?
Anyway I hope she sues the f--k out of that bank. They can't control your behavior off-hours.
I don't think she has to correct her flaws for me. If she is happy with herself, good for her. But she shouldn't pretend they are not flaws much less expect anyone else to agree with her.
Anyone? Are you new on the internet? Also, her fiance doesn't seem to think so.
Good for them. It is still a flaw. Someday when he is taking care of her after the Type II diabetes sets in, my guess is he will agree with me.
Good for them. It is still a flaw. Someday when he is taking care of her after the Type II diabetes sets in, my guess is he will agree with me.
Although she might be the right color, can we agree that O.J. is not looking to hook up with that?
"Thousands of people praised the couple for posing for the sultry photographs"
They keep using that word "sultry" but I don't think it means what they think it means.
True story: Group of White Men in Patagonia Vests Confused for VC Fund, Raise $500 Million
Ban vests, people. Or at least don't wear one...
Wasn't this a subplot that got cut from last season of Silicon Valley?
Mike Judge felt that all the powerful men wearing vests was just too unbelievable.
Reminds me of one of my favorite Onion stories.
Are they keeping the money and really turning it into a VC fund? Did the people not realize their mistake and want their money back? How exactly does someone walk into a coffee shop and give total strangers a check for $50 million dollars? Really?

O.J. Simpson was released from prison.
The Juice is loose!
I think OJ was guilty as hell of murdering his wife and Ron Goldman. But, he was acquitted and guilty men going free is the price of our system and one I am willing to pay. Since he had gotten away with murder, no one seemed to notice or care that his sentence for the thing in Vegas was really unjust. The things the victim had really did belong to OJ. And OJ wasn't the one who pulled the gun. I think what he did was a crime but no way in hell did he deserve nine years in prison plus parole for it. OJ really did get screwed and the fact that the LA jury let him off for murder doesn't make that okay. Or at least it shouldn't.
He isn't done helping lawyers try to stay nationally relevant
True story, I went to a CLE way back in the 1990s, post OJ, where Johnny Cochran was the key speaker. It was Oklahoma. So, I guess people didn't want to be associated with Johnny because I was one of about 15 people who showed up. I heard his speech and got to have a drink with him afterward. Didn't ask him about the OJ trial. He didn't talk about it directly in his speech. His speech was all about how to win cases and appeal to juries. Honestly, he was a hell of a nice and charming guy. I really liked him.
It's a good thing that he defended his client. That's how the justice systems supposed to work.
It's also supposed to provide justice though. Kinda the more important part, some might say.
Florida's AG sounds like a unpleasant person. Imagine that.
I am hard-pressed to come up with a more unpleasant group of people than the State AGs in this country. Since there are 50 of them, there is likely a few that are not utterly awful, but I have never seen them. Every one of them seems to represent the absolute worst and most authoritarian and corrupt instincts of their respective parties.
Bondi is 99% politician, 1% ambulance chaser, 100% chipper bait.
