Nanny Bloomberg Says Black Kids Can't Be Trusted with Guns
He can't be trusted to respect citizens' rights.

Former New York City mayor—and professional busybody and opponent of civil liberties—had some choice words for black kids during a question-and-answer session at the Aspen Institute last week. He accused young African Americans of violent nihilism and said that it was necessary to take away their right to have guns.
He also approvingly cited a speech by a black minister who had asked the members of his congregation to stop-and-frisk their kids so that "the mayor wouldn't have to."
According to the Aspen Times:
Bloomberg claimed that 95 percent of murders fall into a specific category: male, minority and between the ages of 15 and 25. Cities need to get guns out of this group's hands and keep them alive, he said.
"These kids think they're going to get killed anyway because all their friends are getting killed," Bloomberg said. "They just don't have any long-term focus or anything. It's a joke to have a gun. It's a joke to pull a trigger."
At one point, the former mayor brought up New York City's stop-and-frisk practices, which gained national attention in 2011. Bloomberg said that during his last year in office, a minister at a Baptist church in Harlem invited him to speak.
"While I'm sitting there waiting for him to introduce me, he said to his congregation, 'You know, if every one of you stopped and frisked your kid before they went out at night, the mayor wouldn't have to do it,'" Bloomberg said. "And so I knew I was going to be okay with that audience."
It's possible that this is a less-than-charitable interpretation of his remarks at the event, and that proper context would mitigate how offensive they are. Because they are indeed offensive.
But they do fit the approach that the man followed as mayor of NYC: presuming that some people, on account of their skin color, were likely to be up to no good and merited police detention. It seems that in Bloomberg's view, young black people are not fit to take care of themselves—or even capable of it—and thus should have no right to own guns.
If Bloomberg could be bothered to read the Constitution, he would know that there are several fairly important provisions written for the express purpose of preventing the government from taking away Americans' guns and from discriminating on the basis of race. It's still unconstitutional if you do both at the same time.

I love when the masks come off. His condescension and collectivism are mind-boggling. I mean, we already knew that, but it's nice when someone like him confirms it completely.
I can't wait for HuffPo and Salon to point out his racism.
MSNBC too.
You might want to start watching that paint dry, it's going to be a while.
Maybe a certain prominent politician could use this occasion to repeat his phrase "We Can't Wait".
or pigs might fly.
If they do, it will only be in the context of how he was once a republican.
I'm not convinced bloomberg ever had a mask. But that's just me.
Mayor Bloomberg; honorary membership in the white supremacist group of your choice awaits you!
I suppose none of his personal contingent of armed guards are 25 or under and black?
I sincerely hope this man suffers an injustice that makes him see the light. But I doubt it will ever happen because he's insulated himself to the point that his safety is ensured THROUGH ARMING THOSE AROUND HIM. Yet he wants to take that right away from common people (between the ages of 15 and 25 who also happen to be black).
He's important. Commoners are not. Everyone knows this.
He's also tiny, so maybe he's not aware of other people existing outside his wall of bodyguards.
Not 25 or under, I'd bet.
Black? Who knows.
Between 15 and 25 and black is just "A good start" for him. I'm sure he plans to disarm everyone else in time.
Well, to be fair, it isn't discrimination if you take the guns away from everybody.
Seriously ummmm you know who else?...
Sheriff "Little Bill" Daggett?
Wyatt Earp?
The district court when you enter for jury duty?
STEVE MUTHAFUCKIN SCALISE!!!
Virtually all gun control efforts though America's history have been implemented from the left as a means to control minorities.
Well, yeah. Minorities can't function in society without a white, progressive hand there helping them. That's why we need gun control, Affirmative Action, welfare, and all these other policies to save minorities from themselves. Anyone who disagrees is racist.
Wish more people knew that, and I always point it out to people opposed to gun control that the KKK started as a gun control organization.
I'm opposed to gun control, so it's OK with me that the KK is a gun control organization.
*KKK
Kaptious Kristen Krowd?
Dog forbid!
WOOF!
Note that it's not just about the guns. Those stupid black people, not knowing how to stay alive without help from their city.
It takes a village...(of whites to keep those dumb niggers alive).
Right, Mike?
LMFAO
Somebody's gotta give 'em comfortable shoes and a warm place to shit.
Who said that? Someone from Nixon's time = Butts? Too lazy to Bing it...
what? i didnt know you could use "bing" as a verb like "google". it's still a stupid search engine. i miss altavista
This makes sense because teenage and twentysomething males are known for seeing themselves as mortals.
"I promise I'll never die."
that's funny
Soave: a quibble. He also thinks many black men who are old enough to join the military by several years and are also old enough to serve on the NYPD can't be trusted with guns.
I think there's an argument to be made for all minors, regardless of race, to be kept from gun ownership. (Although I would not agree with it.) But to say men who could have voted for seven years, could be the rank of Captain in the Army or who could "serve" on the NYPD long enough to be a Sergeant, shouldn't have guns if they're black is the height of racism.
I wish the title of this story reflected that.
Soldiers and cops have had magical training that reverses the spell that makes the kids dangerous.
Standard leftist trope, even when expressed by white people. See the "Black NRA":

I love how feminists and race-hustlers seem to think that their chosen constituents have no agency or right to defend themselves.
Love that dude.

^^THIS IS THE PROBLEM RIGHT HERE^^
Ooops.
You trying to say blacks don't know how to eat right either?
+1 fuzzy Zoeller
'You know, if every one of you stopped and frisked your kid before they went out at night, the mayor wouldn't have to do it,' Bloomberg said.
As if the NYPD would know which kids were "pre-frisked."
As if they would even care.
God there are no words for how contemptuous this evil bastard is.
Even Bloomkberg knew he couldn't just round up young black men willy nilly and lock them in cages without any pretext whatsoever; hence, Stop n Frisk.
The hard bigotry of the limousine liberal; Mike haz it.
I don't have any stats to compare other cities but since it's NYC population 8M+, I have to imagine Bloomberg's stop and frisk has been the most overt institutional racism affecting the most black people since Jim Crow. And it was overwhelmingly supported by local whites according to polls.
I don't have any stats to compare other cities but since it's NYC population 8M+, I have to imagine Bloomberg's stop and frisk has been the most overt institutional racism affecting the most black people since Jim Crow.
These stats are all online and available. If it is "institutional racism" to stop and frisk young black men (Fourth Amendment issues aside), then is it "institutional racism" for young black men to commit violent crimes all out of proportion to their numbers? Are gang driveby shootings "racist?" What about flashmob attacks? Blacks commit these crimes at much higher rates than other races.
Blacks also commit inter-racial crime at very high rates, including mob attacks and some grisly torture-murders. Much of this is covered up by the mainstream media and academia because it does not fit their profile of America as a white privileged country.
And it was overwhelmingly supported by local whites according to polls.
Stop and frisk is also popular among blacks who are fed up with high crime rates. And of course, if the NYPD did not crack down on crime in black neighborhoods they would be accused of "racism" for neglecting the 'hood. Presumably, telling the truth about criminal justice statistics will now become "racism."
Quite Orwellian, is it not?
Flashmob attacks?
"And of course, if the NYPD did not crack down on crime in black neighborhoods they would be accused of "racism" for neglecting the 'hood. "
Many criminals keep robbing the hood because folks are prevented from owning guns to defend themselves with. Folks are not allowed the option of funding a security agency of their choice either. If they don't pay their taxes, the same folks that are supposed to "protect and serve" them will be there to "rob and jail" them.
'"These kids think they're going to get killed anyway because all their friends are getting killed," Bloomberg said. "They just don't have any long-term focus or anything. It's a joke to have a gun. It's a joke to pull a trigger."'
Remember when Paul Ryan said there might be a cultural problem in the inner cities and was decried as a racist? Bloomberg is making an argument which is more 'racist,' although I don't think either one is actually racist, yet we're not going to hear anything about his alleged racism because he's using it in service to the proper cause.
Also, as Raston Bot notes, Stop and Frisk is blatant racism given that they literally specifically target blacks and Hispanics.
When will we hear Bloomberg say, "Women- if you couldn't fuck 'em, there'd be a bounty on 'em."
It's possible that this is a less-than-charitable interpretation of his remarks at the event, and that proper context would mitigate how offensive they are. Because they are indeed offensive.
The reality is that black youth do commit murder and other violent gun crimes in New York City at higher rates than other races. The NYPD reports are here:
http://www.nyc.gov/html/nypd/h.....vity.shtml
Still, there is no call for depriving the vast majority of blacks of their Right to Bear Arms because of the criminality of a sector among them.
But it is interesting how so many libertarians have jumped on the "IT'S RACISM!!!" bandwagon when reality intrudes into egalitarian delusions. The reason so many black males are in prison is because they are committing a disproportionate amount of violent crime. Not because of "racism" or "institutional racism" or "white privilege." It is because they are initiating force against the lives and properties of other people.
If the truth is "offensive," then so be it.
As you said,if the truth is offensive, so be it. I would put it as follows though. While truth may offend some, it is still truth.
I would go further and say that black's BLIND and unconditional support for politicians espousing policies wholly and demonstrably deleterious to the black community is the biggest factor in the other cultural pathologies that we see from that community.
Why ain't this guy at the bottom of the East River?
I wonder how conflicted paleocons are over this article
Bloomberg is a double talking bum. Re most things, I disagree with the man. That being said, see below, reproduced the title of this article.
Nanny Bloomberg Says Black Kids Can't Be Trusted with Guns
He can't be trusted to respect citizens' rights.
Re the first part, unfortunately he is correct, tough the thing should read Some, as opposed to being al all encompassing generalization. .
Re the second part, the bit about respecting citizens rights, that is also correct, for he has time and time again showed that conclusion to be factual. The man cannot be trusted to respect anyone's rights but those he views as his own.
Bloomberg is not, never has been, a real Republican.
Republicans both real and fake are still statist slavers that prefer their own version of force, coercion, and theft.
:0P
"It's a joke to have a gun. It's a joke to pull a trigger."
So says the douche bag with a security detail that has guns that require the pulling of that trigger to defend his sorry @$$.
Bloomberg: HELP!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!! He's trying to kill me!!!!!" SHOOT HIM!!!!!!
Security detail: Sir.....We are a serious company that doesn't joke around. We are unable to complete your request at this time.
If Bloomberg where a character in an Ayn Rand novel, his statements would be considered unbelievable and too over the top.
