Watch Rand Paul's State of the Union Response Here
Under 10 minutes

Rand Paul, who delivered the "Tea Party" response to last year's State of the Union, responded to this year's address for himself, in libertarian fashion.

Stossel is like post-SOTU mouthwash.
Not bad but it should've been half the length.
That's what she said
Hey Rand, I've got an idea. I want America to be an economic freedom zone. Why you picking winners and losers?
I said it in a bitcoin thread on Monday -- startup panel at the bitcoin conference had companies from:
2) british virgin islands
1) Honduras
1) Singapore
1) California
The California one was a *massive* exception.
New York just held hearings on it today, and if I can find a link to particular parts of them, I'll post it. Gist of it from the regulators was: "I'd crack down on Money laundering, even if it chokes innovation".
Let me see if I understand this. People are trading goods, and not using money. And the federal government is shitting itself. That about right?
Oh they're using money. Just not dollars.

What's with these low-tax freedom zonea? If they're coextensive with the country, well and good. If they're scattered patches of territory, how do you decide which parts get to be free?
If I can move to a freedom zone, sign me up.
is that anything like the...
DANGER ZONE!!

You didn't build that highway to the danja zone.
Can wherever I go be a freedom zone? Like, me as an individual and everything I do?
7 billion governments?!? what are you, insane?!? WHAT ABOUT ROADZ!?!?
If only we could get the hovercraft conversions going.. We could finally build libertopia.
Detroit
Somebody needs to get to him and fix his hand gesture. He has only one, and it looks a little like he's seizing.
Looked like a Disney animatronic that stripped a gear.
Arms start up..... arms start up..... arms start up....
I sure hope he gets to be a Disney animatronic someday. Hall of Presidents, yo.
Noticed that to. At least give the maestro a baton.
I could vote for this guy. I doubt I'll get a chance to.
Bitch, I voted for Gary Johnson.
God that never gets old.
I posted that on Facebook yesterday! Along with this pic. I'm getting thumbs up right and left.
I'm in KY, I'll get a chance to.
I'll also get to vote against Bitch McConnell
I liked it!
Reagan, blah, blah, blah, Milton Friedman, blah, blah, blah, blah, Reagan, blah, blah, blah...
Rand does know how to talk to the Republican base. Name drop.
Well, it is really the best way for libertarians to make a point to Republicans. Their rhetoric is quite often libertarian leaning. Getting them to match their words isn't a bad strategy.
Mythical libertarian purity makes it impossible for more people to become libertarians. Reagan? Not a perfect libertarian for many, but he did speak in real ways about personal freedom and the power of the people.
Milton Friedman? You won't find anyone who publicly and articulately voice free markets, except perhaps his wife Rose.
Libertarians are the up and coming political movement ... and always will be.
Nobody's a "perfect" libertarian. It's an ideology that revolves around individualism, so, naturally, every single libertarian is libertarian in his or her own way.
Sounds good, wwhorton, but in reality it means everyone is critic to the point where the Libertarian party never reaches a critic mass of support.
If you don't like Obama, no matter what he does will be wrong. Even if a voice came out of heaven while the dome lifted off the Capitol Building, a light shone down, with angels circling around, and God endorsed him, anything Obama said would still be wrong for all those who don't like him, and never will, no matter what he does.
If God endorsed Obama he'd disprove his own infallibility.
I take it you don't like Obama. Fine. So who would you like to see take the oath of office come January 2017? Rand Paul? Some other career, habitual, hack politician? Not much to choose from is there?
You're doing religion wrong.
God doesn't endorse things because they are good, things are good because God endorses them.
Rand makes reference to god then talks about "reality" This is the problem in America. People pick and choose what reality is based on what THEY want out of it and not for what it really is. I'll vote Libertarian always but the fact of the matter is, church and state should be always separate and respected. What politician in their right mind would alienate the rest of his voters by using his religion in his video responses or posts? Atheists don't have the same rights as everyone else in this country anymore?
You are stupefying close minded. Many people do hold that belief in a deity is reality. You as a libertarian voter should know our constitution provides protection from a state (i.e. federal) mandated religion. As a result it does not prohibit freedom of religion belief, even if that is no belief at all. Before playing the atheist victim card, look around at the wrongful persecution of public school children. Happens all the time.
To another point of what person would alienate the rest of his voters ... You are now asking politicians to be in the closet regarding their religious views? Again very closed minded of you. Further, how many successful (i.e. win elections) are self described atheists. Not many.
