Senate Approves Budget Deal, Walking Back Previous Attempts to Reduce Spending
64-36

The sequester barely nibbled at the edges of the federal government's spending problems, but Washington's big spenders decided even that attempt was too radical.
The U.S. Senate passed a two-year budget deal on Wednesday to ease automatic spending cuts and reduce the risk of a government shutdown, but fights were already breaking out over how to implement the budget pact.
By a vote of 64-36, the Senate sent the measure to President Barack Obama to be signed into law, an achievement for a divided Congress that has failed to agree on a budget since 2009.
Establishment Republicans borrowed Democrat rhetoric on opponents of the spending bill being "dangerous," and the Senate Conservatives Fund responded by calling Mitch McConnell and John Boehner public enemies number one in a fundraising email, claiming the Republican leaders were "attacking conservatives because they don't like it when the grassroots hold them accountable." The fund is running primary challengers against various Senate Republicans, including McConnell.

Well, what are you going to do? Last time, the rethugs shut down the entire country; red-tail hawks and spotted owls fell from the sky, the bodies of women and minorities piled up in the streets!
Did you want them to do that again?
We won't even mention what happened to the elderly and the orphans. I'm surprised we have any left...
Republican Victories Abound!
Why exactly are there two parties again?
Imagine how bad it would be with Nancy Pelosi as speaker!
Rather than her butt boy, Boehner?
Because it makes it easier to hide the pillaging
Yes. It's harder to distract people if you are their only enemy.
So establishment Republicans aren't moving to the middle in preparation for 2014 so much as sprinting to the left. Ingenious. Do they think the independents they're courting won't notice when they hang out the #2 Democrats shingle?
The Democrats are going to be toast in the next election, so apparently the Republicans will pick up the slack!
Yea, how is that Jeff Flake halo looking now? Cute move voting for cloture, then voting against the bill. Echoes of "I voted for it before I voted against it." Now he is in the same club as Alexander.
I fucking hate that shit like nothing else.
I'm pretty surprised at how quickly Washington turned him into another phony. It usually takes a little longer than that.
I thought it would be apropos to repost this:
There's this guy challenging Pat Roberts and I think he's cool.
The GOP establishment claimed in the 2000s that we were on the verge of a permanent Republican majority if we would just coopt the Democrats' issues (translation: surrender to Democrats). And so, it was the GOP establishment that gave us the largest expansion of Medicare in the history of the program. It was the GOP establishment that gave us "No Bureaucrat Left Behind" for our schools. It was the GOP establishment that gave us the bank bailouts. And it was the GOP establishment that opened the White House doors for Barack Obama.

Voters gave Republicans the White House, the House of Representatives, the Senate, and even the Supreme Court, and what did we get in return? The largest expansion of spending, borrowing, regulations, and debt our nation had ever seen.
And then we got Obo and it got worse.
Also, I am once again getting UPDATE JAVA bullshit spyware pages at random when I load Reason pages. Clean your fucking site already yes it is your site I don't this nonsense anywhere else.
Our long national nightmare of slightly slower debt accumulation is over!
From the Washington Post write up of this:
"Potential GOP presidential hopefuls, including Sens. Marco Rubio (Fla.), Rand Paul (Ky.) and Ted Cruz (Tex.), opposed it because it would increase spending now in exchange for the promise of budget cuts later."
Increases now for PROMISED cuts later? What would current polling show about the trustworthiness of politicians regarding their promises? And yet tomorrow those who opposed the deal will be described as reality challenged, ideologues.
Sheesh.
It stinks, but I can certainly understand the Republican position. Why distract people from the ongoing debacle that is Obamacare - and by extension all big government?
I'd feel better if there were more opposition from Republicans but it still passed. Instead all I get to hear on National Proletariat Radio is how the bi-partisan budget "compromise" passed overwhelmingly in the house. Oh, and we'll have to get that extra $23BB in unemployment bene's approved early next year when we come back!
The big problem is that it is a 2-year deal. So the elephants won't get to fight this again in early 2015 with a possible Senate majority. How stupid can you get?
Stupid jerk! I mean, what the fuck are you doing robbing your own house? You asshole! You stupid, stiff, pompous, Congress. . . .
lol, US politics, best politics money can buy lol.
