Obamacare's Spanish Language Website Is Full of Garbled Translations

Like much of the rollout of Obamacare's federal exchange system, the launch of the Spanish-language version of the site hasn't gone so well.
It was delayed on multiple occasions, and eventually went live in "soft-launch" mode two months after the originally scheduled October start-up date.
It's still not ready for prime time. We're now the middle of January, and apparently the site is still full of garbled translations and bad information, according to the Associated Press:
The site, CuidadoDeSalud.gov, launched more than two months late.
A Web page with Spanish instructions linked users to an English form.
And the translations were so clunky and full of grammatical mistakes that critics say they must have been computer-generated — the name of the site itself can literally be read "for the caution of health."
"When you get into the details of the plans, it's not all written in Spanish. It's written in Spanglish, so we end up having to translate it for them," said Adrian Madriz, a health care navigator who helps with enrollment in Miami.
In other words, work on the Spanish-language site, as on the rest of it, was late and remains sloppy. And that's despite the fact that Spanish-speakers, many of whom are young, healthy, and uninsured, are one of the administration's target demographics for health insurance sign-ups under the law.

Que?
I don't speak English.
Or Spanish.
I might speak a bastardized dialect of English thought (which ironically gets more compatable the more technical you go, while everyday phrases are less so).
That is racism, straight up. Why does Obama hate Mexicans and want them to go without insurance?
Oh, he doesn't hate Mexicans, just people who primarily speak Spanish.
So Guatemalans, Hondurans, Chileans, Peruvian, etc.
Keep in mind: the people making this criticism are very, very unlikely not to be hardcore OCare supporters.
Just sayin'. And for the multi-culti administration to botch something this badly, in a way that would get the Civil Rights Division to wade in with both jackboots if it was a private company, is just, well, typical, I guess.
Just wait until the Magic Latina is the deciding vote at SCOTUS striking down the birth control mandate. The progs won't be able to help themselves and will get their full Catholic hate on against the only Latino Justice. It should be very interesting watching the largely Catholic Latin community's response to this.
Funny you mention this, as my friend's Puerto Rican, hard core Catholic wife turned against Obama on this issue.
She's apolitical, but had always voted Dem out of habit, being from the Bronx.
Young women, hipsters, fratbros, and now Spanish speakers. Is there any demographic that the Obama Administration hasn't tried to connect with in a hilariously condescending way?
Except for libertarians, of course. We don't even get that.
Libertarians are the fat girl at the party. The really fat girl. Which isn't much, or any, change for you, Hugh.
You haven't seen the Austrian language version of the website yet?

Yeah, well, the CA supposed English version ain't so hot, either:

We got your screwed-up applications to go with your screwed-up medical insurance right here! But the Chron edi-cartoon still shows the problem is the GOP thinking bad thoughts about it.
Vete a la mierda por eso
I'm not sure that more components of a large project could so fucked up without that being the plan. The private sector has a long history of product failures, marketing mishaps, and the like, but I can't think of a single product/company/rollout that was this bad.
Customer interface, horrible. Marketing plan, near parody. Actual product, who the hell even knows beyond comparisons showing higher prices for lesser service. It's like someone said "let's see how many mistakes we can make in all areas" and then did it.
Well, most private sector failures like this are followed by abrupt turnarounds. Or the launch gets postponed, or the company goes out of business.
The private sector still fails, just failures are punished. (Which also reduces failures.)
Oh, and here's the obligatory comment: "My hovercraft is full of eels."
My nipples explode with delight!
Please do the needful.
Mi aerodeslizador es lleno de anguilas
So they put the pages through Google translate and never had a native speaker look over them. On the scale of fuckups with Obamacare, this is a small one.
True, but it is a fuckup that would get a private sector player fined and saddled with some kind of compliance action plan.
Sure, but they've already told HIPAA to go screw. I guess my outrage breaker has tripped.
Obama says you're very beautiful, senora, and he's ashamed to ask you for five American dollars for insurance coverage. But if he doesn't, the Republicans will beat him.
Flores, flores por los muertos!
Any day that starts off with a Quick Change reference can't be all bad.
Isn't that from A Streetcar Named Desire originally?
the Spanish-language site ... was late and remains sloppy.
It'll get fixed ma?ana.
And that's despite the fact that Spanish-speakers, many of whom are young, healthy, and uninsured, are one of the administration's target demographics for health insurance sign-ups under the law.
Indeed, the Spanish language site were better it could be used by illegal immigrants to get themselves and their families health insurance, sans subsidy of course, thus beefing up the young and healthy population that Obamacare desperately needs on the altar.
...except that the ACA specifically disallows illegal residents' using the health care exchanges. It's the law that never stops bringing the stupid.
Its unlikely that the illegals would get insurance now, even through the exchanges. If it was expensive before, its pretty damn unaffordable without subsidy now.
You know that and I know that. But the media would accept people who otherwise would show up in emergency rooms getting unsubsidized insurance as an upside of Obamacare. If it were allowed.
Regardless, on the margin some would buy from the exchanges. That they can't is simply punitive, and punitive for the sake of punitive is obnoxious.
In a way, it's almost a perfect law, in that it fucks everything up. A law that can't get anything right. I kind of like laws like that!
How is it possible this thread does not get any 'merikin spew? I is flabberfused
Why don't you just finish saying his name three times and have him pop up while you are at it?!
