Record Number of Americans Think Government is Too Powerful

Six in Ten Agree

Six in 10 Americans (60%) believe the federal government has too much power, one percentage point above the previous high recorded in September 2010. At least half of Americans since 2005 have said the government has too much power. Thirty-two percent now say the government has the right amount of power. Few say it has too little power.

If they had gone to college and received the enlightenment of postmodern philosophy, they would know that there is no such thing as "knowing"; how could they then claim that the government was too big?

According to the survey, during the Bush Jr. years, more Dems than Repubs thought that the government had too much power. And as expected, when Obama took office, the stats reversed, though with much more polarization. It'd be interesting to see whether Repub distrust holds up if they ever retake the presidency or if this is just simply evidence of tribalism.

I'll be gussing abut 25% think the government has too mch power over gun owners but not enough over gays, abou 25% think government has too much power over gays but not enough over gun owners, and the remaining 10% realizes that power is power and sooner or later the government will use it against you.
