Italy Seeking Temporary Financial Assistance to Alitalia
Failing airline
Italy is looking to the banks to provide a temporary financial solution to keep Alitalia airborne.
The company, beset by problems, is looking for its major shareholder Air France-KLM to make a cash investment and increase its 25 percent holding in the airline.

It's no longer a gov't airline, but it seems to act like one:
"When I reported the loss to Alitalia officials in Bombay, I was asked to wait for 10 minutes for incidental expense money to be disbursed. I waited for 2 hours only to be told to wait 10 more minutes"
