Torture Report: Obama "Consistently Supported" Declassification but His Administration Hid 9,400 Documents from Senate
Regarding the release today of the Senate Torture Report (full report embedded in Nick Gillespie's post below) President Obama issued a statement in which he praised America and its CIA for its wonderful virtues, assured us he is against torture and that he, good guy that he is, stopped it while continuing to be fully dedicated to crushing America's foes across the globe.
Obama also stated that "I have consistently supported the declassification of today's report. No nation is perfect. But one of the strengths that makes America exceptional is our willingness to openly confront our past, face our imperfections…."
Yet footnote two on page nine of the report tells us:
The Committee did not have access to approximately 9,400 CIA documents related to the CIA's Detention and Interrogation Program that were withheld by the White House pending a determination and claim of executive privilege. The Committee requested access to these documents over several years, including in writing on January 3, 2013, May 22, 2013, and December 19, 2013. The Committee received no response from the White House.
Face those imperfections, President Obama.

I don't think Obama considers the CIA as part of his administration. IIRC, it was the occasion of the kerfuffle between the CIA and Feinstein that Obama said he wasn't "going to get in the middle of it." (paraphrase)
Obama lied? Shocked, I am.
Alt text: Joe Wilson is still waiting for the Left's apologies to roll in.
Biggest liar and totalitarian to inhabit the White House since Woodrow Wilson lies again. Color me surprised. Why can't the progs and team blue just admit that this administration is just Bush 2 part II with the added hell of Obamacare and numerous other "not" scandals. Why don't we just admit that with a very few exceptions like Paul and Amash we really just have Team Purple.
You know, even if it weren't actually *within your statutory authority* as chief executive to release the report on your own - you've got that pen and phone, remember?
Mr. "Presidebt," please, in the vein of "what IS is..." define 'consistently supported' for us?
Thanks.
Obama has always supported doing the right thing. Until he had the power to do it.
