Police Body Camera Footage in Killing of Dylan Noble in Fresno Released
Matches earlier police accounts of Noble's hands going behind his back, shouting about hating his life.
Although Fresno police chief Jerry Dyer earlier said he did not want to release police body camera footage of Fresno officers shooting and killing Dylan Noble on June 25 pending a district attorney investigation, the video was released today.
One of the bodycam videos:
The video does corroborate Dyer's earlier statement that Noble (after the police had drawn on him after pulling him over when he turned into their path with enough speed to make his tires screech, while investigating reports of someone on foot with a rifle) put his right hand behind his back frequently as the police, with their guns drawn, ordered him over and over to show both hands and get down, and that he shouted something that indeed sounded something like "I hate my life."
Despite his hand motions, Noble was not armed and was not the rifle-wielding suspect they were allegedly searching for. The officers shot him twice more after he was down, as per the earlier released citizen video, again after his hand motions toward his back alarmed the officers.
Dyer said he himself was not sure whether the last two shots will end up being ruled justified in a press conference. Dyer also mentions another off-duty sergeant on the scene thought he had seen Noble reaching for something in his glove box before he got out of his truck that he thought could have been a gun. He "relayed that to the officers on the scene," Dyer said.
Whether the situation would have turned out differently had they not begun the encounter with drawn guns and shouts, we'll never know.

It's not even Friday yet, why did I click this.
I'd guess alcohol. NTTAWWT
This is basically what's going on across the country - suicide by cop. Though it's not quite as explicit in most cases. Also not nearly as bad as what's going on over in Europe - they are doubling down on speech, religion, and assembly restrictions designed to give people lots more reasons to become target practice.
Jeebus. This is clearly suicide by cop, which is not something caused by "drawn guns and shouts." The guy not only does not follow any of the orders, he seems to go out of his way to make himself look suspicious.
That's no excuse to kill him. Cops ought to be trained in subduing suspects using non-lethal methods.
You gotta crack a few eggs to make an omelette. That war-on-police won't start itself.
Just shoot him in the leg. Then karate chop him on the neck. Done.
Yeah, this isn't exactly the Tamir Rice case. The cops gave him clear orders and time to to comply, and Dyer not only ignored every order, he actively defied them.
I will agree that the last two shots might have been excessive, since it looks like he was probably just kind of processing "Holy shit, I just got shot," and nursing a gut wound, so at that point he probably wasn't exactly clear headed.
Err, Dylan, I mean. Got the names confused.
So he defied orders. Did he try to kill anyone? Threaten to do so? No, so he shouldn' t have been killed.
Sure, it looks like suicide by cop.
Shooting him again after he is on the ground still makes it murder, though.
People who commit suicide by cop are disgusting chicken-sh!ts. So now the cop has to live the rest of their lives knowing they killed someone, because you are too much of a coward to kill yourself?
Looked like he was asking for it even if it wasn't deserved.
Okay so...
I have heard precisely ZERO discussion about this case outside of this website.
I have a hunch as to WHY that is the case...
But damn, how do you see something like this and not get pissed off.
Close your eyes and repeat "there's no place like Gnome, there's no place like Gnome".
This situation was more sketchy than the one in Baton Rouge. If BLM really wanted police reform, they'd bring up some of the hundreds of white people killed by cops every year.
Why reach behind you while cops have guns drawn on you? This seems like suicide by cop which is terrible for all involved. (yes we don't know, but it sure looks like a strong possibility)
I find it sad that the just posts on a long while are on the truck killing thread. I participated. That's sad. Are we using glib humour and snide comments to protect our fragile egos? Duck this world, and where is Agile Cyborg?
I have no idea what you were trying to say, but I feel you man.
Probably a confluence of events. The story happened when a lot of people were getting off from work. And let's face it, most of the people around here agree with each other on about 85% of the issues, so there usually isn't too much to debate around here. So somebody arguing to end the war on drug isn't exactly making a controversial statement, but on issues like Muslim terrorism and open borders, that's where a lot of the people around here actually disagree with each other.
It helps it seem distant.
"thought he saw"? he either saw it or he didn't.
"Dyer also mentions another off-duty sergeant on the scene"
Hmmm. If I hire a guy to work the day shift at my burger joint, and I find him next to the deep fryer at midnight, we have a fucking problem.
The threat level did not escalate from the first moments after he left the truck to when the road pirates finally shot him. The "threat" was the same throughout: An unseen hand, that may have had a weapon, or a beer, or a pot pipe, or nothing. So what changed in those intervening moments? Answer: The pirates became impatient and frustrated with the lack of cooperation. That is all. They were impatient, not imperiled. I don't think it's asking too much to require that the brave cops who "put their lives on the line every day, protecting and serving," assume a risk of danger and wait until a cognizable, perceived, actual threat has materialized before killing someone---as opposed to "there might be a threat here---let's shoot just to be safe."

Yes. They are supposed to be the professionals and the people who take on certain risks that most people don't have to.
At least white people are consistent. I've seen mostly comments about how this kid was an idiot who should have listened to the cops and deserved to be shot. The 3rd and 4th shots don't bother a lot of people for some odd reason.
That was my problem. The shots while he's on the ground are totally unnecessary. He might have lived if not for those.
I see a lot of "he was asking for it...he wanted to be shot" and "he should've just followed orders" and "he provoked the cops."
So in other words, he was shot for disobeying orders, for annoying the cops, for making them impatient, etc.
Is a regular citizen allowed to shoot a man on the street for failure to follow commands to show both hands, which causes the citizen to fear for his life? Of course not. Not even a security guard could do that, and ostensibly they are in the business, too, of protecting life and property. But a cop can get away with shooting because, well, he got tired of repeating the same command.
I find it interesting that so many people support cops having broader rights of self-defense than the peasants. Equality under the law (i.e. Rule of Law) is paper-thin in this country.
My buddy's step-mother makes $96 an hour on this PC. She has been fired for 9 months but last month her payment was $9600 just working on the PC for a few hours. Check It out what she do..
