The University of Houston Student Government has sanctioned Vice President Rohini Sethi for saying all lives matter. Sethi posted, "Forget #BlackLivesMatter; more like #AllLivesMatter" on her Facebook page after five Dallas police officers were killed. Student government officials decided that it would be too difficult to remove her from office. But the student government did suspend her for 50 days, require her to attend diversity training, require her to attend three cultural events per month, require her to write a letter of reflection and require her to make a public presentation on what she has learned.

The University of Houston provides the education. It's student government provides the re-education.

Prepare to be disappointed. She apologized and the local BLM contingent still didn't feel comfortable with her in student government. Never apologize to the social justice people-they never accept it and take it as an admission of guilt that they'll use to pummel their target.

From the social justice point of view, if you are accused then you are guilty. Period. If you apologize then you admit it, and if you don't then you're evil with bad intention. Either way you're guilty.

At least refusing to apologize lets you keep your dignity intact when you're blackballed. Sort of like the difference between refusing a blindfold vs begging for your life when standing in front of your firing squad.

You (and I) might, but we're talking about someone sufficiently deeply invested into the system to run for and win the position of VP of the student government. Even before I read the other responses, I would have guessed that anyone already that far down the rabbit hole would be more likely to go for a little public self-flagellation.
