Poll: NYC Tax Hike on the Rich Has Support Across New York
Supported by 63 percent of voters as a whole, 58 percent of Republicans
ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — A new statewide poll shows 63 percent of voters support increasing New York City income taxes on households making more than $500,000 and using that money for public schools.
The Quinnipiac University poll indicates 81 percent support among Democrats, 61 percent among independents and 58 percent opposition among Republicans.
New York City Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio has proposed funding universal early education known as pre-kindergarten from the proceeds.
