"Your Papers Please" Becomes Harsh Reality for Passengers on Domestic San Francisco to New York Flight
Customs and Border Protection offer only their authority at the border as excuse for demanding papers from citizens on domestic flight in fruitless search for someone "ordered removed by an immigration judge."

Customs and Border Protection (CPB) agents who claim they were looking for an unnamed person they thought might be aboard a flight who has been "ordered removed by an immigration judge" insisted upon seeing identity documents of every passenger on a fully domestic Delta flight (Flight 1583) from San Francisco to New York's JFK Airport on deplaning yesterday.

Rolling Stone has a report, after some of the victimized citizen passengers tweeted about their bizarre and un-American situation.
Although a CPB spokesman insisted to Rolling Stone that this sort of thing is "nothing new," they were unable to offer any actual statutory authority for these border agents to harass citizens on a purely domestic flight.
What they offered Stone was 19 C.F.R. 162.6, containing the statement that "All persons, baggage and merchandise arriving in the Customs territory of the United States from places outside thereof are liable to inspection by a CBP officer." and "CBP has the authority to collect passenger name record information on all travelers entering or leaving the United States."
That does not, of course, apply in any way to this unjust and seemingly illegal harassment of American citizens leaving a plane that started in and landed in the United States.
Officious agents blocking the free movement of a free people with requests for "your papers" were understood in the old, somewhat real America as the depth of tyranny. Just another day now in the war against people who crossed a border illegally though. Never forget: a war on undocumented immigrants by necessity is a war on all of our freedoms of association and movement.

Oooo! Dorherty, throwin' down the gauntlet.
Also, first, bitches!
only if you go about it in the most authoritarian ass backwards ways. There are plenty of passive ways to make illegals life here very hard to survive and not worth living here.
In practice, that's what usually happens.
If the federal govt. is known for anything, it passivity, amiright?
Ah... Hitlery would have been worse.

FUCK THAT! Get a fucking warrant, pig.
And... everyone complied. That is the nature of Americans today.
Up to 1,000 miles (and no ocean), I drive now.
When I was flying from the mid west to LA or San Francisco back in the day I would take two plastic film containers, jam them as full of weed as I could and put one in each front pants pocket with keys and change.
When I got to the metal detector I would empty my pockets of the keys and change and walk right through. I must have done that half a dozen times. I wouldn't even try that now.
Screw flying any way. Last time I did was twenty years ago.
I drive from Sleepytown to California for the holidays now. I stop in Denver for an ounce of legal weed and head for the mountains.
If President Pud has his way it won't be long and there will be Federal Marijuana checkpoints at State Lines and buses waiting to transport recreational users to the nearest Federal Lock Up.
Trump is a pig!

Wonder what would happen if you said no? I assume most people don't have the leisure to be detained by the gestapo until their lawyer shows up and gets them out of custody.
You might also find it more difficult to pass security the next time you fly.
Thugs will thug.
plus you will have to pay for a second plane ticket, which is bullshit.
I would've complied. Especially if I were still too poor to afford an attorney, or even slightly worse read.
You do indeed have to "know your rights," as they are always saying, before you can stand up for them. And I would not have been particularly surprised to find out there were some Federal statute passed at some time between 2001 and the present saying that any Federal agent had the right to ask for identification on a flight or within the security zone. You already have to show ID--in fact, national ID (Real ID)--to enter said zone.
You really do have to be sure about the rules of the game before deciding to play with the Man.
Because if you don't, they now have probable cause.
yea its amazing that using a right is now probable cause even though SCOTUS has ruled that using a right can't be suspicious.
IIRC that is terry s US right? I forget which ruling that was.
They already complied to get to the gate anyway
Lefty tolerance; always in evidence:
"California state senator removed after criticizing Tom Hayden"
[...]
"A Republican legislator and Vietnamese refugee was dragged from the state Senate floor Thursday morning when a Democratic leader ordered her removed after she tried to criticize the late Tom Hayden, a former state senator and vocal opponent of the war in Vietnam."
http://www.sfgate.com/politics.....955105.php
Hayden was a low-level twit, never doing any serious harm, but to be held above criticism via coercion is indeed a new level of US lefty thuggery.
Weren't you shooting at Vietnamese once? Thugs will thug, I guess.
I was. Nah, wait, those were Viennese. You kids today, posting about freedom from your iPhones and your TRS-80s--you don't know nothing about freedom until you've faced down the Austro-Hun to save worldwide democracy.

No, you fucking scumbag, I never did.
You, OTOH are more than willing to pay the government to hire someone who will.
Scumbags will thug, scumbag.
dont just blame lefts...rightys do it too....everyone does it. It is a serious issue.
Cite missing.
Yes, if only there were a recent prominent incident where a Republican legislature had someone silenced for criticizing a Republican legislator that SomeGuy might have been referencing.
1. Rolling Stone
2. Coming from communist SF.
3. Don't you have to show id to get on flight?
4. Fuck the popo.
Perhaps the CBP thought California had seceded from the US and treating flights from SF as originating from foreign soil. Believe most would want to say fuck off if asked for ID, yet the hassle factor of being detained..."if I had the time".
OT: Only 17% of all Americans want to repeal Obamacare (Pew Research Feb 23, 2017)
http://www.pewresearch.org/fac.....ealthcare/
Hilarious.
What I find most bizarre is that 85 percent of Democrats, and the majority of Americans and Independents, indicated that want to make no modification to Obamacare law. That is a position that Obama himself, and Hillary and other rock-ribbed ACA supporters, have disclaimed.
Yes, there are obvious improvements that could be made.
But consider this - the ACA only covers about 25 million people. So 275 million people are not directly effected by the law.
The law became a symbol for partisanship.
Go fuck your daddy, turd.
What on earth? 275 million people not affected by the law? Please explain!
The vast majority of us have Medicare, the VA, federal, or employer based health insurance.

"The vast majority of us have Medicare, the VA, federal, or employer based health insurance."
Parasite: NOUN
an organism that lives in or on another organism (its host) and benefits by deriving nutrients at the host's expense.
Not "us", turd. You.
"The vast majority of us have Medicare, the VA, federal, or employer based health insurance."
So essentially, ACA did not dramatically reduce the uninsurance rate. Most people have insurance through their work and some uninsured are in medicaid, which is NOT insurance.
People submitted silent returns for years under Obama. Now Trump has extended that policy and encouraged the IRS to reduce the ACA burden on the American people. I highly doubt that the IRS will actively target people who leave the healthcare statue of their return blank. That, plus insurers exiting the exchange means the law is half way dead.
Yeh, let's ignore them premiums.
Or the "not really" plans, for the young people, especially young males--those poor stupid souls who have been left "uninsured" by their decision not to pay for coverage they do not need so that rich old people can save money "insuring" themselves against routine expenses.
Something you know nothing about - you single-payer loving Canuck.
You've never paid a premium in your life.
Oooo, no he di-int!
Which completely excuses me from discussing it because I'm incapable of reading what goes on.
But it sounds like I understand it better than you do.
So that pathetic deflection aside, did premiums go up and affect millions or not?
Were premiums going up before the popular ACA program was enacted?
Not by triple and quadruple amounts.
I notice this is a new lefty trick. But it was going up and the ACA 'controlled' the costs!!

"Were premiums going up before the popular ACA program was enacted?"
Ooh, ooh, look!
Fucking lefty ignoramus hopes that the disaster might not be as bad as the earlier government-caused disaster and hopes someone will help him find data!
Fuck you, you slimy piece of shit! If you have a claim, make it and back it up. Or, better, fuck off.
I went from gold to bronze for the same price in one year
or
went from gold to silver and went up 40% in one year and gold isn't een offered. I pay $320 per month for 40% coinsurance with a 7,000 deductible and like 15 grand catastrophic cap.
This is a BCBS of IL plan that is PPO. I have PPO so i use TRICARE as secondary since TRICARE is 100% shit. Its great as secondary. I pay 240 a year for it and it picks up whatever my total shit PPO doesn't.
thats not counting the previous years. That's just 2016-2017...shit.
I've got tritogetcare as well. I 'use' it to be Obamacare exempt, go to the dr every other year. It's saved me probably $30,000 or more by avoiding the ACA, if I need any work done I've saved a ton of cash and can just pay for it.

"Something you know nothing about - you single-payer loving Canuck.

Gee, turd, I guess you can't know anything about abysmal stupidity unless we're as stupid as you.
Fuck off; you're a parasite worthy of being caught in a spring trap.
lol go fuck yourself
You . . . you don't know what a premium is.
I suppose you're right though - premiums are *voluntary*. Rufus has had his 'fair share' of 'the nation's' medical costs forcibly taken from him at gunpoint with no effective say in the matter other than 'pay-up or die'.
Pretty much.
He's not very bright or nuanced.
But consider this - the ACA only covers about 25 million people
When they were first debating PPACA, the numbers seemed to change almost weekly- first it was 40 million uninsured, then 43 million uninsured, then 49 million uninsured.
So, subtracting the 16 million new Medicaid welfare recipients from each side-- that means 9 million out of between 24-33 million actually buying insurance 7+ yrs later despite $1 trillion in subsidies.
"It's a moral imperative!"
More than 8% though.
and i bet 99.9999% of them dont even comprehend the slightest bit about the law.
Also did you ever pay up?
Your papers because Trump.
So I'm on a cross-country flight with my mother-in-law last night, and CBP comes up to her and says, show me your papers. And I says to them, papers? Fella, she's lookin' pretty well groomed tonight, I'll give you that, but anyone can see this one ain't exactly got show lineage... Oh! Thank you, thank you.
At least the AKC does't require you to carry or show papers without probably cause.
this practice has been around long before Trump. Several years ago I and my family were stopped on 91 in VT about 30 miles south of the Canadian border by border patrol. They were looking for someone. We could have been coming from another town in VT so not everyone stopped came across the border
It's not true. Every started with Trump.
#notmypresident
everything
Certainly didn't start with Trump, but it does look like ICE has been emboldened by his nutty rhetoric.
People didn't hesitate to show ID because they had to show it to get on the plane.
Odd that they didn't seem to know the exact seat number of the person they were theoretically searching for.
it was a blatant abuse of power. It doesn't pass basic logic. How many times do you show some sort of ID to get on that plan? I believe 3 times or at least Ohare it is.
At O'hare or any other airport, once. At the TSA checkpoint. If it's a domestic flight, that's the only time my ID is ever presented.
Also, I think it is legal for them to arrest you for failing to show ID so long as the cop thinks it is legal. Or some bullshit like that.
You are referring to SCOTUS December 2014 ruling. Cops are allowed to not know the law and it sticks.
I might consider actually not showing ID and let them waste their time while the actual person they were looking for gets away - proving that they only care about thugging rather than actually carrying out a specific task.
haha good on you. I always troll the cops and waste their time. More time they waste on me less they can troll others. Haven't been pulled over for years but if i am I will make it take hours with trolling him with questions and soldiering him. If i get a ticket might as well make him work for it and try to trap him saying something stupid to get it thrown out.
I want to be in your car (with nowhere urgent that I want to be) when this happens, just to watch you work it.
Several years ago I and my family were stopped on 91 in VT about 30 miles south of the Canadian border by border patrol. They were looking for someone. We could have been coming from another town in VT so not everyone stopped came across the border. So it is conceivable this was legal. Also I heard a few years ago DHS was planning on checking people boarding train.
Actually, I think that stop was right about the 100 mile limit from the Canuk border, just a few miles south of the 89/91 crossing at White River Jct. They wanted to search my car one time until my dog started going cujo on them through the glass. The only thing they ever got out of that stop was a few people with drugs. Thankfully when Obama came in it was quickly closed and the parking/rest area has been upgraded such that its less accomodating to the gestapo.
Ah come on! I get asked to show my ID every time I buy beer or cigarettes. What are they complaining about?
Didn't you read the article? This is the deepest fear of all Americans as we descend into a fascist hellhole.
The worst thing about Trump is that he has normalized tyranny. While they're may or may not be a legitimate reason to demand citizenship documents from passengers boarding a flight, you better believe that the progs will continue this abuse of power when its their turn. Maybe not for passports, but I can see them searching everyone for something they don't like (tobacco, guns, etc.)
They already do this
you have to show ID to get on a plane, they make you take your stupid fucking shoes off AND they search you and your shit without a fucking warrant or probable cause just because you're flying and YOU'RE fucking upset because they asked one more time for ID in search of a potential criminal? Air travel is a constitutional rights free zone and citizen or not, showing ID one more time isn't a big fucking deal in this situation. Calm the fuck down.
Why is it a natural rights free zone? Hummm Is it the magical invisible ink section under the commerce clause called FYTW?
I agree the whoop-la about this is retarded because if they bitch about this why not bitch about the whole fucking system? Its also just as ridiculous they are asking for IDs for like the 4th time.
ID to get ticket
ID to go past 1st TSA Agent (retard)
ID for 2nd retard
plane ticket and ID for boarding (this might only be international last flight was to Japan...dont recall)
3 or 4 times already....why another?
When I fly on internal flights in Europe I generally show my ID a grand total of zero times.
And the threat of terrorism in Europe, I would assume, is significantly higher than in the US. Still the Europeans seem to understand that terrorism just isn't a very big threat on a day to day basis, even in countries hosting millions of angry unemployed Muslim immigrants. When did Americans become such pussies?
Exactly. It is show theater and exactly what the hajjis want.
That's why they're such easy targets for terrorism. The terrorist who hit France (a no gun zone) used assault rifles that were smuggled in nearby hostile region.
I have some cousins and acquaintances living in Europe. I hear their bureaucracy is LEGENDARILY bad and inept. When Brussels was hit the holes in security were thoroughly exposed. And the perpetrators belong to the same terror cell that hit France, and some of them were already wanted figures in Europe.

Honest question: I know how much my employer pays for our employer based health care insurance. It's about 13,000 per year. If California enacts universal health care-- estimated to cost 9,600/year-- and I get what my company pays in health care expenses in the form of an increase in wages how much of that amount can I put forward to making America great by funding the border wall with Mexico?
GLEEMORE?|2.23.17 @ 11:40PM|#
"Honest question:"
Fuck you with a rusty chain saw. You wouldn't know "honest" if your wife finally pointed out that you're a parasite.
Fuck off.
If California enacts universal health care-- estimated to cost 9,600/year
Remember when your low-speed choo-choo train was only going to cost $68 Billion when you voted for it? What's the latest.estimate? Last I heard it was over $200 billiun- and they ain't built shit yet.
Blaine is a pain. And that's the truth.
If California enacts universal healthcare, the price of gas will be more than 5 dollars and effective taxation will hit millions of people who previously paid zero income tax. The kind of taxes your employer would have to pay to universal healthcare would render the amount of their healthcare contribution a moot point.
Yawn...Tens of thousands of American citizens are asked to show their papers everyday at Border Patrol interior checkpoints throughout the Southwest.
Which is also unconstitutional.
Yeah, I was going to say if you have lived in San Diego you've had to endure this sort of thing with the Border Patrol's roadside checkpoints. It doesn't make it any less terrible though.
I used to work for the federal government and even when you go through in a vehicle with US government plates, they still go through their little fascist routine.
Not if it's within 100 linear miles from a border it ain't.
"Your papers, please" (Papiere, bitte) is a stock line of Nazi SS characters in a World War II movie.
TSA and other federal agents have dispensed with pleasantries like "please".
Yes, the Gestapo officers were certainly more pleasant in WWII movies. The TSA? Only if you're lucky.
I've seen a TSA agent demanding "your papers please" at the boarding gate of a domestic San Jose to LA flight. Not sure why they needed to check them again after we had already gone through security.
"Reporters from The Times, BuzzFeed News, CNN, The Los Angeles Times and Politico were not allowed to enter the West Wing office of the press secretary, Sean M. Spicer, for the scheduled briefing. Aides to Mr. Spicer only allowed in reporters from a handpicked group of news organizations that, the White House said, had been previously confirmed."
Can I Godwin here or would I get a tongue-lashing?
Hmmm, where's John to explain that we must be prepared to pay any price and bear any burden to prevent the possibility of a undocumented immigrant being allowed to wander around unmolested?
Just where would the authorities draw the line here? Just being on a plane where a suspect MIGHT be is enough to be searched now? Unless this person was an imminent danger to the public, this is nuts. What next, a sports stadium full of people? People on their way to vote? Oh, wait...
I live in hope of someday reading such a story that ends with "citizen's arrest". Unlawful imprisonment under color of authority is still a felony, I believe, even if the officers would get off on the N?rnberg Defense.
