... leading Trump to tweet that he'd "still" beat Clinton in the popular vote, which he lost.
Hey shhhhh. He needs this.
Hello.
Is it me you're looking for?
No one's looking *at* you either. You can stop posing now, take a break.
I can see it in your eyes...
Trump won the popular vote in the states which gave him the electoral college vote to win
Those loser votes in places like California are not important
Shut down the government? If only they would make it permanent.
Whenever they try to scare us about shutting down the government, why do I always think of this?

Bernie Sanders says Ann Coulter has the right to speak at Berkeley "without fear of violence and intimidation."
First his economic agenda and now this: another thing he has in common with Trump.

So much winning, you'll be tired of winning.
I do like that Clinton still loses, though.
She's got to be ready to be fitted for a straight jacket over this one. If you are so utterly horrible that you could lose to that....
I think this explains her behavior from election night to now, which has not been mature, or even entirely sane.
Supposedly some newspaper finished the 2000 Florida recount and Gore never prevailed. Maybe the two of them can commiserate.
They can both go hang with chad
More proof of how dysfunctional and sclerotic the Democrats are--this is a party that honestly has some individuals that could be serious national contenders if the party wasn't so beholden to dinosaurs like Pelosi and the Clintons. So instead of nominating some young, energetic lions for 2016, or a legitimate rabble-rouser like Warren who is basically a left-wing version of Donald Trump, their most serious contenders are a corrupt old hag and a crypto-commie.
What's truly gag-inducing is how the New York media corporations have resorted to pimping Webb Hubbell's daughter in a desperate attempt to make her seem like a legitimate force and not just a life-long beneficiary of political nepotism that she actually is.
I can't stand Elizabeth Warren.
And yet, the whole time I was watching the Summer 2015 phase of the primaries I was in shock that even with how thoroughly Warren had laid her groundwork as a "likable", populist, outsider, feminist leftist (all things that played well to the Obama coalition that they needed to win), the media straight up crowded her out in favor of Clinton, who had exactly one of the five descriptors above nailed down (the vagina part).
I'm definitely overestimating how good Liz Warren would be in a national election, but I'm flabbergasted that no one except a few grassroots leftists even considered giving her a try.
Another poll without Johnson/Weld?
They mentioned Clinton, those two guys preferred candidate.
Bernie Sanders says Ann Coulter has the right to speak at Berkeley "without fear of violence and intimidation."
Having had BLM "sicced" on him.
Yeh, he kinda knows how that game turned out for him.
Bernie may be dumb as six stumps, but even he can sometimes learn a thing.
Broke clocks, blind squirrels, and all that.

Add a zero to that and it's pretty high.
Isn't Trump the zero?
Admittedly, a YUUUGE zero, but that's mostly a font issue.
Is this the new math? If you add zero to anything it remains the same. What have you been smoking?
42 + 0 = 420.
Are you denying my lived experience?
That looks like some menage of Roman numerals and Arabic numerals. Double cultural appropriation!
It's Chronic Core.
U win the internet
North Korea says it's ready to sink a U.S. aircraft carrier that's supposed to be headed to the area.
They're going to install Nork targeting systems onto it and wait until the carrier fires.

How many irreparably damaged their phones?
Officials at the White House is pressing Republicans in Congress to use the prospect of a government shutdown to secure funding for the border wall.
Admittedly, those are the perfect combination of buzz phrases to ensure non-stop media attention.
Officials at the White House is pressing Republicans in Congress to use the prospect of a government shutdown to secure funding for the border wall.
Speaking of sic.
At least the White House has learned from history.
Jabba no bargain
It would be sweet, so so very sweet, for Trump to let the government go into shutdown. But then, as opposed to the Obama administration's using the government shutdown to inflict petty pain on the public like closing the road in front of Mount Rushmore, and shutting down privately-run national parks, how about:
1. Forbid the government division from deliberately making the shutdown more obnoxious.
2. Fire any workers who repeat the hijinks of last year, as direct disobedience.
3. Use the initial non-event of the government shutdown to point out the non-essential nature of their jobs.
4. Start paring away government offices like mad, starting with the most progressive and likely to work against the wishes of the current administration?
I'm not hopeful of it ever happening. Seeing they fumbled the easiest, simplest, best response to the whole "the crowds at Obama's inauguration were so much bigger than Trump's" ["Yes. All my supporters work for a living"]. And have twittled stupid responses to every faux crisis since.
But ... it would be an awesome dream.

HOW MANY OF THOSE RESPONDENTS ARE LEGALLY PERMITTED TO RESPOND?
Five Somali soldiers were injured in a roadside blast in Mogadishu.
We're not falling for this, Krayewski.
Nobody's ever said they don't have road sides in Somalia. The roadsides sort of mark out where the roads would be if they had any.
In fact it is all road sides.
In fact it's all road sides in Somalia.
I Berbera they had paved roads. About 100 meters. In front of the (closed down) Russian consulate, which was across from the only gas station in town.

...the first time neither of the two largest parties advance out of the first round.
Probably shouldn't have let them into le debates.
I watched the debates and they were miserable.
There are many tongues to talk, and but few heads to think.
North Korea says it's ready to sink a U.S. aircraft carrier that's supposed to be headed to the area.
North Korea sounds like my wife that I've constructed for this joke. Always just about ready, so quit asking.
After a decade or so, one loses one's attachment to getting anywhere on time ever.
Five Somali soldiers were injured in a roadside blast in Mogadishu.
Only six libertarians are left.
I just realized something this morning.
Donald Trump is the President of the United States of America.
Wrap your head around that one.
I know, old news. But I still haven't gotten my head around the concept.
I still have those moments occasionally. Holy crap, really? That guy?
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
He's a great president ... in the image of Zaphod Beeblebrox.
Shades of 1848!
Isn't about time for a new republic in France? Tat would be ,what,7 or 8?
See, this is how you interfere in other countries' elections. Glory to the Antifa!
If you can't compete for customers, get the government to ruin your competition:
"Hotels make battle plans as Airbnb poses threat"
[...]
"Last year, Airbnb underwent a rough regulatory patch.
The short-term rental company became a Federal Trade Commission target over the summer after three senators asked for an investigation into how companies like Airbnb affect soaring housing costs. In October, Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York signed a bill imposing steep fines on Airbnb hosts who break local housing rules.
The two actions appeared unrelated. But one group quietly took credit for both: the hotel industry."

Trump gets his war, Kim Jong-un gets a solid footnote in history and street cred for sinking an imperialist vessel, and the US gets a lesson why fleet aircraft carriers are the battleships of the new millenium. Win-win-win!
I'd still hate to be ON the carrier, though.
"A new Washington Poll finds the approval rating for President Trump at 42 percent?it also shows 43 percent of respondents saying they'd vote for Trump again and 40 percent saying they'd vote for Hillary Clinton"
It's hard to understand why the stupid, redneck, white, blue collar, hillbillies still support Trump--after we've called them a bunch of stupid hillbillies for supporting him and everything!
I know they think Trump's enemies are a bunch of elitists, but if Trump's supporters don't hate themselves as much as we hate them, that just gives us reason to hate them even more.
After all, the problem isn't our elitism. The problem is that they're a bunch of stupid hillbillies.
P.S. Yeah, I know: Poe's Law. How could you know I was joking when people come to this very site making arguments like that in all seriousness?
Do you realize how pathetic you make Republican voters look with that woe is me bullshit?
"Those dumb rednecks, why won't they agree with our great ideas?" It's like you don't actually think the rednecks might be listening.
Pointing out that elitism may account for the unpopularity of elitists isn't "woe is me" bullshit.
His opponents better take it to heart, too, or they're going to see Donald Trump reelected.
Running against elitists in swing states like Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin is easy.
Running against elitists who are oblivious to their own elitism and broadcast it at every opportunity is even easier still.
Are the progressives still demonizing the white, blue collar, middle class voters the Democrats need to win?
Like, really?!
If winning means they have to stop hating on the white, blue collar, middle class, then I guess they'd rather not win.
What was especially interesting about that poll was to see the responses to their "out of touch" question. Donald Trump was considered "out of touch" by the majority, but the Republicans in general were seen as even more "out of touch" than Trump, and the Democrats were seen as even more "out of touch" than the Republicans. The answers to that question right there perfectly explain everything about the last election.
In other news, Bill Nye shit his pants after being put in a debate with William Happer. Nevermind the fact that Happer's ***science*** credentials are much stronger than Nye's, Nye thinks it's absolutely ludicrous that CNN would have him debate an actual scientist who was a climate change skeptic.
How dare they have him debate someone who doesn't agree with him!?!?!?!?
"And I will say, much as I love the CNN, you're doing a disservice by having one climate change skeptic and not 97 or 98 scientists or engineers concerned about climate change," Nye said.
That consensus of climate scientist just got really watered down when it was turned into "scientists or engineer concerned about climate change". The concerned people may not actually make a better point, but there's a shitload of them so they can be really loud and drown out the skeptic's voice. Sounds about right.

CNN should ditch the skeptic and have at it. 99 scientists and engineers, the one skeptic's speaking fees plus whatever money they all have on them, in order to make the biggest climate impact in the next 30 min.... GO!
It's a fucking sad fact of our society that a non-entity like Bill Nye is taken seriously as a spokesman for science. John once called him "Captain Kangaroo with a Bunsen burner" and that's about the extent of his value as a scientist.
He's great for the "I fucking love Science!" crowd of superficial science trivia morons, but not for advancing the field of scientific knowledge where the real work is done.
I am so stealing that. Although I will probably have to explain "Captain Kangaroo" to most of the maroons I deal with.
Barney? Dora?
Especially since the "I fucking love Science!" crowd tends to look to Jenny McCarthy for medical advice, Woody Harrelson for GMO advice, and Giorgio Tsoukalos for History lessons.
I bet the ideas of the first two were pretty damn well represented at the March for Science (or at least Sciencish Pop Trends).
"it also shows 43 percent of respondents saying they'd vote for Trump again and 40 percent saying they'd vote for Hillary Clinton"
Funny. WINS Newsradio in New York reported the story as Trump having the lowest approval rating in history for a president after 100 days on the job. They left out the part about him outpolling Hillary.
So they can't give us the world in 22 minutes.
How often does anybody even poll the popularity of the losing presidential candidate 100 days into the new administration?
But The Great El Trumpo promised that "Mexico" (i.e. a place) was going to pay for the wall!
Well, so much for that. It was clear everyone was sucked into some new kind of con invented by yet another man from "Niu Yoak".
So there are basically two items on the agenda that we may potentially have a government shutdown over:
1. The border wall,
2. The ObamaCare replacement bill.
The D's don't want either one, but they might cave on one and accept the other.
I will be interested to find out which one our resident Trump supporters are more willing to sacrifice.
Are they more interested in building walls to keep out foreigners, even if it means MORE welfare state, or do they prioritize reducing the welfare state over building walls?
In Hazellworld, everyone who isn't an elitist is a Trump supporter.
Don't worry Ken, nobody will ever mistake you for an elitist.
Oh, but they do, Hazel.
They mistake me for an elitist all the time--until I set them straight.
Being a wildly successful capitalist probably isn't compatible with elitism.
Elitism is fucking idiotic.
