Shikha Dalmia on Ted Cruz's Costly Border Control Dystopia

Sen. Ted Cruz wants to "fully" secure the border because America is a sovereign nation and sovereign nations apparently need a Border Leviathan with double fences and drones and border patrol agents to prove their sovereignty. But Reason Foundation Senior Analyst Shikha Dalmia asks whether his goal of "100 percent operational control of the border" is realistic. Even the Berlin Wall, the most fortified border in modern history, was successfully breached 1,000 times a year, after all. And can the senator erect the Great Wall of China on the Rio Grande and still "stand for liberty" as he says he'll do if—and it's a big if—he becomes president?
