Starbucks is being sued?in federal court?because its iced coffee has too much ice.
Who told you to put the balm on?
Hello.
"Starbucks is being sued?in federal court?because its iced coffee has too much ice."
We're prepared...I'll take it!
Starbucks is being sued?in federal court?because its iced coffee has too much ice.
And you guys thought the Berntards were going to have trouble finding gainful employment after the elections.
Until Starbucks replaces them with automatic coffee machines?
I have actually seen this thought progression on ProgBook. "The working poor have it so bad...and just wait until the robots come..."
Progs have nothing but contempt for the working poor. They can never admit that their high taxes and utopian projects hurt those people the most. They resent them for not being on welfare, and therefore clients of the progs' largesse.
Progs went nuts when Starbucks had the temerity to open a shop in Montreal's Jean-Talon district where the market is. Once a wicked fun place filled with hard-working merchants and clients is now infested with douchebag hipsters acting like they own its soul with a stupid association trying to determine who is 'fit' to have a business there. When local merchants expressed not having a problem with SB, they were not happy and some moron vandalized the local. All this even though there was another 'chain' coffee shop but a couple of blocks east. At the time level headed people were willing to let the market decide and it did. Starbucks is thriving there.
I'm more upset it came at the expense of a pretty good Italian restaurant who sold out to SB.
You can order it with less ice, you know...
But then you'd get more of their shitty coffee.
The place properly be named Schmuckbucks, because anyone who would buy their overrated and absurdly overpriced coffe is a schmuck.
Which coffee shop do you recommend?
Flunkin Fo Nuts?
^Crusty wins today.
I'd recommend the kind you make in your coffee pot at home.
I go to the shabby coffee shop near the station filled with 70 year old Asian men scouring the horse racing spreads while sucking on uncashed Mild Sevens. Superior atmosphere to Starbucks.
The best coffee is generally from shops that are locally owned.
MacDonald's coffee is surprisingly good. I only buy SB because it's handy.
If you want real quality but still less expensive than buying out, find a roaster who will ship the same day they roast. You want to allow 48 hours for CO2 to finish emanating from the beans, so no need to rush the shipping.
The average coffee roast has well over 400 flavors in its prime. 2 weeks later, that number is cut in half and it becomes stale (everything you buy by the bag in a grocery store or Starbucks is.) Ideally, wean yourself off of dark roast-- French roast was developed following a crappy harvest year to obscure the shitty taste. Companies now over-roast to have uniformity of product since its difficult to consistently grind and brew fresh beans. Espresso is typically burnt to shit due to the popularity of lattes, since there is so much milk to cut.
/snob and former paid roaster
Best coffee I ever had was from my friend's dad's farm in Orocovis, Puerto Rico. He grew and roasted the beans himself.
Hmmmmm, she may actually get away with this suit because I believe Starbucks actually does advertise a specific oz for their cup sizes. It's a dumb stupid lawsuit, but she's got enough of a case I could see her winning on a technicality.
Jeebus. Can we add Every Movie Theater Evar to the class?
Businesses all over the country sell cold drinks in size-specified cups. You buy a 22 oz cold drink you get a 22 oz cup. Standard industry practice.
The lawsuit is utter bullshit.
This case is not intended to ever see a courtroom. Someone wants a nice juicy settlement.
A settlement would seem a bad idea in this case. Too many people buy these drinks. If they pay out the lawyer can walk down to the lobby starbucks to find the client for the next identical lawsuit.
Starbucks should take a page from the Whole Foods playbook and countersue.
In addition to seeking immediate dismissal and sanctions against the plaintiff's lawyer, of course.
Our local Starbucks is always full of people, no matter when it is. Those people don't care about the coffee. Somehow sitting in the place playing on your cute little Apple notebook or iPhone makes you one of the cool people.
My wife likes their green tea frappuccino. The only time we ever go in there is when she wants one of those. Their coffee sucks ass compared to what I make at home and one of their them costs more than I spend on coffee in a month.
I use their Guatemalan to make Turkish coffee. Wouldn't dream of buying a cup of Joe there.
I get all of my coffee from Brazil and Mexico. About $2 for 16oz of finely ground coffee and better than anything that Starbucks sells for 5x the price.
Dude, get a grinder. Its really better if its freshly ground.
You don't have to go bugfuck nuts and roast your own, but grinding your own will up your coffee game.
What a waste of energy.
Making ice, I mean.
Who told you to put the balm on?
You put on the balm, or you get the hose.
What, again??
Virginia Republicans say they're going to challenge Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe's executive order restoring voting rights to more than 200,000 released felons.
While there's still Republicans left in office to do it?
Dammit! PR didn't default? C'mon gov-man sack up!
C'mon comment-man read the whole blurb!
FTFA: Puerto Rico will default Monday on roughly $422 million in debt payments.
Christine Lagarde haz a sad.
Suddenly I agree with the leftists: corporations have too much power.
It's a tactic the left invented. Remember the great Coca-Cola boycott to end apartheid?
And all the other late-60s and throughout the 70s boycotts.
Coke has tasted better ever since.
Why did I read that as "cock"? I am not even gay.
You people.
/light wave and giggle.
He is now pressing cohorts to back measures to close the gender pay gap.
The Reason butthurt over this will be glorious.
Target, meet boycott. Boycott, Target. Y'all have fun now!
I thought progs loved Target. What changed?
They've hated them for a few years now. In 2010 (IIRC), Target donated to a Minnesota gubernatorial candidate that held "anti-gay" positions.
They've had a few different times where they've been picked on for donating one way or the other. I think being based in Minneapolis has a lot to do with that since the gay community there is very politically active so someone is always finding out who the company or it's leadership is donating to.
Wow. The CEO of an HR software company wants to make state regulations affecting HR more Byzantine? Imagine that.
Desperately Seeking Rent.
I know Lenin didn't say it, but it's still true: Capitalists will furnish the ropes for their own hanging.
Why quote Lenin when you can quote Adam Smith:
"People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices."
No, government has to much power to parcel out to the highest bidder. The answer is not more rules and more inspectors and more oversight, but less power available, thus less power to sell.
"Laboratories of democracy" and all that. Oddly, many of the states with the most ostensibly regressive laws seem to be doing okay attracting business, sometimes at the expense of the states with the most ostensibly progressive laws, so it's a problem that seems to be working itself out fine naturally.
There is nothing leftist about saying that the corporations have too much power. It's a standard libertarian position: corporate subsidies, political connection, limited liability, eminent domain, pollution credits, regulation to crush small competitors....the list goes on.
limited liability
I thought we lost the last of our "I have absolutely no idea what limitation of liability actually means" retards when Proprietist quit coming 'round.
Hint: It means you can only lose an amount equal to your financial investment in the event of insolvency. Doesn't provide any tort or criminal immunity.
May be you should Google "piercing the corporate veil."
Shit, you're right, they didn't cover in basic corporate law when I was getting my business degree. I guess you win. You're not an abject retard with no idea what you're talking about after all.
Business degree? We used to insult each other with that. As in, if you don't ease up on the weed, you are gonna end up as a business major.
Kind of ironic since you look like such a cock right now, isn't it?
Just to indulge you though, piercing the corporate veil occurs when corporate officers... wait for it... are found to be criminally or tortiously liable. When that happens, their financial liability is no longer limited to their ownership stake. It is remarkably uncomplicated. Limited liability would exist as a contractual concept without government of any kind.
Here's some helpful links written in non-technical language for people who were too smart for business classes:
What is "limited liability" and why is it important?
What is a 'Limited Liability'
Piercing the Corporate Veil - Definition
Piercing the Corporate Veil: When LLCs and Corporations May be at Risk
Look, you started with the insults. I brought up piercing the corporate veil to show that limited liability is not a clear cut issue. From a libertarian perspective, damages should be recoverable from anyone personally responsible. Limited liability as a contractual concept? A contract between whom, exactly? You might want to read Michael Hoy's essay on corporations and the responses to it. That's a good starter on different perspectives on this.
From a libertarian perspective, damages should be recoverable from anyone personally responsible.
And they are under corporate law. Corporate officers and shareholders are not immune from tort or criminal liability, nor is such liability at all limited. The limitation provided by the corporate structure is purely financial. So for example, if you invest in Apple Inc and it goes bankrupt next week, the court can not come tow away your boat to recover money for creditors. On the other hand, if it had been found that Tim Cook misled the shareholders through accounting fraud, he and the people who participated in the fraud would be criminally liable and personally financially responsible to the shareholders.
Limited liability as a contractual concept? A contract between whom, exactly?
Here is where you really demonstrate a total lack of understanding as to what limited liability actually means in a legal sense.
Between the creditor and the debtor, of course.
Rothbard discusses this from an ancap perspective:
I have no problem with limited debt liability to investors. I was always talking about limited tort liability, which contrary to what you claim does exist.
I was always talking about limited tort liability, which contrary to what you claim does exist.
The only place I've seen it is in a few states that have malpractice reform, where they capped non-economic damages.
Of course, that's on my patch. Their may be other statutory limitations on tort liability available to corporations of which I am unaware.
Then you better cite that because I'd say Pat just dominated you.
And no, corporations are not too powerful. It's the government that has all the power.
Cytotoxic fail. You didn't link to Ayn Rand's "Big Business - America's Persecuted Minority"
On the purely free market, such men would simply announce to their creditors that their liability is limited to the capital specifically invested in the corporation, and that beyond this their personal funds are not liable for debts, as they would be under a partnership arrangement. It then rests with the sellers and lenders to this corporation to decide whether or not they will transact business with it. If they do, then they proceed at their own risk.
My problem with this is the moral hazard you get into when "the sellers and lenders" who "decide whether or not they will transact business" are themselves merely corporate functionaries and therefore don't proceed "at their own risk". If I'm buying something from you, we each expect the other to stand behind our warrants, when I'm a purchasing agent for the ABC Corporation and you're a vendor for the XYZ Corporation it's not my money and it's not your product so who gives a shit about standing behind your word?
The first cruise ship from the United States to Cuba in decades arrived today, with 700 passengers aboard.
Eventually availing themselves of the first class Cuban healthcare system for food poison relief.
Starbucks is being sued?in federal court?because its iced coffee has too much ice.
It's about damned time.
I'm a cheapskate who makes drip coffee at home and takes a travel mug with me to work every morning.
Ted, you could have just said you are afraid to live life to the fullest.
Drip vs. full on espresso rat tail? Not everyone is blessed with a tiny prostate.
I like their milkshakes.
Their coffee is awful. Or was last time I tried it, which was years ago.
Their coffee has a lot of flavor...
Burnt is a flavor.
Yep. Definitely over-roasted.
The same cannot be said of Puerto Rico.
51st state. South Illinois.
East Florida.
Don't put this one on us. PR is the 6th borough of NYC.
Oh Hell no. The only thing the Cubans and 'Ricans can agree on is that the Francophone Carribean is inferior to even the other Spanish speakers.
More like Chicago, which us Illinoisans like to think as a separate state anyway.
The Supreme Court has declined to hear a challenge to the legality of Seattle's $15 minimum wage law.
A *manly* SCOTUS would hear it.
Last night on Coast to Coast AM, someone phoned in to complain that US law exempts blind people, like himself, from the federal minimum wage law. He actually thought he'd've been paid more, rather than simply being unemployed, when he took jobs paying much less than minimum wage, if blind employees had been subject to the same provisions as the sighted.
So speculative question for ya'll, at some point in the future we are going to invent sex robots that look more like real dolls instead of dildos or fleshlights. Once we do, do you think it will be illegal for children to use them, and do you think it will be illegal to make them in the image of children or use them for 'snuff' type fetishes?
Once we do, do you think it will be illegal for children to use them, and do you think it will be illegal to make them in the image of children or use them for 'snuff' type fetishes?
Yes, aaaaand yes.
Indeed, it will be illegal to even *think* about such things.
In fact, Illocust is probably already under surveillance simply for positing the hypothetical.
Illocust was already on the watch-list for purchasing small mannequins and lots of latex.
I can't wait for Cody Wilson to introduce the first 3D printable fuckable [let your mind fill in the rest]
Real dolls or Real Doll(tm)s? I think the latter can be customized into some pretty creepy configurations. And as distasteful as I find that, better a thing than a person or creature.
Cue the Mills Brothers, who were way out ahead on this stuff.

+1 I'm proud to say I knew what song you were linking too. (meanwhile I've never heard the lemonade song) /deeply untrendy
Asking for a friend?
Some of us are single Fist. They make a sex robot I'm buying one.
Some of us are married Fist. They make a sex robot I'm buying one.
Some of us aren't even mammals Fist. They make a sex robot I'm buying one
Some of us are aliens, Fist. They make a sex robot, I'm anally probing it.
In the future there will be robots fucking robots while another robot watches.
"i like to iWatch."
iCuck
Porn's going to get really weird.
I think it will almost certainly be illegal to make them to look like children (which is, of course, ludicrous, as it harms no one and potentially creates a safe outlet for pedos) and only slightly less certain that it will be illegal for children to purchase/use them.
I'm thinking it might actually be more certain that it will be illegal for children to use it. We already have tons of people saying porn dehumanizes women. I can't imagine feminists being okay with little boys getting their rocks off to a literal woman shaped object.
The child ones might actually be legalized for the exact reason you stated. Unlike with child porn, it will be much harder to argue that it merely wets the appetite for the real thing. A child robot would be an actual substitute instead of a just make do.
an actual substitute
As opposed to, I don't know, a substitute?
As opposed to something that doesn't fully substitute. A child robot is like an artificial sweetener while child porn is like just using a quarter amount of sugar required by the recipe.
Thanks. I'll have to think about that.
Daddy, they arrested my pillow!
I wouldn't be so sure. The puritans in this country will accuse it of glorifying pedophilia, i expect. Just look at the insane overreaction to vaping.
It's also ludicrous because once the basic sexbot technology exists, it won't be too difficult at all for some lolicon fetishist to modify one to a smaller size.
Yes and yes. And it's probably not a bad idea. The last thing you want your kid getting into is one of those sex bots from Gazorpazorp.
Ahhhhh, but I want a kid that can conquer the whole planet for me and is full grown in a day. Why do you have to ruin my dreams.
+1 "Oh, it 'looks cool', huh? That's why you want it?"
But does it defrackulate?
This has been covered pretty extensively in Rule 34 by Charles Stross. And given his track record with that series, it probably is already happening.
*Minors should need parental permission if they are below the age of consent. Kiddie dolls should be available.
Once we do, do you think it will be illegal for children to use them, and do you think it will be illegal to make them in the image of children or use them for 'snuff' type fetishes?
This may help answer your question.
We all like $, but we don't all steal it. It'd be interesting to do the same comparison between thieves & non-thieves.
Mine? https://www.flickr.com/photos/wfmu/22385609100
I am outraged and disgusted by your question. You sicken me. Hear that, everyone? I'm disgusted! I'm ferociously shaking my head and sighing contemptuously to signal my outrage.
So anyone check out http://www.Venezuelanalysis.com for your Chavista propaganda? Pretty amusing to see that they claim to be "independent" yet their links are all to pro-Chavez groups.
Also why is it that so many "anti-war" people are Chavez apologists? You have Raimondo, Glenn Greenwald and Jon Pilger for example.
And wasn't there an actor....he might have been in a movie about a high school or something...?
Are you talking the actor that was in that auto-biographical pic, I Am Sam?
Full retard.
Hey Bud! Lets party?
Don't forget Cato and Reason! Chavanistas, the lot of them!
Someone at Cato defended Chavez? Citation needed.
No, they're anti-war, but not pro-Chavez. it was an attempt at a joke.
They're not 'anti-war' they are just against the USG doing stuff. Myopia.
Also why is it that so many "anti-war" people are Chavez apologists?
Because BOOOOOOOOOSH apparently thought the ~2002 coup would have been a good thing if it succeeded.
Because Chomskyan leftists pretend to be anti-war when convenient.
Also why is it that so many "anti-war" people are Chavez apologists?
Because they aren't anti-war, they're anti-American war. They need that kind of might to enforce their utopian visions one day, so they don't actually hate it. They just hate that it's used to further other people's causes and not theirs.
Yeah, Justin Raimondo is a huge Chavez fan.
"In light of the demonstrated ability of Hugo Chavez and his "Bolivarian" compadres to come up with government regulations that sound like self-parody, but aren't, I'm announcing an ongoing competition for the most "out-there" example of legislation that exemplifies the hubris of the self-deluded bureaucrat, who thinks he (or she) can command the tides to stop: the Hugo Chavez Award. "
That was 2007.
Did you read his twitter feed when Chavez died?
You're right. I just found an obituary where Raimondo slobbered all over him.
http://reason.com/blog/2013/03.....nt_3589674
I said you're right, man! I didn't remember that stuff.
Greenwald was also recently writing tendentious crap about Brazil's current struggle. He's in the tank for more Dilma. Fuck Greenwald.
The Supreme Court has declined to hear a challenge to the legality of Seattle's $15 minimum wage law.
Their clerks are already making more than that.
Federalism is a bitch.
Clinton Flip-Flops on Coal, Now Wants Coal to Prosper
Well, the WV primary is next week, DUH!
Proof she is a stealth Libertarian! /Cytotoxic/Welch/Gillespie
You've really torched that strawman to the ground.
The shit is chess, not checkers!
Flip flops on coal? Does she have an apple in her mouth?
Nice.
Observing just how deep in the libertarian moment we are, I was confronted by this message when simply moving some money from one account to another:
How we got to a place where The Congress of the United States thought it was a good idea to create restrictions on how and where 330,000,000 Americans move money, and in my case, it's between MY OWN ACCOUNTS WITHIN THE BANK ITSELF really ought to give any reasonable person pause.
... and in my case, it's between MY OWN ACCOUNTS WITHIN THE BANK ITSELF really ought to give any reasonable person pause.
There's your mistake. Congress is not over-full of reasonable people.
That's been around forever. I remember being told that by tellers 20+ years ago on a savings account.
Really? So the libertarian moment was going on 20 years ago? Ok, I withdraw my complaint. We no longer have a reasonable expectation of privacy... anywhere.
You say that like it's surprising.
No, I say it like it hurts my feelings.
What I found most confusing about your comment was that you claim to be a libertarian, yet you use a bank, rather than keeping all of your wealth in the form of gold bars buried in an undisclosed location. I have to assume you are transacting business under an alias at this bank.
REAL Libertarians conduct all their transactions in lead and maintain their wealth in firearms and dehydrated foodstuffs.
Poseur.
So once a week, I shave some filings off a gold bar, sell that for cash, then convert to bitcoin.
Maybe libertarians should agitate more for safe spaces, and exhibit fragile mental stability.
Then the libertarian moment shall be!
Oh, that's just the tip of the iceberg as far as consumer banking goes. Among other intrusive requirements - Any transaction that involves $10,000 or more in cash is required to be reported to the federal government. Plus, it is a crime to willfully structure your banking transactions to avoid the reporting threshold. Employees have a legal obligation to report transactions that appear to be so structured.
Any transaction that involves $10,000 or more in cash is required to be reported to the federal government.
I knew that.
Plus, it is a crime to willfully structure your banking transactions
I knew that. So is the '6 transactions' in my post above part of the anti-structuring regs?
No, it's not about structuring. It discourages people from withdrawing finds from their savings (as opposed to checking) accounts. The goal is to increase savings.
The Supreme Court did, however, agree to hear a case over whether clothing designs?cheerleader uniforms in this example?may be copyrighted.
Save the cheerleader skirt, save the world.
Good to know they have their priorities in order.
It's just a warm up for finding the 2A unconstitutional.
I'm sure the rest of the court wants Notorious RBG to model it for them so they can form an opinion.
Virginia Republicans say they're going to challenge Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe's executive order restoring voting rights to more than 200,000 released felons
I'm generally in favor of restoring voting rights to someone who has served their sentence, but if it was stipulated by statute that they lost them, how can the governor just declare otherwise?
I believe the law does allow for restoration at the governor's pleasure. But failing that the governor could do a mass retroactive pardon or commutation of sentence to accomplish the same thing.
mass retroactive pardon
*faps furiously*
This is how it was in Florida under Crist. Basically, they did a giant database search and everyone who met certain criteria were geanted their voting rights by the governor as allowed in the state constitution.
Yeah, that's a good point.
The Supreme Court has declined to hear a challenge to the legality of Seattle's $15 minimum wage law
Libertarian Moment!
Go Ahead, Play the Woman Card
Apparently there is an actual "woman card" one can obtain from the Clinton Campaign.
So one can play 'Old Maid'?
Can a man use it to use the womens' bathroom at Target?
You're good at Target no matter what. That's what got Target in trouble with the boycott.
Right now, "the woman card" and "the race card" are broadly seen as cynical tactics. Democrats should make them central components of a winning hand.
Done and done, years ago. What is the author's point?
"Right now, "the woman card" and "the race card" are broadly seen as cynical tactics. Democrats should make them central components of a winning hand."
Yeah, urging the Democrats to play race and gender politics is like urging Beavis and Butthead to jack off in Mr. Anderson's garage - they're already doing it as you speak!
Toolshed, not garage, I apologize.
How you make the leap from "obviously cynical tactic" to "winning hand" seems a little fuzzy to me.
huh, huh...winning hand
/beavis or butthead, I forget which
How you make the leap from "obviously cynical tactic" to "winning hand" seems a little fuzzy to me.
My thought as well. What are they going to do, convince the broader swath of the American public to change their mind based on endlessly parroting the same talking points for months on end? That won't get old.
Too bad Margaret Thatcher isn't still around.
She's gone? I hope Lou Reed played at her funeral.
That means a party dedicated to diversity must champion politicians who aren't white men ? even if there's a white man who is equally qualified, or the obvious choice.
Yes, let's just encourage sexists who think women are necessarily less qualified. Great plan.
I Want the Benefits of Maternity Leave Without Bothering to Have Children, Says Stupid Fat Whore
...It's extraordinary that feminists claim they want the right to work, then when they get the right to work like men do -- meaning, you show up at your job and work and no, you can't just take a sabbatical (me-battical?) when you feel like you Just Can't Even -- they begin bitching and moaning and claiming they need society to reconform itself yet again to accommodate their ever-growing list of vital needs and demands.
If you don't want to work, fine -- get married, be a housewife.
But what is this shit with the claims that they want to work, and then the constant whining about what work actually entails?..
Well, well, look who just shat all over this thread.
This is all aspirational. Nothing worse than an iAlpha.
Did you just accidentally reveal Apple's next killer product?
Shit.
To be fair, somebody shat the same shit all over this thread last week.
If you don't want to work, fine -- get married, be a housewife.
I work 90 hours a week, and my stay-at-home wife works harder than I do.
The feminist revolutionaries have won. Insurgents rise to challenge the new order. As always, they're outlaws.
...This post discusses one facet. I expect (guess) that as guys understand the new order, many will refuse to play. They'll become insurgents ? outlaws ? from their designated role as beta males ? expected to dutifully ask permission at each step of the romantic escalation (see "Feminism for Bros"), marrying a women at the end of her youth after she's chased alphas (of whom she'll dream), and dutifully supporting a family until and after your wife divorces you (40-50% of first marriages; higher for subsequent ones; most initiated by the wife).
Once men see the game, why would they play? An insurgency might begin, perhaps leading to a new revolution (or a counter-revolution).
It's already begun. Like most revolutions, it begins covertly. Especially this one, so transgressive of our cultural rules. You see its insurgents' trail when women complain about the "Peter Pan syndrome" (men refusing to marry). You see it in the rise of "game" ? "pick-up artists" who mimic the traits women use to identify alphas, and manipulate women's typical behavior patters (e.g., "dark triad" traits; see details here....
Beckett shows our future. She chooses wisely & marries Castle, but dreams at night of her alpha ex-boyfriend.
Read this story of our time: "Falling for a Hells Angel" by Jill Rothenberg, posted at Narratively ("Human stories, courageously told"), 17 November 2014. "When a mild-mannered book editor with a sheltered background breaks into a world of outlaw bikers, the excitement is alluring, but the violence is never far behind." If you have much experience with these kind of girls, you'll be able to read the start and write the rest of it as if you had precognition. ....
...You know how this plays out. She meets sexist bad boys, who treat her like dirt. She loves them (she only hints at the nice boys who she lets buy her dinners and shows, and whom she treats like pets). Eventually she leaves the fast life and the story ends. If she marries a nice beta (aka settling), she'll dream at night of her biker lover. It's worth reading in full. It's an extreme version of a commonplace story of our time. Too bad that most of us cannot be alphas ? or their faux version of bad boy bikers.
Cornered! What To Say To A Girlfriend Who Caught You Cheating
...When accused of cheating:
Pause before answering.
Speak directly. Don't hem and haw.
Look her in the eyes. Remember, every moment with a girl is a staring contest which you must win.
Don't appease. Appeasement is the great pussy desiccator.
Don't fall into her frame. Reframing is king!
And, finally, deny like the sociopath you are.
OK, is he being post-modern ironic, or serious?
He's a PUA. He's serious.
If he's into alpha males, I'm sure he wouldn't mind if the girl's dad beat the shit out of him.
Does it really qualify as art, though?
Yes
But she caught me on the counter (It wasn't me)
Saw me banging on the sofa (It wasn't me)
I even had in the shower (It wasn't me)
She even caught me on camera (It wasn't me)
I love that this was a big hit.
Did you know Mr. Bombastic himself was a Marine? He is an American hero.
Stud.
He can cheat on me all day

Roosh: How The Government Is Robbing Men Of Good Wives
...If you take the depopulation agenda to be accurate then it makes sense that you would want to train women to do anything but bond with men in a way that leads to reproduction. That is exactly what most Western governments have done, and it starts by essentially brainwashing women of the need to be free from their husbands by making them obsessed to earn money produced by central banks. Any country where the idea of female employment is seen as "common sense" is in the process of having their culture destroyed, if it hasn't already been done.
But do women really get a good deal out of this? In order to survive, they must obtain resources from corporate employment, the government, or an individual man. They cannot exist in the world on their own....
You are truly the worst person here. This is true whether you post this stuff because you believe it or because you're trolling.

Dalrock: Not enough cash and prizes.
There is a new push under way for women who divorce to be rewarded with even greater amounts of cash and prizes. Dr. Helen tackles this in Elizabeth Warren Wants Men to 'Share the Pain'. It isn't just Elizabeth Warren lobbying for an increase in cash and prizes; The Atlantic has a new article out titled The Divorce Gap, painting a picture of men frivolously divorcing and kicking their hapless wives out on the street...
...And again, The Atlantic knows this because this is the business they are in. When The Atlantic isn't publishing articles like The Divorce Gap complaining that women don't get enough cash and prizes for divorcing, they are publishing articles like Let's Call the Whole Thing Off:
The author is ending her marriage. Isn't it time you did the same?...

Full retard, is what happened. One full retard.
We need that poster from over the weekend to bitch at how we're all going off-topic.
Off topic is the consequence of Reason being stingy with hat tips. Back in the day, when you got the full-throated hat tip because you sent a story tip directly to a Reason staffer (the way it used to be done when Reason was more civilized), you didn't need to pee OT all over the threads. Now it's an unregulated free-for-all.

Hulu Is Developing a Cable-Style Online TV Service
Interesting....how would that get past regulators? Didn't that rooftop antenna company do more or less the same thing and get shut down by the FCC?
Hulu is about to discover the unintended consequences of Net Neutrality.
I was thinking the exact same thing in the Netflix thread from earlier.
Aereo was a copyright thing, not an FCC thing.
Sling TV (owned by Dish Network) is offering a similar service without any major legal issues that I'm aware of. Note also that Hulu is co-owned by NBCUniversal, Fox, and Disney.
It's a war zone currently in London. No spoilers. #EPL

Huh?
Is it soccer-related, or solidarity protests with the french?
Well, it was definitely more likely that France could go without strikes for a year than this little league club winning the PL title.
5,000:1 odds. This is by far the least likely thing to have happened in the history of sports.
Predicting the Gamma
...Remember that Gammas can never be wrong and so regardless of what happens he will publicly claim victory and it's all a lot of fun. Of course the vitriol in his words betrays his emotions and instead he's furious. Being a Secret King means you never learn from being shown to be wrong. First the Gamma isn't wrong, second if someone thinks he's wrong they only misunderstood him, third if they understood him then it's just a lot of fun and games and he's not being serious, fourth if people think he's wrong, not misunderstood, it's not funny, then the other guy is an asshole. If all of this fails then the Gamma slinks off for a time.
"Remember that Gammas can never be wrong and so regardless of what happens he will publicly claim victory and it's all a lot of fun. "
Pick Up Artists are Gammas?
Yeah, it was a lot of words for "I am rubber and you are glue..."
This is an awful lot of commentary from a guy whom I'd bet a month's income goes home alone a lot to spank it furiously while growling how much "she" wanted it but couldn't have handled it
So from that "Millenials hate capitalism" poll:
the new Harvard poll, economic-policy preferences were pretty evenly split between those who want more government intervention and those who want less, with large numbers of respondents unsure what course of action they preferred. Nearly half had no opinion on whether "our country's goal in trade policy should be to eliminate all barriers to trade and employment so that we have a truly global economy." Some 27 percent said it should, while 24 percent said it should not.
More respondents agreed that "cutting taxes is an effective way to increase economic growth" (35 percent) than disagreed with this statement (22 percent). Thirty-eight percent neither agreed nor disagreed.
Ultimately, only 27 percent of millennials in the Harvard poll said they think the federal government should play a "large" role in regulating the economy, while 42 percent prefer it play a "moderate" role, 18 percent a "minimal" role, and 9 percent "no role" at all. The breakdown was similar for regulating Wall Street, with 30 percent wanting Uncle Sam to play a large role, 37 percent a moderate role, and 28 percent a minimal or no role.
So over three quarters of teh yutes want more regulation of Wall Street and the economy then what libertarians want (and that is ignoring what "minimal role" really means) and a large minority have no opinion on tax cuts or reducing trade barriers. Naturally this is proof of the libertarian moment.
It's boardrooms or bedrooms, pick one and only one.
So over *two-thirds* of teh yutes

So I see that Marvel Civil War's screenwriters claim that Captain America is "the anti-Donald Trump". So how many articles will Reason publish on that movie and claim that it is evidence of the Libertarian Moment?
Not soon enough.
Do you ever get tired of being so pathetic?
Winstonian moment!
I'm seeing it opening weekend and looking forward to it. It's getting great reviews, and based on the previews Cap actually *does* seem to be taking a somewhat libertarian position (or at least one that will resonate with libertarians). Having said that, I don't want them to ruin the movie with too much overt political commentary.
Not sure I understand the problem with PR? They borrowed more than they can pay back, now they're defaulting. Reverse the amendment that stripped them of BK protection. The creditors take a huge bath in bankruptcy. PR's credit is junk and the bond markets are closed to them for public services in perpetuity.
What's the downside?
The way out of this mess is simple: Congress should impose the same version of Chapter 9 bankruptcy that applies to the 50 states on Puerto Rico so as to give it bankruptcy protection to negotiate its non-general-obligation debts. This was, in fact, precisely what nearly 60 House and Senate Democrats proposed in 2015 with the Puerto Rico Uniformity Act of 2015. When House Republicans grudgingly came to accept such an approach, Democrats--abetted by the Treasury-- moved the goal post and began insisting that only Super Chapter 9 is sufficient. It should also ignore cries of colonialism and impose a strong and independent fiscal control board invested with the power to fix the commonwealth's budget problems.
A gross repudiation of the rule of law--which is precisely what a Puerto Rican settlement that punishes the holders of guaranteed bonds would be-- is not only unnecessary but it would also cost U.S. taxpayers and potentially prolong the island's economic morass.

Does it have a personals section?
Isn't their claim to fame "Jonathan Chait"?
Otherwise, i've always thought of NY Mag as sort of a boring extension of the NY Times Sunday magazine = a place where Tiffany and Cartier ads are mixed along side Mango Chutney recipes, fashion spreads, and some bullshit progressive Think-Pieces.
In important news, Eddie Hall generates 3+ horsepower. I dunno. That seems like a lot.

Yep, same guy. Though the record without straps is still 1015 and held by Benni Magnusson, I believe.
I see the BBC couldn't help but throw a little concern trolling into the article.

Virginia Republicans say they're going to challenge Democratic Gov. Terry McAuliffe's executive order restoring voting rights to more than 200,000 released felons
And I love the way the Stupid Party is selling their argument, like it's felons who are voting, from prison, and not people who have actually been released and are now actually x felons. I thought that the GOP are conservatives and that conservatives are all for following the constitution? Where in the Bill of Rights does it say 'These rights are guaranteed, unless you've ever served a prison sentence'? One has to logically come to the conclusion that both parties are equally horrible in different ways, intentionally, so that which ever party is in charge can keep on screwing us more from a new and different angle.
I hate virtually everyone in this case. McAuliffe realizes felons are mostly going to vote Democratic so he's engaged in a base attempt to expand his electorate and Republicans oppose it for the exact same reason.
You should get voting rights back after you've served your time, but everyone in this case is such a miserable fuck that I just can't bring myself to care about their posturing.
"Where in the Bill of Rights does it say 'These rights are guaranteed, unless you've ever served a prison sentence'?"
In fairness, the Bill of Rights also doesn't say that everyone has the right to vote. When the BOR was first ratified, only like 10% of the population had voting rights, if that.
I know he's doing it for the wrong reason, but it's still the right thing to do. The GOP keep reminding me why I dumped them a decade ago.
Where in the Bill of Rights does it say 'These rights are guaranteed, unless you've ever served a prison sentence'?
There's that thing known as the 13th Amendment... "Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

Where the North triumphs over the South is her independence. North Korea is arguably the most independent state in the world today, while the South remains a vassal of the USA, and was a vassal of Japan before that. The South doesn't even have control over their own military. The top commander is and has been a foreigner.

This is long overdue, and It's a good start.
My father visited Cuba back in the mid 1950's and called Cuba the jewel of the Caribbean.
I'm very interested how the dolar yanqui changes Cuba in the next two decades.
Hopefully, a healthy influence of capitalism will make Cuba a wonderful place to live for the Cuban people and a great place to visit.

Objectionable and cruel though it is, the Kim regime in Pyongyang is the cork that keeps this scary genii in its bottle. Any change in North Korea's equilibrium could plunge North Asia into the gravest crisis at a time when the region is also seething with tensions over China's attempts to dominate the South China Sea.
After foolishly overthrowing Libya's Col. Muammar Khadaffi, and thus unleashing waves of jihadism against North Africa, the Sahara and West Africa, one would think the West had learned a valuable lesson about being short-sighted and uneducated. But it seems here we go again in North Asia. The US just can't abstain from mixing in other people's local conflicts. Why else would US troops be scattered across West and East Africa?
Caution is advised. The Kim we know will always be preferable to the Kim we don't.
Wonder what he thinks of Donald Trump. He did say that he liked Chavez because:

There are some other stories about coordination between Assad and ISIS over the 'battle' of Palmyra.
Curt Schilling unpersoned:
ESPN issued a statement addressing the edit but did not explain why it chose to remove Game 6 specifically:
"When a live event runs long, it's standard procedure to shorten a taped program that follows," the network said. "In this case, we needed to edit out one of the film's four segments to account for the extra length of the softball game."
Sheer coincidence that it was Schilling's segment that got excised. I can't wait for the re-edited version wherein Chris Kluwe or Steve Nash is shown to be the winning pitcher. Sure it's the wrong sport in either case, but those athletes are on the right side of history.
