ACLU Wants Jacksonville, Illinois to Explain Whether It Would Prosecute Someone For Recording Police

Police chief recently decided not to prosecute someone accused of recording cops

Although the city's police chief and state's attorney say they are temporarily dropping the issue of whether to charge a Jacksonville man with a felony for videotaping a police officer in the line of duty, the American Civil Liberties Union is not letting the matter drop.

The ACLU says it wants to know if anyone would face such charges under a 1960s eavesdropping law. It then cautions that the action is protected by the First Amendment.
