A stream from St. Louis County.
One more video from Ferguson tonight: Police break up a protest with gas, rubber bullets, and firecrackers. Things start to get crazy about nine minutes in:

Dramatic irony
Paranoia played a big role in militarizing the police.
Well that and DHS looking to justify an ever-increasing budget.
Paranoia played a big role in the DHS's budget too...
Alpha Complex was always a self-fulfilling prophecy, no?
So does this incident actually raise the profile of police militarization enough that politicians actually start talking about it?
I mean, anything they actually do to address it will be mere window dressing, but up until now it has been pretty universally ignored.
I imagine the narrative will be redirected into race and identity politics more narrowly and any discussion of the larger issues of the criminalization of modern life and the militarization of police will be largely buried or repressed.

That or arguing how this proves that we are still vulnerable so we need to spend more money on cops.
Fair enough. Progressives will argue that it's a race/identity politics issue and that will be the default narrative it shapes. And most "conservatives" will appeal for more federal funding for local police forces or try to tiptoe around comments about endemic cultural problems within certain communities.
But there is a chance that if someone like Rand Paul takes it the issue up, he can draw attention to it (assuming the unrest continues, because the story is dead within 24 hours of that happening). Of course it's a political hot potato, because progressives will just accuse him of either pandering or being racist by making the issue about something other than collective identity while he may lose some much needed traditional L&O conservative support in his bid for the nomination.
If Rand Paul were to show up there and have a word, it could make a huge impact.
It might, but maybe not in the way you expect.
He would be accused of pandering and then Rachael Maddow would stir up shit about the Civil Rights Act and call him a hypocrite.
Then he would lose 15% of the "white" vote, etc. Not the klan vote but the ordinary people vote, like some in my family or that I went to high school with near Ferguson, MO that are now in full "scared of the black rioter's mode".

Jesus Christ. It looks like some third world hellhole.
It is missouri.
I'd like to see you say that to John Goodman's face.
With so much chaos, someone will do something stupid. And when they do, things will turn nasty. And then, Obama will be forced do the only thing he knows how to do. At which point, all he needs to do is keep his word. And then...
...Tee time.
...In Palm Springs,
Nah, the rich only do winter tee times in Palm Springs.
Pebble Beach. And a speech at Cannery Row or some other such destination in the greater Monterey area so he can bill it to the taxpayer.
How is he going to campaign on this?
Wait. He has to keep his word? Sounds like a lot of nothing. However, he did say drones would not be used against US citizens. Therefore, I fully expect to see some Hellfire missiles before dawn.
"politicians want the black people vote yet they won't come down here.
Taxes just went up"
I think i love that lady.
But I bet she still votes D.
So? I voted for Clinton the first time.
Disenchantment is a wondrousness miracle no matter when it happens or who it happens too.
Her impulses are leading her in the right direction.
The cops don't seem to realize that the "demonstrators" they're trying to keep in line at night are mostly young folks who have nothing better to do; the ones still IN school haven't started classes yet, and the ones out of school can't find work if they want it. They're bored, and haven't had so much fun all year.
Of course, I'm willing to bet a lot of the cops haven't had this much fun in a long time either.

Sugarfreed.
It is Policeone. Probably just as well.
Oh, sorry.
Do you really want to go there though?
One article on P1 actually referred to us little people as "subjects." Sometimes the mask slips, and sometimes it just ends up in the trash.
That's an improvement. Usually they refer to us as a POS.
From what I see it's the cops who doing all the "rioting"...
People who can't cross the street in proper order or those who deliberately lollygag in front of your car in some misplaced display/attempt at being the alpha beast of their particular little dirt pile SHOULD get a hot lead injection.
And it doesn't have to come from the cops, either.
