UPS Worker Suing Teamsters Over Union Dues, He's Not Even a Member
Right to work law gives him the option

Unions probably fought the passage of Michigan's right-to-work law earlier this year specifically to avoid situations like this. Via the Grand Rapids Press:
Gary Frost of Grand Rapids informed Teamsters Local 406 that he wanted to revoke his dues deduction, and opt out of union dues under new right-to-work laws.
Frost was told by union officials he would have to wait for a "union-designated 'window period'" before he could stop paying dues, the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation said in a statement.
The union hasn't provided Frost with a copy of his dues deduction authorization or told him when the "window period" will expire, the foundation said.
Frost filed an unfair labor practice charge against the union with the National Labor Relations Board. The foundation is providing free legal assistance.
The Teamsters' bargaining agreement (a right!) with UPS expired in August, opening the door for Frost to opt-out of paying dues, if not the "window."
Michigan became the 24th state to enact a right-to-work law last December. Unlike some other states, Michigan's law preserved the privilege of collective bargaining for private and public sector unions. It did, however, ban the "closed shop," which allows union membership to be a condition of employment in some workplaces.
Shikha Dalmia made the libertarian case for right-to-work laws, which seek to alleviate the burden placed by the federal government in the Wagner Act, here. More Reason right-to-work laws here.

"Every time I try to get out... they keep pulling me back in..." 'cause, FYTW
I worked at UPS for a month during the holiday rush way back in college. I was relieved when it was over because I was pissed that part of my paycheck went to the fucking Teamsters.
I worked for Chrysler as vacation replacement two summers in college. Part of my paycheck went to the UAW.
The Thursday before I started, a guy got fired for being drunk on the line. The following Tuesday, he was back on the job.
People would challenge me on the story, and of course, I had no documentation. Well, they did it again.
Sounds like Gary Frost really wants to buy a new set of tires. Stupid Scab...
This seems like a good place to post this:

And you people think anyone but the USPS can deliver packages. MARKET FAILURE.
Of the four, UPS and USPS are the only two that manage to get to my door. FedEx and DHL, package might as well go right into the trash for all the odds of it making it to me.
How "union" workers value their little labor clubs even more than they value their own families speaks volumes about their character: They pay their "union" dues even before they feed and clothe their own kids.
Any month the budget gets a little short, the kids might not get that coat they need. But that freak'n "union" gets theirs.
You "union" people need to grow a pair and tell your "union" that there will be no more paycheck deduction. You'll be paying them just like you pay the gas or grocery bill. And in a short month, the kids are going to get what they need and the "union" will just have to wait.
Until you do this, you think more of that "union" than you do your own family.
Which is pathetic and disgusting.
