Tonight on The Independents: The Gun Show, Starring Cody Wilson, Geraldo Rivera, David Keene, Judge Napolitano, Damon Root, Emily Miller, and Virginia Tech Shooting Survivor Turned Background-Check Advocate Colin Goddard
Tonight on Fox Business Network at 9 pm ET, 6 pm PT (with repeats three hours later), The Independents will produce a special show on the topic of guns. Leading off will be a discussion of mass-shooting events and background checks, featuring Colin Goddard, who describes the awful events at Virginia Tech in 2007, and Reason Senior Editor Damon Root. Next, Washington Times columnist Emily Miller, author of Emily Gets Her Gun: …But Obama Wants to Take Yours, details the arduous process she went through to obtain a handgun in the District of Columbia after suffering a home invasion.
Former National Rifle Association president David Keene talks about the NRA's penchant for blaming shooting events on culture, and deals with a question about marijuana legalization; Kennedy goes shooting with 3-D gun visionary Cody Wilson; NRA member and Fox News personality Geraldo effing Rivera talks about why he's fallen out of love with the gun-rights group, and Fox News Senior Judicial Analyst and Reason.com columnist Andrew Napolitano will advocate—wait for it!!—legalizing the individual ownership of nuclear weapons.
It's a great episode and you should watch it. Follow the @IndependentsFBN on Twitter, use the hashtag #indFBN, and go to the show website for previous-episode video and more.

INDEPENDENTS, WAIT A LITTLE BIT MORE BEFORE ASSEMBLING!
WE ARE ONLY AS STRONG AS OUR WEAKEST LINK
FEAR IS THE MIND-KILLER
We're only as strong as Epi?
Link not sister.
I'm more of a missing link, really.
It only works if you say it in a Groucho voice.
Epi sounds more like Harpo

Epi is a killing word.

Well shit, I totally expect a rational discussion that doesn't heavily involve emotional blackmail.
"Well shit, I totally expect a rational discussion that doesn't heavily involve emotional blackmail."
After what they let the commie get away with?
What did Virginia Tech Shooting Survivor DO to survive? How does the fact that you didn't die in some shooting incident make you an expert on anything at all? In a sense, he won the lottery. It doesn't make him a financial genius.
While we are waiting, here are 40 surprisingly adult jokes from the 90s cartoon Rocco's Modern Life
Chokey Chicken, enough said.
I never watched that one, but always really appreciated Ren and Stimpy
Yeah, Ren and Stimpy really set the bar for what a cartoon could get away with.
The Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen Song
Animaniacs had some pretty filthy ones, too. I love when kids shows are clever enough to be entertaining to an older audience.
Animaniacs was cancelled because more kids than adults were watching it.
Strike that, reverse it?
Animaniacs was renewed because more adults than kids were listening to it?
yes, reverse it.
.it watching were adults than kids more because cancelled was Animaniacs

Sounds like an anti-gun special episode.
And seriously, if it's not culture, what is it, exactly?
County I live in - 200,000 people, huge amounts of guns (it's a rural area) and lots of drugs (meth capital of the country). How many murders a year? 2, maybe.
The metro area of where I live (St. Louis) has 300,000 people, drugs, guns. How many murders a year? 120+
So why so many murders in the city? Liberals blame guns, but my county likely has far more. Drugs? Same thing, my county has more. The only real difference is the culture.
The dunces of DuPont Circle don't want to hear any more of this sort of talk.
Sounds like an awesome show tonight.
I wish I could find it on TV.
Fios channel 617
"Silly Ken, you've had the power to find the show all along... you just need to click your heels three times, and repeat..."
Are you on dial-up?
Cody Wilson =
is awesome.
By contrast, that who burned the cartoon books that people paid him for? =
That guy is a dick.
And Jesse Myerson? =
He's an idiot.
Now, if we can get these three in a room and do a Thunderdome type Deathmatch? =
That would be a profitable Pay Per View event.

Unpossible. I thought Canada was free from the Yankee gun culture?
The proper pejorative is "American Style Gun Culture"
Next it will be Bird Flu.
Yeah, I thought Canada was the Lake Woebegone country....SADZ.
Hahahahahahaha. The story is so fucking beautiful but the comments have enough salty ham tears in them to sustain the entire thread for the rest of the evening.
I guess these dickheads don't understand, or care, how the courts operate. They just expect judges to kiss their ass, never mind that the accused has rights.
You Know Who Else got off easily for causing the death of a police officer?
Judge Dredd?
Literally every Batman villain ever?
So does that make the Joker a libertarian?
He injures/flat out murders an awful lot of people to be considered that.
I especially love the headline. The guy ought to sue P! for slandering him.
Holy fuck. The commenters write like 6th graders.
Pretty sure you can't pass the exams if you're above that learning level.
Ever read a police report? This is about their equivalent to Shakespeare.
Man I hope this judge lives in a vault cause, he doesnt have common sense.
What? Even discounting the grammar and punctuation errors, why a vault?
Yeah, I overlook some things. You misspell a word because you hit the key next to the one you intended? That's just a typo.
You misspell 'is' as 'in'? WTF, its only *two* letters and 'n' is on the other side of the keyboard.
How many of the commentators at Police One are actually cops as opposed to wannabes and trolls?
Apparently they verify every account with the department you work for or retired from before they let you comment. I've never tried to get on there and set up an account, but I'd be willing to bet they're all the real deal.
Wow. That's actually good to know. It means there aren't people on there intentionally trying to make cops look bad.
They're doing it all by themselves.
They do not verify anything before you can post.
Really? They're always saying that on the threads that you have to be verified. And it's in their TOS's.
I figured it was a scan of a badge (ID, reallly)
From their registration page: We confirm the status of all officers registering for PoliceOne by calling that officer's department directly.
I guess I should have known better than to expect an organization of cops to tell the truth about anything.
The officer was GRIEVING THE DEATH OF HIS PARTNER!! Then I find out the partner's a dog.
And yes, officers, it WAS just a dog.
I've noticed that Gillespie thinks the gun grabbers have legitimate concerns unlike the drug warriors. Gee I wonder why that is?
Let's discuss it over cocktails.
Hmm, maybe because people with guns sometimes hurt other people and balancing the right to self-defense against the negatives is a legitimate topic of discussion.
So people who do drugs never hurt other people? Riiiiiight.
Only miracle can save Formula One great Michael Schumacher
FTA: 'Miracles happen, of course, and as a wealthy man he has the best care money can buy. But all the money in the world cannot fix what has happened to him.'
Wait, I thought what made Europe so superior to America was that everybody got the best care over there and we only had it for the 1%. Or the 8%, I can't remember, but their system is more equitable...supposedly.
Sucks about Schumi, though. I think they're getting ready to pull the plug.
QUESTION =
What do The Independents think of Fox running a competing show, "The Cosmos"?
Is a harder-edged Paleo-tarian angle forthcoming? Is Matt going to wear even *more pink* in a silent protest? Inquiring minds want to know.
Only if you are the official fashion correspondent, giving withering commentary on everyone's terrible choices.
What did your folks think of the show the other night Kibby?
I managed to get the message across in time to not bother, so they deleted it from their dvr. Family crisis averted!
Wouldn't a more proper location be at MSNBC?
What do The Independents think of Fox running a competing show, "The Cosmos"?
Fox News hates non-Bible "science" of course.
Be gone, you greasy sack of rotting foreskins!
I thought the Independents WERE cosmos.
Not Kmele!
They also totally destroy their cosmo cred by having a regular guest from Taki's.
Beatdown in a back alley.

Oh Neil, come out and plaaaay
I still think Ginger Rogers was that rare creature the libertarian woman. Let's see she wore a monocle in 42nd Street, supported Barry Goldwater, divorced 5 times, was raised by a single mom and starred in musicals. What can be more libertarian than that?
This is Winston talking about Ginger Rogers today.
I keed!
Why is he beating a horse while holding his penis?
It's symbolic of the 1% of that day's contempt for the working class.
Make that 8%
So should I just use the same Wilfred Brimley quote about retards?
I missed the "starring in musicals" connection to libertarianism, but sure, whatever. Knock yourself out.
Look at how Fred Astaire dressed!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POfWbXStmro
Check out the 'Book of Mormon' - very libertarian and Emmy's (or whatever for Broadway) to boot.
I hear ticket prices have been slashed by 8%.
I missed the "starring in musicals" connection to libertarianism
Does it really need to be said?
I dunno...maybe this
Shit how could I forget this:

I bought another handgun two weeks ago and had to go through a background check.
It was a little Taurus 605 - and it took 15 minutes. I do not feel dirty at all.
They let retards buy guns in georgia?
How progressive of them.

This
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sss51tFfsW4
Since the topic is Guns =
curious from the audience here what the view here is on the two most recent panic-baiting kerfuffles =
1) the as-of-yet unsent CT gun-confiscation-letter thing...
and
2) the media interpretation that "Facebook cracks down on Illegal gun sales!" when all they did was impose a few silly rules that have basically zero effect on anyone (mainly because the sales going on weren't "illegal" in any case), but allow the pressure groups etc. feel like they "got something" for their campaign.
And = bets that either get mentioned this evening?
Danke
Both are fine examples of wingnuttery.
Cool story, bro.
One of the writers at Ars Tehnica got beat down in the comments because the article title was all 'Facebook cracking down on gun-sales'.
Then you read the article and see they're just adding some messages to gun sellers reminding them to check local laws and a disclaimer.
Tucille has been talking a lot about hypothetical CT confiscation.
Matt, Kennedy, and Kmele, Tucille would be a good guest to have on.
Also, it has been repeated here that Obama is going to lock up all white people in FEMA camps this year.
Will they cover that too?
You think derp is your ally? Ha! You merely adopted the derp. I was born into it. Molded by it. I didn't see anything that made sense until I was a man, and by then, it was BLINDING!
Much like the things *you* write here, you shouldn't take the ramblings of American (in whatever guise he's using this week) as representative of this board.
Under what conditions can you buy a gun without a background check? I live in a state with very liberal gun laws, and the only way you can do it here is to buy from a private individual. Many individual sellers here still use a gun dealer to transfer to other individuals simply for the background check. Who wants to sell to someone and have that gun used in a crime and come back to you?
The kinds of sales the background check dummies want to prevent, background check laws won't prevent. The whole background check canard is a ruse to further gun control, plain and simple. It is just like all the other useless shit they advocate; it would not prevent whatever tragedy they are holding up to justify it.
Trying to remember for certain, but didn't the shooter at Virginia Tech buy his guns through a dealer and go through a background check?
Without background check is just, what... Private sales, or a CMP sale that had a background check required for the pre-refs, right? Or maybe they just do it there.
I know they will ship the garand to your door, though.
In PA, immediate family can transfer all weapons without state interference. Rifles can be sold face to face without a background check, but some sellers still use them. Most just ask to see a carry license.
I think in FL and OH you can sell a fellow state citizen a pistol without a check.
Regardless of the need for a background check, it's illegal everywhere to knowingly sell a gun to a felon. People that are already doing shady sales won't be deterred by a background check law.
AZ can do non-commercial sales without going through a FFL and doing a background check.
I think the transfer has to be in person though - no mailing it out.
Sigh. Hoops.
Hoops!

this
We don't even have a national gun database so we can absolutely never use it to confiscate guns later! We don't even have that!
And we'll never use the demographic information collected by the Census to round up citizens of a certain ethnicity and transport them to interment camps!
Again.
Government, can I please protect myself?
Fuck you. It's a "non-starter" because we saw through your bullshit 236 years ago.
Yeah! Fuck the Brits!
(can't actually stream yet)
There are simply too many guns to regulate. Trying doesn't do anything.
Well duh. That's why taking them away from everyone will SUPER TOTES solve the problem!
He's not getting the commie treatment, thank god.
We get it, the Independents don't want to do something.
"There are no illegal gun manufacturing plants"
3D printing says otherwise.
What an idiot.
Does the US government not have illegal gun manufacturing plants? There seems to be an awful lot of evidence pointing the other way on that.
If the US Government is shipping military weapons into Libya (they did), Syria (they are) and Iran (they will), then there are not only illegal gun manufacturing plants in the US, but they're actually being run for the government.*
*Of course, that means we're breaking foreign laws and international law, and if we gave a fuck about that, Obama and Bush would be extradited to Mexico to stand trial for F&F and Wide Receiver.
This is so not a depressing start to my weekend, guy.
Why would you run an illegal plant when its so easy to get legally made guns here?
There may be an armorer here or there who does work for shady people but, unlike other countries, the incentive to go to the black market for *manufacturing* isn't there.
Straw-purchasing/diversion is where its at inside the US.
Wow! He just dropped that mask...

Holy crap, how unsensitive can you get? This guy had a personal experience with unbackgroundchecked gun bullets! He has the high ground. How can you argue against him?

Your argument is invalid!
Anyone willing to make some crack about Dan White killing the wrong/not enough people?
"Background checks are people control."
"people control."
"control."
I love when they finally just admit what they're really after.
I just love it when the guest is actually responsive and our hosts actually challenge them.
OK, once again one is left with the impression that there is some huge loophole out there where one can buy guns without a background check. Simply not true. Dude did not even give an example of what a good background check system would look like to him.
I am calling bullshit on you Colin.
But, Suthen....don't you get it?
Anything is better than what's going on now!
What's the deal with the so-called 'gun show loophole'? They really like to harp on that.
The loophole is that people can meet at gunshows and then leave the property and make a sale from one private individual to another private individual without involving a gun dealer or anyone else at the show.
In other words, there is no loophole. More mendacity from people who want you to be helpless.
Sig Sauer? Boooooo. Buy American.

Ten Arguments Gun Advocates Make, and Why They're Wrong
You need to remove "Smart" from your screen name, because you're a fucking idiot.
Each of those points is easily refutable and are based on emotion rather than empirical evidence and/or individual liberty.
Go fuck yourself.
Why did I click that? I am now dumber than I was before.
Emily is statist on some other issue, if I recall. I can't remember what.
Drugs are bad, mmmkay?
Oh, was that it?
Yeah, I recall she was on one of the earlier shows and she took a prohibitionist stance on marijuana.
The irony was apparently lost on her.
Yes, I recall that now.
Any punches yet?
Emily's personal story can't possibly trump Colin's.
Kennedy is wearing old lady lipstick.
Kennedy has a right to bare arms, but I don't suggest it.
Don't talk shit about Kennedy.
Granted, I haven't turned it on yet, getting the ginlettes to bed.
Move to Louisiana Emily. I will donate a gun to you. We will do it through my local gun store, so there will be a background check, but I will gladly pay the 20 dollar fee. I have a very nice little pistol for you.
I have a very nice little pistol for you.

So who will he have labeled a non-planet person?
Neil kept some of us alive... Mostly to feed bodies into the furnaces.

"Teachers, crazies, and felons."
A perfectly logical set.
Can't a minor buy a gun on their own in New Hampshire?
I've heard that, but I wasn't willing to test that out by having my 7-year-old daughter, clutching a couple hundred bucks, walk up by herself to the counter at the Shooter's Outpost and ask for a Mossburg.
Getting her arrested for a straw purchase would be considered bad parenting.
The shovels & flashlight helmets make it difficult, I think.
Did you hear about the driver who got arrested for taking the West Virginia coal miner to a dolphin sex show in Florida?
He was charged with transporting a miner over state line for immoral porpoises.

Yeah, take them out hunting... THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME.

Why do Friday night shows always feel twelve hours long? Or is this just a personal problem?
You're incorrectly self medicating on Fridays, it would seem.
You're too drunk. Or not drunk enough.
Both of you are correct, no gin tonight. Have to work on my cover letter after the show & submit some applications.
But why no gin?
I am Kmele-like in my ability to function after drinking.
You giggle uncontrollably on camera?
I do that a lot anyways. A camera or alcohol probably wouldn't affect that too much.
Remember cover letter and resume are *just* to get the interview. Just enough to make them want to talk to you.
No need to put everything in either. Good luck. And don't work so hard on Friday.
Work so hard? I've done naught but watch terrible tv all day!
Kennedy uses her printed gun to force a mustache ride out of Geraldo, next on The Independents.
Do they always do the singing and dancing between segments?
If you subscribe in Bitcoin to the Independents Monocle Club you get to see Kmele and Matt dance the French Mistake during commercial breaks.
Oh yeah, I wanted to mention this.
I still love you Kennedy, but you deserve a spankin' for that electric car nonsense.
Independents Attire Review, 7 March 2014*
(*We're Euro-Dating from here on out)
- Kennedy = This is the dawning of the age of... LSD flashbacks to a PJ O'Rourke segment? How do we feel about all of this bare flesh after months of full-body drapery? Are we thinking too hard about how much iron is in Kennedy's diet? Does it seem like she should have a thought-bubble over her head saying, "Calgon, Take Me Away?" Clothes ? Clothes are simply a temporary inconvenience here. Somewhere, a very scary man can tell what skin cream she uses.
- Matt = The saltpeter to Kennedy's Spanish-fly, Matt brings his "Hip-Undertaker" ensemble, providing a helpful stylistic foil to Kennedy's hacky-sack-inspiring aura. We'd complain, but at least there's no pink. We look forward to his later asking, "Do you know they call a quarter pounder with cheese in France"

You're thinking way to much about this...then again I'm not watching.

And he is, by law, allowed to carry even in gun-free zones because he is a former cop. But they neglect to say that every time they bring that nutball up.
BTW, the P1 stories on that all but say the other guy had it coming for being a smartass to the retired cop.

Kmele, get up. Punch Geraldo in the mouth then drag him off.
Bring on the Judge.
Just got back from the beach. What did I miss?
Somebody' kid helicopter-pissed all over the set.
Funny, that happened at the beach too.

Nekkid, like on her book.
Geraldo didn't even have a fucking point.
He didn't have a point, he had a goal: Get on TV.
The Judge, going for the penis joke.
I love when the Judge is on -- the segment always ends with me knowing far more than when it started.
Yep. I love that guy.
The Geraldo Addendum
- by Robert Ludlum Jr.
Laws are not being broken, but principles are being questioned =
1 - *Stripes On Stripes*
Is this some hard-and-fast law being broken? No. Is the overlap of the *same* kind of broad white-on-blue stripes for tie and shirt *advisable*? No. if he had a striped suit, would it be a crime? Yes. Does it work even slightly? Meh.
Like the word, "Schmucky", it really means nothing, and just kind of makes you want the guy to go away.
2 - Blue (tie) on blue (shirt) on blue (jacket)
Rule? no. Advisable? Can do. depends on the mix - such as a navy suit, sky shirt, and royal tie. However, overlapping neutral shades of blue create a dull-tint sensation without any contrast. Combined with his wintery skin and greyed beard, Geraldo looks like he's had a makeover from an Ice Troll. Fail.
Overall = C
For a man in television most of his life, we expect more. For shame, Geraldo, For Shame.
How much time do you spend putting these things together? I feel like we should give you some sort of H&R award or something.
Which would be, of course, an unspeakably horrifying thing to have.
The show begins and I type in a blind fury while skipping between browser windows. Occasionally I stop to swallow a glassful of warm whiskey and curse at my cat who insists on stepping on the keyboard. It is wonderful exercise for both speed-typing as well as sentence-construction under pressure OH JESUS DOBBS!!
You're doing the lord's work, and I salute you. And if I could send you digital ice for your whiskey, I would.
DRINKING TOO FAST NO TIME FOR ICE, MAN!
ME TOO!
Solution to the cat problem: share the whiskey.
Yes, because when private citizens could own warships, they all turned to piracy, Kennedy.
Yes, because when private citizens could own warships, they all turned to piracy, Kennedy.
Yes, because when private citizens could own warships, they all turned to piracy, Kennedy.
It warranted repeating.
stutterererer.
The line between piracy and privateering was always pretty blurred.
It was only blurred from the point of view of a foreign nation. If early 19th century me bought a sloop and fitted with with 5 to 7 cannons, and then I received a letter of marque from the government, how am I different from the CEO of Blackwater?
You'd have a letter for Marque
Heh. Damn true.
Although at any time the government could fuck you over by revoking it.
William Kidd found out the hard way.
IIRC, 8% of them turned to piracy.
Why was Jefferson writing on the constitution? That guy just couldn't let anyone else have any glory.
probably just chicks phone #'s on the edge of it.
"That's the same number I have on my luggage!"
Oh Judge, did you really have to say people should be allowed to have tanks in their garage? Well, there's some more ammo for Maddow.
Only because Maddow is an intellectually dishonest shrew. If you could afford to buy a tank, would you fuck up your obviously successful life by going on a tank-dozer rampage?
eventually? But it would be at like 1 in the morning after a night of independents and gin.
Dozer Rampage
Zealots would. Islamofags and Christfags for instance.
ZAAMMM!! BEEN a WHILE since I pulled those two insults off!
Yawn
And they already do. Hamas has no problem getting military grade hardware even with the Israeli blockade in effect.
Whenever I debate pro gun control folks and they bring up nukes and tanks, I retort by asking them if people should be allowed to own catapults and battering rams.
This occasionally succeeds in getting them to understand how retarded such arguments are.
Didn't 20 years ago some soldier in San Diego go bonkers and tear ass around the city in a stolen tank?
If that happens extremely rarely the odds of a person wealthy enough to afford it doing the same are pretty remote.
instant 6-star wanted level.
Finally the Judge brings some clarity.
I would've tried 1 2 3 4 first
The Judge is rocking Foster's world.
Finally,
We're waiting...
When he says final, he means it.
Glad I wasn't holding my breath for it.
Ha! It was supposed to correct my post above where I said "Finally the judge brings some clarity."
Y'all can exhale now.
Pshaw, you expect us to read upthread? You demand too much for such meager wages, sir!
You don't have your orphans keeping you updated? You are too soft on them.
So, am I really watching this?
* Citizens should be able to have tanks in their garages. 2nd.
* Should government be afraid of it's people? Yes!
* What about nukes? Sure, why not?
* Government is not to be trusted with more powers than citizens have.
* Government gets it's powers from me.
*shit* that just went out on national tv to an audience of 10s of thousands. Awesome.
(I sound sarcastic, but that's all praise)
Seriously, @JudgeNap just advocated on the @IndependentsFBN that the 2nd Amendment should give us the right to bear nuclear arms! #winning
Plus, associated drama from cosmos!
What about nukes? Sure, why not?
Because it is incredibly dangerous? Maybe owning a nuke in the middle of nowhere and registered with the government but in a neighbourhood or city? No way.
And yes, it is awesome that we are infiltrating the culture. Libertarian moment!
The Judge made a good point. Who do you trust more, Matt Welch or the government.
I've worked for the government. I choose Matt.
Oh, BTW. We can advocate for ownership of nukes and accept a compromise of all firearms (and sound pissed about it), or we can advocate for drawing the line at automatic weapons and compromise down to semi-automatic weapons that aren't black.
I, for one, applaud The Judge for expanding the narrative.
Expanding the narrative works when supported by reason. 'The government is worse than Welch' doesn't really work. There are people who are worse than either. Please don't make me become New Tulpa.
A. There are people, who could afford a nuke, that you trust less than the government?
B. Yes, you certainly don't see the progs advocating ridiculous positions in the other direction in order to whittle us down.
The Judge, at least, has a principled argument, although perhaps not practical, in that our government governs by consent of the governed. How can the government have weapons that the citizenry can't? Let the left justify their position rather than us ours.
Luckily I keep my nuke in my motorcycle sidecar. Of course it's attached to a heart monitor.
And yet both private and public sector medical labs located in the downtowns of many major metropolises have far more deadly (in terms of the amount of possible people killed) bacteria and viruses in their possession.
Like what? Anthrax? Not contagious person-to-person. N. francessilum? Only deadly by pulmonary infection and I'm pretty sure not contagious. There's not much antibiotics won't cure. Maybe a flu strain but r=eh
"What about nukes? Sure, why not?"
The question would be "allow". Once somebody had a nuclear weapon, who's gonna take it away?
Why do things like nukes and tanks show up in gun control debates?
Oh that's right- because the banners know their arguments are preposterous.
Pew. Pew pew pew!
Kmele, your mic doesn't like its placement tonight. Sweaters may not be for you.
AH! Lou Dobbs.
AHH LOU DOBBS!
Gah!!!!
March 8 is INTERNATIONAL WOMYNS DAY
There's going to be a picture of Cary Nation there, isn't there?
I made the mistake of clicking on the live feed and hearing a re-run of Kennedy's dumbass oil-comments.
I was reminded of how good Kmele looked that night, which simply serves to deepen my disappointment in the Sweater Mistake.
Drink more whiskey, it will ease the pain.
Better change the channel before I leave so my dog isn't forced to listen to Lou Dobbs.
Dear Abby,
I don't understand how or why, but my dog now has an eagle holding a swastica on his collar.
Roger Moore was a better Bond than Sean Connery.
That is all.
Your taste in pizza and mayonaise sucks.
That is all.
Hey, I make my own mayonnaise.
That's a dumb thing to say.
Does liking Daniel Craig in the role (immensely) make me not welcome here anymore?
You're ok with me. I think Craig was a great Bond. He really updated the role and took it back to its roots at the same time.
Sloopy is correct on this.
That is one of the wrongest sentences in the English language.
Aside from Goldfinger and Thunderball, Connery didn't make a movie that wouldn't have been better with Moore.
Moore was in too many bond movies. Early, good. Later. live and let die moonraker.
Dalton could have carried a few more.
Dalton? That dorky, jug-eared clown set Bond back 20 years.
Oh, sorry, let's ask Jaws how much Moonraker set bond back?
Oooh, I know a restaurant in meth-country-michigan called Moonraker!
meth-country-michigan
You'll have to be more specific.
Fair enough. I-94 corridor. East of Battle Creak.
Oh, sorry, let's ask Jaws how much Moonraker set bond back?
Oooh, I know a restaurant in meth-country-michigan called Moonraker!
And FWIW, Moonraker was a fine film. A perfect amount of slapstick mixed with a laser gun battle in space.
And FWIW, Moonraker was a fine film.
This is wrongest thing I have ever read.
may your body be set on fire and torn to pieces by starving crocodiles
This diminishes my respect for you.
*hangs head*
Come on, guys. "Dr. No"? Boring.
"From Russia With Love"? Boooooooring.
I'll give you "You Only Live Twice". That was a pretty good one I just forgot. But I'll still take "Moonraker" and "For Your Eyes Only" before it.
Moonraker? Moonraker?!?
Brits jumping in slow motion to simulate zero gravity?
Let's have a giant long scene to show the ugly girl with braces fall in love with jaws, before thye plummet back to earth and burn up.
Great fucking movie.
Best part of "Live and Let die" was the Paul McCartney song.... and the shark scene.
It was a great movie. And who are you to deny Jaws finding his soulmate in Rio?
Moonraker? Moonraker?!?
Brits jumping in slow motion to simulate zero gravity?

The plot is not the actor. You didn't argue that your favorite movies had better PLOTS, but the better BOND. Which is patently false. A good actor can make a movie better than it's plot would ordinarily warrant.
I also said I was just fucking with everybody.
Fuck you. You can't just throw an artisanal mayo bomb over the wall like that and expect the east coast shift to pick it up. WTF?
Jeez. Tough crowd.
Well I only saw that after I posted my comment.
This is the final word on this question =
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v.....Y#t=00m20s
Connery, Craig, Brosnan, Lazenby, Moore, Dalton.
That is all.
I...uh...really? We're putting Pierce third here? Goldeneye was outstanding, but the rest of his run is pretty much unwatchable.
Sorry kibby, but... what?!? Looking back, Goldeneye was terrible, Nintendo-whatever game excluded.
On the plus side.... I AM INVINCIBLE!
I may have watched it at a turning point in my life & remember it more fondly than it deserves.
Counterpoint: Famke Janssen chokes a dude with her perfect legs.
This is very relevant.
Warning: some of their rankings are way the fuck off.
I think the difficulty here is separating the Bonds from the *script*.
Brosnan did a good Bond - the movies sucked because of the scripts.
For me its
Craig
Connery
Dalton
Brosnan
Lazenby/Moore
Connery get 2nd place because his run is very uneven. Some of it he's great in, some of it he's phoning home.
Craig's problem is that after his first Bond (and the opening of his second movie) the series takes a huge downturn and the third is only mediocre at best. Too many plot-holes/convenient coincidences for the villain and hero. Too much clich? macho.
I was just about to bitch about how all the recent bond movies (last few? Was it all Brosnan?) deal with an orbital weapons platform.
We are talking best Bond, not best movies. Moore only made one good Bond movie. With two being okay and the others god awful.
Bond is about striking a balance between caviar eating playboy and brute thug that can kick your ass.
Moore was a fop who's best weapon was a quip rather than his fists. Connery, Brosnan, and Craig look like guys that could kill you with their bare hands.
Pierce Brosnan is the least frightening man on the planet to me. The other two could inflict some serious bodily harm without any weaponry, I'll agree on that.
37 ways to kill a man woman with a drinking straw.
38 if you leave the paper on.
Brosnan?.... -1
Are you fucking serious? I don't know anybody that would even think of putting Moore below 3rd behind Connery and Craig.
And furthermore, Moore played a 70's and 80's Bond in the 70's and 80's. Connery was stuck in the 50's while playing Bond in the 60's when culture had long since passed his character by.
Moore personified his generation as Bond. Connery was a relic of a bygone age.
And Dalton just sucked.
Blah Blah Blah.
Connery is a man's man. Moore...a bit light on his feet.
Which makes him a better Bond. He seduced those women because it was his duty. Connery's Bond was a serial rapist.
Actually, Moore seducing women was the most unbelievable element in his movies. I always expected him to flee pussy island and try and go down on Khamal Khan.
Ok, I guess that doesn't disqualify him from being a british spy.....
Never mind.
Sorry, I was picturing whore island
Haha. Awesome.
I was just kidding, guys. Connery was obviously better. Moore was adequate for his generation of flash and development of high-tech gadgetry. But Connery got by on his wits and suaveness.
May your burning, half-eaten-by-crocodiles-body be set upon by a swarm of wasps that sting with a venom that burns long beyond the actual moment of death, and make your dismembered corpse spread a foul stench for so many miles that property values in the area decline for a half-century
GMSM You have exquisite taste.
That is all.
Moore understood the element of Bond being over-the-top super spy silliness sometimes. Connery played it straight.
Except that's not true - Bond didn't start out as over the top (the first couple of movies are brutal in places), that crept in. Its true that Moore ran with it, but that stuff barely carried the series. Its why Brosnan's stint was so short and Craig's movie so well-received - no-one wanted to see the silliness anymore.
The silliness was never good. Ever.
'Slapstick' is latin for 'shitty'.

You know what gets me? If you included prisoners, men are most likely raped and sexually assaulted at several times the rate of women.
Prison is the only place where the term Rape Culture has any meaning.
Well, and India, nowadays.
Well, and India, nowadays.
Yes, "Thank you, come again" has taken on a whole new meaning there lately.
OK, I may have gone too far with that one.
Then she is blaming me because I'm positive that I'm better than her.
Not just sure, but HIV Positive?

Ariel Luckey invites his audiences to reflect on the dynamics of power and privilege in their personal lives and communities.

I'm going to reflect on the waste in government that would fund this garbage.
Ladies...The Batman collection from Black Milk is out.
Cool! Do they make clothes for girls who don't look like eleven year-old boys?
I wouldn't know. As my wife suffers from LLTOGUM (Looks Like Twelve Year Old Girl Until Menopause) Syndrome, I don't have much experience in shopping for other types.
Do they carry 14x? Because that's who will mostly buy that stuff.
From what I see, now that comic characters (not so much the books themselves) are popular far outside of the typical nerdy circle, a lot of unexpected people, girls included, are wearing this kind of stuff.
Which is absolutely awesome & likely the only way women will start seeing a significant amount of comic merchandise marketed towards them. We are a sadly neglected market in that area of pop culture.
Comics were cooler when they weren't.
I guess it was only a matter of time until I met a comic hipster.
True. But I'm still really enjoying DC's "Forever Evil" arc.
They're reprinting Alan Moore's Miracle Man. A must fucking read.

Its a form of collective channeling similar to Pentecostal 'speaking in tongues' or Baptist faith-healing / sin-confession. Its all about having an exaggerated emotional purge that the audience can then award with nurturing approval.
Could not have said better myself.
