Why the phone? To order pizza? Certainly not to gain anyone else's opinion.

It's actually phony scandals and pen register.

Chip Bok must not be very confident in his artistic ability if he has to label the phone and the pen.

    1. invisible furry hand   11 years ago

It's a homage to this. He wasn't intending to draw a phone or a pen, alas

Hey, the new Chrome lets me open link in new tab. Yay.

    2. Roger the Shrubber   11 years ago

He labeled himself, also. I always wondered what he looked like.

    3. Sunmonocle Backwards Tophat   11 years ago

Without the moar labelz I would have been 70% for it being a phone and 30% for it being an ergonomical, "wear-on" steam iron. Also, shrewd attention to detail in making Obama left-handed, which is yet another reason I don't trust him.

  8. SweatingGin   11 years ago

I'd like to explore the nature of the Obamahead. Are three parts co-equal, or is the holy spirit phone a lesser part, not expressed always?

This is an important question, it could lead to a schism between the East Coast Orthodox Obamaites and the Western Obamaites.

    1. Hillary's Clitdong   11 years ago

I'm more concerned by the burning question of whether Obama is composed of divine matter of pure Progress or whether he is earthly matter assembled by pure Progress.

      1. JWatts   11 years ago

Obama is actually the Holy Trinity of Progressivism, representing the divine Progressive Eco-Utopia, the earthly Progressive Benevolent State and the gospel of Progressive Community Organization.

  9. Slammer   11 years ago

Why are Obama's eyes closed? Is he trying to say this is what he'd look like dead? OMGZ!!!

  10. anon   11 years ago

This one -almost- has enough lables.

    1. Smilin' Joe Fission   11 years ago

When having 3 or less labels it outlawed, only outlaws will have 3 or less labels.

      1. Doctor Whom   11 years ago

Nobody needs fewer than three labels.

        1. JWatts   11 years ago

Why do you care about the mandatory labeling if you don't have anything to hide?

  11. Smilin' Joe Fission   11 years ago

        Have fun all.

    3. Hillary's Clitdong   11 years ago

Last night, I forgot that Talisker and Ardbeg are not appropriate post-workout drinks. That plus the bulking shake and the mozzarella cheese sticks has resulted in a morning of birthing the children of Nurgle into the office toilet.

  12. Smilin' Joe Fission   11 years ago

Black Bush. Dave Chappelle cracks me up.

  13. Alice Bowie   11 years ago

Well. That's what it comes to.

So let the president execute his Executive Orders.

If you all don't like it, perhaps you can vote for the next Callous asshole that will take away the safety nets, deport everyone, and simply undue Obama's Executive Orders.

    Good Luck with that.
Look at the following List. Isn't it amazing that ALL these people voted against Obama and he still won Significantly?

Simply put, the callous and asshole-ish policies of the Right don't work when most people in this country are not secure with their job/career/future. So please you CATO guys and Republicans, continue your policies. And continue to market them. It's the best thing you can do for a Progressive.

    - 70% of White Men over 35
    - 52% of Married White Women over 35
    - I would say probably 90% of the Jesus Freaks and other religious a-holes.
    - I would say the majority of Libertarians (at least right-leaning)
    - The "Job Creators"
    - The KKK and other Racist Whites
    - Almost 60% of people that make between $125k thru $600k
    - The Republicans (90%, this is a guess)
    - A significant # of independents that I don't know
    - The Anti-Gay
    - The Pro-War
    - The Red States

    1. Hillary's Clitdong   11 years ago

So let the president execute his Executive Orders.

And he's very limited in what he can do with those. Thank goodness.

      1. Alice Bowie   11 years ago

Their coming. And, he can also ask justice Department to enforce or not enforce.

        1. Hillary's Clitdong   11 years ago

And if they go beyond what he has the authority to do, they aren't anything more than scribbles on paper.

        2. Doctor Whom   11 years ago

So you really do think of him as an absolute monarch.

          1. Alice Bowie   11 years ago

Luckily, our political system was designed by people that foresaw this problem of people wanting to not participate in negotiations.

            1. kbolino   11 years ago

Who is not participating? I don't see John Boehner lobbing any bombs at Federal forts. Not getting what you want is not the same thing as not negotiating.

              1. JWatts   11 years ago

Not agreeing with the Left is tantamount to civil disobedience. Duh.

And if you don't vote for the Left wing candidate, you are racist, homophobic, misogynist and hate poor people. And probably a red neck who smells.

        3. Sunmonocle Backwards Tophat   11 years ago

So he can end the Drug War by rescheduling drugs? And if he doesn't, then he supports it? Is that what you're telling me?

          1. Alice Bowie   11 years ago

He can stop enforcement. He can't change the schedule...at least to my understanding.

            1. kbolino   11 years ago

Your understanding is incorrect. The Attorney General, an appointee of and subordinate to the President, can change the schedule.

    2. Jeff   11 years ago

The butthurt is strong with this one.

    3. Doctor Whom   11 years ago

If you all don't like it, perhaps you can vote for the next Callous asshole that will take away the safety nets, deport everyone, and simply undue [sic] Obama's Executive Orders.

The way the Obamessiah undid the Bush legacy? The delusion is strong with this one.

    4. PRX   11 years ago

how many divisions does a president acting unconstitutionally have?

    5. JPyrate   11 years ago

      The Neo-Conservatives went that way.

      1. JPyrate   11 years ago
        1. Francisco d Anconia   11 years ago

          Well said.

  14. Ronny Paulino   11 years ago

Chip Bok's best cartoon ever? Well done. I hope the crucifix pose is intentional.

  15. What's that smell?   11 years ago

    Alice Bowie-

The point here is that your Messiah is only a man and as an elected official he is bound by and has sworn to up hold the Constitution.

(It's like this paper thingy written along time ago by these icky white guys.. I know how gay. But it's also like the Law or something).

If you were to actually visit/read this site's articles and comments you would know that most are fiscally conservative while being socially progressive. I know that this is incomprehensible to the Leftist mind but it is possible for some to hold two thoughts.

If you were capable of thought and insight you would see your much more nefarious subtle racism. That is your inability to critically assess the Pres. actions. Rather than accept that it is unconstitutional for Obama (or any Pres.) to unilaterally make or change law you accept it because he is black and in your twisted little mind he is incapable of doing things correctly or legally.

No he is to you an African Stag running wild across the savanna. Unable to be caged in by rules, laws, and proper procedures.

Some folks would rather the Pres. of any make-up obey the law and respect personal liberty. If you could step back from The Alter of Obama and cease you prayers to be sprayed in the face with HIS warm salvation, for one minute, you would see your idol has done neither.

And for laughable voter stats...100% of the dead vote went to Obama...thanks to Axelrod and Emmanuel

    1. Alice Bowie   11 years ago

      I'm a regular here.

For the record, I voted for Obama in 2008 and voted for Gary Johnson in 2012. I'm actually a Progressive that is completely not happy with Obama.

We (Progressives) all know what a social liberal and a fiscal conservative is.

The point I'm making is that Libertarian/Conservative policies work real well when people have job opportunities and view their future in a positive manner.

Many people are working in jobs where they are paying less and less, jobs are being lost, and are going no where.

Many people coming out of college need two jobs.

Good luck telling these people that your plan to solve their problem is by taking away all of the 20th century safety nets.

And as I mentioned, Please Please Please, keep advertising your position. It only helps the Progressive Cause.

      1. Ronny Paulino   11 years ago

Do you think that most people here are (to use your examples above):

        - pro-war
        - anti-gay
        - the KKK and other racist whites
        - trying to deport everyone

        1. Alice Bowie   11 years ago

          Absolutely NOT!!!

My libertarian friends and I agree that these things are bad.

I just included them in the list of people that are voting against Obama.

          1. JWatts   11 years ago

You were attempting a rather crude and stupid version of Guilt by Association.

      2. All-Seeing Monocle   11 years ago

Somehow, a lot of those working people don't seem all that impressed with their newest safety net.

      3. Griff Tannen   11 years ago

"Many people are working in jobs where they are paying less and less, jobs are being lost, and are going no where."

Yeah, your right. The exponential growth of government over the last five years did not magically fix the economy and create enough jobs.

Maybe millions of individual transactions in the market place can allocate scarce resources more efficiently (and I would argue more fairly) than centralized government planning.

        1. Francisco d Anconia   11 years ago

To be fair, I think you'd have to say the exponential growth of government over the last 13 years.

          1. Griff Tannen   11 years ago

            Agreed.

      4. mad.casual   11 years ago

And as I mentioned, Please Please Please, keep advertising your position. It only helps the Progressive Cause.

As much as a person committing seppuku can be helped.

      5. kbolino   11 years ago

Many people are working in jobs where they are paying less and less, jobs are being lost, and are going no where.

And how do you propose to fix this? You can keep hiking taxes on rich people, but pretty soon they will stop being rich or stop being here.

        Then what?

You will either have bankruptcy or you will have to force people to work.

But not all labor is worthwhile, and not all people are willing to work equally hard for the same pay.

These lessons have all been learned before, but your kind keep insisting on repeating this folly.

Uniformed fools call capitalism "voodoo economics" because it makes no promises. But the only promise socialism makes is that everybody will end up equally poor in the end. How is that better?

        1. Alice Bowie   11 years ago

Uniformed fools call capitalism "voodoo economics" because it makes no promises. But the only promise socialism makes is that everybody will end up equally poor in the end. How is that better?

To the people that are poor, it would not make a difference. ANd, to the people that are not connected, born rich, have appointed government jobs, or a creative innovators like Steve Jobs, and to the people that are simple not strong negotiators or are generally honest, well yes, it is voodoo economics.

      6. kbolino   11 years ago

Good luck telling these people that your plan to solve their problem is by taking away all of the 20th century safety nets.

Those "safety nets" are going away all by themselves. Nature is a harsh mistress, but she is nothing if not consistent.

Why is Europe mostly prosperous while Africa is mostly impoverished? Their countries have similar economic policies. The reason is simple: redistribution of wealth only "works" if there is wealth in the first place.

But we are at an unstable equilibrium point. The disappearance of jobs is the canary in the coal mine. The burden of the social safety net is starting to outweigh the productive output of the economy.

Safety is a luxury, one which has been afforded on the backs of productive working people and wealthy investors. The natural state of mankind is poverty, and all signs point to a return to that state.

        1. Alice Bowie   11 years ago

It doesn't have to be. And, as Bill Gates stated last week, we can eliminate EXTREME poverty.

In the USA, much to most of you people's discontent, we did eliminate extreme poverty.

          1. JWatts   11 years ago

"In the USA, much to most of you people's discontent, we did eliminate extreme poverty"

We've eliminated even mild forms of poverty at this point. The poorest in the US after accounting for transfer payments are well above the poverty line.

        2. John Galt   11 years ago

That's why a return to a royal form of rule at this point is so alarming. We've been headed that direction for many years, for Obama to just as a matter of factually dictating that his will shall be done really pulls out what little of any stops or restrains that were remaining upon elites of the political classes.

      7. What's that smell?   11 years ago

Where is there any mention of the removal of safety nets?
The point is the expansion of executive power and the creation of the Imperial President by way of executive order

  16. John Galt   11 years ago

A Bok masterpiece. Too bad the subject matter is so serious it's difficult to laugh.
