A Grand Rapids, Michigan, TV station has found that a number of cities in that state have not been following state law in setting their speed limits. Lawmakers say they plan to pass a law to force those cities to obey the law.

Speed traps are the bread and butter of every local municipality's budgeting. Who is the state to take that away?
No one in the article mentioned revenue generation. Talk about the elephant in the room.

Texas passed a law in 2003 telling cities and counties they can't prohibit licensed handgun carry in government buildings. The Legislature just (effective 9/1/2015) got around to passing a "This Means You" bill establishing penalties for violation of said law.
Last night on the 10 p.m. "news" there was a "Licensees will be able to carry GUNS in San Antonio City Hall! OMG!" story.
