    Norma McCorvey, the anonymous plaintiff...

    Not very.

    1. Rufus The Monocled   8 years ago

      Hello.

"Donald Trump has picked Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster to be his new national security adviser."

I read that as Rational security adviser.

Well, non-mature raisins are just grapes....

  2. Bee Tagger   8 years ago

The British government is defending its decision to invite President Donald Trump for an official visit.

And yet Michael Savage is sitting on his couch looking like a fool #smh

    1. UnCivilServant   8 years ago

Alienating the US while in a divorce proceeding with the EU would give the Eurocrats a stronger negotiating position. May is no fool, even if she dislikes the current administration, she's going to present a strong appearance of alliance to keep on sure footing in disentangling from brussels.

  3. Fist of Etiquette   8 years ago

Right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos has been disinvited to this year's Conservative Political Action Conference...

Oh, no! Milo found himself in the news again. I feel for him.

    1. Libertarian   8 years ago

It's okay, you can feel for him. Assuming you're over 18, that is.

      1. Anomalous   8 years ago

I don't think that would be a dealbreaker for Milo.

I must have missed the quote where he denied being a pederast.

    2. Tejicano   8 years ago

I have to admit that I have not watched a lot of Milo's alt-right diatribes but it tickles me to see the left confronted with his persona. I mean, right smack-dab in the middle of their Trump-ageddon, the meltdown of their political world, they are forced to deal with a spokesman for the right who not only has the correct British accent and intellect but is gay as well! He has the appearance of the poster child for their side, but flying the wrong colors! I can see that he is just too much for them at this particular point in political time - and it has me giggling.

Jaw-droppingly stupid take on "America's opioid crisis"?..

    http://www.nationalreview.com/.....ion-crisis

Yes, yes, let's FURTHER stigmatize painkillers and make it HARDER to get legitimate treatment for chronic pain, while at the same time bolstering arguments FOR the WoD, and simultaneously endorsing arbitrarily using government as a cudgel for social engineering!!!

    IT'S A THREEFER!!!!!!

    Seriously, this is WEAPONS-GRADE stupidity?.

    1. Rhywun   8 years ago

The part about being dependent on government is spot-on.

    2. chemjeff   8 years ago

I don't see it that way. I think Geraghty's main point here is that Medicaid unintentionally subsidizes opioid abuse. Of course the correct solution is not to have a Medicaid program at all. But if we are going to have a Medicaid program, I don't think it is unreasonable to place limits on how that money may be spent particularly when it comes to addictive substances.

      1. XenoZooValentine   8 years ago

The current war on pain meds is one of the dumbest fucking things the government has inflicted on us in a while.

There are people in this world who actually need these meds, possibly for the rest of their lives, and our asshole Top Men are making them jump through hoops and treating them like criminals because it plays well in the papers.

I'd like to break their spines with a sledgehammer, and tell them to take two aspirin and call me in the morning.

        1. commodious rebrands   8 years ago

ast week, my two stepsons' father, a man who loved life, killed himself. I would like to tell you why.

Two years ago, a 62-year-old father of three named Bruce Graham was standing on a ladder, inspecting his roof for a leak, when the ladder slipped out from under him. He landed on top of the ladder, on his back, breaking several ribs, puncturing a lung, and tearing his intestine, which wasn't detected until he went into septic shock. Following surgery, he lapsed into a two-week coma.

In retrospect, it's unfortunate that he awoke from that coma, because for all intents and purposes, his life ended with that fall. Not because his mind was affected; his mind was completely intact until the moment he took his life. His life ended because, while modern medicine was adept enough to keep him alive, it was unable or unwilling to help him deal with the excruciating pain that he experienced over the next two years. And life in constant, excruciating pain, with no hope of ever alleviating it, is not worth living.

Well put. That was one of the things l took away as well. Hopefully, sometime in the near future they will federally de-schedule marijuana.

          1. Fascist loofa-faced shitgibbon   8 years ago

            Maybe in the year 2000.

            1. XenoZooValentine   8 years ago

But then we'll all get stoned and crash our flying cars!

          2. dan'o en barrel   8 years ago

Descheduling mj isn't likely to be liberation event I thought it was... I recently read that it would mean FDA regulation for medicinal use. Studies to verify each treatment use will be required- possibly for each strain. I suppose if it was completely removed from the schedule that it could exist as most herbal remedies, but that seems unlikely any time soon.

            1. XenoZooValentine   8 years ago

They don't want to just let people sell it the same way people sell pretty much everything else in this world, because that would be roadless Somalian anarchy I guess. Oh well, baby steps.

              1. dan'o en barrel   8 years ago

I'm left wondering if state-by-state recreational legalization isn't the best case scenario. Its true that US studies are hindered by schedule I classification, but research teams from other nations (especially Israel) are putting in some serious work to verify/debunk treatment claims.

      1. Monty Crisco   8 years ago

Many of us believed that Barack Obama was doing great damage to America. And now we are convinced that he did more damage than any other two-term president to America domestically, to America's position the world, and to the world at large. He left office with racial tensions ? many of which he exacerbated ? greater than at any time since the civil-rights era half a century ago. He left the world's worst regimes ? Iran, China, Russia, North Korea, Islamist terror groups ? stronger and more aggressive than they were before he became president. Economic growth never rose above 3 percent, a first for a two-term president. He doubled the national debt, with little or nothing to show for it. Obamacare hurt more people financially than it helped medically. More people than ever are on government aid.

But we handled his tenure like mature adults. Most obviously, we didn't riot. In fact, in America, rioting ? not to mention shutting down highways and airports, taking over college offices, and protesting at people's homes ? is a monopoly of the left. Nor did we allow our children to take a day off from school to demonstrate. Nor did we as teachers preach opposition to Obama in our classrooms. Nor did we print posters declaring "Not My President." Nor did our clergy declare fast days.

Moreover, the left has done ALL of this after fervently exhorting Trump supporters NOT to do ANY of it as a moral imperative integral to the strength of our republic.

        1. american socialist   8 years ago

          The left projects...it is known

Liquor stores don't *want* to be open on Sunday.

But if you are open, then *I* have to be open.

        1. UnCivilServant   8 years ago

Funny, my liquor store is open on Sundays. They close at 6pm.

I only remember because it was somehow surprising when I found out.

Been gone for a week or two. Where the fuck did everyone go?

    1. XenoZooValentine   8 years ago

There's been kind of a "commenter revolt" going on.

A lot of the regulars are displeased with the editorial direction and have migrated to other forums.

I notice there's yet another gap in the comments on another thread.

That handle was a dangerous mix of socks and puppetry.
