Gov. Brown Signs Bill Mandating 'Prevailing Wages' for Charter City Projects

Or they'll lose state funding

Gov. Jerry Brown aligned with labor unions over the weekend, signing one of their top priority bills that would punish charter cities for not paying higher prevailing wages on public works projects.

Under the measure, charter cities that refuse to adopt prevailing wages, which are generally in line with union scale pay, would lose state dollars for public works project contracts signed after Jan. 1, 2015.
