Cop Caught on Dash Cam: 'I don't do dogs…I'll shoot the fucking thing.' He did.

A woman in Michigan has filed a lawsuit over the shooting of her pitbull Lexie by police in St. Clair Shores. According to her lawsuit, one police officer was caught on dash cam footage (obtained through a Freedom of Information request) premeditating his puppycide. Via CBS Detroit, the suit:
While the Lexie was barking from her front porch, a police officer was recorded on the police dash cam stating, "The only thing I'm gonna do is shoot it anyway. I do not like dogs." Subsequent dash camera audio recording revealed an officer stating, "I don't do snares, I don't do dogs . . . I'll shoot the fucking thing." Next, the police officer was recorded stating that Lexie who was barking on her front porch was "a vicious dog."
He apparently got what he wanted. CBS Detroit reports:
The suit also claims that "it is unreasonable to show up for a barking dog complaint with an express premeditated intent to shoot her and then to repeatedly shoot her. When Lexie did not die, they apparently took her and shot her several more times."
The woman, Brittany Preston, said at the time of the shooting, last November, that cops shot her dog at least eight times. She said she left her dog with her grandfather while working an overnight shift and that he forgot to let the dog back into the house. Police were responding to the noise complaint. She said cops surrounded her dog even while her grandfather was trying to let Lexie in.

Is it nut-punch Thursday?
Is it nut-punch Thursday?
FIFY, NTN.
Looks like this poor officer needs some sensitivity training. On overtime of course.
Cop ranks aren't filled with sociopaths or anything. No way. No, when they torture and kill animals, it's the opposite of a marker for a sociopath.
"It was coming right for me!!"
when they torture and kill animals, it's the opposite of a marker for a sociopath.
They think the rest of the rules don't apply to them, so why not that one too?
Oh, I'm sure that none of them look at their own tendencies and go "you know, I'm behaving like a sociopath", so yes, why not that one too?
Violent, sadistic sociopaths to the Police, mashers and pedophiles to the TSA.
The Americans with Disabilities Act in action.
How is this not felony animal cruelty? It would be if you or I shot a dog without justification on his own porch.
Officer safety!
Tell me again about how most cops are good law-abiding cops.
Because when one of these fuckers goes completely off the reservation, there's always a crowd of them around, it seems. And not one single cop out of the whole crowd says or does a damn thing.
A reminder of what can happen to a good cop.

Bogota, New Jersey, police officer Regina Tasca responded to a call about a young man who was being erratic. She was supposed to transport him to the hospital. Two of her fellow officers, though, thought they were more supposed to jump on him and kick him in the head and shit ? you know, the law! Tasca jumped in and managed to pry the officers off the young man. What do you suppose has happened since? A commendation, maybe? Definitely a commendation right? Haha no of course not. She has been suspended from duty for being "psychologically unfit.

If those goons said I was psychologically unfit to be a cop, I would be quite proud.
And by "pitbull," we mean cocker spaniel. Or black lab. They're all pitbulls when they're dead.
His name is Robert Paulson.
It was a life-or-death situation. First responders, thin blue line, etc.
ITS BARKING RIGHT AT ME!
blamblamblamblamblam.
Fuck ALL cops.
Even if you aren't one of these fuckers, you tolerate them among you, which still makes you a shitbag.
HEY, COLLECTIVIST MU....oh, wait - you're right...
OWW, MY FUCKING NUTS!!!
And fuck this fucking pig, I hope the fucker dies in the most painful way imaginable and then spends eternity getting violently penetrated by the DOOMCOCK.
But shoot a police dog because you're in reasonable fear of being maimed or killed by this specially-trained-to-attack-humans carnavore, and see just how much trouble you get into.
Some animals are more equal than others.
That's not an animal, it's a police officer. But I repeat myself.
The best part is the taxpayer-funded "cop" funeral.
This. I'm reminded of the San Diego case where the cops turned a dog loose on a homeless guy with a stick who was obviously terrified of dogs. When he ran away with the stick towards a cop (he was surrounded), they shot him dead.
Just goes to show which animals are the most dangerous.
She said cops surrounded her dog even while her grandfather was trying to let Lexie in.
"No fucking way you're letting the dog into the house! Someone complained, and now we're going to kill it!"
it is unreasonable to show up for a barking dog complaint with an express premeditated intent to shoot her and then to repeatedly shoot her.
Reporting a crime != complaining.
FIFY
Right now on PoliceOne or some other cop hangout, someone is expressing earnest bafflement at why people don't seem to trust cops anymore.
They just want to know you won't forget them when they're gone, Hugh. And judging from your love of Glass Tiger, you won't.
I am honestly amazed that she was able to obtain the footage since regulars here are well-aware how often the equipment malfunctions when it might have recorded something that would get a cop in trouble.
Still, we all know that he's going to get at worst a paid vacation.
All he did was kill a dog. There's never any consequences for that. So they don't care.
All the usual comments aside, and regardless of what he did........... you have to wonder at the intelligence of a guy who talks like that when he knows he's being recorded.
That was my thought (although, admittedly, I didn't watch the video): "Who the hell is he talking to?"
... Hobbit
- "regulars here are well-aware how often the equipment malfunctions when it might have recorded something that would get a cop in trouble"
That odds of that happening appear to be roughly equivalent to the probability of a PC hard drive experiencing an unrecoverable malfunction if it contains e-mail correspondence from/to Lois Lerner.
I think we should try crowdfunding an all expenses paid Malaysia Airlines world trip for many of the cops cited in H&R articles. We'll plan it based on flight paths that include the dispute Russia/Ukraine border regions, Isreal/Palestine/Syria/Iraq, and over the Indian Ocean.
Would their Frequent Flyer Miles be taxable?
Maybe Mandalay can show up and berate the anti-cop attitude around here.
You mean Tulpa, right?
There are gradients of crazy.
Tulpa is a higher gradient of crazy than you think.
I wasn't certain of it until today, but his performance in the other thread was verification of his lunacy.
I've been certain of it since he proved himself utterly incapable of understanding why lying to people as a sockpuppet might bother them and ruin whatever reputation he still managed to maintain. That's sociopath behavior.
At least they didn't kill her grandfather.
^This.
That's what we're left with - being thankful that someone was left alive.
I don't like to think of myself as a violent person, but I swear on everything I hold dear that if a cop were to shoot one of my dogs I would kill that cop on the spot or die trying. I like to think of myself as a reasonable person, but only insofar as other people are willing to be reasonable. Some powertripping pig who gets off on shooting animals (and probably people, because, let's be honest, this is typical sociopathic behavior) is clearly not interested in resolving a potential conflict, so the best response is to respond in kind. Hell, the next dog that doesn't get shot will thank you. Besides which, I'm the only person I'm comfortable with walking around my property with a firearm, badge or not.
I'm actually comfortable with most of my friends and collegues being armed on my property. Just not cops.
When the Troubles come, I won't have any qualms about leaving cops outside the wire.
And shooting any who try to come in. Sure, there's probably one or two who are decent human beings, but I think I'll play the odds on that one, and not take the chance.
Well, if it saves just one life...
*I would kill that cop on the spot or die trying*
Get ready to "die trying".
I think it's more an "and" than an "or". Sure, you'll definitely die. But based on the accuracy these guys demonstrate, I'm pretty sure a three year old could out duel any of them. You'll take out the cop that killed your dog, but you'll be taken out by a hail of bullets from the other 50 that back him up.
Who said anything about giving the cop a fair go? While he's busy shooting your dog and high fiving his buddies, you should be able to put him down.
I wouldn't. Not on the spot.
I don't know what's more sickening. They fired four shots, and couldn't even get a clean kill. They shoot again, and they still didn't put the dog out of its misery. It survived another few hours.
In between shots, you hear the standard defense. The one cop asks the other if he saw it come at him (even with just the audio, seems highly unlikely) to which the other responds of course. All the while, eye witnesses disagree with that version.
What you have is a few cops who are too lazy and inhumane to wait for animal control. They are then too incompetent or sick in the head to even give the dog a clean death.
They then have the nerve to complain about people recording them near the end.
What you have is a few cops who are too lazy and inhumane to wait for animal control.
Those few cops are typical of the members of this PD.
How do I know that? Because the corpulent wall of silence closed around this crew. Acquiescence is acceptance is support.
You can typically tell how standard behavior is in cases like this by just how nonchalant the cops behave, so I'd agree.
Yeah. Nobody bats an eye. That tells you this isn't the first time.
What a shitty news day. What a terrible nut-punch day.
Fuck this, I am going to look at gun porn. I found a nice Blackhawk in .41mag with a brass frame. Beautiful. I might just have to buy it to make myself feel better.
Find me a nice deal on a 10mm while you're at it.
I wish I could justify buying a new gun to myself. But I can't. Curse this cheap heart of mine!
I can't even justify some new electronics, seeing as I just bought a Nexus 5. I'll just have to blow my money on expensive dinners.
I'll just leave this here...
Online rants, anti-government radicals fuel fear of U.S. cop killings
http://news.yahoo.com/online-r.....12920.html
When did Tulpa start writing for Yahoo?
Oh dear God, they cite the Southern Poverty Law Center. With a straight face.
28 cops were killed across the entire country to date this year. The government doesn't even track how many they shoot.
They get to have lower rules of engagement than soldiers in Afghanistan.
If you were a soldier or marine in Kandahar, you would need positive ID of a shooter (as in, actually see them shooting or aiming it at American forces) in order to fire. Soldiers actually need to use escalation of force, as well, before acting.
We hold our cops to ridiculously low standards to use force.
I'm so sick and tired of hearing about officer safety.
Too late at night/too much beer to find source, but read today that the government's own stats say that a cab driver is 4 times more likely to be a victim of homicide while at work than a LEO. Fucking pussies (cops, not the cabbies)
"Mark Potok, an expert on extremism, said he believes it is rare for social media to inspire someone to kill.
""However, the kinds of people who are prone to those kinds of hatreds find validation and real community on the Internet," said Potok, a senior researcher with the Southern Poverty Law Center."
Yeah, like, there was this one case where a guy used social media to help target an organization where he planned a massacre which was thankfully deterred by a guard...wait, never mind.
Floyd Mayweather to file for bankruptcy.
FTA:
"According to multiple sources, the 37-year-old undefeated champion made over $100 million this year (as of June 2014), but has continued to blow through his funds at an unsustainable rate."
and
"The IRS has reported that Mayweather owes over $50 million dollars in back taxes"
Wow. Just wow.
It takes a special kind of stupid to blow through $100 million dollars. It's harder than you think.
Said no congressman ever
That's blowing through someone else's money. That's different.
That would explain why he was at Pershing Square today promoting his upcoming fight with Maidana.
At this point, he's promoting that fight for the IRS.
And I'm an idiot. Looking at the other headlines on that webpage, it's obviously fake.
Criminal. Scum.
Pigs: "Obviously, the lesson is: don't talk on the fucking dash-cams."
But what about all the stories about the cops who were killed by dogs today, huh? WHAT ABOUT THEM????
If it had been a cat, I'd suspect Hillary Clinton was behind it. If you know what I mean.
OK, maybe someone can clarify - doesn't Animal Control deal with such things? Maybe the cops got there earlier and it was an Emergency that Couldn't Wait?
OK, maybe someone can clarify - doesn't Animal Control deal with such things? Maybe the cops got there earlier and it was an Emergency that Couldn't Wait?
It was 7:30 AM, and the animal control guy didn't come on his shift until 8:00. They were clearly annoyed with that fact in the video. I mean, that call was cutting into their breakfast time!
We could be scarfing donuts and harassing waitresses instead of dealing with this.
Why were they sent in the first place, if Animal Control was coming?
Do they think the animal control guy needs backup?
I mean, what harm if the cops had gone and eaten their donuts and the animal control guy had come in to handle the problem?
The last time one of our animal control officers went in without backup, he almost didn't come home again. I mean, he *did,* but something horrible might have happened!
I would imagine that the complaint went through the sheriff's department first for the noise complaint. That's a law enforcement matter. I don't fault them for sending out cops. I fault them for having cops who are too bothered to do their jobs appropriately.
Shooting your gun on the job should be a rarity; not done on a whim because you are annoyed by dogs. I'm always in awe at how casual it seems for cops like this to draw their weapons on 'civilians' or their pets.
OK, I see how they might have to charge someone with a noise violation, that would be their baliwick.
But there ought to be a way to respect jurisdictional boundaries.
I mean, noise problems can be really annoying, seriously.
Unless the dog is rabid or out of control, I agree. That doesn't seem to be the case here. The cops were calm throughout the incident.
I would also argue that firing a series of shots in a neighborhood at 7:30 in the morning is a lot more disruptive than a barking dog. Hence them shouting at people to get back into their houses after. Not nicely, either, or with any explanation as to what was going on.
Hey, who wants someone to watch them while they work? Not me! If only I could intimidate all the people who think they have a right to watch me do a job I am billing them for...
Ow. My balls.
I'm sure this fine officer will receive some additional training (paid!) on how violently executing pets damages the department's image.
Also, not sure if anyone has posted this turd, which is generating a couple of the more amusing memes I've seen in a while: Derringers and lists.
So in other words, the five most dangerous guns in America are...all of them. Wow, it's impressive when someone thinks being insipid is being clever. It explains a lot about them.
It's so poorly written and blatantly ignorant she could plausibly the pull the "LOL TROLLING" defense, but...nah. Gwynne is ignorant and proud of it. Because guns. And children. And scary. And danger. And feelz.
But contrary to what you defenders of the second amendment think, guns are NOT all created equal.
Oh, crap! Some of that article got in my eyes and I can't get it out. How stupid can a writer be and still get published?
At least that stupid, apparently.
Cop should not have shot the dog bla bla bla.
That said if you live in an apartment or in a dense neighborhood and you own a dog and that barks at everything all the fucking time you should not own a dog.
You are a shitty owner. A dog barking all the time is indication that you are causing endless emotional pain to that animal. Learn to train it, then train it or give it away.
It seems like Grandpa was too confused to bring the dog in and the owner was at work. Indeed, a bad scene, but I don't get the impression they were in the habit of leaving the dog out.
Yep. Fuck up one time == Dead dog.
What the hell.
Now where was that article saying how PDs enforced an intelligence *ceiling* on officer candidates?
It appears that the IQ ceiling is in the high single digit range.
Court OKs Barring Smart People From Becoming Cops (Really)
An oldie but a goodie-

What did he mean by "I don't do snares?" Did he mean that he doesn't like participating in traps to capture wanted felons? Is he similarly inclined to just shoot the object of the snare, rather than risking him turning violent? Seems about par for the course.
Too late at night/too much beer to find source, but read today that the government's own stats say that a cab driver is 4 times more likely to be a victim of homicide while at work than a LEO. Fucking pussies (cops, not the cabbies)
Glad to hear that Detroit officers have so little other cases to handle.
***CORRECTION*** Lexie was a 1 year old Labrador mix, not a pitbull as was erroneously reported by police. This is confirmed by HuffPo, among other news outlers: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/.....14051.html Lexie's owners' lawsuit calls her a "Mixed Breed Dog": http://www.freep.com/assets/fr.....331718.PDF
