Tonight's live episode of The Independents (Fox Business Network, 9 p.m. ET, 6 p.m. PT, with re-airs three hours later) is just EXPLODING with news, starting with that picture to your right of an Antares Rocket failing to launch more than about 10 seconds tonight off the the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport in Virginia.

Speaking of explosive, this Rebel Pundit video of Chicago activists bashing Democrats and the "black on black crime down at City Hall" is getting a lot of attention:

On to discuss are Party Panelists Basil Smikle (Democratic political strategist) and Noelle Nikpour (columnist/GOP strategist). The two will also analyze the latest pre-election polls, and react to today's statement by Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) that "no one thinks" Senate Republicans will be able to repeal Obamacare.

Libertarian Party Senate candidate in North Carolina, Sean Haugh, is back on to talk about the "more weed less war" enthusiasm for his candidacy, which is currently polling well over the margin between the two major-party candidates.

A new Fox poll shows that fully 67 percent of Americans think the White House appointment of an Ebola Czar is just a P.R. stunt; the co-hosts will discuss. And have you heard the one about Matt Stohlandske, a board member of Evangelicals for Marriage Equality, who has decided to donate money to a Portland-based couple who are facing a $150,000 fine for refusing to bake a cake for a gay wedding? He'll be on to explain his thinking.

Online-only aftershow begins at foxbusiness.com/independents just after 10. Follow The Independents on Facebook at facebook.com/IndependentsFBN, follow on Twitter @ independentsFBN, and click on this page for more video of past segments.

"A new Fox poll shows that fully 67 percent of Americans think the White House appointment of an Ebola Czar is just a P.R. stunt;"

34% were laughing too hard to answer.

    1. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

Mr. Sevo. Can I have a word with you?

      Maths teacher.

      1. Sevo   11 years ago

Hey, I meant well! (looking for edit function....)

      2. DK   11 years ago

Well, he was just rounding. The official numbers were 66.5% and 33.5%.

I'll go them one better. I think Ebola is just a PR stunt.

    1. PapayaSF   11 years ago

You haven't seen the "Ebola is a hoax" commenters around the web? (And I don't mean Cytotoxic.)

because NASA never blew up a rocket

        1. gaijin   11 years ago

Yes. In fact, I think they blew this one up!

        2. Sevo   11 years ago

"because NASA never blew up a rocket"

Well, congress passed a law against it and then it stopped!

          1. TheZeitgeist   11 years ago

Exploding Antares is (was) powered by refurbed NK-33 Soviet motors from their 60's era sketchy moon rocket.

So it was socialism that blew up the rocket..

    3. Mike M.   11 years ago

Would it be wrong to suggest that NASA spend less time on bullcrap like nonexistent manmade global warming and more time on building rockets that don't explode?

      1. Suthenboy   11 years ago

Yes. If he has his fingerprints anywhere on it, it is guaranteed to not only explode, but to fly off randomly and land in a residential neighborhood first.

Barry has the kiss of death.

        1. PapayaSF   11 years ago

The way things have been going for Democrats, I'm surprised it didn't land on one of their Congressional candidates.

  5. Sevo   11 years ago

BTW, I think San Jose just passed a new M/W law:

"Four robots are being tested an Orchard Supply Hardware store owned by Lowe's Companies Inc. in San Jose, California."
    http://finance.yahoo.com/news/.....nance.html

    1. Jesus H. Christ   11 years ago

I thought Sears owned Orchard? Ah, Sears bought it in 1996, managed to bury it in debt during the biggest construction boom in 40 years, then unloaded it.

The fact that Orchard did not drown in an ocean of revenue, but rather in debt during the real estate bubble is tragic.

I still like a lot of Sears products, Craftsman, Kenmore etc. but damn they just can't seem to manage anything right.

      1. Sevo   11 years ago

The local OSH (in San Mateo; SF would never allow a store larger than 3sq ft!) was wonderful! Great stock, great service; dunno how they ran it into the ground.

        1. Pl?ya Manhattan.   11 years ago

Just got a flooring estimate from Home Depot. I'll save that rant for later.

          1. Steve G   11 years ago

I did a floor through HD (or Lowes, I forget) once. All it taught me was to skip them next time and find a local contractor and save 10-20%

        2. Careless   11 years ago

          3 square feet?

          1. Careless   11 years ago

I mean, I know it's a typo, I just can't figure out what it was supposed to say.

  6. GILMORE   11 years ago

"a Portland-based couple who are facing a $150,000 fine for refusing to bake a cake for a gay wedding?"

What if they just change their mind and bake the cake?

    1. Rev-Match   11 years ago

That transaction is not beholden to any prior contract. As such, it is involuntary and the bakers are protected on 13A grounds.

Not that it matters. That's just my 10 cents. (my 2 cents is free)

    2. PapayaSF   11 years ago

I think they should, and see if the customers who sued them would actually eat it. I wouldn't.

  7. cavalier973   11 years ago

The African-American community was in the process of taking its destiny in its own hands back in the late 1950's, then the FedGov intervened "on their behalf".

    1. Bo Cara Esq.   11 years ago

Yeah, that whole being able to vote, being able to go to non segregated schools and not being lynched was overrated.

      1. Sevo   11 years ago

Yeah, you screaming asshole, none of that would have happened without the government.

        1. Bo Cara Esq.   11 years ago

Yeah, Brown v Board was a state Supreme Court case and the VRA was passed by the Alabama legislature!

          1. Sevo   11 years ago

            Bo Cara Esq.|10.28.14 @ 8:34PM|#
"Yeah, Brown v Board was a state Supreme Court case and the VRA was passed by the Alabama legislature!"

Yeah, and passing those laws just made everything ducky, right, asshole?
Where did you major in stupidity?

            1. Bo Cara Esq.   11 years ago

Again, we're back to 'Yeah, that whole being able to vote, being able to go to non segregated schools and not being lynched was overrated.'

It's like a strange, parallel universe where it would be in libertarian to admit that federal intervention to end Jim Crow was an excellent thing, especially for blacks.

              1. Sevo   11 years ago

No, asshole, we're back to Bo proving himself a flaming piece of shit.

              2. cavalier973   11 years ago

Rolling back bad laws is very libertarian; instituting new laws that pretty much have the same effect as the old laws, but done with a "gentler hand", is not.

                Ending legally enforced segregation: Good
                Forced Busing: Bad

But you know this, you garrulous crackhead.

                1. Sevo   11 years ago

                  "Ending legally enforced segregation: Good"

Problem is, the ruling made it illegal, but it didn't end it. Typical lefty stupidity: Pass a law and everything is fixed!
The work of changing minds didn't get done by government; it got done by people of good will interacting, and maybe a bit slower as a result of the threatened force.

      2. cavalier973   11 years ago

Ha! You're such a clever fellow!

Let's see; being able to vote. That's really improved their lot in life, so you get a point there.

Being able to go to non-segregated schools; because black children only learn if they're around white children. It's so nice that white people haven't just moved away, and that schools are therefore no longer segregated.

And not being lynched. I bow my head in shame when I think of all the laws that allowed, nay, required lynching of black people. I'm glad that the Civil Rights Act gave violent bigots pause, and made them rethink their lynching activities.

        /Guess What?

        1. Sevo   11 years ago

"It's so nice that white people haven't just moved away, and that schools are therefore no longer segregated."

But, but, but, they passed a LAW! So, see, libertarians are wrong and stuff!
And you hate black people, right?!
          /egotistical asshole

      3. Careless   11 years ago

Lynching was over before that period. Less than one a year during the Eisenhower administration.

      1. Rich   11 years ago

What is this "rationale" to which you allude?

      2. Mike M.   11 years ago

The rationale, if you can call it that, is that this vile, disgusting cretin Obama doesn't give a flying crap about America. He's far more sympathetic to Africa than he is to the United States. He in fact wrote an entire book years ago explaining how he sees the world called "Dreams from my Father." Anyone who still hasn't read this book should, because it explains everything.

You simply can't view this president through the same kind of lens that you would a normal president, because we've never had a president like this before in America until now.

        1. John   11 years ago

No we haven't. He is not going to stop. He really doesn't care. Even the Dems getting killed next week won't affect him. I don't know what we are going to do. But only the Dems can stop him.

          1. PapayaSF   11 years ago

This has got to be giving Hillary headaches. How is she supposed to run as a Democrat in 2016 if the entire brand is in the toilet? How can she "motivate the base" while distancing herself from Obama?

Maybe Obama just doesn't care. Maybe he wants the GOP to take over in 2016 so they they have to clean up his mess, and he can blame it all on them.

I think the exploding rocket video really sends a message to all of us: reminding us that in this time of anxiety, when we face diseases, terrorists, the threat of global warming, a moribund economy, when relations between political groups are strained, when men and woman look at each other with contempt and suspicion, that sometimes, an event can occur which breaks us out of our malaise and helps us all think about that which is larger than any one of us, something about which we can all agree:

        nice!

  21. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

    It exploded?

    Needs more government.

    Duh.

  22. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

    Scarlet K.

  23. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

    Oh the humanity.

  24. Slammer   11 years ago

    Unmanned.

    SEXIST!

  25. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

    Hey, they're not NAKED!

    1. gaijin   11 years ago

      They are under their clothes!

      1. Slammer   11 years ago

Hopefully she has a pink thong with a big K on it.

  26. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

You absolutely are not known for that.

    promote the economy...blah blah...capitalism

    Through big-government mercantilism...

  28. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

Wow, the party spokespeople are really going out of their way to argue the voters out of their cynicism!

    1. gaijin   11 years ago

Are you saying that words are not all powerful? Heresy!

  29. gaijin   11 years ago

Puhleese...we don;t need more congressional action...unless they plan on undoing things

  30. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

    Game 7 it is.

    1. Rich   11 years ago

Indeed. Nice inning for the Royals.

    2. Slammer   11 years ago

Why? They play 2 innings nowadays?

      1. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

        7-0, brah.

        1. Slammer   11 years ago

          Probly Game 7...baseball's weird, tho'.

          1. Sevo   11 years ago

True, but I don't see 8 runs in the Giant's lineup.

          2. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

Yeah, it's early if they start to chip away and get to Ventura who seems shaky.

            1. John   11 years ago

He just got out of the jam. Giants had bases loaded and one out and didn't get a run. That hurts

              1. Sevo   11 years ago

And Posey usually passes on those DP pitches.

                1. BigT   11 years ago

It was a high fastball - a good pitch for a fly ball. Posey overcompensated and swung above it.

  31. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

A lot of Democrats don't look to government to whaaaaaaaaaaa? NOTHING. THEY DON'T NOT LOOK TO GOVERNMENT FOR ONE DAMN THING.

    1. John   11 years ago

They just look to government for the sacred things like free birth control and to force people to make gay wedding cakes.

    2. Sevo   11 years ago

Did you know some baseball players took drugs? Well, we need a congressional investigation!

      1. Slammer   11 years ago

You know which players took drugs? Fucking all of them.

        1. Sevo   11 years ago

          Do you know who cares?
Congress and self-righteous sports writers with inches to fill.

  32. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

GOP loves Obamacare. They loooooooooooove it.

  33. Rev-Match   11 years ago

I disagree. The D's run awfully negative campaigns all the time, while accusing their opponent R's of doing it, and they (the D's) win.

  34. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

It's old and gives ammunition to the lefties.

    BUT HE DIDN'T SAVE NATURE!

  35. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

Foster slaps down the Obama apologist. TO HIS FACE.

  36. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

Ah, the President's *style* is wrong, he hasn't been communicating his successes properly!

    1. John   11 years ago

He is just too good for us. The country doesn't deserve a man like him. His problem is he is just too modest.

    2. Scruffy Nerfherder   11 years ago

      Paging Mrs Suderman

    3. Rich   11 years ago

      *** meekly raises hand ***

Mr. President, would you just mention one of your successes?

      1. gaijin   11 years ago

        HE KILLED BIN LADEN!!!

        1. Rich   11 years ago

Mr. President, would you *prove* you killed bin Laden?

          1. gaijin   11 years ago

            RACIST!

          2. Sevo   11 years ago

  42. Rev-Match   11 years ago

  43. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

Kennedy. Just invite yourself four times and have your own House of Mirrors. That way you can interrupt yourself to your hearts content.

  44. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

Kennedy: Sean Haugh will become senator over my dead body!

  45. GILMORE   11 years ago

The Independents Attire Review, 28 October 2014

Don't Say We Never Gave You Anything-Edition

    - Kennedy: Some one appears to be making a bid for membership in the Pink Ladies. We personally think The Independents are a high-school gang cool enough on their own, and that we'd totally take her to the sock-hop if her boyfriend loses the drag race at Thunder Road.

    - Matt: PowerMatt-'biting John Bolton's Style'-edition. His attire tonight is so banging hardcore that we expect him to conform to its ideological demands and insist upon immediate carpet bombing of Iran in order to not 'appear weak' in the face of Ebola. +1 REAL AMERICANS WEAR RED TIES

    - Kmele: Booyahka! Whenever we see this, we feel he's missing some gold-Gucci sunglasses and a giant Cohiba cigar... and a Bentley on spinning rims... and 2 or 3 strippers...and a swimming pool in a nightclub.... Basically, we think he's supposed to be the star of a really over-budgeted No Limit Records music video. +1 Make 'em say uhhhhhhhh.

    Merci Beaucoup

    1. John   11 years ago

Kennedy was the original queen bee and its Reason. So of course her boyfriend loses the drag race. Do you know how slow a Prius quarter mile time is?

  46. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

They're surviving because they have ebole. Not ebola.

  47. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

  49. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

    Obama.

    1. Sevo   11 years ago

Hey, and he appointed a guy to, uh,...

  50. Slammer   11 years ago

    Science driven policy. Great.

    1. Scruffy Nerfherder   11 years ago

I hear that phrase and think of a non-English speaking Chinese physics grad student behind the wheel of a used Honda Accord

      1. gaijin   11 years ago

        I'm always reminded of phrenology

        1. Scruffy Nerfherder   11 years ago

          Don't forget eugenics

      2. JeremyR   11 years ago

I took classes from him in college.

Ah, the fun of trying to find a teacher that spoke English...

  51. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

What is this? They're just having a discussion in the middle of the show about a topic with just the hosts? With no gimmick like Topical Storm or Keepin' It Droppin' Your G's or whatever?

  52. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

The best thing that can happen to West Africa is if it moves HERE!

  53. Rev-Match   11 years ago

Why were Natt and Jmele still sitting during the Tropical Storn if they weren't talking?

    1. GILMORE   11 years ago

What, you're expecting them to go play ping pong?

      1. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

They may as well. In the background.

  59. GILMORE   11 years ago

Prediction = black democratic strategist will laugh at the idea that blacks will ever abandon Democrats

    1. GILMORE   11 years ago

      !!

Do those idiots know that bears can, you know, run and pounce pretty quickly?

    ISO 9001? That's better than ISO 9000!

  62. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

I think Lady Liberty is shedding a tear back there.

  63. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

    Neo-liberal. Ugh.

  64. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

There's no tearing. He's going full steam ahead Democrat agenda.

  65. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

Wait, what is black democrat guy saying?

    1. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

Holy crap, self-criticism from both the party spokespeople?

    2. GILMORE   11 years ago

after laughing about the idea, he confesses "yeah, they get screwed"

And that's about as far as that conversation will go. I sincerely doubt he's going to say, 'We need to do more to encourage 'economic opportunity'

  66. Rev-Match   11 years ago

I had a black agenda once. I filled it up with all the things in my schedule for about a year. It served its purpose.

    1. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

      My black agenda was evil.

  67. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

    DID SHE JUST SAY BLACKS?

  68. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

    Pander harder, GOP!

  69. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

    DID HE JUST SAY COLORED?

    1. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

      No. He said COLOURED.

      1. Sevo   11 years ago

But the C is silent, right?

        1. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

          Hard. Like my...never mind.

          1. Slammer   11 years ago

Hard like maths? Or is that Britain?

  70. Slammer   11 years ago

  72. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

Same crap up here. Notice the racial/religious/gender make up of the Conservative party behind Harper:

    1. John Titor   11 years ago

What's with the two major parties and making sure that a Sikh is always in their party photos? The Tory's have Tim Uppal and the Liberals have that guy who's name escapes me. Most people don't even know who they are or think they're Muslim.

      1. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

        Are you suggesting they're plants?

        1. John Titor   11 years ago

I honestly don't know enough about either's political career to make that judgement. I just find it interesting. Hell, even Rick Mercer mocked Bains.

          1. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

            THAT'S HILARIOUS!

      2. John Titor   11 years ago

        Navdeep Bains, that's the guy.

      3. Sevo   11 years ago

"What's with the two major parties and making sure that a Sikh is always in their party photos?"

        They're Canada's Romas?

  73. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

Yeah, ultra-white Matt Welch is going to tell the black community what they're thinking. COME ON.

  74. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

Hey. This black panelist knows where it's at!

    1. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

He's going to be getting some calls about his heresies.

    2. Slammer   11 years ago

Did he call a spade a spade?

  75. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

What's the link to the after show?

  76. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

Hey, Al Jazeera is advertising on Fox!

    1. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

Al Jazeera. We report. You accept it.

  77. gaijin   11 years ago

I needed a monocle polisher and I found it on Fiver!

  78. gaijin   11 years ago

    Yeah Matt!

  79. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

He should identify more with a guy who doesn't know to stick his head through a necktie when appearing on television.

  80. GILMORE   11 years ago

Kennedy has brain fart; everyone smiles and acts politely

    1. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

      Happens.

  81. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

Kennedy's lost control of the dialogue.

  82. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

    This is interesting...

    1. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

Will TI be talking to the bakers?

      1. gaijin   11 years ago

I would tune in to see that

        1. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

I'm glad I'm not in their position, I'd probably go passive-aggressive: "I'm glad that this guy wants to partially compensate us for the damage caused by his fellow SSM advocates."

  83. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

IS IT SO DIFFICULT TO PUT A CLOCK UP FOR GUESTS TO UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH TIME THEY HAVE LEFT?

    1. Rufus J. Firefly   11 years ago

IT DOESN'T MATTER! Kennedy will interrupt them to let them know.

      1. Buddy Bizarre   11 years ago

She tried, but he kept on talking!

  84. Rev-Match   11 years ago

Do we, at least, get to see the EXPLOSION? (I have yet to google it.)

  85. Slammer   11 years ago

If the side effect is throat swelling and trouble breathing how the hell can I tell my doctor?

    1. Sevo   11 years ago

And do you have to wait 240 minutes before you call him about that boner?

      1. Slammer   11 years ago

If I get a 4 hour boner call the whorehouse not the doctor.

  86. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

That guy was just collecting money for the bakers to promote helping kids. IT WAS ALL A SCAM.

  87. Rev-Match   11 years ago

    That's one expensive firework.

  88. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

JUST BECAUSE YOU LOOK LIKE A 60'S ERA NASA POINDEXTER DOESN'T MEAN YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT, WELCH.

    1. PH2050   11 years ago

      Haha, nice!

  89. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

    Ah. Not Lou Dobbs.

  90. Slammer   11 years ago

    Gah!! Ashley Webster!

  91. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

He's playing the long con. Getting to heaven. It's all a scam.

  92. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

Matt Welch loves marriage licensing. He looooooooooooooves it.

  93. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

Wow, that Republican babe is such a hard-core SoCon!

    1. John   11 years ago

Only the pretty SOCONS get on TV. The homely broads better be feminists or go home.

      1. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

To be fair, my SoCon remark was sarcastic.

  94. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

Air on a G String. IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN.

  95. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

I don't want to see Matt Welch do the Humpty Dance.

  96. GILMORE   11 years ago

hmmmmm aftershow.... or 'Rise of ISIS' on PBS?....

Matt Welch doing the Humpty-hump? Yeah, i'm going to go watch the terrorists now...

  97. Notorious G.K.C.   11 years ago

  100. Fist of Etiquette   11 years ago

YOU MAKE MONEY ON WEDDINGS. Who are you married fuckers trying to kid?

    1. John   11 years ago

Sure you do, if you are the caterer.

  101. GILMORE   11 years ago

The New York Giants played in the polo grounds, not the Bronx, Basil
