The University of Houston Student Government has sanctioned Vice President Rohini Sethi for saying all lives matter. Sethi posted, "Forget #BlackLivesMatter; more like #AllLivesMatter" on her Facebook page after five Dallas police officers were killed. Student government officials decided that it would be too difficult to remove her from office. But the student government did suspend her for 50 days, require her to attend diversity training, require her to attend three cultural events per month, require her to write a letter of reflection and require her to make a public presentation on what she has learned.

  1. Silly rabit-only police and government lives matter.

  2. Student government officials decided that it would be too difficult to remove her from office.

Making her workday a living hell so she quits, however, totally doable.

  3. Forcing administrators and academics to make these kinds of apologies isn’t completely unprecedented.

  4. Diversity training, cultural event attendance, letter of reflection, and a public presentation on what she has learned.

The University of Houston provides the education. It’s student government provides the re-education.

    1. I would do everything they ask until the public presentation. Then I’d make that presentation full out trigger worthy.

      1. Yeah, start talking about how you’ve learned that while all men are created equal, obviously some lives are more equal than others, and you have learned that badthink is doubleplusungood, and just continue riffing on Animal Farm and 1984. You could probably get pretty far before the idiots realized what you were doing.

      2. I’d tell them to go fuck themselves, and warn them that I’d litigate if they took any action at all to try to shut me up.

  5. Hurt feelings is the worst offense. Not sure how it applies in this case.

  6. Have you read that letter by the student body President? Future commissar.

Student government is like regular politics without the humility, charity and maturity.

    1. They’re just future politicians who haven’t learned how to hide their character flaws yet.

      1. It is part of the natural selection process for sociopaths.

  7. Did they actually suspend her and require these things or is this actually a list of things they would do if they had any actual power over others? It seems like the college administration would have to buy off on this for it to actually be enforceable.

    1. Suspended from student government, not from attending classes.

  8. I would look at it as 50 days to look for a better employer, followed by an opportunity to write a letter showing how her former employer is run by a bunch of morons.

    1. Never fear, she made the requisite admission of guilt and ignorance and apologized, which they promptly refused to accept.

      1. This is why you always go immediately to the “nuclear” option, keep telling the truth in such a way as to offend the little snowflakes so much they can’t function.

        Never negotiate with terrorists.

  9. I would hope the reaction is “I quit, fuck you and your two-bit indoctrination asylum”.

    1. Prepare to be disappointed. She apologized and the local BLM contingent still didn’t feel comfortable with her in student government. Never apologize to the social justice people-they never accept it and take it as an admission of guilt that they’ll use to pummel their target.

      1. I’m terribly sorry. I couldn’t feel worse about (manufacture tears for dramatic effect) how big of pussies you all are.

      2. From the social justice point of view, if you are accused then you are guilty. Period. If you apologize then you admit it, and if you don’t then you’re evil with bad intention. Either way you’re guilty.

        1. At least refusing to apologize lets you keep your dignity intact when you’re blackballed. Sort of like the difference between refusing a blindfold vs begging for your life when standing in front of your firing squad.

          1. Apologizing destroys your defense. Nobody is going to come to your aid if you already admitted wrong doing. Again contrast what happened to Paula Deen when she apologized, and the Duck Dynasty guy when he did not.

        2. Um from a social justice point of view if you’re white then you’re guilty of every crime that ever happened throughout history, if you’re black and accused then you we’re probably framed by one of those evil white guys.

          1. If you’re black and male, then you’re a rapist if any girl you’ve had sex with decides to accuse you up to 30 years after the fact.

            -jcr

            1. That’s quite a tease. What case are you referring to here?

    2. You (and I) might, but we’re talking about someone sufficiently deeply invested into the system to run for and win the position of VP of the student government. Even before I read the other responses, I would have guessed that anyone already that far down the rabbit hole would be more likely to go for a little public self-flagellation.

  10. …require her to attend diversity training, require her to attend three cultural events per month, require her to write a letter of reflection and require her to make a public presentation on what she has learned.

Or else what? They already seemed to have taken impeachment off the table. At the very least, my public presentation would melt some snowflakes.

    1. Ask the snowflakes “When are people going to learn that all people, all races, and nationalities, are all equally inferior to the white man?”

  11. But the student government did suspend her for 50 days, require her to attend diversity training, require her to attend three cultural events per month, require her to write a letter of reflection and require her to make a public presentation on what she has learned.

Yeah, my letter of reflection and public presentation would be pretty fucking scathing.

  12. Maybe they expect a report on which lives don’t matter.

  13. Three cultural events per month. Here are at least some she should choose from Sep to March

    Highland Games
    Oktoberfest
    Thanksgiving parade
    A menorah lighting
    A Germanic Yule celebration
Christmas Eve at family’s house (I will give the Christians one here)
    Hogmanay
Burns Supper (along with a notarized letter indicating she ate some haggis)
    Valentine’s Day
    St. Patrick’s Day party
    Passover Seder

Do you think any of those might count??

    1. Sorry, no, but Labor Day, Kwanzaa, and a Wiccan celebration of the winter solstice would be acceptable.

      1. As a Germanic neopagan, I can honestly say that I hate Wiccans. And I am pretty sure, that almost any pagan celebrations would be allowed, EXCEPT anything to do with Norse or Germanic paganism.

    2. I’d also include Bloomsday.

  14. So the person with the different opinion than the power strucrure has to take the diversity training. Ironic.

  15. Nice.

  16. This is INSANE.

  17. Why is nobody outraged that these part time twits are getting $700/month from the university, at a time when the tuition has gone from $1900 in 2003, to $7600 now?

Are we TRAINING these people to use government as their ever-flowing milk-teat?

  18. i get paid over ?79.91 per hour working from home with 2 kids at home. I never thought I’d be able to do it but my best friend earns over ?9185 a month doing this and she convinced me to try. The potential with this is endless. Heres what I’ve been doing,……

  19. Shane Smith, Student body President, has the most punchable face evar.
And should be, just for thinking that SBP at UHouston means more than a handful of dog shit.
