Keith Scott Shooting Body Cam Footage Released
But no body cam footage from the cop who actually shot Keith Scott

Police in Charlotte have released footage from a body camera and a dashcam of the police shooting of Keith Scott last Tuesday. The footage does not appear to strengthen the police's "version of the truth," as the police chief previously claimed. A gun cannot be seen in Scott's hand, let alone being brandished or pointed at police. The police chief insisted Scott had a gun. "He absolutely was in possession of a handgun," the police chief said at a press conference prior to releasing the video. Police are seen on camera placing handcuffs on Scott after shooting him.
Police also say Scott first drew their attention because he had marijuana in his car—they do not explain how they knew that, and it appears to be the first time police claim to have known Scott was in possession of marijuana before engaging him. They maintain they only approached Scott after seeing him with a gun.
While police say they have footage from only one body camera, there were at least five police officers on the scene when one of the officers shot Scott. There is no body camera footage from that officer. Charlotte police began to use body cameras a year ago, and in the first eight month only one out of four fatal shootings were caught on body camera.

Police also say Scott first drew their attention because he had marijuana in his car
Which completely justifies escalating the situation and killing him.
How did they know he had marijuana in his car?
A cop can sense the odor or marijuana from like, a mile away even if it isnt there.

marijuana? = die weed-crazed hippie scum!
gun? = die confederate 2nd amendment racist....errr i mean superpredator gang banger scum
dog? = die canine scum!
donut? = mmmmm
They saw him rolling a joint, according to the police.
Considering they don't know what a gun looks like in a peasant's hand the blunt could be a cigarette or a pencil for all we know
How do they know it was a joint? My grandpappy rolled his own. Never got shot by a pig.
They know, Frank. They just know.
White privilege.
So, he was rollin', they was hatin'?
"We came. We saw. He died."
*cackle*

FTFY
His windows are heavily tinted. And the cops were sitting in a lower car. How could they have seen him rollin a doobie on his lap?
They have a superhuman sense of smell and can detect the exact location of shake from a mile away.
They sensed the strong presence of drugs == death justified.
"My dog smelled the weed from the inside of your car!" -- Devin the Dude pretending to be a small-town cop
Didn't you see? They were right next to the truck. They were beating on the windows. They sure didn't look too scared then.
The war on drugs goes on,a man dead over a 'blunt'.
And BLM could care less about the WOD, it's all about race, man, because massahs said so.
Yeah, that really serves to put the tin lid on the tone-deaf CPD responses. There are fewer people these days who will make that leap from marijuana to dangerous.
So it was the marijuana use that led them to keep Gary Johnson out of the presidential debate....
He's a bad dude.
The marijuana use and his general creepiness.
CMPD claimed the video showed evidence of a gun that didn't pan out. So now its attack the victim time first float his criminal record then say he was taking drugs.
The initial stories from the family and PD made no sense. The family's side had holes. But it seems pretty clear that the PD was bluffing about their video evidence and their version
No, it doesn't. The situation got escalated when they saw a gun in his hand, which I think does justify escalation?
Let me see. If there was no justification for bothering him in the first place then no - their seeing a gun in his had was not justification for escalating the situation.
So we've moved the goalposts from "no justification for escalating" to "no justification for bothering". I see.
Is this another instance of Reasonoids saying that because they don't like the drug laws, cops are unjustified in enforcing them?
Fuck off Tulpa!
"Is this another instance of Reasonoids saying that because they don't like the drug laws, cops are unjustified in enforcing them?"
The cops were ignoring the mj. They should be fired for that, according to your logic.
Gun possession is legal. Why did the cops freak out BEFORE Scott did anything shady?
Gun possession in your hand sure isn't.
Oh really?
North Carolina is a shall issue State with a duty to inform.
There appear to be no State laws against open carry.
There are references to a State preemption law, which suggest but do not guarantee, that Municipal laws may not preempt State law.
The only site claiming to be about Charlotte gun law appears to be an anti-gun propaganda site with links that redirect to a home improvement site. It's a great site for antis who just want their biases reinforced and aren't going to look too closely.
In other words, at a reasonable search level it would appear that gun possession in your hand is not strictly speaking illegal in North Carolina. Of course waving a gun at a cop is always a very stupid thing to do.

Four fatal shootings in a year? Yikes.
Isn't that low for a cop?
This is... so strange. Out of all the angles available, Fox News ran with this.
More like, there's probably thirty dozen articles on the shooting and riots up on Fox already, but that this is one of those options seemed odd.
I see it's AP. Prolly just run with anything they spit out.
Why would you expect Adrian Peterson to have sane views on anything?
When people work two jobs but don't make enough to own a home, they get discouraged, and seeing video after video of black men dying makes them lose hope and start to wonder if they matter to society, [ the Rev. William Barber, president of the North Carolina NAACP] said.
Is that so?
And here we have an example of a left wing Christian giving Christianity a bad name by being a riot apologist
I didn't know the Pope spoke about this issue.
But no body cam footage from the cop who actually shot Keith Scott
Makes the cops look worse, I suppose.
I'm guessing there's no footage showing a gun. Otherwise they would have immediately released it, wouldn't they?
That's a reasonable assumption.
It's a good thing they hold the video back until they have gotten statements from all the witnesses - prevents witnesses from adjusting their accounts.
If the cops got a chance to see the video that would be a miscarriage of justice. THATs the question to ask the Chief.
Did he have a gun or not? If he did then the cops were right to shoot him. If not, then the cops have a problem. It is really that simple
The cops were right to shoot him because he 'had' a gun?
Look, the guy's dead already. Nothing you can do about that. So what difference, at this point, does it make?
I like that line of thinking. It has a presidential quality to it
If he had a gun in his hand. They had no right to shoot him if it was holstered. I believe the recovered weapon was in, or was associated with an ankle holster.
That is what I meant. In his hand. Not just anywhere on him.
They had no right to shoot him unless he was pointing the gun at them or at the very least, trying to draw it in an attempt to shoot at them.
It's impossible to tell anything from that video, which makes me think that the cop with the cam on him was deliberately trying to shield the officer who fired from the line of sight of the video. Funny thing is though, that the family member who filmed the affair seemed to be doing the exact same thing.
So what we have here is a clear cut case of and.nothing.else.happened.
They had no right to shoot him unless he was pointing the gun at them or at the very least, trying to draw it in an attempt to shoot at them.
Since the gun was in his hand, it was already "drawn".
You'd have to be an idiot to wait for the gun to be pointed at you before you fire.
If they saw a gun in his hand - which isn't actually illegal - and still had time to draw their own weapons, check line-of-fire, aim, and shoot *first*, then they had time to take cover and contain the situation.
That's some interesting logic. If you have time to shoot before being shot, you shouldn't shoot at all? Interesting school of self-defense there. Lines up with your confusion of concealment with cover (cover doesn't appear available anywhere in the video).
Pretty sure brandishing a gun is illegal in NC, btw.
There was cover all over the place. You can even see a cop kneel down behind a vehicle, which was presumably to take cover.
Modern vehicles are mostly plastic and very sparse metal. Not cover.
I hate agreeing with this incarnation of Tulpa---seriously, stick with one fucking name already---but he's right. Cars aren't cover for handgun bullets..
Guy leaves his car, holding what may or may not be a tiny Colt .380 in his right hand (the video is shit, and I can be convinced either way that he had such a small pistol in his hand), after multiple cops, uniformed and plainclothes are screaming at him to drop the weapon? I'm not seeing the problem with the shooting here, unlike the one in Tulsa.
Cops shouldn't be conducting raids with plainclothes officers---raid vests or not---but that's a different point of contention.
stick with one fucking name already
Sure, once people stop filtering names of posters they disagree with.
The photos and video over at Daily Mail clearly show the ankle holster in question, and in the body cam video, what appears to be the same holster is visibly attached to his right ankle. You can in some frames see the thin strap of the holster flapping loose, and there is no visible protrusion of the butt of the pistol from the holster, so this would suggest that the pistol was not in the ankle holster at the time.
If not in the holster, where was the pistol? Possibly in his hand, but equally possibly in the vehicle or already dropped on the ground.
" I believe the recovered weapon was in, or was associated with an ankle holster."
WTF is "associated with"? Sounds like copspeak.
The reports I read were that he was discovered to be wearing an ankle holster. Never a mention that the gun was in the holster.
No. If the weapon was holstered-bad shoot. If the cops "unholstered" the weapon after the shooting that would be "tampering with a crime scene" to cover up a bad shoot. It doesn't appear to be what happened but the cops are doing a shitty PR job.
From the Chief's statement, the cops are claiming he was holding the gun (holding = in his hand), so the holster is moot.
the gun and the holster were in a private personal relationship.
Mere possession of a firearm justifies no action by the police. If the law differs, the law is wrong.
No in his hand. Context. Context. We are talking about the confrontation. Did he have a gun? A gun in his shoe doesn't count as having a gun.
I thought that was clear
John, that is not clear at all. A gun in his shoe doesn't count as having a gun? Please. The issue is whether or not he was threatening the cops with a gun, which means a gun was in clear sight and he was either already pointing the gun at the cops or he was clearly attempting to draw the weapon to threaten them.
If he had it in hand, was ordered to drop it, and continued holding it, that's threat enough.
Not for me it isn't. You have several cops who have already drawn on him. If those cops have such fucking bad gun skills that they cannot take down a guy when they already have a target painted on him if he attempts to draw on them, then they had better go into a profession that doesn't involve shooting.
If the gun was in his hand, he had already "drawn".
Except that the cops very likely didn't have the authority to start issuing those commands.
Cops don't have blanket freedom to issue 'lawful' commands. There are very specific situations and not just 'because we were trying to gain control of a confrontation we didn't have the authority to start in the first place'.
You try telling that to Maxwell Smart.
Smart had a telephone in his shoe. A gun, too?
The cops yelled at him eleven times in 45 seconds leading up to the shooting him to drop the gun (according to transcript of wife's video from NYT). His wife is yelling at her husband "don't do this, don't you do this." Police say witnesses at the scene also state that he had a gun. Cops at the scene recovered a gun with his finger prints and blood. The guy has a long history of violence.
You're guessing that her "don't do this" comments were directed at her husband. They could just as easily have been directed at the cops.
If you listen to her video, she's clearly saying it to her husband.
Yeah, I heard the family attorney trying to spin that one. That dog don't hunt. She clearly calls him by name and asks him not to do this. There is no ambiguity on that front.
Is this sarcasm?
I have a gun in the nightstand right next to my bed. I sure hope that the cops don't find out about it and cap my ass the next time I'm out for a drive.

Seriously, what are the real odds that the planet we happen to live on is the only one with intelligent life in a universe that we don't even know the true scale of, but what we can see of it is mind boggling huge. If we are the only intelligent life in the universe, then I think it would prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that we are living in a computer simulation, as has been proposed by some.
Real question is how intelligent is the other intelligent life? Are we talking dogs and velociraptors or actual city building motherfuckers who can exit their own atmosphere?
Plus, traveling the necessary distance may be genuinely impossible, making it all irrelevant.
Imagine that if there are intelligent beings out there who have a few billion years on us technology wise. We would be like piss ants to them, they wouldn't pay any attention to us at all. They might be observing us, but would have no more interest in us than a scientist today would have in observing the behavior of insects. Distance would be meaningless to them since they would likely be immortal.
One ideas is that posthuman entities end up retreating into virtualities and eventually forget that 'base' reality even exists or can't recognize it. They become Lotus Eaters. fast computation speeds means they could spend the subjective equivalent of several universe's lifetimes before there's even a problem for them - and for most stars that would still be a billion or so years in the future.
Here's one way to guess.
The distance between civilizations, even if only a few light years, would mean it's probably impossible for a radio signal of any type that we broadcast to ever reach another civilization intact. Which means, we won't know they are there by trying to detect radio signals.
Radio frequency *lasers* - not broadcast. But even with broadcast its possible, just a matter of either transmitter power or receiver sensitivity. We can build some incredibly sensitive receivers and an advanced civilization will have access to sufficient power sources for their interstellar comm gear.
You know that dude who wants to build all those tiny little probes and boost them by laser to Alpha Centauri? We could detect the laser that would be needed to do that from that distance easy (assuming we were in its cone).
Laser light of any frequency really stands out also as all the photons in that beam have a tight spectrum spike.
I think Hyp's point is that by the time your laser message travels for 4 billion years, any civilization that might have existed to receive the message have either been engulfed by their star or moved somewhere else that your message has not yet reached. With a laser, the latter possibility becomes more probable since your message isn't rippling out across the pond of the universe but more spatially confined.
It's only been a few years now that we've known that not only are their planets around nearly all other stars, but that earth like planets are actually common. There has to be billions of earth like planets in our own galaxy. And planets that are around orange and red dwarf stars may survive in an almost constant state for many billions of years. I think our sun has about a 4-5 billion year life span, but smaller cooler suns may be stable for 15-30 billion years.
'earthlike' is a misnomer or rather, a very *technical* term. Venus is earthlike, so is Mars. So are planets with 10g at the surface. So are planets that have reducing atmospheres.
No earthlike planet is going to survive the *change* into an orange or red dwarf. Our sun has a 4-5 billion year *more* life as a yellow star before it swells into a red giant and that will spell the end of all the life like us on this planet. It entirely possible that the sun will swell large enough in this phase that the earth will actually be in its out atmosphere.
The reality is we simply don't have enough data to even begin to speculate. And even if life is common - none of it is likely to be anything we can interact with.
Apes or angels, never men. That's all we'll find. Super advanced effectively post-human level species who may not even notice our existence any more than we notice the existence of bacteria normally or ape-men - barely sapient species still picking lice out of their hair.
Earth started with a reducing atmosphere. The current atmosphere is biogenic.
Actually the temperature of the sun in a mere one billion years or so will be too high for life to exist on Earth unless its inhabitants are able to move it to a more distant orbit.
The Drake Equation is an interesting way to frame the problem. But we have no data to intelligently estimate the various factors. We are just starting to learn about the frequent of planets in the Goldilocks zone.
At this point it's all just guesses.
I've seen no evidence of intelligent life here.
technically it was a tie
...i have yet to be convinced there's any intelligent "life" in the universe, and maybe its only just a 2-3 dudes at any given time, 1 of whom is Agile Cyborg.
This guy was probably one of them
The argument goes that if we're not the first (or only) technologically advanced intelligent life we probably are "living" in a computer simulation.
I think that is backwards.
Not at all. Given the increase in pace of technological advance we've been experiencing, unless it ends soon, we are either alone, living in a simulation, or will be the ones to dismantle the galaxy and turn it into a computer to run that simulation.
Actually, multiple simulations. All possible pasts simulated, all possible humans live and live again.
Is there any evidence that the universe is a simulation? - other than the hubris of computer nerds.
Complete bunkum.
Things tend to happen never, once, or a fuck huge number of times.
We only have one data point and that's not enough to extrapolate but consider this - its entirely possible that, given the size and age of the universe that we are the only intelligent life in existence *right now*. 10 million years ago one or more civilizations may have flourished and died out, 10 million years from now, long after we've gone extinct another set may arise.
Plus, the galaxy is something like 150,000 LY in diameter. Even someone only 1% of that distance away from us has a 1,500 year communications delay - if they came into existence and developed at the same rate as us we still wouldn't hear from them for another 1,500 years. If they came into radio 1,500 years ago and managed to survive to the present - we wouldn't want to be noticed by them anyway. And an intelligent species 1,500 years younger would be completely irrelevant to us - we couldn't talk to them or interact in any way.
Things tend to happen never, once, or a fuck huge number of times.
I think that trend is probably dependent on the scale we observe. On a stellar scale, the life and death of stars, where does the death of a star fall on that scale? It's more than once, but I don't know if I'd call it a "fuckton" since it's only a tiny fraction that die every millennium, while a hundred billion stars continue to shine throughout the galaxy.
And an intelligent species 1,500 years younger would be completely irrelevant to us - we couldn't talk to them or interact in any way.

Police are a hammer and every problem looks like a nail. The problem is, you're attracting to the police force the kinds of people who like hitting nails. Hire some people with people skills, change the law-and-order respect my authoritah culture. Cops are dealing with all sorts of larger social issues as well as a lot of individual psychological issues that they're really not trained for or capable of handling. Quit trying to force that square peg in the round hole and stop a minute to ask if it's really necessary the peg go into any hole at all. Some poor guy with mental issues smoking some dope and you gotta shoot him? Why do you think he might see the cops and immediately perceive them as a threat? Has he or anybody he knows ever had an encounter with the cops where they've been offered the address of the nearest low-cost mental health center, a job-training service, a charity organization that offers some help, a bologna sandwich, even a kind word of sympathy or encouragement? If you can't help him, at least leave him the hell alone.
That 'attraction' you print with your fingers is far more clever than most imagine. The system is engineered to not only attract but impulse a certain psychological trajectorial compilation into organized militant meshes across the many miles of geography that serves the hunting fields of a billion dollar fucking system called unionized goddamn policing- within.the.united.states.of.murica-praise le gods. All while the authoritarian right and left wings gaze out of their gated communities onto their dove-tailing societal fingers spreading the decay of sunsets like bullets gently glazing and popping the veins and hearts of those careless with drugs, brushes, thoughts, actions, and disorders.

Oh sweet, naive Jerry. You are too innocent for this poor world.
Let him go,he's on a roll.
I think his point is that the pig-citizen interface has become dehumanized on both sides. Pigs see citizens as statistics, we see pigs as killing machines.
Community policing, where cops had numerous innocuous interactions with citizens, can help humanize both sides of the interface. Police should be walking beats, bicycling around, talking with people. Not driving around in mini tanks.
People with people skills are going into safer and more remunerative occupations than police work. If you want to raise the taxes as necessary to get the best and brightest to wade through human waste every day and occasionally get shot at, make that argument.
Police have ALWAYS been rough guys. We just notice it more now because of video becoming more omnipresent.

I'm in Charlotte and a local had a LEO on. I caught the tailens of the session but the LEO specifically wanted to put out that an officer put pressure on the chest wound. See everyone police care. That officer deserves a public servant of the year award

What is the purpose of invading Mohammedan dictatorships, if not to justify training unemployable idiots to bully and kill on unquestioned orders from politicians and entrenched military interests?
BLM and other blacks who are concerned about this had better pull their fucking heads out of their asses and stop making this all about race, because if they don't, this is only going to get worse. Most of the country have to get enraged about this enough to make something happen. The protesters in Charlotte were attacking innocent people just because they were white. How fucking stupid can they be? And as the libertarian candidate, Gary Johnson needs to be making this issue forefront and explaining to the masses that this has nothing to do with race. If he does not do this, he has failed big time in trying to represent libertarians.
"Gary Johnson needs to be making this issue forefront and explaining to the masses that this has nothing to do with race."
I would like this to happen, I am not holding my breath.
Ending the war on drugs and demanding police be taught to deescalate a situation should be priorities. But,what the hell do I know.
And sadly, I have this feeling that is not going to happen during the next presidency.
More than most cops.
So you're saying he can tell a gun from a cell phone and a tomato plant from cannabis?
Both the Soviet Socialist Democratic Party and the National Socialist Republicans agree to send men with guns to kill people to stop them from enjoying some drugs.
Meanwhile, BLM has turned into just another far-left activist group agitating for a laundry-list of communist goals.
One might be forgiven for thinking that nobody is actually concerned with the problem at hand.
It's about gubmint jobs for murdering thugs. But to collect some scalps they need to shoot whoever is least likely to be able to fight back, and that means brown people. Besides, looters need to point to brown cadavers as the (now lessened) "real" danger. This conveniently draws attention away from how tonnes of confiscated enjoyable drugs nabbed off the coast of Columbia find their way back into the US economy generating cash for Kleptocracy political campaigns.
More police body cam footage released.
Warning: graphic content.
Kill a bitch and cuff the motherfucker bubbling in his landfill of ghost trucks dumping all his fucking consciousness and will onto what is ordinarily the simple pavement and then stand around licking badges and bald heads and your goddamn obtuse anger while pretending that your fucking bullets saved something from who the fuck knows the even know what?

Praise all the goddamn survivalists in the fucking authoritarian tyranny called the FOP army. Fucking awesome strategy, bitches. Works like a goddamn beaut-facade.
If I hear one more conservative or apologist for cops say 'I'd like to see you in that position to see how you'd react in those split seconds'...
Here's the thing. It's not my fucking job. My taxes go to hiring and training a police force where I expect them to fulfill their duties with professionalism. I don't doubt the majority of them do but where they fail I have every fricken right to criticize and demand action. I've grown tired of this wall of resistance to accountability and reform where needed.
And from what I've heard, the U.S military is trained to handle a situation like this in a mush different way. And the love them some soldiers.
I very likely would not have had my gun drawn. As a matter of fact, upon seeing a dude potentially rolling a joint in his car I would likely have knocked on his window and wagged my finger at him to put it away and then went on my way looking for real crime.
Who knows, maybe I would have gotten shot. Maybe not.
How about upon seeing a guy sitting in his car rolling up a joint, you would have minded yer own ferking business and continued on your way? Wouldn't that have greatly decreased the odds of any violent confrontations?
Sad that we must make excuses for an armed career criminal. Law enforcement officers of planet earth: if you surround me with guns drawn and I refuse to comply, be all means light me up.
This "victim" is either a complete asshole or some kind of farm animal who doesn't deserve the dignity of being held to account of his own actions. Choose one.
Over the top. And there goes my sense of disbelief. Way to knock the reader out of the story.
2/10. Practice more.
if you surround me with guns drawn and I refuse to comply, be all means light me up.
And if the order is to give them blowjobs?
If you accept the OBEY OR DIE mindset, you're encouraging them to give illegal orders and go on power trips.
Every time I point out to my nonpolitical or progressive friends that behind every law is a gun pointed at their heads they act like I'm being melodramatic. Well, enjoy the fruits of your inaction\actions. Trying to reduce the violent threats coming from govt workers makes me the unsympathetic one.
I like to bring up the hippies who would prefer to keep their front "lawns" in their "natural" state, and what busybody neighbors and the state would do to them.
Well, neither is a capital offense so . . .
Anyone else find it odd that there was no audio prior to the execution?
No,no I don't. I'd be shocked if they didn't edit the videos they released.

I'd even go so far as to say all these police shootings go back to the elimination of the Dunkin donut.
Bring it back, for the children.

I can't say anything about this - I can barely say a sentence without dropping a 'fuck'. I'm getting better though.
Find me another word that has the same mouthfeel. We swear because those utterances are the purest expression of the sentiment we're trying to emote, without just screaming incoherently. Fuck, man, "Fuck, man" just doesn't have a replacement.
Well I just saw the dashcam footage.
He gets out of the car and walks backward with his hands by his side. Can't really tell if there's a gun in his right hand or not.
You would think that in 2016 they could figure out how to get cameras that aren't using 90's technology and resolution. The government at your service.
There was something very small in his right hand (car keys?). It looks like there's something larger in his left hand but hard to see. The gun was recovered near the left hand side of his body.

Looks like cold blooded murder to me. The guys arms were down by his side and he was walking backwards. I don't see any threat there at all.
The whole thing boils down to whether or not the cops planted the gun. If it turns out they did and it's provable, all hell is gonna break loose.
And then the Democrats will use it to disarm the public. And the cops will proceed to shoot even more people for even more dubious reasons.
I'll bet the gun throwdown's not provable now that they "don't have" video from the other mock trial framing cams.
Being as it's the government, I'm sure there is some crony contractor providing these cams. Which means they are .5 megapixel and cost around 40k each.
Look, they gotta be radiation hardened, give em a break.
If your motherfucking spindly arms are clutching a fucking blunt rest assured you are a goddamn witch and the priests of the FOP will find you out and burn your ass under the twilight of booms.
Society is the church of stocks and bonfires, man. Bullets and motherfucking pin stripes and a trillion fucking bucks dumped into the goddamn ass of god. Integrity is what you fucking shove into the brains of peons so they follow your goddamn laws and if they don't that's how you dick their hearts with your elite gonads that eat integrity like fucking gold coated ice cream tanks.
Sigh. My heart is heavy, as are all of yours. I'm so tired of this bullshit. But, in a last attempt to not go mad:
You know who else killed people instead of de-escalating?

Jesus crowed, Mohammed ran a horse, Buddha sat swaddled, and Darwin whistled while the sandwiches of time crushed our shit under the fucking ideological squish of hell twats and what now remains is the the droplets of eonic ethers sploding under the teeming druck of times and suns for all the next stages to reveal their tendrils and moments. The next time is coming, man. the next time is coming.

Well, since its Saturday and this is likely the last story of the weekend . . .
On Monday I'm getting a new bike. Well, newish. 2010 Speed Triple SE 15th anniversary Ed. All black though. Everyone and their grandmother has a black bike, I would have preferred the Red. So now I've got to put my 2005 S3 up for sale . . .
my bike when I was ~10 consisted of a beat-up red Mongoose frame with orange rims and blue street tires. Naturally, it was stolen the first time I left it unattended for 15mins. Lesson learned.
Like all these keys man are actually lit for my fingers and and my fucking mind splits into ten brains and all these brains go tap dancing on the moons of the fucking dance floor of my goddamn font tapper villages nestled between the thrusting mountain of the bold Dwight Smurbbles of the shit I fucking snap into the collective digital consciousness of the Fucking Microsoft brain and slave I FUCKING sold my one.o soul into and shit. Bunch of leftover souls lie within my jaded windswept mars that shall never FUCKING bow to corporate Earth+gov. Fuck them all into imagination slides.
Details emerge.
H/t Banjos
See, that almost sounds reasonable. All except the part where they freak out about a guy doing pot. Oh, and how they knew he had a gun and was doing pot when all they saw was him rolling his own.
But if they had *lead* with that, then maybe this fucking riot wouldn't have happened. Instead it was 'fuck you, I don't have to do what you tell me'.
There's a pretty good link at Drudge to the Police Chiefs statement.
According to it, there was no "freaking out" about the pot, in fact they were not going to bother with it since they (the cops) were there for other purposes.
However, they then saw that he had a gun (still in the car). The combination of drug (illegal activity) with gun prompted them to confront him.
The Police Chief never claimed Scott raised or pointed the gun at the cops. Only that he was backing away.
I think the cops took his backing away to be a dangerous act, like he would try to hide behind the vehicle with his weapon, and so they shot him first. That, to me, is where the controversy comes in.
However, regardless of how many days have passed from the shooting to the Chief's statement, it is pretty weak how so many "reasonable" commenters here jump to conclusions while knowing very little of the facts. The same "jumping to conclusions" that talking heads and police are always excoriated for.
Also, the Chief said a bunch of witnesses have corroborated the cops' story, but he might just be referring to the fact that they agree the cops yelled "drop the gun" a shit ton of times.
A key factor will be if any witnesses corroborate that Scott was holding a gun.
Then, the only point of debate will be if holding a gun and backing away justifies a shooting.
(In my opinion, definitely not, but in the "give the cop the benefit of the doubt" legal system we have, it should be plenty of justification)
(Of course if he raised/pointed the gun, that will be a clincher)
He was backing away from the vehicle, not from the cops.
Good point.
I hadn't watched the dash video prior to my comment.
He was just backing up into open space.
Can't tell where all the cops on site were located.
The police are trained to think everything is a danger to them.
"Equipment" being an unregistered gun that mysteriously appears? Possible.
The video was not clear if he had a gun. I wonder if he stepped out of the car without it and the cops assumed it was on him
The gun gets moved from the car to the ground after cops realize he didn't have it on his body. Cop drops it on the ground in a sly move and even it caught on tape could claim he was just... Damn, there's no reason to give them the benefit of the doubt. They don't outright frame people, but fuck with evidence to CTA or get convictions of perps they just "know" are guilty.
Why are we assuming the gun was planted?
An hypothesis to be tested. No evidence yet.
He had some object in his left hand, and the vidcaps of the cops treating him afterward show a gun laying on the ground near his left hand side.
Does NC have gun registration now?
Waitaminnit... This perp was a marijuana negro? One of them crazed insane monsters that run over pedestrians, rape white girls and get innocent children hooked on the Killer Weed? Thank God and the Baby Jesus in Heaven those brave officers were able to riddle him with bullets then properly handcuff the dead body! Both the Republican and Democratic parties understand the importance for the protection of Life that these brutes be dealt summary justice. I only hope the rest of the heathens in the neighborhood can be Christianized into respecting God's Commandments and The Law.
Intetesting the cop trying to break the glass with his baton isn't in immeadiate danger even though a pane of glass is all that seperates him from the drugged up gun flasher. Yet when he exits the car supposedly with the gun and backs away thats an immeadiate threat.
Like others said the police version makes more sense. Now. Four days later with plenty of time you get the story straihht
AKA "drop the f-----g gun, you m-----------g c--------r!"

After 20 years of Clintonian dissembling, one should never assume that the cops' statement meant what a normal person should be able to infer. You can't assume anything.
Hm, the police script sounds just like the load of lame self-justifying bullshit you'd expect from an inappropriate shooting of a man who wasn't doing anything to anybody.

I JUST WANT TO HAVE A REASONABLE DEBATE!!!!
Middle-aged Mexican-American Trump supporter attempts to reason with wise, young Latina. Hilarity ensues.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6ioghOElIc
The Jennifer Flowers thing is a side show. The last thing Trump needs is a side show.
All Trump has to do to win is 1) bring up Hillary taking money from foreign governments while she was the Secretary of State, and more importantly 2) not come across as an obnoxious jackass.
Jennifer Flowers makes Trump look like an obnoxious jackass.
I wasn't sure it was possible to make people feel sorry for Hillary, but Trump found a way.
Every woman in America is going to see Trump as a bully for making Hillary stand there with the woman that her husband cheated on her with, and they're gonna feel sorry for her, and they're gonna blame Trump for it.
In this manner, our emperors are chosen.
"Every woman in America is going to see Trump as a bully for making Hillary stand there with the woman that her husband cheated on her with, and they're gonna feel sorry for her, and they're gonna blame Trump for it."
Ms. Sevo doesn't see it that way; she thought is was hilarious that 'stand-by-her-man' Shrill would have to stare into the face of the woman Willy seduced and then chucked those many years back.
Hey, Shrill! Got a back-bone? Or just a ride on Slick Willy's coat-tails?
Something tells me Ms Sevo wasn't going to be voting for Hillary anyway, so her opinion isn't important to the election considerations.
Putting Flowers in the front row both endears Trump to the alt-right and helps Hillary win over the fence-sitters. Sort of like everything Trump has done in this campaign. Which makes you wonder if he isn't a Clinton plant after all.
"Which makes you wonder if he isn't a Clinton plant after all."
Tin foil hats on aisle 6; shiny side out.
I don't think it's a Clinton plant.
I think Trump, for whatever reason, stopped listening to his advisors for a few hours.
Now he's fuckin' it up.
Women don't think being humiliated by the other woman is cool. They think it's mean and obnoxious.
All the headlines will be about Flowers when they should be about Hillary screwing up or Trump seeming Presidential.
Rubbing a woman's face in her husband cheating on her is not making the most of an opportunity to seem Presidential.
Maybe Trump is saying this to disrupt Hildog's preparations?
Maybe a Vince Foster doppelg?nger will be more effective.
I think Trump, for whatever reason, stopped listening to his advisors for a few hours.
Did Trump start listening to his advisors at some point?
Trump:
"The person on stage with me is the incarnation political corruption. She has disqualified herself from ever again holding a civil service position. Washington D.C., and especially the executive branch, is in dire need of an inside-out purge. Does anyone believe that Hillary Clinton will undertake that cleaning? No. If Hillary is President, 4 years from now everything you hate about DC will be much worse than it is now. Why would anyone do that to themselves or to their country?"
Or something like that.
Optional postscript: "I'm going to make America great again".
On the other hand, Trump is a mentally ill idiot with no relevant experience and a totally unacceptable temperamental volatility.
Republicans should have done better if Hillary is such a threat.
For some reason, Republicans haven't been able to "do better" for decades now.
That's not to say that Hillary is not a threat. She absolutely is. That and a felon.
There was no gun in his hand .....when he got shot his hands went up to his chest, nothing fell out of his hands you can clearly see. He fell face down and was handcuffed still no gun. You see the ground when the officers are running up to him....no gun anywhere on the ground. So where the hell did the gun they claimed he had go or for better yet where the hell did it magically appear? At first they said the they were serving a warrant on someone else when the notice him exit his car with a gun. They say then he jumped back inside his car and that's when they confronted him. Now the story has totally changed! Now they saw him rolling a joint and holding a gun inside of his car?!?!? GTFOH.....They were yelling drop the gun way before he even got out of his car. So, just because they are yelling gun doesn't mean that he was holding a gun. It won't be the first time the police said ''gun'' and there wasn't a gun, they do that so they can shoot and get away with it. Cover up is what they are doing and hell yeah all the way up the ladder!
Which video are you watching? I saw the dash cam and can't determine shit. After he's shot he falls out of frame.
Do you have a better quality video link?

This video just drifted by on my facebook feed.
The video is billed as showing the cops planting a gun on Scott after the shooting. I don't know if that's what actually happened, but I'd sure like to see someone explain this video.
Eh, never mind, those planted "guns" were apparently gloves.
