Matthew Feeney Discusses the Death of Miriam Carey With Thom Hartmann on RT

Yesterday I discussed the death of Miriam Carey, the woman who was killed near the U.S.Capitol last Thursday, and the militarization of police with Democracy Now's Amy Goodman and Thom Hartmann on RT's "The Big Picture" show.

I'm all for facial hair. But it's better not to go out in public with a beard until you can actually grow a beard. Especially if you are appearing on TV.
I've turned against facial hair after every little hipster douche ski bum in VT had one this past winter.
Just say no to the beard.
"Skiing" in Vermont. Got it.
*ducks*
Skiing in Vermont es mas macho.
Look, if I can't be mean to you about skiing in Vermont, what can I be mean to you about?
I thought you were into the hairy manly man thing (though I guess hipsters manage to make their beards completely unmanly). I still say beards are great. As long as you don't spend a lot of time grooming them. Sure beats shaving. And it really is nice in the winter.
The only way beards are fine is if they are well-groomed.
Just say no to the beard.
I beg to differ.
... Hobbit
"Dressed like stormtroopers out of a Steven Spielberg movie."
Thom Hartmann is clearly a Lizard Person from Sirius B visiting our planet in the guise of a human being.
So, this is the first video I've seen...
Question for the Tulpas of the commentariat...
I could give security forces a pass had they shot her when she actually rammed the barricade. But when she left the immediate area, drove away, exited the vehicle, then they shot her. Had she been a terrorist with a car bomb, the threat would have been at that moment at the barricade surrounded by SS (What's it take to get Umlauts and a lightning bolt font for the love of christ?!!).
So based on my cursory review of the video, the SS (lightning bolt font implied) showed remarkable restraint...
You can't play soldier and be a peace officer.
I appreciate Amy Goodman's point, but I'm sure in her mind she's making all the wrong conclusions on the right issue.
She'd more than likely blame the militarization of the police on something something corporate power something Kochs.
Also, Goodman mentions the Posse Comitatus Act. Unfortunately, it's riddled with so many loopholes it's practically toothless. The United States Army is limited from enforcing state laws, but none of it applies to the National Guard, the Coast Guard or the civilian police.
I was watching the thing wondering if Freeney realizes that neither of the people he's conversing with would have any problem whatsoever if those militarized cops were coming after him specifically.
Amy Goodman: Anti-establishment.
Matthew Feeney (Libertarians): Anti-authoritarian.
Major, major difference.
"I appreciate Amy Goodman's point, but I'm sure in her mind she's making all the wrong conclusions on the right issue."
I'm not totally disagreeing with you but I have to give Amy some credit for making a lot of good points over the years.
Feeney, in a competition for the most thoughtful, concerned facial expression, you will always lose to Amy Goodman.
Did those stormtrooper videos give anyone else violent fantasies about taking these fuckers out en mass.
