European Judges Vote to Uphold British Ban on Paid Political Ads

Vote of nine to eight

|

A bid by an animal rights group to open up paid political advertising in the UK has been narrowly rejected by European Judges.

Human right judges in Strasbourg ruled by the narrowest margin against the move, which would have allowed any political organisation to buy time on British television.

They decided by a margin of nine to eight not to change the UK's blanket ban, which prevents US-style aggressive political adverts.
