Personally, I wouldn't be unhappy if coal burning for energy was decreased. It is truly a dirty energy source when considering the pollutants emitted from the stack and the sludge ponds surrounding the plant (and people worry about spent nuclear fuel locked in indestructible cement/steel casks?).

But I believe in free markets reducing coal use. Cheap NG and especially a deregulation of nuclear fission would go a long way to decreasing coal use.

I find it interesting that the ones who continuously accuse others of politicizing Climate Change? are the only ones seeking to use he political process to enforce their green energy wealth transfer initiative.

Even assuming that all the climate change stuff is perfectly correct, that is a stupid analogy. AIDS is a human specific disease that can be controlled and managed in various ways and there are fairly easy, inexpensive ways to stop its transmission.
Doing something about climate change, on the other hand, requires convincing huge numbers of people to act against their own economic interests towards some poorly defined goal of "stable" climate. Which is just not going to happen.

The debate over whether certain specific events are caused by climate change/global warming is completely stupid. In a complex dynamic system like climate and weather, everything causes everything else. If there is climate change going on (and when isn't there?) then it is a cause of everything that happens in the atmosphere. It is also in part a result of everything that happens. Unless you have a carefully controlled experiment set up, cause and effect just doesn't work that way. Everything is, to some degree, a cause of every subsequent event.
